I let 6 year old ds use my read nail varnish to paint blood on his WWE wrestling figures. <shoot me now>

He did it very carefully, making no mess. He placed teh brush back in the bottle without screwing it on.

I collected said nail varnish whilst swinging arms and singing to I wish I was a punk rocker on the radio....picked up bottle by lid, swinging arms, lid wan't on, and nail varnish richoched (sp?) over a foot long stretch of carpet, AAAARGHGHH.

IT WON'T COME OUT.

I have tried nail polish remover, 1001 stain remover and hot soapy water.

Dh will kill me.

He is of the 'why on earth give a six year old red nail varnish in teh first place' camp.

He will be home at 4.00pm.

Save me from a fate worse than death.......

don't tell himyou gave it to him, you're the one that spilt it and it was an accident.

Home insurance ?????? you may be covered?

Does it have a deep pile - could you use a blade to cut it off?

Can you check your household insurance?

Do you have a pet you can blame? Nb this gives valuable bonding opportunity with ds over secret.

Can you put a rug over the top?

How long is the pile? - I had to shave DD's carpet when she got nail varnish on it, but luckily it was by the side of her dressing table, so not too noticeable.
Otherwise I'd suggest moving furniture or buying a cheap rug.....

I would tot say I had given it to him except John Cena, The Rock et al have red nail vanish all over their naked torso's....

lol imaginative use of nail varnish! i'd probably let it dry then try to pick it off (or shave it as the other post suggested)

Pile not deep enough to cut.

have you really let acetone soak in - it might take a while.
Take pics for insurance, just in case

Tis a good time to teach your ds about facing up to the truth bravely

Well, according to a recent thread, you should have your pocket money taken away and not ba allowed to watch TV for a week!

Anyway, it's just as much your carpet as dh's - it was an accident and it's not as if it's in the living room or anything. Worse things will happen to a beige carpet in a child's bedroom, believe me!

get a rug quick

someone's dc did this and they got all their stickers taken away and their cd player out of their room etc

I think you should confiscate your own pocket money and so on

LOL seeker
it was too much of a co-incidence not to draw parallels wasn't it

DS has just announced I should call Daddy at work and tell him, otherwise he'll find out later and be even crosser.

<DrN sits on naughty step>

Bless him.
Take DS shopping for a lovely bedroom rug.

well being entirely serious you could show your ds about being honest and apologising etc
I just have the feeling not many dhs would phone their wives to do the same
you don't want to give the message that things in the house belong to daddy and daddy is in charge, do you know what I mean?

Check your nail polish remover - is it acetone free? If so, that might why it didn't work, it is the acetone you need to clean the carpet.

You can get acetone from chemists. Spot check the carpet first though, in case you make it worse (is that possible?hmm)

Then a good carpet shampoo should take out any residue.

I am sure this has happened before. Search and see if you can find it.I can't find anything in my book atm.

Treat with Carpet Devils No 1 followed by shampooing. If marks remain have them professionally cleaned. (I would try the carpet devils again)

Well the stain is still there. MIL came round last night and asked in a horrified tone how on earth had ds got hold of red nail varnish?

She looked very disaprovingly when I said I gave it to him....
