I received this in an email.....made me chuckle so I thought I'd share it with you all grin

I was walking down the street when I was acosted by a particularly dirty and shabby-looking homeless woman who asked me for a couple of dollars for dinner.

I took out my wallet, got out ten dollars and asked, 'If I give you this money, will you buy wine with it instead of dinner?'

'No, I had to stop drinking years ago', the homeless woman told me.

'Will you use it to go shopping instead of buying food?' I asked.

'No, I don't waste time shopping,' the homeless woman said. 'I need to spend all my time trying to stay alive.'

'Will you spend this on a beauty salon instead of food?' I asked.

'Are you NUTS!' replied the homeless woman. I havent had my hair done in 20 years!'

'Well, I said, 'I'm not going to give you the money. Instead, Im going to take you out for dinner with my husband and me tonight.'

The homeless Woman was shocked. 'Won't your husband be furious with you for doing that? I know I'm dirty, and I probably smell pretty disgusting.'

I said, 'That's okay. It's important for him to see what a woman looks like after she has given up shopping, hair appointments, and wine.'

My brother is going to come up and do it.

Give them dinner and get their PJs on and stuff.

I do hate asking him, as he and his wife run a pub/social club and also have a 14 year old and a 2.11 year old. Also they had baby L last night, so will be very tired. But nice one bro

Hiya Everyone Welcome gem

These threads will help you loads. A lovely please to have a chat as well grin

THM The was good of your bruv to step in at the last minute. I hope your hospital appointment goes ok.

Jas I hope the downstairs is going well.
I`m not looking froward to the mid/end of the week as the weather people said its going to cool down. I know the weather will set me back which will make me lack in motivation to do anything.

We had a great weekend The BBQ was great on Saturday evening and we all enjoyed being outside and having loads of fun. We cooked some bits on the BBQ yesterday lunch just so DS1 could eat some as well. DS1 did not want to go last night. (I knew it would have been even worse if we had a BBQ for tea last night) Once his mentor came to get him and said what sort of things they would be doing this week made him feel much better about going. It was really great having him home this weekend. He did not even ask to use the PC or play any computer games shock So no moods over not being able to play on them.

I cant do today mission so HNtree is going to do it later this evening. For our 2nd room we are going to do our sort of outhouse. It has a loo and sink (there is also a shower but its really old and yuck) There is also a little room for keeping coats, shoes & boots etc I going to give that a good clean. We might even repaint it as well. It is a very very bright yellow which is a bit too much on the eyes. Its OK in the winter but summer time......... Its like trying to look at the sun when we walk into that room. The loo area is white, {{{boring}}} Need to find a nice warm colour.

I`m going to get the washing in and iron that now. I`m loving this sunny weather. Its so nice to have outside dried clothes.

HN xx

Hello Luda How are you?

I've done an hour, and downstairs is tidyish, and I've cleared a path through dd2s room. I can't hoover as ds thinks it is great fun to turn it off every two seconds so I'm going to do the bathroom before the school run and a bit more bedroom instead, and hoover when the dds are here to distract him.

Feet are better now grin

Just been on the phone to my AVON woman, who decided to tell me now (after I have been distributing my brochures like a looney) that as a first time order, there is a cap on how much I can sell! I'm now hoping my orders don't exceed the limit! I'm going to have to ask people if they can wait another month....bummer!

I'm not doing too bad at all....over £200 of orders (I make £50 every £200) that was with my first 20 brochures. I have now put all 20 back out again and hoping for the same kind of orders again, except the cap is at £400....so I'll just have to hope some of the last 20 don't order...or order just a few things hmm

gem Yahoo! Well done on your first mission (you are doing better than me today)

Evening Everyone

A big Welcome to Gem Hope you like it here

TMH Sorry about your mum being.... Yay to your Bro tho and good luck at the appointment

BWB It's great when he isn't here. I've learned that if I accept the fact he isn't about I can use the time effectively and enjoyably rather than fretting about being stuck on me tod. Ed and I had a great time with him cutting interesting paper and card with crinkly stickers then sticking it to bright paper and laminating it. Then he built and obstacle course for balls of plastercine. All on our bed! He's asleep at the side of me now [bless]. BTW did you sort your roof out?

Everything is done, house clean, DW on, Ed showered, lunchboxes made for tomorrow, DH tea in oven, sink shined, bathroom clean. Just me time now

Hope you are all well and have had warm sunny days
Contact the poster Contact mumsnet about this post By Nutsaboutchocolate on Mon 12-May-08 22:50:57
Hi again.

I done the ironing and then went to sleep with DD on the sofa. We did not wake up until HNtree and DS2 came home from school.

We had a lovely weekend. It has to be the best we have had in a very long time. Even DS2 and DD did not want DS1 to go as they were having so much fun with him.

We had tea out in the garden today. We need a new table and chairs though. Our old table is ready top fall apart and we use the chairs for the kitchen as the old ones have fall apart!!hmm I will have to save up for a nice one that will last. We will need a good shed to keep it all in, in the winter though. The outhouse bit is not really big enough. The DC bikes are already stood in the shower bit grin

Well done jem on your 1st mission.

TMH I hope you get some answers from the colonoscopy and a gascoscop on Wednesday.

Tort Sorry you feel fat and sad. I know I`m over weight and I have been putting loads of weight on. About 2 stones in the last 6 months. About 3 stones in the last year or so.blush I dont eat a lot though. I think mine is from having CFS and MS. I cant get the exercise that is needed to keep the weight off. I hope to do more this summer to get some of the weight off. I know though that it will go back on in the winter as I wont be able to do some much.[ Winter weather means I suffer more ]

I think I will just have to put up with being over weight. Apart from not eating anything at all there is nothing I can really do about it. DSs eat more than I eat in a day. I`m eating about the same size meals as DD eats.

Better turn this lappy off now. I need to be up in the morning to do the lunch boxes and I want to get the washing out on the line and wash some of curtains while it is nice weather.

Night night all

HN xx
