Morningsmile

I'll do lnks ina mo.

I've just signed up on a one day housework busting thread, as I need to get back on track and the dds are both at after school clubs today.

I'l still be on here toosmile

Tortoise - Ring the dentist - youcan't do housework with toothache. It needs sorting!

Bianca - Gentle reminder to try and ring Drs. smile I did read your posts over the weekend, but didn't reply at the time, and think everything I can think of has already been said now.

Minimal flying this week as (whisper) RL has got in the way grin

Off out this morning (have to drop off a bundle of drycleaning.)

Still doing my weightwatchers (I now fit into all my size 14 trousers where previously they were hidden at the back of the wardrobe !)

Have to have a general clear up but nothing too bad

I'll be back properly next week

Enjoy the good weather !

Morning all
school helping and boring food shopping today. House still pit, but the sun is still shininggrin, so don't worry be happy!

I am amazed at how much I have enjoyed the sunshine this year. It was not even a terrible winter, but I find it so uplifting.
Just as well really as all 3dds were horrid yesterday.

Had nice day at school, took them swimming, gave them a chocolate each, had bought them some nice (unnecessary) sandals for a party, and they were really rude to me.

I screeched like fishwife and fed them and sent them to bed.

New day, new start!

Mornin all.

Ruby I did a fair bit of screeching yesterday too blush. Trying to do too much as usal and expecting my DCs to act older than they are. Must do better.

Gorgeous sunshine.

Must dash.

Morning all,

Have done morning routine and have just done an online grocery order as DH away over the weekend so wont be able to go to supermarket.

DD1 still poxy and we are waiting for the last blisters to scab over. We cant go out in the sun as she is so fair she needs sun cream but I cant get cream on her poxy arms and it is too hot for her to wear long sleeves (she would be naked all the time if she could )

Managed to sort out my wardrobe the other day and now have a pile of clothes for rubbish, clothes to give to charity shop and clothes to sell. Whether I will get around to doing anything with them is another matter.

Anyway, have a good day everyone.

Morning all.
DS2 is home with bad cough. Will have to find something to entertain her so i can tidy!
Lovely and warm her too. WM just finished so i will put that out 1st then re-load machine.

Need to strip DS1s bed. Did DS2's yesterday. Need to do DD's too. Will put them on later to hang out tomorrow (if stays sunny!)

EHM No idea TBH. Never bought anything like those. smile Maybe ask the rest of MN too?
jas Tooth seems ok today at the moment! Yes i know it will probaby hurt again later. blush it isn't bad enough yet to force me to get it looked at.
sagacious Well done on the weight loss.
TMH Good idea. I have been quite short tempered lately. Wil try harder not to be. Hope you wake up more soon. Enjoy the park.

EHM - if the one you have is good, I'd go with that. Cant beat personal experience when buying products for other people I think.

I remember our monitor had an alarm if it got too hot. We had a heat wave and didnt know how to turn the alarm off for about 3 months grin

No idea EHM- I think you may need a new thread for that one.
Not something I everfeltthe need for (but I'm not an anxious type, and my house is very small so I never even bought any trype of monitor.

So far I'm failing at the housework challenge, but I'm hoping having posted on the thread will shame me into getting moving this afternoon.

EHM Sounds like a good present. We didn't really do monitors either as have small bungalow.

Today i am getting in a muddle with laundry (as usual). Need to go to library after school, ? go to park or maybe just play in the garden.

I need to do hoovering (for some reason I hate housework even more in the summer).

Have sorted out magazine rack, actually it didn't have any magazines in! Paper work from court, instruction books for toys/bikes/DVD player etc.
Also cleared pile of little coffee table.

Have a pile of bits to put upstairs then in loft sometime.

Dd2 is asleep on sofa. Still coughing on and off and she keeps waking up and saying something then going back to sleep! last time she woke she cried and said she had missed lunch time lol!

Has anyone banned squash after letting them have it for years? I am concidering it! They all had watered down apple juice or water/milk yesterday but they weren't too impressed! I think we get through too much squash. Are they going to get used to it or dehydrate in this weather? I am doing fine on just water. Normally drink lots of squash. An there is a bottle of it in the cupboard unopened!
Contact the poster See this person's profile Contact mumsnet about this post By scattyspice on Thu 08-May-08 12:57:05
I was toying with the idea of banning squash Tort. DD(3) drinks gallons of it then constantly needs a wee. Also I'm building up courage to take them to the dentist!

Mine do see a dentist but (and am very blush & sad about this) i found a hole in DD2's (age 3) back tooth. Feel terrible about it. They don't have many sweets etc though.
Contact the poster See this person's profile Contact mumsnet about this post By FunkyGlassSlipper on Thu 08-May-08 13:27:11
tort - we dont have squash but dd1 loves apple juice. she knows when i water it down and wont drink it so I have just bought pressed apple juice and watered that down and she hasnt notice. We're on 80% AJ/20% water at the moment but I plan to make it 50/50. Other than that she drinks milk, milkshake and water.
Contact the poster See this person's profile Contact mumsnet about this post By Jas on Thu 08-May-08 13:29:33
I have a bottle of squash for emeergency use but try and give watered down fresh juice.
I don't actually think it is any better for their teeth, but doesn't have other sweeteners/additives.

Ds drinks mostly apple juice with 80%water added, the dds drink it 1/2 watered down and moan alot.
DD1 will drink iced water, but dd2 would rather go thirsty than drink water so I have to compromise.

I'm definitely going to try and get them drinking more water as it gets warm and they drink more.

Mine see the dentist and have had no problems so far, but my teeth are terrible and I'm a it paraniod about them having bad teeth.

My friends ds (age 5 ) has just had to have a tooth out, and apart from the fact that he is very young to be having to have one outsad, it cost her £200 to get it done privatelyshock. (The alternative was a 6-8 week wait for an NHS appointment, which you just can't do to a small child in pain.)

Sorry that was a bit of a long old rant.

I've only done my kitchen so far today.

I'll get off the computer and go and clean.....
Contact the poster See this person's profile Contact mumsnet about this post By FunkyGlassSlipper on Thu 08-May-08 13:33:15
Try giving them straws and fancy ice cubes to distract them from lack of sweeteners in their drinks grin
Contact the poster See this person's profile Contact mumsnet about this post By tortoise on Thu 08-May-08 13:41:37
Thanks for your imput. Sounds like i will just have to go for it! They didn't really like the juice watered down but that is tough! lol!
It is the cost as well as teeth damage etc. 99p for 1 litre and it can go in one day if all home. shock
All this water is making me want to wee more though! grin hmmtmi?

No advice on moniors EHM - mine were so noisy monitor was pointless!

We don't do much in the way of squash, but I have bought a 16p for 1 ltr bottle from sains today to see how we get on. RR banished from MN for chaviness grin

ehm have never used one of these myself- i'd say go with what you have if you like it tho

tort i banned squash when my ds was 3 or4 he wasnt impressed but after lots of trial and error it seemed the additives etc sent him loopy. the calm in our house was amazing after a couple of weeks. he now has it as an occasional treat, although it is even more occasional now as dd is allergic gets a rash within 15 mins of having some.
all i'd suggest is go for it, they'll get over it after a couple of days. and keep LOTS of water in fridge tatses so much beetter freezing cold, ds wont drink it any other way

i've had a lovely day at the strand.
did manage to do general tidy up before we left for school this mornin and have just washed up and hooveered. my wash machine didnt spin earlier so have set it to try again, please dont start being naughty WM hmm
have just got back to find very large utility bills on the mat. elec was roughly as expected but gas was 3x the last one, and for a shoter period. wouldnt mind if used the sodding heating!
so going to have to brave the basement and read my meters this week as the bills are estimated not actual. to see if i really am using what they say

off to school now am picking up my freinds dc today then home to cook dinner. hiopefully get spun washing out machine and put some more in

Hi ALL

Thanks for your comments regarding the monitor. I think I may start a thread on the in the Multiples Area.

tort I was at my parents at the weekend & my nephew who is 18 months has been given Orange Squash for 1 week including at my Mums. He was like 'chucky'. I said to my Mum it maybe the Orange as my brother was exactly the same when he was a Toddler. Similar to dylsm lo he would go off the scale. Ellie only has water, still has milk when she gets up & before she goes to bed. FGS had great idea about ice cubes & straws. Good Luck. When is your dad home & how is your tooth?

PS. what age should children start visiting the dentist. Elliis nearly 2.

Had a lovely day enjoying the sunshine, washing dried, ironed & put away.I have to do when Ellie is napping, having quiet time or in bed at night or I would never get it done.

Maybe back later, if not have a good evening & see you all tomorrow.x

EHM Dad is only visiting. Has to sort out their stuff that is still in storage over here. Will only see him for a few hours.sad Tooth is hurting at the moment. Agree with FGS. Visit dentist at any age, mine always came with me and he checked them at the same time.

DC are protesting about squash ban! I will stick with it though! And will put some in the fridge too.

Tort - what about getting some still water in bottles (just once) and then refilling them and putting them in the fridge. I prefer drinking tap water from a bottle than from a cup hmm

EHM - knee is doing fine. Just managed to come downstairs one step at a time in the last few days. It started off very painful but seems to be easing. Managing everything else except kneeling and squatting.

Evening All

I`m in bed already grin

A teeth a squash day today in here today.

Mine all go to the dentist but DS1 hates going. He does not like the sounds while we wait. So we now go first thing in the morning. Even the new dentist thought it was a great idea and said he would give other mums the idea of being first in with children who are scared about the dentist.

We drink a lot of water here. Filtered and kept in the fridge (x2 jugs)Orange juice for breakfast(DD has milk) DD will have apple/orange juice and water with her lunch. DC have hot milk before going to bed. DSs were trying to get me to let them have hot chocolate before bed. Yeah right, they go hyper after drinking hot chocolate!

Tort I think you will have to book that dentist appointment. hmm You should get an appointment for tomorrow if you can.(weekend! I will say not more)
Do you find you can have a really bad toothache until you get to the dentist and then it goes. I have to write down which tooth is hurting as it will stop hurting when I get to the dentist and I cant remember which tooth was then hurting.

I did go shopping today and got 3 new tops, some new T-shirts and 4 pairs of 3/4 lengths. (All summery colours) A pair of pink trainers (which DD keeps putting on and walk around in.) A pair of white and pink flipflop. Some new socks, (I love new socks, I never get enough new socks) And a new white summer hat. grin Just under £100 shockhmm
Now watch the sun go in and start raining hmm

HN xxx
