Milk is an important source of nutrients that you and your family shouldnt miss out on. If someone in your family has lactose intolerance and the rest of the family still want to enjoy the taste of real milk, try Lactofree - the UKs first virtually lactose-free dairy drink.
at bristol childrens hospital. am feeling a bit wierd and nervous. do you think it will be the same format as 'normal' children outpatient appointment at local hospital was? what do you think the next step will be?
yes. in a nutshell.... TTg negative. Total Iga low. abdo pain and nausea for 7 months now. ocasional constipation. v clingy and moody/depressed. and lots of other stuff. DD is just 10. eats a very limited diet of mostly bread.
Gastro bod thinks it is 'gastritis'. Has prescribed another course of omeprazole (previous dr did give her only a weeks worth. this dose is higher and she is to take them longer) Also took more blood to recheck Ttg, Iga and Ige. The Ige wasn't tested before. So we wait for another 3 months by which time this will have been going on nearly a year.
when i had my diagnosis four years ago, the initial consultant appointment was to discuss symptoms and to arrange the biopsy and colonoscopy I was having done at the same time. They took more bloods as well at that appointment as well iirc, but can't remember what for. I assume your DD's appointment will be similar.
if they were doing the endoscopy at this appointment you'd have been told that she should be nil by mouth, in case she vomits when they put the tube down. This will probably be so they can take (probably yet another) history from you and explain any forthcoming procedures.
Try not to worry; kids are much more resilient than us at these things; your DD will be fine.
dont know if this will help friends little the same negative for coeliac diagnosed with giardia bug in bowel treated with antibiotics follwing ct scan uss now gaining weight and thriving
