We live on a busy road with very big windows!

SO, net curtains or similar are a must, especially as DS is a big fan of walking around naked....

Now I know nets are a style crime, but we need something! Don't really fancy stick on frosted glass in the living room, voile is a bit shiny for my liking, blinds... maybe - but not too officey? Nets - does anyone make nice patterns? (not floral!!!)

Any links/suggestions would be SO VERY MUCH appreciated!

A little more modern than most?

We just have plain sheer voiles.

Sheer roller blinds - have a look at Ikea or John Lewis.

You always respond to my quandaries, LL! Thank you!

Voile is a possibility, if I can find a nice natural matt one - thanks for the link - will browse through the shop!

SO do you think that certain nets can be okay? <anxious>

WOW, the pedlars ones are ace!

If I couldn't have got sheers, I would have had old lady nets rather than have all the drunken oiks peering in! grin

Personally I'd go for half-shutters if I had a) my own house and b) loads of cash grin

We've got wooden blinds - not all officey!

They are at least versatile - up, down, tilted, closed!

You beat me to it, LL! I was thinking of the Pedlar type ones. They're very popular here in Holland at the mo and look great.

John Lewis definitely do sheer, matt voile panels. I have one in my living room as we also have large windows.

Nice fat wooden venetian blinds,
or if you can splash the cash, American plantation shutters.

I have nets and I do not care if they are a style crime!
They are nice and sheer to let in as much light as poss, yet people can't see in.
it was much darker in the room with blinds and a bit of a faff to keep them clean.
Got mine from good ole John Lewis, then found exact ones in a local shop for half the price.

I used to be on a Corrie-style street - nets a must.

But nets are a crime so we got VOILES (viles, as dh calls them) aka MUSLIN PANELS from John Lewis which were nice and stylish. Ready-made, or made to order in wide range of fabrics - sheer, coloured, or chintzy cottagey (if you must) ...

Blinds nightmare for cleaning

Ah, I'm so glad I CAN get nets! As you rightly point out, they are nice and cleanable, and the pedlar ones may look wonderful on the airy drawing room French doors, but will definitely not be shown off to the fullest on our PVC white double glazing, on similarly Coronation Street style road.

Will hunt for matt voile panels!

Have you looked in Habitat? They do lots of blinds to order- we got some in white linen (or similar- cannot remember the name, it looks like white linen) for our rather large dining room window and it's great: lets light through but people cannot see us, it looks good and did not cost much. It took about 2 weeks from order to delivery I think and DH says it was easy to install. Much better than John Lewis, we thought.

I've got cream voile roman blinds - they look lovely.
Got them from littlewoods direct - think they still do them.
