We always seem to buy big comfy looking pillows which squish into flat pancakes after about a month . I think it's about time we invested in some decent pillows which retain their shape and size. Are we talking memory foam types or sprung pillows?
There's a whole world of pillows out there, help me find a decent one please
I splurged on a goose down pillow (well, in the sales but still a splurge), and it's fantastic - have had it for about 3 years and it's still exactly as fluffy and comfortable as ever. Whereas all our spongey ones are just thin and depressed looking.
Down, they may go flat in the night but they pump up beautifully. We have feather and down on the bottom for substance and just down on the top for lovely soft comfort.
I'm having the same problem despite having paid out £50 a go for goose down ones . I would really appreciate a god recommendation. At the moment I seem to be replacing them every six months or so!
After seeing this thread the other week, I decided to throw caution to the winds and splurged on a memory foam pillow. Have slept on it for just over a week.
It's odd. It is very tall, so I only need one pillow. It keeps its shape, so I don't end up on a pancake. But it's not soft and pillowy, it's like having your head in a mould which is hard-ish but perfectly shaped, iykwim. Oh yes, that's what memory foam is meant to do.
However, I'm definitely less restless during the night, and am waking up with a stiff neck less frequently. I shall continue to use it and see how it goes...
I have had a memory foam pillow for about 3 years and have loved it since day one. I take it with me when I stay overnight in hotels! I seem to remember there was a choice of firm, medium and soft, and I went for medium. Also, some are a strange shape - higher at the neck then head - but mine is pillow shaped and wonderful!
I can't afford £30 for a dunlopillo one but need some good ones, anyone got any alternatives to the 'down' ones as dh is abit allergic to that i think?
maidamess......i used to hang on to mine i just didn't think about all that horrible stuff....how awful, not i change them quite alot!!! But i really need a good/nice pillow that isn't massively expensive as i want them for all of us so thats quite a few pillows!
You may have bought some by now, but I was sick of the same problem. But the last lot of pillows I bought at Ikea, and they've been FAB - cost about £4 (but last time we went back - couldn't see them and paid about £7 for one for ds), and have been nice and plump for months and months now.
