thanks for all the info. The trufree brand found in tescos had potato/rice starch in them which I seem to be having problems with. I will try and get to a bigger supermarkets to see if there is more options. Corn is fine so...
All pasta has to be made with a starch. Its the binding element which can be potato, flour, rice or corn. An alternative is spaghetti squash; 1 cup of cooked spaghetti squash has 7 grams of starch, compared to 32.2 grams in one cup of whole-wheat pasta. You can use all the usual sauces with it as well and doesnt need to be pre-cooked if you want to bake it.
It would be very unusual for it to be rice starch which is a problem it is one of the things they put you on if you have an elimination diet Potato though can be a problem (and I am someone who is allergic to it ) it's not that common but it is often related to problems with Latex (rubber) and certain fruits.
I cant eat rice itself as I get problems with it. I'm really trying out the elimination diet on my own cutting out the things I know cause me problems. Rice being the major one. I have started feeling great discomfort when eating bread (white bread has caused problems for a long time, so I always eat brown), white potatoes also cause problems so I now eat sweet potato as an alternative. Should probably see a doc for proper diagnosis, but, someone I know suggested cutting out wheat, gluten and dairy(going by my symtoms I described to her, she also had very similar problems). As potato and rice give me bother I (rightly or wrongly) thought I would have to avoid these starches???? Maybe someone could correct me on this if i'm wrong?

Gord I thought I was difficult avoiding wheat and potato LOL sweet potato despite the name is no relation to our normal potatoes. If you buy glutin free bread look at the ingredients because some contain potato starch too.
Not pasta but may be worth looking at things that are oat based as well as corn, there is also one that begins with Q it's a grain can't for the life of me remember what it is called that may be worth looking at too.
they do Quinoa in Sainsburys for definite, i was stacking shelves there up til 2 months ago and they definitely, definitely had it, cant remember how much but i will look tomorrow - its in the free from aisle (well it is in my store anyway)
Hi everyone thanks again for all your help. I have found rye bread for sandwiches (tastes a lot better than I thought it would) and went to the big sainsburys near me and found pasta(lasagne/fusilli/spaghetti) that are all corn based so gives me a choice also found a nice salad dressing too which I look forward to trying. The larger store had lots of stuff. Sweet potatoes are lovely baked/roasted/mashed very nice (and doesn't upset me either). Here's hoping I have this thing sussed then.
I would also suggest looking in Waitrose. They have a huge free from range... Or what ever they call it. THey also have many alternatives, and definitely have quinoa ( yes it is pronounced keenwar )
Also, look in holland and barrat, or other health food shops. THey also have all these things, ad many others i abundance Some really interesting, tasty things. I've not any problems with any foods but often browse in the two whole foods and health foods stores in my local town. THere is a chain called Julian Graves, which also sells quinoa, as I bought some in there a week ago, on special offer!
Bloatedness (feel and look six months pregnant within about half an hour of eating sometimes). Discomfort, pains and have also had blood on 2 occassions(but that was long time ago). Always feel full up and have been known to fall asleep shortly after eating even small meals. No rash or anything. Hopefully by eliminating these things I will feel better and possibly start to reintroduce one at a time and take it from there, but, i'll need to see how it goes.
