... your stretch marks in the summer or cover them up?

I have the dreaded things on my chest/breast area and some on my arms and hate having to wear long sleeved, high-neck tops, etc.

I feel disgusted with them and feel others would be, too.

How do you deal/what do you think about them?

Aw sorry Wux. I think somehow you need to learn to love them. Perhaps not love, but get on with them well at least.

Easy to say, I know. I actually don't mind mine. I'm trying to learn to live with my lumpy tummy because I want to wear a bikini and not care.

Bit of a tan (fake or <gulp> real) will make them much less obvious, IMO.

Get them out, cover in fake tan and buy your self some fantastic shoes to take your mind away from the trauma!

You're right, Spider.

Still, can't help me feel like crap when I see gorgeous un-stretchmarked skin out in the summer.

Slouchy, my skin's already brown. I'm mixed race and they're much more noticable on my skin than white stetchmarks on white skin.

Go the shoe - in fact, the whole summer wardrobe thing covered already, Funky.
Just need the confidence to not give a fig and get on with it.

Sigh

Get them out and don't be ashamed, nobody else will even notice them smile. They aren't disgusting in any way.

I know, coco, you're right.

I mean, they're a natural occurance. I don't know why I'm still so hung up about them.

I started to get them at puberty then when I got pregnant with my son, pretty much 80% of my skin went to buggery.

It's really affecting my self-esteem - generally and even with my DP.

Wondering if anyone's tried Bio Oil with success...

Mummy Medals... that's nice.

A friend the other day asked if I wanted to have any other children - I only have one son. He basically said that I might as well because my "body's finished now, anyway!".

Comments such as this don't help the matter.

Ah well.

Wux, just relax - nobody but you will even notice. I have plenty of stretch marks/lumps that I would rather not admit to but I still live in a bikini and/or shorts at any opportunity in the summer and nobody has thrown up at the sight so far grin. Unfortunately, we all think ours are much more obvious than anybody else's when in truth nobody really pays any attention so just stop worrying and dress for yourself.

Emphasis: To bold a word, surround it with asterisks, so *hello* will display hello. For underline use _ , so _hello_ gives hello. For italics use ^, so ^hello^ gives hello. To strike out a word, surround it with two hyphens either side, so --dog-- gives dog

Links and smileys: To insert a smiley face, , type [smile] or :)
For a big grin, , type [grin] or :o
For a wink, , type [wink]
For a shocked face, , type [shock]

Links The simplest way to insert a link is to enter the link itself, surrounded by [[ and ]]. So if you type [[www.mumsnet.com]], the link will display as http://www.mumsnet.com. If you want your link to display text other than the web address itself, leave a space after the address then add the text before the ]]. So "Look at [[www.mumsnet.com this page]]", would display "Look at this page".
