Let me start by being a little bit fair to dh, he is currently working abroad so he and I only see each other at weekends and he is always very busy so sometimes information doesn't get passed on.

There are some public holidays in the Netherlands this week so ds and I spent the weekend in Amsterdam with dh and we all came back to the UK last night (so we have spent 4 days together).

This morning as dh was brushing his teeth he mentioned that someone from his church had asked ds to be a pageboy at his wedding. Conversation as follows

Me: That's sweet, do they want him to wear something in particular or will we just get something smart ourselves?

DH: Just something smart I suppose. I'm sure ds has something he could wear.

Me: I doubt it as he's been growing so quickly. We'll buy something, I'll have a look online and in Monsoon. When is the wedding?

DH: I'm not sure, I can't remember

Me: Do you know the month? Is is summer or autumn.

DH: It's either this weekend or next.

Me: hmm

I have decided to be inactive, and let him sort it out. I may even come down with something on the day of the wedding (dh can't drive and the wedding is way up in North London).

Please laugh and tell me it's my own fault for marrying a geek.

LOL - it's your own fault for letting a man think he's capable of making social arrangements grin

Can you do a good passive-aggressive? It might come in handy here.

Yes, let your dh sort everything out. Including outfits.

Fortunately there is a Monsoon very near Waitrose and a Gap for kids not too far away and the Waitrose has a small JL bit which has kids' clothes. I plan to be passive-aggressive in the extreme and send dh off to buy the outfit while I do the shopping. I don't think he has ever bought clothes for ds before so it'll be a novelty for both of them. I will miss seeing the look of shock on his face when he sees the prices in Monsoon though. grin

I haven't said that I will go to the wedding, nor has dh specifically asked me to drive them there so I will be passive-aggressive about that too and he can sort himself out a taxi.

I may kindly remind him to bring a spare pair of trousers as ds has a very poor record of making it to the loo in time, especially if he is nervous or distraced. [evil grin]

I hadn't thought of Next, that would be a bit cheaper - it would mean an extra trip though as there isn't one near Waitrose. I may 'forget' to list it among the options. smile

We bought the linen suit for Ds last summer and it is stunning- also sells well on ebay if you have no need for it after you've used it!!

ds is nearly 4 (in June). I have doubts that he will be able to do the page boy thing in front of lots of strangers as he can be shy, but that's dh's problem. [evil snigger]

Only last night I was replying to an email to arrange a weekend meet-up with friends and I asked dh if he had any plans for the next 3 weekends as he will be in London for them. He said "no", and then this morning suddenly there's a wedding. hmm It must have come to him in a dream.

Anyway, it's not on the calendar in the kitchen, so officially this wedding doesn't exist. grin (Which reminds me of the time he arranged to have dinner with another couple, didn't tell me, didn't put it on the calendar. I came home late from work to find a message on the answerphone from the couple who had been waiting in the restaurant for 40 mins.)

I just told my Mum and she laughed too. I do sometimes find dh quite amusing when it's a situation that I can be passive in, less amusing obviously when he does his head-in-the-clouds thing with something that affects me.

An update to this thread (in case anyone's interested). The wedding was on Saturday just gone. DS wore the male version of a salwar kameez (I can't remember what it's called) that MIL had sent from Malaysia last year. He was listed on the order of service as "assistant best man" grin and he was a little star according to DH.

I'm really, really glad I didn't go as the service was an hour late starting because the bride was late, and then it was 2 hours long. shock Then the reception afterwards was a bit chaotic, with food taking a long time to be served. There was a bouncy castle though, so DS was happy. smile
