RUBBISH
my dh has been suffering from hayfever for weeks now. scratchy throat and itchy eyes.

if he cuts out beer, red wine and wheat the symptoms reduce dramatically. he had a beer last night after work and really knew about it this morning.

worth a try?

I thought my hayfever had started already but when I wen to the docs to get my script
he said that hayfever hasn't started yet for anyone
it's about 3 or 4 weeks away

sounds a bit odd to me but maybe you have the awful killer head cold that I have

hope you feel better soon anyhow smile

I friend of mine with severe hayfever tried acupuncture with amazing results, not only did it help her through one particular summer but it hasn't reoccured since. I'm pretty sure that if you went to see a decent practitioner it is safe while you're pg (but maybe check with your gp first)
Just a thought in case 'normal' hayfever remedies dont work. x

After recommendations on here I have ordered Lloyd's pharmacy allergy reliever, it's currently on offer at £13.99 on their website.

I second choclateteapot - Medinose/Lloyds have created a miracle. My body has forgotton it has hayfever! it works using light waves to densitise the nasal membranes. You are suppose to use it twice a day, but after a couple of weeks last summer I used it once every two days. medinose Just seen its gone back up in price on amazon- it may be worth shopping around - they do have a money back guarantee or look at the Lloyds version.
Other things that may help:

buy a plant spray from the garden centre/diy shop, fill with water, put onto a fine mist setting and spray over yourself, his clothes, the furniture, around the windows, pets etc.
you don't get hayfever when it rains, it helps to make the air as damp as possible.

Another thought is have you heard of neti pots?
Its washing the nose out with very warm water and a little salt. This washes out the pollen.
See nasopure this is the most poweful one.

If you don't like the look of these you could go to your local chemist and ask for sterimar

Coat inside of nostrils and eyelashes with vasaline or balm as this helps trap the pollen

failing all of the above have a shower including hair wash and change clothes

I'm a bit of a hayfever bore having suffered for nearly 25 years, my ds2 has got it now so I'm really into doing this naturally and find all of the above work better than any conventional medicine including all the tablets, sprays, steriod injections. I've also tried acupuncture which worked for one year and not the next, homeopathy and very local honey (both used before the season started) both were a waste of money.
good luck x

I took Loratadine while I was pregnant. It was prescribed by the doctor.

Definitely worth asking your GP, cause you can carry on taking some things.

I took Piriton when pregnant but it is an old-fashioned "drowsy" one, really knocked me out!

Poor you, I suffer badly with hayfever too and it's miserable. I was prescribed different tablets, eyedrops and spray when pg, they weren't as effective as the meds I normally use but I did get some relief thankfully.

Going to google that Lloyd's allergy reliever and maybe give that a try this year too.

Oh you started already must be a different pollen mine starts later. I think you can use the drops and possibly the inhaler too. Worth asking m/w or dr tho.

Lloyds Allergy Reliever. It's a little machine with two probes, stick up nose, turn on, turns itself off after about 3 minutes (you look like rudolph for a bit though) 3 times a day, £15 in Lloyds. Same as Medinose or something like that if you google.

mine disappeared when pg - was fab!

My friend tried the homeopathic stuff and said helped.

Ds is nearly 2 now and my hayfever's back but nowhere near as bad as before - touch wood!
