I am returning the essential summer dress as well. The material is too flimsy and looks like it would lose it's shape after a wash. The space for boobs isn't big enough for mine so the empire line doesn't sit properly.
I was most disappointed in the cheap feel of it for the price, looks and feels mor3e like a £15 matalan summer dress.
Know what you mean DS1 was born beginning of september and it was sooo hot we had a heat wave on the day he was born it was unbareable, DD was april, DS2 was Dec and DS3 was may - so kind of spread out, i just feel hot and uncomfortable what ever time of year really!!!
Sparkles - Swore after DS1 was born i would never again be pregnant during summer (he was born end of August 2003) as it was dire......DS2 born in May.....DC3.....due end of frigging August....this means it will be a hot hot hot summer!!!
Cod - really - does it work??? <hopeful, simpering emoticon> BTW - glad to see that "Could you imagine Grace Kelly...." made it on to the unbelievers' thread!!!
Imaging self in summer dress - difficult as it's pouring rain, cold & miserable today like just about ever day since november - but would be my old blue standby which I pull on over head. Sleeveless, scoop-necked, knee-length, simple cotton dress! Goes in the wash, never needs ironing. Brilliant.
Right - have also ordered one of those skirts - £6!!!! (note to Cod: can you please start a "the best makeup to hide varicose veins during the summer" challenge please) I am happy that am party to a thread that is annoying people. my time on my sick bed has not been in vain!!
Seasider - yeah i saw GAP are doing maternity stuff but not sure if the stores near me will stock it as they never stock anything useful! Can you order it online?
I am a 10-12 ie a Next 10 and think I got the 10... but I did rip it due to fat arse so you may want to learn from my experience - they have No Lycra. They're good on returns iirc so you might want to get both and return the wrong one.
ooooh I like that Mrs B - whats the sizing like, compared to, say, Next? I lost a lot of weight before getting PG and I THINK I'm between 14-16...14 jeans fit(ted) so would you go 14 or 16?
Sparkles - I am looking for exactly that for myself, so will keep you posted! Lots of maxi dresses out there, but the shorter dress is still a bit of a mystery......
fishie, I am indeed an arse of shortness. I didn't get it in the end, but I did buy a fine cotton shirt from Kew - very dark blue and long line, looks great over a white vest and white cut-off jeans.
Got my essential summer boden dress today too. But was too short so am returning for LONG and I'm only 5ft 2 ffs! I am having it in red and 'sapphire'. Must I really sew up the pockets Cod?
i've got the essential sd on order in blue. lapin did you ever send for that 11 week wait tunic? i did and it is really nice, v long though would prob be a dress on you (believe you are a wee thing?)
I've ordered that polo dress from Boden - thanks LL will be perfect for my hols. Was so tempted by the long one button cardy in the Sale, but they only had it in a 12 and they warned it was big. I am a 10/12- ish so not sure.
Well, I have to say that when I went there most of the range had a very 80s feel - but the good bits iyswim (though maybe you are too young to remember...). I have to admit I have never given up my love for black and grey which I developed back then....
I saw great dress in COS btw a few weeks ago btw - grey cotton, sleeveless, drawstring waist. Only downside for me was that it was a bit too short - prefer to keep my knees covered at my advance years.
There are 2 things I want from Boden at the mo - washed hoody in green, and "fun" mini, also green - 6/8 week wait! FFS, I only got the catalogue last week!
Grapefruitmoon I think your statement "Can you imagine Grace Kelly with visible bra straps? Well then.... " should become the benchmark of all things stylish on MN, and just insert whatever subject we are talking about
Can you imagine Grace Kelly with capri pants and ballet pumps? YES, so that's okay
Can you imagine Grace Kelly wearing Crocs? Well then....
etc etc
Cod - in your role as feverishfashionablefish what do you think?
