FEB 08- Sore nips and no naps continued!!!!
(1001 posts)
hi all- sorry been away all day- one of those days- i am feeling much better today- although think i may be getting a bug/cold or somrthjing dont quite feel right iykwim-
Great to hear back from u Slacker- your pics are gorge-
Slimming world plan seems to be working here for me so far- but thursdays weigh in will prove it or not- theres quite alot to take in in the beggining though!!!
Egg- you are so nice but yeah i am happy with the pic of DH and i at last weeks wedding- and he rather nice!!!!lol

Basingstoke is about 2drive hours from me- but would love to come!!!!!
DD is doing well sitting but today had her first fall- DS was being a tad naughty as i was telling him off she nose dived onto the carpet- really did cry but is uninjured and was giggling at Hary moments later- (who was still be a little sod!!!!!)
speak soon- xxxx on new thread i imagine!!!
Egg- BTW its been great to have you posting so much its far too quiet without u!!!!lol
new thread up and running!
998 posts, someone has to do it and i don't know how!!!!
thanks for links to bowls, the £11 one is a bit pricey but it says it's guaranteed. Might go to babiesru us to get play pen so will look there first i think.
i don't mind where we meet but a tues or thurs will be best days for me from september.
Am having trouble getting pics on, so will get dh to resize them, i think resolution is too high.
Looked up mark foster... yummy body!
bean- david and colin on the same night would have been so impressive (but surely exhausting!), i think you're right - better to pace yourself!
I'm a bit wary of suction bowls as I saw a baby pull one off once - can you can imagine how quickly it went once it actually came away and, what happened to the contents of the bowl. Still, probably less messy than bowls being knocked off all the time. A bit double or quits really....

Not sure if Basingstoke would work for me until Ds1 goes back to nursery in September, as it's still 90 minutes away and I was
shattered after Thursday (fab though it was).

Could definitely do September though!
Count me on the Mark Foster leching please! I have also managed to dream about David Tennant and Colin Firth this week. On separate nights though - I'm not that kind of girl!
Any thread title that mentions poo gets my vote, really winds up the MN thread title snobs.
While I am at it maybe I should try to fill the thread all on my own, I do like to get the final post on a thread

. Although we need to get new thread up and running so we can link to it so nobody gets lost, and I don't want to do the new thread!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
But I have now just seen they are £11 per bowl. Perhaps not worth the risk that they might not stick either????????????????????????????
Basingstoke is pretty easy on train or car I think, but I would choose car unless we go somewhere impossible to park as means I don't have to get double buggy up steps, plus I tend to have to take so much stuff out with me (pukey babies = changes of clothes galore, plus obv two bottles each and milk for both etc) that car would be easier if it is doable.

and

at sleeping til 11am! I remember I shared a room with DS1 on hols last summer (went with just my sis and our kids and no husbands) and had never shared with him before. I was pg with DTs and was always terrified of getting up to wee in night (8 times) as he was such a light sleeper. If it was anything past 5am I had to lie there in agony or risk waking him up and him not getting back to sleep.
Had all three DCs in playpen yesterday. DS1 got in with DD, and then he asked if DS2 could come in too

. They looked so cute but not worth trying to get a pic as the blooming activity arch blocked out at least one of their heads from every angle.
As for suction bowls etc, it is all in the table itself, rather than the bowls. If you have a plastic / metal / mdf type table then things stick nicely, if you have a wooden table that might have an ever so slightly grainy surface then nothing sticks. They should stick well on something like a highchair tray but we don't have trays. I gave up having tried the mat you mentioned and also a suction bowl that comes with a suction spoon and fork (still use bowl every day but don't bother with suction bit).
Notice I have still not turned computer off

. I was supposed to be doing some online chores but have only managed one (ordering new toner for my picture printer so I can get the last 3 months worth of pic printed of DCs).
Am v

of tyacas shopping trip, fab bargains! am going to check out mark foster wheile is sort pix
wow, so much to catch up on... good to see some old faces popping back to say hello.
Something v wierd happened here...we all slept in 'til 11am!

. Moved ds's cot next to bed so i can hold his hand (trying to stop him from waking every half hour or so). he only woke a couple of times, i fed him about 8am, took him bed with us and the next thing i know it's 11am! of course getting up for a wee is nigh on impossible and involves som moves the olympic gymnatsics team would be proud of but at least ds slept better!
We're going to buy a play pen later (am v impressed by egg's) and want to get some bowls with a sucker on the botton...can anyone recommend good ones, bought a tommee tippee magic mat which is supposed to make any bowl stick, blardy useless!
If we went to basingstoke is train any better for you egg?
Am going to put pics on my profile of meet up
I have not turned computer off...
Leesmum I had a peek at your pics too. I love the one of DS1 with the dinosaur. Still also love the one entitled "my two favourite men" (hope your DH doesn't mind...).
And my final comment (for now), I saw on your recent threads list leesmum the "Mark Foster - would you" thread. My goodness, I have been harbouring indecent thoughts about this man for a few weeks since we have been glued to the tv every Friday night at 8pm watching Superstars. Thank goodness he is in a sport than means wearing Speedos is obligatory (note to girls from Thursday's meet up, some men can look good in Speedos while bending over).
Slacker just looked at your pics. Your children are very gorgeous. So I think you have have four sons and one daughter (sorry I know you have said before but my brain is a bit sieve-like).
Also presume that is you in the top pic? Aherm - a little bit stunning yourself! No wonder your children are lovely!
Hello Slacker! We mentioned you on Thursday at our meet up as we were trying to remember if you had four or five children and how well you seem to cope! Are you thinking of more then? I for one am most certainly not not not not ever having more

.
Tyaca we will rinse and return said Penguin at next meet up but must be honest, Jacob is obsessed with it and can make it squeak as he shakes it up and down with reckless abandon.
Must admit I did also think

at a night out with MIL. However I do tend to drink more when MIL is around as it helps me to get through the excruciating conversations!
Just heard that DH's cousin has had her baby after many years of trying and having used IVF

. Really chuffed for them. However they have chosen the single most bizarre name that I cannot post on here as the poor lad is surely the only person in the world with this name and if she is an MNer I don't want her to know I am being all judgey (they are both English born and bred so not just a name from a different culture or anything). I was

when I heard it this morning.
Basingstoke is indeed a good idea for a meet up. I think it is about 30 mins drive from here so I could maybe even manage it with DS1 as well (he can handle journeys of approx 30 mins without being sick). Having said that I cannot do it with DS1 as well as do not want to have to put DD in a sling all day and can't bring two pushchairs [grr].
I was always the
worst offender of buying clothes and then getting them out a week or two later and saying "this old thing". Also very much an offender at going Christmas shopping and getting ZERO purchases for anyone but me. Your clothes sound fab though Tyaca, I would still wear them and confess all though, rather than pass up a perfect opportunity for showing off my new outfit.
Everyone in my house asleep. Yes everyone. Well except me. DS1, DS2, DD and DH all in bed asleep

. Poor DH, he had to get up at 7:30 this morning....... (guess who was up at 6:15am).
Can't complain though, apart from a small meltdown from DD at 10pm, when I actually would have been cursed by the night nanny as I brought DD downstairs. She was so upset and hysterical as she couldn't breathe through her snotty nose, so she came for some decongesting and cuddles. She couldn't believe her luck when she saw her daddy
and the television in the middle of the night.
Wonder if it is too late to add some boxes of wine to my Tesco order that's coming tomorrow. Boxes are not chavvy!!!! They are what sensible people buy surely (must admit not ever bought one, but my parents used to and they are very far from chavvy, being ever so posh...).
Oh dear, I seem to be making up for lost time and my verbal diarrhea (sp) is happening again. Must turn off computer, must turn off computer....
was it basingstoke that was half way between waterloo and winchester??

. i was thinking that any time out-of-towners are in london// down south you should def announce on the thread so we can arrange a meet up to coincide.
egg - the squeaky penguin is esther's - consider it a courting gift to jacob

.
bean - did not go OUT with MIL. that'd be one step too far. she came here and we made good work on a box [chav emoticion] of wine. she apparently felt fine this morning

. but then she wasnt up at baby oclock
dh has gone out on a run and i have just retried on all my clothes. they look great and i really want to wear them today for friends visiting. CANT see myself however explaing to dh why i spent twice as much on myself as on him... so you guys will have to indulge me here as i boast about my TKMaxx French Connection jeans from £70 to £30 which are a bit Katie-Holmes-Flarey AND a Calvin Klein lovely summer dress for £20 with an original price tag of £180... oh i wish i could wear them.
Hi everyone, dropping in to say hello as my littlest boy is 6 months old today! He is still totally delightful, and as an added bonus he sleeps a good part of the night in his moses basket, so not too much sleep deprivation here. He's still fully breastfed but we're going to start solids imminently - he's already had bits of till receipt etc go right through him so I know he can cope!
He's had his first holiday (camping in Cornwall), his first trip to London (I took the other kids to the theatre and daddy walked him up and down the South Bank for several hours!), and even his first trip to Alton Towers the other day! He rolls and can move himself around without actually crawling, I think for the first time ever I'm going to have to buy a playpen just to keep him safe in our chaotic house. Except the cats will probably take refuge in it...His brothers and sister all still adore him and there's always someone around to play with him.
I put a couple of pics on my profile, the top one is the most recent but he decided not to look at the camera.
Anyone else thinking about more babies??
Egg my Ds1 is VERY cockey at the moment but also very funny x
Yep was thinking that could be an option. OK the train journey might not be fun, mainly because I think I would have to stay in the doorwell bit as can't take pushchair into train but can't put both babies on lap, but tbh that's not a problem as at least if they were yelling I wouldn't be peeing so many people off, and you lot did the train (you Bean with TWO small children) to come and see me. Also at least at Waterloo you get off the train and there are no steps, so I would only have steps right at the beginning of the journey as no steps when I got back.
However, having said all this, it would of course have to be a Thursday again as would not want to do train with DS1 as well, and this would mean I would need to be back in good time to collect DS1, but if we are meeting at Waterloo we could prob meet earlier as not as far for you lot to go?
Sorry. Rambling on here....
We know no penguin fitting that description.

Egg - would a meet up v near Waterloo be possible for you? There is a Giraffe (v child/baby friendly restaurant) nearby that happens to be on the South Bank so good for strolling/finding a patch of grass to all sit on. Totally understand if that's not possible (although we could always send Gill down to help you on the journey?

)
Oh no I didn't mean that leesmum

. He just sounds really cheeky like my DS1 except older so he can express his cheekiness more!
Count we will definitely "count" you in [ho ho] if we sort another meet up, although I think I might be pushing it to have it here again!
BTW, the house was left in probably a tidier state than it was before you all arrived (Gill even cleaned my garden table folks). All I had to do was throw a few paper plates in the bin and throw a few forks in the dishwasher.
Also, I have gained a fabulous penguin who squeaks when he is shaken. It must be either Tyaca's or Beany's as have checked with Ginger and Gill already.
Egg i think "Cockey" is the word you're looking for lol
Morning Egg - personally I think a host who offers something sparkling ahead of tea/coffee always goes down as tops in my book!!! I'm up near High Wycombe/Reading but Winchester is really easy to get to so if you guys meet up that way again I shall defo come and join you.
Beany hillarious we must have that title
Forgot to say leesmum your DS1 and his bumhole story made me fall of my chair laughing

. I would love to meet him, he sounds such a cheeky little man!
I have had no computer! Well only in eve and not felt like turning it on the minute DH gets home as feel a bit antisocial!
OK so firstly I want to say I am very embarrassed that you are saying I was a good host etc as I failed to offer anyone tea, coffee, water, anything other than cava really (think I did manage to get some orange juice out).
It was lovely though, and so nice to finally meet a few of you, but we did say how nice it would have been to have met more (although no room in my house for more!).
I was very lucky as we stayed at my house, so I could put DTs to bed and relax a bit. I then sat there stuffing my face and not helping anyone out, Gill was, as everyone has said, a star with the No1 Beanboy (who himself was a star, he is so handsome and so lovely). Luckily we had lots of DS1's toys around to keep him happy, but I know my DS1 would have still been whingeing about me talking to other people for too long.
So Egg goes out to meet Ginger and instead of saying "hello I am Egg" she says "Hello oooh you look very young"

. She really does though, she must have had her girls at age 12 or something!
I also felt guilty as I have eaten 8 banana and pistachio cakes since you all left

. That evening I had half a bottle of cava and 4 banana cakes for supper

.
Sarah how are you feeling today? Hope you are ok? Are you just feeling knackered after working too hard. Hope your weightloss is going well, although I have to admit you still look gorgeous in your pics (with your gorgeous DH!).
I am supposed to be tidying a bit before friends coming for coffee, but wanted to catch up first.
Count where are you based? I tried to look at your profile but it crashed me out of MN so I daren't try again.
No ideas for witty thread titles but lots suggested that I like!
Must go now, hopefully DH will fix PC tomorrow so I am not without it all of next week.
Oh, and finally a BIG thank you to all the ladies who came here on Thursday for making a huge effort to come miles and miles while I sat on my bottom doing nothing. It was so very much appreciated.
Oh beansprout I love the title, made me roar!!!
I like the gymnastics, managed to watch a little bit this morning. Bit of a pain that most of the live coverage is in the middle of the night.
Looking forward to finally getting to spend an entire evening with dp. We've had one of those weeks where one or tuther is always out. Me Belly dancing and watching Mama Mia (which if you haven't seen yet you have to, I haven't laughed so much for ages, absolutely superb!!!) and dp football and boys nights in. We're gonna start watching series 6 pt 1 of Sopranos which I'm soooo excited about!! Saw the trailer for HSM3 and can't wait to see it - obviously so I can take ds1

and not to perv over Troy Bolton

Happy birthday to your dp tyaca and glad I'm not alone in hiding clothes and explaining them later!!!
Hope everyone's got lots of lovely plans for the weekend, suns out here so fingers crossed for some nice weather.
Morning
Sarah - hope you are feeling better today.
Tyaca - am impressed with your shopping and that you went drinking with your MIL! As for the olympics, I like the horse mincing (dressage). Who first worked out you could get a horse to do that anyway?

Count - am v impressed with your lo's food! Ds2 will grab rice cakes/bagels/bread from me and munch but is resolutely
not interested in fruit or veg

. Hey, it's only day 3 so I'm not going to worry to much just yet!! Maybe on day 5....

Ginger - I'm really not of any literary bent but it's v nice of you to think so!

Truth is, I'm just a git.

Egg - where are you?!!!!

Hi to everyone else!

How about, "Never mind my wrinkly tum, look what's come out of my baby's bum?!"
Ahhh it sounds like you all had a lovely time at the meet-up, is this the first time some of you have met? I bet you all feel like "proper" friends now that you've met in real life

i'm very jealous

Count your lo is doing very well with his food isn't he? lots of variety there, we tried lo with fish and cheese sauce and he was NOT happy! will try again in a few weeks.
Sarah hun are you feeling a bit happier today? lets hope so x
lljkk i too have a lardy arse as well as saggy tits and a crinky tum(now there's a thread title!

) Yes my lo is also very active at the moment and is grabbing everything in sight, and he has also found his widge and keeps pulling at it(ouch) so we have been putting little underpants on him, it looks really cute!
Tyaca happy birthday to your DH x I have also bought clothes and stashed them away, why do we do that??? Will you be watching the olympics and did you all see yummy Mark Foster carrying the flag for GB yum yum!!!
I like queen of poo for new thread title and my only contribution is,
Feb 08 watch out!watch out! there's a baby about.
Have a lovely sat everyone x
lol at parnsips and poo. and also at lljkk's getting lardy arses down the gym. i have just weighed myself and not only have i managed to put on every single one of those four pounds i lost, i've added one more just for good measure. gah.
today is dh'sb-day and we're being invaded later by his oldest mates, their six year old twins and two whippets. i suspect that i would be feeling slightly better about the onslaught if i wasnt more than a bit hungover from a rather drunken time last night with MIL

. went into town yesterday to get dh's present and managed to spend quite a bit on myself ... how does that always happen? tis same at xmas. i have hidden the clothes and will pretend i bought them at some point next week!
ginger - ok from me to put up the pics. count i did smile at the looking forward to lunch hours, much the same as princessllama's excitement at a train journey sans kids.
i didnt know people
made elmer outfits. that in itself is quite sinister. was he literally made out of patchwork?? that'd be some seamstressing
omg gill, the ceremony is the dullest bit of the whole games! i think i'd even rather watch the gymastics bit where they roll balls up the arms before doing a somersault while holding a ribbon

. i am really looking forward to the atheletics, diving and the proper gymnastics.
leesmum your poor ds1 and his "bumhole." getting school uniform always seems to make the summer holidays seem like they're coming to an end. i guess when you're a kid you quite look forward to going back to school tho'...
merlypuss its great to hear from you and your boys look lovely. how many grey suits did you manage to ram at canary wharf?? on way to meet up on weds i ended up at stations in SW London a bit too close to rush hour in both morning and afternoon and had forgotton how stressed everyone is. i am v impressed at how well you sound like you're doing. the mum of twins how's coming to stay with us this weekend (also her first kids) really cant remember a single thing about the first year and reckons she slipped into quite a low just trying to cope. perhaps she should have tried commuter bashing as a way to vent frustrations...
i have no bright title ideas. and i have been trying, trust me

. All i got is: Feb 08 Babies Rolling On The Floor. Which Is Strange Cause We're Fairly Sure We Left Them on the Bed/Cot/Chair. or also on flying babies theme i thought Bump and the Baby's Gone. Which i thought sounded a bit Cillit Bang but actually just sounds a bit more sinister every time i think of it....
Hi everyone, hope everyone is surviving the weather!!
So jealous you all met up, will have to try and organise myself for next time.
Weaning is going well here and ds2 seems to be picking up the pace. I'm using Annabel Karmels book. We've now had some chicken dishes and fish dishes for lunch and then veg dishes at teatime, haven't started brekkie yet. Fave so far seems to be cod in cheese sauce - can't think of anything worse personally!! I've been cooking up meals and then freezing into cubes so it doesn't take too much room up in the freezer. He's jus about eating 5-6 cubes and then a pudding. Much prefer Little Stars fromage frais to petit filous and the hipp organic fruit desserts are great.
On the 'under attack' ds2 seems to have the uncanny ability to grap the small hairs at the back of my neck and my god it hurts!!
Egg - things sound like they're settling down so fingers crossed it continues
Rozz - ds2 had a sore rash under his neck and we used sudocrem - cleared it up in a day, it's like miracle cream!!
So weeks are just flying by at the mo. Have installed a reward chart on our fridge for ds1 and it's actually working. He has to complete certain basic tasks through the day and then some behaviour ones and he gets to choose a sticker which he seems to love. Did have a bit of a nightmare today tho - he bit ds2 really hard on his hand whilst I was checking dinner and poor ds2 absolutely screamed the place down!!
Meeting my dept boss at work in a couple of weeks to discuss my return. Since I've left, I've had a change of boss, change of office and my cover left so basically nothing is the same!!! He's great though and I'm gonna be totally honest about what I want to do. Not planning on going back till mid dec so plenty of time to work myself into a frenzy about what a bad mother I am abandoning my children etc

or rather how I'm gonna have my hair cut, what new clothes I will need and all the wonderful things I'll do with my lunch hour

!!!!
Poor ds1 last weekend, we went out for the day and he randomly threw up all in the car. It's only just stopped smelling!!! Had to scrub the seats twice. Think it was just a bug but it was like something out of the exorcist!!
New title options??
Parsnips & Poo - what goes in must come out??
Sleepless Nights - whatever they're on we need some??
Six Months Down - mobility on its way??
argggghhhhh- feling annoyed and dont know why-
your meeet up sounded so fun,
will check in tomorrow when i am feeling a little more friendly!!!lol -
New thread title- OMG where did 6 months go??????
Next thread title suggestion?
Get our Lardy bottoms off the sofa and down the gym to lose the pregnancy weight -- or at least have the energy to chase our babies about
Hum, don't have anything but mundane news to report. If I put baby on all 4s he rocks a bit and has managed to scooch backwards (much to his alarm, weanh! Ma, you're getting further away from me!). He's moving around a fair bit, really, between rolling and creeping.
He lunges for everything, touch it, touch it, touch it! So, all normal baby stuff.
I do browse this thread regularly, but somehow I missed the fact there was a meetup (not that I would have gone, so am not moaning). Where in UK was it?
Hope we're not all getting too wet...
mmm...perhaps it does say lots about us (oh no, that so sad!). Am useless at names for things, so will leave it to you guys.

will be too scared to put pics on soon!
Beansprout- you've gone all literary on us!! all those allusions to texts! And Elmer too! You're certainly widely read!

Do you have a secret past as an english teacher?
And really LOL at Elmer story, it's like a scene from a bad sitcom.
Gill, yes she was only little (about 2 i think, so probably old enough to have known better) but it was sooo tempting to say 'Nah...student binge drinking, out of control etc etc....!'
Where's egg today?
Am having trouble making sense today, internet shop has fried my brain, i'm wondering if it would have been easier to have gone to the shops afterall the time it took!
I quite like "Poo in the Bath" as opposed to "Sex in the City" but I can see that it doesn't really say much (that is good) about us as a group!!
It's very quiet on here today!!
Tis true, we
are all gorgeous!! Gill was an absolute star and really helped me with ds1. I could so easily have spent the day on the sidelines, trying to manage 2 kids but she made sure that didn't happen at all. (whisper, she even took him to the toilet and wiped his bum which is far, far beyond the call of duty!

).
Gingermumi has a portrait in an attic somewhere

, ongoing respect to Egg for managing twins and STILL looking so glamorous

, tyaca makes a mean banana muffin (ds1 is still asking after the rest of his, er, reader, I ate it

) and has a brilliant sense of humour and I just had a fab day. Really did me good to go on an adventure and get out of my comfort zone. I was exhausted when I got back but it was wl and truly worth it!
Today we went to the local library for an "Elmer and me" event. I thought this would be an interesting/stimulating/fun hour where ds1 would be encouraged to draw/discuss/make something involving the colourful patchwork elephant. But no, this being Brent , it was a shockingly p*ss poor bloke in a costume that wandered in mid way through a story. Some of the younger ones cried and ds1 just had the good taste to look bored. He did at least ask me who was inside the Elmer. We left shortly after that....
She is gorgeous everyone - looks a lot like those glamorous daughters of hers.
Was a lovely day and we didn't get rained on! Most annoyingly my camera stopped working for the day but hopefully you'll be able to see Ginger's pics.
Had a lazy day today, curled up on the sofa watching the olympic ceremony with DS.
We're going to need a new thread title soon ladies - any suggestions? The only, slightly dubious one coming out of yesterday's meet-up was Queens of Poo (Feb 08). Any advances on that?
(Now Ginger I really hope that DD1's poo in the bath was a number of years ago!)

I don't think so, but thanks, feel all warm and fuzzy now(not because of the usual milk, sick, nappy combo either).
It was a fab day, the babies and mummies are all gorgeous!! I'll put some photos on providing it's ok with the others.
Had to LOL at poo in bath story, dd1 did that once, she was soooo proud!
wow- sound like you had a wondergul day- Well done Egg- you are so amazing!!!!!!
the meetup lowdown. everything you need to know... the lovely egg has mastered the knack of making hosting while looking after twin babies look
easy. i put this down to her secret stash of cava

. gingermumi is
gorgeous and i'm fairly sure she's not telling the truth about the age of her dd's.... i shall be emailing bean on an ongoing and possibly slightly stalker-eqsue basis for parenting tips after meeting her wonderful ds1 and gill has that nuts knack for always seeing everything that needs to or could be done from other peoples' point of view, including 4 year olds (or nearly 4 year olds- sry bean cant remember exact age).
lovely time, picnic'd outside in egg's garden. gill tested the stability of our glucose tolerance with a cake that made my jaw fizz and may well have sent bean into a sugar crash on train home. i had my first big trip out with a buggy as opposed to a sling and both dd and i survived. lots of stairs to be negotiated at clapham junction station but helpful people helped. dd celebrated her return home with a mammoth poo .... in the bath. luckily it was dh's turn to do bathtime

. bless him scooping it out in his sports kit, he was on his way out to play footie and had changed into the gear before bath to save time....
Being a 1st time mum of twins is hard. But fun. You really do hit the floor running.
The boys get on well on the whole and they are very aware of each other (over the past 2 months or so)and we have broken up some good rows over toys. Weaning is going well and Isaac has discovered a taste for toast and cries the house down if you take it away. Trouble is he wants mine too.
hello all- well how was the meet up ladies- i bet you had a real good time-
Wish i was there too

Well today have joined slimming world as going alone is not really working any more- the class seemed nice- will def be going back i am so determind to slim down now!!!
Anyhow other than that an eneventful day here- off to work now will be back on later to read all about the infamous meet up!!!!!
Hi MERLYPUSS its great to see you on here again

Your boys are gorgeous, how do they get on with each other, and how are you finding it being a first time mum with twins!?
I hop you all have a great time at the meet up today, i'm very jealous, i'm sure you will have a good laugh. The sun is shining here so i hope you get a dry day at least.
Beany well done you for still exc BF, i think as long as you are both happy with it then carry on for a while longer, there's no law that says you HAVE to give food at 6 months.
We are all fine here, i went to get Ds1's new school trousers yesterday and when i took his jeans off he must have put his underpants back on the wrong way around because it looked like he had a thong on

his little bum cheeks we on show for everyone to see, it was hilarious i couldn't stop laughing and he just said "what you laughing at my bum hole for"!!!
Hope everyone else is well x
Off to Canary Wharf tomorrow for DTS to see DPs work mates. Should be interesting. See how many city types I can ram with he double buggy

(photos on profile of my big grown up boys - aah, cute)
off to work but wanted to post in case i dont get chance later- have a fantastic meet up tomorrow- and dont forget ur camera's ladies!!!
spk later
rozzy- we swear by sudocrem in our house, we even have a tub for the cats! (no lie!! the vet recommended it when one of them had a sore bum!!)- it's brilliant stuff.
Good to see you merleypuss, lots off us aren't technically febbers either ds arrived 4th jan so he's def not a feb babe or anywhere near! keep in touch!
Tyaca is lo ok? probably seems worse than it is!
Looking forward to meet up tomorrow
hello all and v nice to hear from dartmoor and merlypuss.
bessie - dd's a bit the same. she's ok held by other people if we're nearby but when we got out of sight, she'll start crying. mil pointed it out and she's right - i guess dd has led a v sheltered life so far, i am determined to start doing loads more stuff with her now that we've moved. dh is like you tho' - he's v happy to be so wanted!
dd's rougher side is limted to hair pulling and gumming. i admitt i'm impressed by her ambition. it doesnt occur to her that dh;s forearm is the same size as her, she grabs is with both hands and does her damndest to get it into her mouth

ginger - at least your mumpty moment happened in the pursuit of the greater welfare of babykind! today already we managed to catch dd's skin in the car seat buckle clip. i've done this once before but this time worse and its broken the skin

havent really had a chance to catch up properly - been away for a couple of days but will do so later. need to get cleaning as we left this place in a mess when we went. now that he's a dad, dh is insisting on starting car journeys at 6am so we rushed out of here.
Hi too to Dartmoor/lailas mum- glas you are doing well, thanks for comin back to join us hope u stick around-
i am off to bed now as i am seeing double!!!! have had a busy day hanging wallpaper- looking after the DC's and work this evening- i am exhausted!!!!lol
Night night
Hi Merley- how are you babies doing- its good tyo hear from you again- we were only saying last week about how many we dont see on here now-
Please come abck to join us!!!! if of course u have the time-
Hi everyone hope all well xxxx
Hiya girlies. Thought I'd pop in to say hi to you all. I was originally at Feb lady too but DTs turned up early just making Jan by the skin of their teeth.
Hope you are all well. I have no hope of catching up on what I have missed but will try and make amends from now on.
Hi everyone!
Lucy - lol at your calpol and bf comment. Hope your dd's rash disappears soon.
Hi dartmoor - glad things going well.
Gill - lol at your lo watching the entire washing cycle! You might have to be careful when he's on the move though - he might decide to put things in the machine to wash if he's fascinated by it!
Alkar - I'm glad my ds isn't the only one who keeps their new shoes on their pillows! He has always loved getting new shoes - he said to the lady in the shop yesterday that he was going to try all 3 pairs on then make his 'decision'. She said it was usually the girls that were fussy. I'm sure everything will be fine with your job but it's natural to worry.
Ginger - you're definitely not a bad mummy. What was the other babys mum doing when it was trying to touch the light?
Egg - it sounds like you have a fab routine now. I'm still lucky if ds3 sleeps for any more that 30/45 mins at a time during the day. I'm going to find it quite hard when the other 2 go back to nursery/school as he'll probably sleep when I drop them off, when I pick ds2 up from nursery and again when I pick ds1 up from school so I probably won't get any time in the house with him sleeping so it'll be hard to get things done. Hopefully once he's got over whatevers bugging him at the moment I might be able to put him down now and again!
I took lo to be weighed today - he's 17lbs 5 so right on the 50th centile line. I wanted to ask the hv what cream to use on his neck under his chin as it's really rashy and red (due to the constant chewing and drooling I think). Anyway she told me to use sudocrem so I'll see if that works. I'm hoping for a better night tonight after the 4 feeds last night but he's been grumpy all day so not too confident

. On a positive note I'm going to see my friend from work tomorrow so the kids can play with her 2 and I'm off to Edinburgh on Saturday to see 2 friends that I trained with - one whose baby is 6 weeks younger than mine - so really looking forward to that too
Ooohhh I am missing being able to post on here every day all day. DH still not fixed computer so just popping on quickly in eve.
Dartmoormama welcome back. Everyone says my DS2 is really big but he is less than 18lbs so 21lbs is really quite a good size! DS2 is wearing a mixture of 3-6 month stuff (only t-shirts really still fit) and 6-9 month stuff.
DD, on the other hand, is still mainly in 0-3 month stuff, with a few 3-6 month things mainly because they are summer dresses and I am determined to get some wear out of them before it is winter again! She can even still fit into a few newborn things. Now that I know she is healthy I quite like the fact she is so petite, it makes her even cuter (she is esp cuter now she sleeps and doesn't cry 80% of the day).
DS2 gets rashy round his face esp mouth area when he eats, but it goes away quickly and I haven't managed to pinpoint it. I thought it was if I ever used a baby wipe on his face but definitely not that. He even gets it when he just has formula so as it doesn't seem to bother him I am not worrying.
Lucy an all over rash is probably a bit more worrying, although both mine have had little pinprick type rashes all over recently, esp on tummy, but it definitely seems to be heat rash for them, and they are not red, just a bit spotty!
Still no sitting here. DD sits beautifully on my lap where she is kind of in the groove between my legs, but neither can sit on their own on floor. I think DS2 might be able to but he just leans forward always to eat his toes. They are v funny when on the floor together as he keeps trying to eat DDs toes. He is also a right little climber and pincher. He grabs my bingo wings and pinches v hard, and also got my mum's "turkey neck" which she was not amused about!
We have had a lovely day, although nothing outstanding. DS2 slept from 6:20pm last night to 6:55am this morning

without a sound, and DD slept from 6:50pm to 6:40am with only a brief squeak, so that put me in a good mood. Then we all went out to the swings this afternoon and DS1 had a great time splashing in the puddles. Then we bumped into two local mums I know also at the swings, so DS1 was delighted as he could play with their children as he knows them quite well now. Came home happy and all three ate huge suppers which always makes me happy!
I don't want to jinx it but I think the night nanny getting DD to sleep better at night has helped the day routine as (touch wood) they sleep about 9am for an hour and about 12:15pm for two hours, which is really helping me knowing what I am doing and when I can plan to leave the house / feed them etc.
Sorry hope I do not sound dull / smug / gloaty, just so relieved after months of crappy days. Bet if I take that test again now I wont be scoring 16

.
Alkar I too would be worried about
me if I was in your situation. I loved my old boss and got on really well with him so if that was him I would be worried about him as well, but any other bosses in the past I wouldn't have really cared, just be concerned for my own job. I know they have to give you your same job back or one identical (or something) and I am sure it will be ok but still something you don't need to be worrying about.
Wondering now what has happened to your boss though!
Right, am also very very excited about our meet up on Thursday. I don't know whether i am looking forward to meeting the mums or the babies most!
Found out today that my boss left work 10 days ago and hasn't been back since. Nobody knows why - except the big bosses, all very hush hush. Bit worried how this affects me going back and the hours I want to work etc (I know very selfish), going to work tomorrow to see if I can suss it out.
Rozzy - my friends sister-in-law goes to bed with her new shoes on her pillow now and she's well into her 30s!
Nice to see you dartmoor!
Lucy, dare i say it.... could it be teething? we tend to put every snuffle and rash donw to that here but if the're otherwise ok it seems the only answer. Did laugh at calpol, bf comment

Had ds weighed today 21 lb 71/2oz, he is also in 9-12 months clothes(especially vests, as he is so long).
Took him to a baby sensory session run by health visitors, he quite liked it but it was a bit 'sensory overload' tbh. And (bad mummy alert)i tried to stop another baby from touching a light that was hot and ds fell backwards and hit his head - he was sitting on the floor, sometimes he can sit for a while, other times he flops backwards. He is not a happy munchkin right now. Bit of a dilemma that one, i guess i should have just let the other baby touch it and find out...mmmm...bit of a no win situation
hi dartmoormama - nice to see you back!
wd on the weightloss bean - both you and egg now beaten target weight

.
also wd rozzy. It is so cute hearing about your babies getting ready for school!
DS sat and watched an entire cycle of the washing machine today so i got loads done. I also discovered that orange peel quarterss are great for teething however he came up in a rash around his mouth so guess I'd better not do it again.
Lucy hope your LO becomes less red soon!
Hello everyone still on here.
Its been months since i posted, just don't get time. I have name changed I was Lailasmum-since I am not just laila's mum any more I decided to change names. I spotted this thread in the active conversations today so though I would drop in.
I have read the last couple of pages, all sounds very familiar. Toben is in one of those scrambly babies, forever atempting to scramble up me to grab some part of my anatomy, mostly chewing my chin but he also like to chew my lips! He's learnt to sit unaided and doing lightening fast rolling-he's definitely more physical than my dd was. He is also going through a bit of a phase where he is odd with people. Loves me, happy with my mum but fidgity and unsettled with DH who he doesn't see much because he works away in the week. If he is with him he likes me to be in the room.
I've been giving him a little bit of solids for a few weeks after he started nicking my food, ended up doing quite a mixture of puress and BLW type techniques to see what would work, seems like he prefers the BLW style. Likes big things to grab and munch.
Toben is also pretty big, he's wearing 9-12month clothes, he is really long. I think he's about 18lb now.
Since I last posted we struggled with Thrush for a few months, was making breast feeding hard but eventually got rid of it. He also went through a really nice phase of sleeping well but that feels like its in the distant past, he doesn't sleep a lot now. Just a couple of 10-20 minute sleeps in the day so I'm feeling a bit knackered.
I am going to make a point of coming on here now. Its nice to hear about all the babies when the last time I posted on this thread must have been birth announcement time.
sallyforth - your pics are lovely, he is such a cutie!
DD2 has had a terrible rash since saturday which I thought was a heat rash at first. It ended up spreading over her entire body so I took her to the docs yesterday, predictably they were useless.
Despite her being fine apart from the rash they advised giving her calpol to which I replied that she hated it. The doc suggested sneaking it into her drinks. I said 'Well, she's breastfed and although I do really like calpol I don't think that will work'. The nurse guy in with us thought this was very amusing, the doctor didn't. They also had to ask if she's usually bright red.
In the end they had idea what was happening and just said to bring her back if she got worse. Useless doctors. At least DD2 is her normal happy self even if she is bright red!
Awww rozzy thats sooo cute!!!
Just updating my weight.
Lo up 4 times last night - something is definitely bothering him

.
Got ds1 school shoes yesterday. He was very chuffed with them - when I went in to check on him last night he had them in bed with him.

Hi
Gill - back to work in November but the control freak in me just wanted to get this sorted as it's not the sort of thing I want to leave to chance/the last minute. It's great not having to fret about it any more.

I only lose weight now when I am ill. Fortunately, I seem to be ill on a regular basis at the moment!!

It's going to rain all day which has scuppered the plans we had for meeting friends in the park. Am not at all anxious about how the day is going to pan out, no, not at all, that's not bothering me in the slightest, no worries on that front.....
After about ten weeks' trying I have lost a pound!
Also had a lie-in - 9am - although there were three night-time feeds.
Bean are you back to work soon?
Glad to hear I'm not the only one black & blue. LO has gone into overdrive with his energy levels. Today's trick is trying to launch himself head-first out of my arms. Have been walking him a bit and he's taking some proper steps!(Holding onto my hands) Am very proud and give him a big cuddle every time

Hi all, nice to read your news.
Bean - I so empathise with the 'hi I don't know you at all but can you look after my baby' scenario! But you will get to know them pretty fast!
I am at the gym at the moment and waiting patiently for DD1 to finish her workout. I only managed a few laps of the pool!
I am trying to abstain from giving LO the boob at all today - she reluctantly takes a bottle when she is desperate!
Gotta go - DD1 is here!
Sally love the puppy analogy, ds is boistrous too! My mum (bless her says it's 'cos he's a boy, 'and they are different you know'), i think it's prob because they start to work out abouyt their world about now so it's all v exciting!
Bessie, agreen with beeny, they have just started to differentiate between people. DS alawys cries when we see MIL but i think thats 'cos she puts her face up too close to his (i've trained him well, she makes me want to scream too

). It gets worse for some babies towards 8/9 months, dd1 was ok with others but dd2 wasn't.
Fab lie in alkar

Ds was ok with just dummy again last night but i still have to settle him. Only woke once though, so i think all the times i have fed him has just prolonged the process. He will have to move to his own room soon otherwise i think he will get too 'knowing' and he wont adjust to it well. Am putting it off because at the moment dd1 sleeps in his room when she comes over and if he's in there i'll have to clear out the study and buy a sofa bed! I think that could be this weekend's job, want to get it done soon before work starts again and i have no life at all!
I was woken up at 6.30 this morning by the cat crying on the landing, went to see what was going on and he had brought what I think was a bird in (didn't get close enough to see, I'm a complete wimp when it comes to things the cats brought in). Went back to bed and shut my door. Heard DH get up at 7 (we have seperate rooms because of his
bad snoring) so I rang him on my mobile and asked him to sort it! Decided to get up and feed DS anyway, fed him then went back to sleep thinking I'd get about an hour. Woke up at 10.40 with DS still asleep! Feel great for a sleep but then realised I was meant to be going for a walk with another mum at 11, haven't overslept for years and to top it all, I'm still not dressed

Gill I read that you were supposed to wean on veg first after we had been giving DS fruit for ages, oh well he'll probably develop my sweet tooth anyway. Also, my legs are covered in bruises where I get kicked when he's feeding!
Bessie - they are just at the age where they are learning the difference between people they know and those they don't know so well and a lot of them will have a preference about that. I would just make sure you stay close by and can be seen until lo is ok with you going anywhere. Think of it as a warm up for separation anxiety phase (where all hell breaks loose when you leave the room!!

)
I meant to ask, LO has burst into tears 3 times when people have held her. She quiets down when I pick her up but she never had a problem with other people holding her before; has anyone else experienced this, and do you have any solutions? She doesn't do it all the time. I have tried getting other people to hold her more, so she gets used to it. I don't want her to be one of those babies who only wants her mummy (although it would be nice for a little while

All advice appreciated. ta.
Egg - if your dcs are car sick, make sure they eat properly before getting in the car. I know it seems strange, but if they haven't eaten enough, the car will make them sicker.
That must be tough beany - dh looks after kids when I'm at work but I have still cried each time I've gone back from mat leave. Needs must though.
Gill/Ginger - we're planning on putting lo in his own room soon and dh said this morning I should try ignoring him for a bit to see if he'll go back to sleep but we'll see how that one pans out

. He's got a bit of a cold at the moment so I think that's causing him to be up more. Doesn't help that ds2 was up coughing and spluttering for 1.5 hours last night but refusing to take any medicine until I promised to get into bed with him afterwards - luckily we took him out of a junior bed and into a single bed 2 weeks ago so at least there was plenty of room. Gill I've had a sweet tooth lately too.
Well ds2 managed to wack ds1 over the head with a rake yesterday. He said it was an accident but we didn't see it happening so he was sent to his room anyway. Ds1 is still so honest that he still tells us when he's been bad but ds2 is a bit smarter/devious. Anyway it was bleeding and there's an impressive bump but he's fine. I've lost another lb this week but lo is on my knee and I think he wants feeding so I'll update the list later.
Lol at "under attack" but it does feel like that sometimes. I wish I could find a way of smoothing those nails down too. Do you think anyone would notice if he started wearing mittens in August?!!

Egg - I feel better now but I am absolutely exhausted. Had a 2 hour nap yesterday and have been going to bed at 9.30 but am still shattered. Having ds1 at home every day may be playing a part in that too!!

Ds2 is still on b/milk only (is nearly 28 weeks). I keep thinking I will start him on food soon but he's not showing any signs of being ready and is still happy just on milk so I'm leaving it for now and will just see how he goes.
We are off to the childminders this morning to finalise everything. It doesn't feel much better this time around - "hello, I don't really know you but could you look after my baby please?"
I am def under attack from my boisterous baby! He likes to "climb" up towards my face, and try and eat my chin and my cheeks. He also likes to grab onto me and hold tight - any handy fold of skin or bit of hair will do!
Honestly, it is like having a puppy or something

.
I think it's just one of those developmental phases as they start to learn they are separable from you - LO has also started protesting when I leave the room, I think that's linked to it.
Egg - I think formula gives them everything they need at this age! We are basically having about one or two small jars of hipp organic a day; he usually has some of a fruity one and some of a savoury one. I would give him more but he just has enough and won't take any more. (Unless I make his favourite porridge when we will get through an entire banana, several prunes and a tablespoon of porridge) I think it's way too complicated to try and cover all the nutritional bases at this stage when he's eating such a small volume (and it makes my little brain hurt to think about such complicated things).
Rozzy I think I've given LO a very sweet tooth with my ridiculous chocolate intake while b/f. It says in our baby bible to introduce vegetables before fruit so as not to encourage sweet tooth. Oops.
Ginger - w/d on getting LO back to sleep. I really wish mine still took dummy! We keep meaning to try and not feed him when he wakes up at night (average twice a night) But at 2 in the morning principles are out the windown when I can feed him and be asleep again in 10 minutes or have him scream for an hour otherwise. We are thinking about moving DP to the front room for a few nights whiel we try and crack it but won't be much fun for me!
Leesmum - your life seems so organised!

Does anyone else feel under attack from over boisterous babies? Malc is so rough and almost savage the way he tries to eat me the whole time. He hangs on to my hair with both hands or pinches the skin on my neck or arms and twists, meanwhile gumming ferociously on my jawbone or nose and it really really hurts. I don't know if it's hunger or teething or what; he just doesn't do it to anyone else. Have got these really sore patches where he scratches and little bruises all over my arms. Anyone else have this? Hope he gets over it before teeth!!!
Lees mum- LO stopped sleeping through about 3 months ago. Tried not to feed him last night and he seemed ok with just putting dummy back in (apart from kicking cot for about 10 mins at 2am!). Will try again tonight.
Have stuck with farleys afterall as aptamil was poisonous (apparently seemed to be to ds!! Worse than farleys!).
Have houseful off offspring and boyfriend at mo, so had better go and rescue dh!
Leesmum that's quite a breakfast your lo has!
We're not onto breakfast yet. Today I gave Andrew 3 cubes of parsnip (mixed with a tonne of milk because it was so thick and gloopy) and he ate around half. At teatime he had 3 cubes of peach, half a banana and about a tablespoon of fromage frais and ate it all. When we're out he'll eat a whole jar of the hipp banana yoghurt breakfast and would eat his own body weight in their blueberry and banana yoghurt. He's definitely got a sweet tooth but I suppose bm and formula are quite sweet so it's understandable that babies have a sweeter tooth.
Egg I don't think you need to worry about protein and things at this stage. I think they still get everything they need from milk

. At this stage I think it's more about solids being more satisfying for them than worrying about which nutrients etc they're getting.
Egg Ds2 is also on Aptimil no.2 milk, here is our typical day,
6.00am wake and 6oz bottle
7.30am baby porridge, pureed fruit, water
8.30-9.00am nap
9.30am 6oz bottle
11.00-11.30 nap
12.30 small yoghurt and water
2.00pm-3.30pm big sleep
4.00pm 6oz bottle
5.00pm small dinner
6.45pm last bottle 7oz
This is all give or take half an hour or so, his biggest meal of the day is breakfast where his porridge is the equivalent of a
large jar and about 3 ice cubes of pureed apple and pear. He has about 3oz's of water throughout the day well.
Gosh looking back he's a right little piglet! or maybe not, i think some need more or less than that.
Is your DS1 home and is he ok now?
Last night was fine til 4:30am when both were unsettled on and off until 6:45 when I got them up. They were both in separate rooms, with DD in the loft and DS2 in their normal room, but both woke up within seconds of each other...
Forgot to say, one of the things the night nanny did was to put the babies on Aptamil no 2 (the hungry baby one) just for their final feed at 6/6:30pm. I have never entertained the idea of giving them that as have heard it is just harder to digest thus making them feel fuller for longer, but it does seem to have helped as
generally speaking they do make it through til 6:30am or later without feeding, and DS2 never had any sleep training, but until he changed milk he used to feed by 5am half the time.
Of course it might be just that they are eating more solids too.
So I have a weaning question. How much protein are you putting in (say chicken for example), and how much on average do your babies eat? Easier to gauge it if you are giving pots / jars I know, but am curious. Mine usually have up to a whole sachet or pot (120ml) with some minced up chicken and sometimes some baby porridge mixed in. I am nervous of putting too much chicken etc in, but then not sure they are even getting enough (using veg & fruit only pots so no protein already).
Beany are you fully recovered from tonsilitis? I don't think I have ever had it, maybe once. I tend to just get colds when I get run down (ie I had one after the other when the babies were smaller due to no sleep).
DS2 seems to have developed a "bad" habit in the last two days. Every time I put him for a nap he cries hysterically, really hysterically, as though he has lost a limb, when he has always been great at going for naps since he was about 2 months old. He screamed for 20 mins earlier, and I thought he was just overtired after not sleeping well for last couple of hours of night, but he was the same for lunchtime nap and he had only been up 2 hours, and had slept for 1hr 20 earlier. Please tell me it is a phase.......
So the weather is predicted WET for Thursday in Winchester. Whoopeeeee. My only concern for having everyone here is that my carpet is so vile I am worried about your poor babies lying on it! Maybe we can spread the picnic rugs out!
Wonder if DS1 would like Nat History Museum. Think he is probably still a bit young. He does like dinosaurs though and has recently learned to say Pterodactyl [proud].
Sorry, waffling on and still haven't checked to see how everyone else has been doing

. I will look now. DH and DS1 are on their way back. DS1 was sick in car on way there, so I am fully expecting a vomit soaked boy to arrive in the next hour or so. Anyone know any cures for car sickness?
hi everyone- good to have you back Egg- and u beany- sorry to hear you have been poorly again!!!!
We are all good here, also

of the meet up next week!!!
DD also showing signs of teeth on the way!!!!
She loves Blueberries at the moment- we have pureed up blueberry and pear and blueberry and apple and she cannot get enough!!!!!
We have changed to Hipp organic Follow on milk with no problems either so all happy !!!!
Have a great sunday everyone xxxsx
Morning
Egg - did you have a better night? What time are dh and ds1 back?
Leesmum - we went to the Natural History museum a while back and went along the walkway, looking at the dinosaurs. I was wondering where the T. Rex was and then realised that was the noise and he was obviously the grand finale. Trouble was, when ds1 realised that too, he was terrified and it was packed so there was no way we could turn around and go back. Took all my mummy powers to get us past that bloody exhibit!!
Ds2 is also a bit mardy at the moment. Hurrah for teething!!
Leesmum - ds2 doesn't need a uniform for his preschool but I have got ds1's ready. The sweaters, polo shirts, school coat and bag were just ordered from the school which was nice and easy and I've got his trousers and gym kit. We're going to go and get him measured up for his school shoes this week and I've ordered a couple of key rings to put on his bag and coat since a lot of them will be the same. I just got one of those fabric pens and wrote his name on everything so I think we're sorted. He's really excited too - it'll be strange him being at school from 9 to 3.15 though - we're used to the half days at preschool. I hope your ds2's teeth come through soon - the top ones are usually quite sore when they come in aren't they?
Looks like another rotten day here again today.
Rozzy DS2 has also been crying a lot more recently, but i can see a little bit of white on his upper gum so i think tooth no. 3 is on its way. Also when he got his first two last month he had a really runny nose and for the last few days we've had that again so i think we're in for a couple of off days.
Rozzy have you got all your uniforms ready for Ds1 and Ds2 yet? I've got to get Ds1's trousers and jumpers yet and this morning i ordered some name tags. I can't help but get a bit excited about it all for him

He can't wait to go to school and keeps asking how long it will be until he goes.
Hi beany, yes its hard to keep Ds1 occupied and happy all the time, the bad weather doesn't help either.
Egg how was your Ds2 last night, any better? I too am envious of you lot meeting up and i second what rozzy said, lots of pics please

Ginger how is Toby doing on his milk, which one is he on? Was he sleeping through and recently started waking again? thats rough when you get used to uninterupted nights.
Have a lovely Sunday ladies x
I saw pobletsmum on another thread - her dd seemed to be doing really well but she did make comments that she was feeling down

.
My boys have been off nursery for the last 4 weeks. Ds1 starts school in 2 weeks and ds2 will be back at nursery too. The holidays have actually gone much faster than I thought they would - the fact that dh had 3 weeks off work at the start definitely helped!
Ds3 has been doing a little of the starting crying all of a sudden too. A lot of the time it's when he's chewing on something so I wonder if he has sore gums?
5 weeks of no nursery

. The thought makes me quake.
Have been busy beavering away on email sorting out our meet up and now really must turn this off as I have a bomb site of a house, and will end up having to tidy tomorrow morning with two small but noisy people in the way.
Sarah there are so many on that list that are MIA

. I have seen a few around on other threads, I spotted dearbeatrice and was v pleased as had been worried as I know she was so ill with hyperemesis early on. Can't remember if she had a boy or a girl though.
I really will get on here tomorrow morning though and catch up
properly.
Hi everyone, sorry for another long absence. Have been v unwell with tonsilitis (again) and now ds1 is off nursery for 5 weeks (yikes!) and it's just mad here. Dh is out AGAIN tonight so I'm trying to catch up!!
hiya egg that's happened twice with dd recently. each time i thought maybe she was hurt but nothing apparent - so i just put it down to pure rage

.
Yes way too many poos for my liking! They were all firm ones, just a lump each time! hehehee.
Only 3 so far today.
DS2 very upset today. Was a bit worried about him for a while. He was ok but then had half his solids lunch and started sobbing and sobbing. Even when I was holding him and cuddling him he was inconsolable. He was red in the face and hysterical (DD watched on amusedly). Got him some calpol but he calmed down eventually just before he had it. No idea what was wrong. Then he fell asleep in his bouncy chair so maybe he was just incredibly tired after his restless night poor boy.
I can't find the charger for my camera but will certainly TRY to get some pics on Thursday if I can locate it in time! Esp a group one of all the babies!
God Egg that's a lot of dirty nappies at this age isn't is? Maybe they're having their own competition for king/queen of poo in the egg household? Sounds like you had a rubbish night last night - it is quite hot and stuffy at the mo though isn't it - we're having thunder just now.
Lo has been a bit grumpy the last few days, feeding a lot but not that interested in solids. Suppose it could be teeth or growth spurt or the heat but he better have a good reason for it! In fact he did actually take a fair bit of solids yesterday but was still up 3 hourly in the night - oh who knows I give up trying to figure him out!
I hope you have a great meet up on Thursday - make sure you take some photos and let the rest of us know all the stories - I feel a bit left out up here!
DD woke up 8 times last night. DS2 woke up 4 times. DS1 woke up once. Not sure what was going on. Something in the air. DD has been pretty good since sleep training. Was v difficult as torn between leaving her so as not to destroy all progress from sleep training, and picking her up as was concerned there must be something wrong. She survived. I am tired though. DH and DS1 have gone to inlaws until tomorrow so just me and babies so a bit easier.
DD is being a pain though.
Am watching John and Kate and 8 or something similar. About a couple in the US with twins and sextuplets. My life is a breeze I have suddenly realised.
Really hope no rain on our meet up day, but am honestly happy to have everyone in house, despite it being a bit of a squeeze, so at least there is a dry option!
Lovely! Only one poo here today LOL! Am v tired ds still waking at 11pm, 4 and 6am. Seems happier with milk this morning. He's asleep now (little bugger!) so am trying to catch up on bills etc.
Looking forward to meet next week

BBc weather only seems to go up to wednesday (rain), hpoe it improves for thursday!
Wow Egg between you and Gill it's just one big poo fest

We are boring in our house just the one massive poo a day i'm afraid.
Who's up for having a poo titled next thread?

get your suggestions in now ladies lol
I am wanting to steal Gill's crown as queen of poo. I changed a world record of TEN poo nappies yesterday, and DS1 did not poo at all. DTs managed FIVE EACH. We are already on two today.
Anyway, back later as now have a computer all weekend, and DH and DS1 away, so will have time to catch up properly and see how you are all doing.
Gill - you really are the queen of poo!
Tyaca - well done on the 4lbs - fantastic effort. I'm finding the last few pounds a real bugger to shift - I've only lost 1lb in the last 3 weeks (although to be honest I did have 2 weeks of being really bad with food which couldn't have helped). I'm running a fair bit at the moment and am running outside at least once a week - gives me a change of scenery from the treadmill and also lets me escape the daily battle of getting ds2 to stay in his bed (he's actually currently sitting at the top of the stairs shouting on me but I'm trying to ignore him as it's getting out of hand - first he wants 3 kisses, then 3 cuddles and takes about an hour to go to bed!!)
Leesmum - great pictures of your hols! I lost a lot of weight when I went back to work after ds2. It's not that I have an active job - I actually get to sit down more at work than I do at home - but it just meant I was doing everything I had been doing and squeezing 3 days work into the equation too.
Ginger - hope you find a formula that agrees with your lo soon - what a nightmare!
Alkar - that underwater shot is fab.
Better go and try and quieten down this little sod before he wakes the others up
Thanks alkar, yes it is expensive but it's a bit of a 'one off' so will probably do it too. went to class today. Had lots of fun, some weeks are better than others, depends if Toby's tired.
He's a bit upset tonight, seems to have belly ache - blardy Heinz! Tried another milk but that was worse so we're hpoing he gets used to new formular. Phoned yesterday, for third time to complain! said they'd send some vouchers but doesn't really help the problem. Feell a bit sorry for telephone operators really, they must be so fed up with complaints.
Ginger, it cost us £50 for the photoshoot and then another £100 for the photo (16" x 20"). I know its a lot but it tied in with DS christening so people bought if for us really.
Leesmum, yes I was wearing a dress, the only thing suitable I could find in the shops that I could also bf in. It took weeks to find!
Glad you have managed to get a couple of hours free lovemymum
Well done Tyaca!

Katie is with my in-laws now for a few hours. I think DH had a word with them. They'll make time for babycare when he asks, but not when i do - or so it seems to me.
I know this is sad but I have just gone through our old threads and found the last completed list as I also wonder what happened to our regular posters and the less regular ones too!!!!
Have a look through there are many on here I forgot all about!!!!

Sally it's so nice to see pics of you and your family, what a cutie your lo is and i'm very impressed with him getting on all fours, well done

Tyaca an electrician eh! well they get well paid and are never out of work. A BIG pat of the back for losing 4 lb's thats really good, i think i'm only gonna loose more weight once i go back to work in sept. I'm on my feet a lot so i'm hoping my last few pounds will just drop off then

i've had a look at your pics and your Esther is such a sweetcheeks x
Sarah your pics are great, i love looking at everyone's snaps and seeing how all our babies have grown. Isn't rosie doing well to be sitting up, lo is no where near sitting up in fact he's stopped rolling, i think his fat legs make it hard for him.lol
Egg it's looking like your nights are getting a bit better, both the twins are doing well on their food as well. We have really good days and then some when he doesn't seem too bothered with food, but they're the hights when we're up a bit so i'm really trying to encourage him to eat a little more. BTW "Happy Birthday" for yesterday did you get anything nice? x
Gill you are indeed a "poo fiend" i love poo stories

Malcolm always takes a great picture doesn't he? My Dp has in the past made comments about housework to which my reply is "well you know where the fu*@ing hoover/cleaning stuff is"
Alkar what a brilliant picture underwater

i also love the christening photos as well, was that a dress you had on? it looked lovely i like that shade of blue.
Count oh yes my Ds1 can be a real terror and is pushing it at the moment with his "selective hearing" i hate having to ask him to do things half a dozen times and then end up shouting

LOVEMYMUM its always nice to hear from you, it's not fair when you're expecting help and then you don't get it. Do you normally get on with your in-laws?
i don't suppose anyone's heard from jo. pk or morning glory have they. It worries me when people suddenly stop posting

i hope they and everyone else who hasn't been on for a while are ok xxx
i've finally put some hol pics on.
Hi. Sorry not posted for a little while. Am furious with in-laws as they aren't helping me out like they said they would, always busy with cooking or cleaning. Fair enough and have told DH "don't tell me your family are available to help me, cos they're not". I ended up in Tesco at midnight after going to my friend for her joint birthday with her DH, after looking after Katie all day. Had to go to Tesco, otherwise no food for tomorrow night.
oh I do love the poo stories so much

tyaca
four babies?

no way - DS is as PFB as they come!!!
Well done Tyaca! Excellent work. I've had a day of muesli, fish and salad and then a big bar of green & black's to myself!
Much better day here today; had a uni friend visiting from Scotland with her 4mo DS - he did a 7 day poo while he was here! Yikes - it was the worst I've ever seen!
And then LO did a poo on my hand as I was putting him in the bath.
Also we went for a walk in the park and LO got hit by bird poo!
THREE poo stories in one post - beat that.
hello all and how are tricks? our weather has been hit and miss but yesterday was lovely. DH's sister and her kids, plus MIL came down yesterday and it made me realise how great this flat is going to be as dd grows up. SIL's kids are 2.5 and 1 and they had a great time running around our garden in floppy sunhats - 'twas all very idyllic and english!
am currently nurturing fantasties of retraining as an electrician. tenants move into our old flat tomo and dh and i have been doing the last bits of DIY there this week - today i managed to change two light switches. it was very very easy but am pleased nonetheless. you can tell how numbed my brain has got that gentle DIY-ing has sent me into a frenzy of pride!
happity b-day egg. will you be getting looked after this weekend? i meant to say in a previous post how impressed i was by the challenge your dd posed to the night nanny. were you glad of the validation? i would have been pleased to have someone In The Know just recognise how tought the last few months have been. and then fix it, of course

happy six months alkar. and sarah i confess i am v jealous of the sitting. what a lot of big babies!
and ty for pics sally. cause of your name i always thought your (gorgeous

) ds was number four - wasnt til i saw your profile i realised he was number one...
... and speaking of lots of babies, rozza i always forget how many
you have til you start to do a run through of them! wd on running outside, still havent got the nerve to do that so have stopped running completley cause gym membership is over
haha gill, i am curling my toes now remembering one of my last posts when i sympathised with malcom's waking up to play at stupid-o-clock. i went on to speculate whether dd did it too cause she slept too much in the day ... i had no idea malcom doesnt nap well

. i am quite a placid person but if DH had commented on state of flat while i was cooking i would have gone thru the roof.
well, i am preparing to be on the recieving end of lots of cyber glares here but i just cant help myself. i lost 4lb in the last week! no booze and v v healthy dinners. plus lots of some bonkers type of yoga that is done in a hot hot hot room. i think mainly i have sweated the weight off and it will all come back once i am rehydrated but pah, for the time i am under 10 stone, if ever so slightly thirsty.... not updating lost cause dont want to jinx it
Rozzty totally agree 3 is much worse than 2!!!! DS is really testing me at the mo and at 3 .5 he of couse knows best!!!!!1OMG he drives me insane-
I am sure its a phase but never mind-
Hope every one is ok xxx
Done anything special today Egg??
Hi everyone.
Happy birthday Egg! Hope you had a great day!
Count - ds2 is also being a bit of a mare at the moment. He keeps getting out of bed when he's supposed to be sleeping and then is grumpy the next morning - we had some spectacular tantrums this morning. Other times he can be lovely but god he winds me up sometimes! Dh and I can't remember if ds1 was as bad as this at this age - never mind terrible twos 3 is a much worse age ime. Ds1 who is 5 is generally really good now though so hopefully this is just a phase!
Sally - lovely pics - it's really nice to see what everyone looks like. I will get dh to take a photo of me once we get a new camera (old one has packed up coincidentally just after we started letting ds1 and ds2 take some photos with it!)
Gill - solids is a bit hit and miss here too. He's had a couple of hipp organic jars when we've been out and loves them but is not so keen on my cooking

. He was taking a fair bit of solids last week when I was mixing purees with rice and ebm but expressing is such a faff I've been trying just to give him straight purees and he's not so keen. I'm trying not to get too stressed out about it because I know he's fine with just milk but a part of me is thinking 'oh great you're not eating that so I'll be up x times tonight' Really selfish I know! My dh is the complete opposite to yours - even if the house is a complete tip he says it looks fine - drives me mad sometimes cause he just can't see what needs done so I either have to just do everything myself or specifically ask him to do something which makes me feel like a nagging wife. I can't seem to keep on top of things at the moment but am hoping it'll improve when school/nursery starts in a few weeks.
Hope everyone else is ok!
alkar, I'm not sure.. I gave him to DH to look after and returned to find DS waving to me from inside the basket: "He wanted to go in there," said DH, helplessly.
Strange child.
Happy birthday Egg!
Thanks for link.
Tnaks alkar re swimming, hopefully we will be offered same thing. Is it expensive?
am a bit busy so will catch up later.
Love the pics Sally - how long did you leave him in storage!
Happy birthday Egg!!!
Thanks for the advice re the zoo rozzy, I think we will go to the beach instead.
DS is 6 months old today, can't believe its gone so fast.
lovley pics Sally- now we can see them xxxxx
hi everyone- HAPPY BIRTHDAY EGG
buggrit sorry everyone. Any better now?

happy birthday Egg
Gill I've had a few comments like that from DH - they just have NO idea do they.
can't see pics Sally!
Well we are weaning but he's not that fussed about food really - hve bought lots of little jars of hipp organic so we can try different tastes - sometimes he'll take a bit and sometimes just clamps his lips shut and shakes his head around. He is still very keen on b/f!
Sounds like a lovely break Leesmum.
Happy six months to count's LO.
Well I have one more thing to add.
AAAAARRRGGGHHHHH

not helped massively by DP coming in and saying this house is a total state. Couldn't see why that upset me. I tried to explain impossibility of tidying up with a baby who NEVER SLEEPS and he then tried to prove a point by spending the night tidying up whilst carrying DS in one arm.

I was torn between proving a point by a) tidying all night - the martyr option and b)beer and chocolate in front of the telly - the don't give a
* option. (went for the former)
AND when he said that thing about the house being a tip I was standing cooking his dinner having just been stung on the foot by a bee! Ow!
God I feel so much better.
Have a fabulous day Egg xxxx
Ahhh bless her sarah. Ds2 wants to sit but just isn't big enough or stron enough although he has started rolling over and doing sit up type things so I'm hoping he will be soon as he gets very frustrated. Think he's just nosy!!
Happy birthday for tomorrow egg, hopefully you'll have nice weather again.
did not read my post- sorry EGG!!!!
Ohh menat to add Rosie is now sitting for long periods unaided- and seems very proud of herself- (mummy wishes her baby babk emoction)

She is also trying to bum shuffle to get to ds and the stupid labrador!!!!!omg
hello Ehh- wondered where you had got too-
*HAPPY* *BIRTHDAY*
for tomorrow are doing anything to celebrate??????
still cant see pics Sally-
Ah yes we have had those tiny worms! Well I did worry, but had a lovely close up look and realised they weren't. Spinach is indeed lovely in poo.
DS2 has a nice habit at the mo. He likes to have a poo. So you change him. Then he poos again half an hour later, so you change him, etc etc until he is up to 5 or so poos. Always just one lump...
Poor DH got 5 within ONE HOUR on Sunday when I was not here!
Ginger
here is South meet up thread
.
Hi everyone, how are we all coping with the heat?
I love the sunshine but we are not a heat loving family!! Poor ds2 is really struggling bless him so he spends most of his day in a nappy!! Still at least we're getting out. I've got PMS this week and my god I'd go mad!! I said to dp tonight, I could do with going back to work if I have anymore days like this

Ds1 has a touch of the devil about him at the mo. He ignores everything I say, pretends not to hear me and seems to go out of his way to misbehave!! I have also decided that I must secrete something when I have PMS that ds1 picks up on as he's defo worse this week than last!!! I just hope he starts calming down a bit!!
Ds2 is 6 mths exactly today! I can't believe how much its flying by, just seems like yesterday we were all announcing that we were pg!! I've been flicking through pics and we definitely have and its so lovely seeing them all change. His appetite has really picked up now and he's having 2 full meals, and had chicken for the first time this week. Not so nice when it turns up in the nappy though!! Especially after spinach!! Ooo just thought, for those of you who will be doing this for the first time, when you give banana, make sure its really ripe otherwise it can constipate them and also when they poo after, it looks like there's lots of tiny worms. I will never forget it with ds1 and almost taking him to the doctors before my friend told me!!!
Ooops sorry about my name then, I changed it a few days ago for a specific purpose and forgot to change it back

.
Hello lovely ladies. DH has broken our computer so have not been around

. He has his work one here in the eve but have not had a chance to really get on much. Just wanted to say hello and that I miss you all!
Ginger I will try to link you to the meet up thread in a mo, have not looked at it myself for a week so hope all is still ok.
Everything ok here. DD sleeping more or less 7-6 or a bit later (as is DS2), so life is better! Still a challenge every day though.
We started weaning at 23 weeks or thereabouts I think. DS2 has 3 meals a day and 3 or 4 bottles depending on his mood (sometimes not keen on mid morning bottle but has big solid feed instead). DD has 2 or 3 solid meals a day and 4 bottles (hurrah, not 6 bottles any more). She is not really keen on breakfast solids for some reason, no matter what I offer her.
It is my BIRTHDAY tomorrow

.
Alkar love the pics of the christening and underwater. We have some lovely underwater ones of DS1 although no idea where they are. Hope they have not been thrown out

. Also nice to see pics of you and put another face to a name.
Not got long now as DH needs computer, but I haven't forgotten you all. Will hopefully be back online properly soon.
Hi everyone.
Your break sounds fab leesmum - your BIL and sister sound fab too - am very envious of your long lies!!
Sally - I can't see your photos either. We started ds off on solids around 22 weeks but he's only started taking to it in the last week or so.
Alkar - ds1 was around 16 months when we first took him to the zoo. Don't think lo would be that interested yet (brother watching is a favourite passtime at the mo!).
Well we haven't had a repeat performance of the 7pm to 4am sleeping but things are definitely getting better and he tends to have one stint of 5/6 hours. Dh and I are really looking forward to him going in his own room now though as the last couple of nights he's woke up around 4 to make da da da, oooohhh noises very loudly for around 1/2 hour. I thought it was so cute when he started making these babbling noises - not so cute in the middle of the night though. Anyway, he's almost 6 months so we'll probably put him in his own room soon. It's just a pain because we'll have to take the treadmill out of his room (it's VERY heavy) and put his cot back in his room. It'll also be a bit of a pain getting up for night feeds when he's in his own room but hopefully he'll be sleeping through soon (who am I kidding

).
Anyway off for a shower - just been out for a run
Can't see the pics sally
Ginger - yes the photo was through his waterbabies classes, we took a sneaky pic of the 6x4 photo on a mobile so the one we oredered should be much better.
I love the natural history museum leesmum, can't wait to take DS.
Those with other children, how old were they when you first took them to the zoo. I might take DS soon but not sure if its worth it?
sarah - thats weird - I had added you already - can anyone else see my pics???
sally - cannot see your pics- but would love too-
welcome back lees mum- glad u had a lovely time with your sister,
hi everyone else
btw have lost link for sout meet up, could someone pop it on for me. ta
sally, started weaning at 16 weeks 'cos he was a very hungry boy! ds good, loves his food!
Hi everyone

we're back!
Well i've just had a quick skim through and glad to hear that you and all the lo's are well.
We had a fab time at sis's and we couldn't have asked for better weather although the nights were a bit too hot for Ds2, he seemed quite unsettled at night and has also ended up with a fungal infection on his widge

it's made him a bit grumpy which is understandable and he is teething like mad! using the bottles to vent his frustration

We went to the Natural History Museum because they had a big dinosaur exhibition on and Ds1 was well chuffed with it, i'd recommend it and being free to get in was a bonus as well, we had a picnic in Hyde Park and also went to Windsor which is a beautiful place. The rest of the time was spent in the huge paddling pool that my BIL bought Ds's, we've really been looked after needless to say i'm not weighing myself this week i've had far too much booze and food and loved every minute of it. My sis even got up with the boys for a couple of mornings so i could have a lie in...bliss
i'm off now to have a proper read back and have a look at all your photo's...i'll try and put some on later x
btw have finally uploaded some pics to my profile. have made them MN mates only so let me know if you can't see them and I will add you!
Rozzy! great news on the weight loss. I have given up weighing myself as I seem to stay the same - even though I am toning up at the gym - muscle weighs more than fat you know!! And great news on the sleep. I hope you slept too and didn't keep waking to check on LO! Sounds very rough for MIL and gran

Gill - Yoga in the park sounds fun! Your weekend sounds great too!
Sally - I have started offering food to LO and she like to suck and chew stuff. Doesn't eat much though! She is 24 weeks!
DD1 has been home 3 nights and spent 2 of those nights at friends houses - feeling quite rejected! Though I don't blame her. she has to get her socialising in this week as we are taking her to darkest wales next week!
oh Sally meant to add- she is now 25 weeks old OMG
sally i intended 16 weeks the same as i did ds and started at 17 weeks, we love weaning here so all well!!!!
DD has taken to food very well, she has 2 solid meals a day and 4 6oz bottles of milk- hope that helps-
right must get ready for work
blimey its getting quiet on here. I blame the hot weather, everyone must be out and about/in the garden etc. unfort for us it has the oposite effect as its too roasting to go in the garden or to take the bus anywhere, and so we are sitting inside in the nice cool house in front of a massive fan!!! (and the internet natch)
LO is 23 and a half weeks and really I did mean to wait until 6mo before introducing solids BUT he grabbed a bit of my lettuce BLW stylee and chewed it and I thought he didn't swallow any of it BUT the nappy test suggests otherwise - lots of shredded up little green bits in the poo!!! (sorry if TMI but it is a new mothers prerogative to witter on about her baby's poo to anyone who will listen!)
what age did you / do you all intend to start solids?
love the pix alkar. Was the underwater oone part of swimming classes? We go to 'littledippers', someone told me that they offer a photo session as part of the classes but haven't heard anything about it.
Storm didnt amount to much, which was a shame. Lots of heavy rain and a few rumbles.
U ok gill? LOL at dh and 'bottom problems'.
Have put some christening pictures on my profile and an underwater photo. I don't have many christening pics on my camera (too busy chatting

)

no weight loss this week (again) but seems a bonus given bad behaviour over weekend!
Lljkk am with you on the BLW. No point in handing a bowl of mush to LO it will just go straight on the floor.
Rozzy well done on pound and sleeping. Only a few pounds off target ain't too bad! I'm still way off.
Alkar - no unpleasant surprises - in fact waking up in campsite was pure joy with LO - he was just so amazed by it all and also slept well in the tent. We had a fab weekend with plenty of sun, a swim in the sea and a day's rock climbing.
Am paying for it today and had a really low day - feel so unable to cope with DS who is back to being very grumpy with nose and bottom problems. DP was exactly the same when he got back from work (unable to cope that is not bottom problems) His parents have just got back from three weeks climbing in the Bolivian Andes and are in better shape after that than the pair of us after a night in Dorset. Bad stuff.
No storms here yet - have a yoga session planned in the park with friends so presume they will arrive in time for that!
ginger agree re storms! we've got distant lightening and some low rolls of thunder and am v excited. also just got a mamas and papas playnest from ebay for a fiver. result! wd on weight loss rozzy. alkar glad chistening went well - pics please

updating weight loss to include pound i lost weeks ago but been static since. am being v strict this week - poor dh is getting a bit used to dinners of fish and beans

Hi everyone!
Nice use of acronyms omy!!
Lo slept from 7pm to 4am last night

. Hopefully not a one-off although then I'd have to find something else to complain about!!!
More good news - I've lost another lb. I had hoped I'd be down to my target by the time ds3 was 6 months but he's 24 weeks today and there's no way I'll be able to lose 3lbs in 2 weeks. Ho hum.
Ds1 and ds2 are back at sports club this week so dh has just gone to drop them off then he's off to see his gran who's unfortunately in hospital again. The doctors took her off her blood thinning medicine when she had her fall in June as they were worried that if she fell again she would bleed out. But she was rushed in last week for an operation as she had a blood clot so they've put her back on the tablets again. She's also got altzeimers so it's really tough on mil at the moment who does all her care.
Hope everyone else is having a nice day. Only 3 weeks until ds1 starts school so I'm off to start labelling his uniform.

Alkar- you picked a great day weather wise- glad you had a lovely day and DS was an angel for you, looking forward to seeing your pics,
Morning everyone- is it monday again already where are the weeks going??????
It was DS christening yesterday, there were 4 babies being christened at the church and there was only him that didn't cry - I'm so proud!!! He was passed around everyone all day and it didn't bother him at all, he is such a little star. I'll post some pics later.
The last few morning when I have gone to get DS up he's been asleep on his tummy. I had a feeling he'd be a tummy sleeper, he's now rolling all over the place all the time no signs of crawling yet, phew

How was your weekend Gill, hope you didn't get any nasty suprises when you woke up
Enjoy france princess, no holidays for us this year

lljkk I spent an afternoon pureeing veg and freezing it but like you I am giving DS fresh food mashed up so far, so it was a bit of a waste of time and freezer space!
Ty - had to look up pfb on the acronym list - but still don't get what you mean! Precious first born? huh? Bonus is that while i was there i found ffs which I intend to use alot!
Just had a row with DH as he shouts at DD2 in such a horrid way and expects me to 'back him up' about sending her to bed after he has shouted at her to go to bed - I said i would never back up a shouting person no matter what they were shouting about and he said he felt 'undermined' by me - FFS!!!! WhAAAAt is going on when 2 sane adults are being wound up by an 11 year old! All these joys of parenthood yet to come!
DD1 just in from hols in Croatia - so more dramas will no doubt be played out in our house.
Little Leila is an angel of course - though she is now old enough to start playing the 'get me out of bed' game after I have put her down for the night! She has rolled over twice and shuffled along about half a foot! (proud mum emoticon)
ach lljkk! you old cynic

permish to get pfb and really v excited about weaning? the
messing around on mumsnet research is half the fun. acronyms included.
Well, I finally made an effort to understand what BLW is about.
And now I know... it's a fancy way of saying "Only finger foods". Honestly, I will never understand why people take weaning so seriously!! I never did ice cubes of home-made puree and I'm not signing up for this madness, either. (I mashed fresh things, instead).
Coz frankly, I can't hack the idea of all the mess, so I'll do what I did with the other babies. We'll do all BLW -- as long as it's nice neat tidy stuff like rice cakes or even buttered bread, BUT I'm spooning all the messy stuff until I feel baby is old enough to handle a spoon. DS4 just doesn't have enough spare bibs+clothes for me to do BLW -- how can it be called ecological when it requires so much extra washing? Ugh. Dealing with their runny noses and bottoms is enough yuck for me.
Might be different if I had a dog to clean it all up.

Other than a few pieces of carrot and a chip we haven't started solids, really. Only got a highchair (finally) last week. DS4 has managed to ingest a bit of cake wrapper and a fistful of sand at the beach, mind -- do they count as first solids?

Crawling babies are a nuisance. That said, DS is mighty bored because he can't crawl so I spend most my day wearing him, which isn't really fun either.
But when he can crawl, I'll need to wear him for his own safety, so looks like my back is in for a bad year...
Tyaca you're probably right with beans lo's birthday - I'm not exactly on the ball at the moment!! (sleep deprivation has fuddled my brain).
I'm hoping for a late teether!! I think I've said before on here that I've never bf a baby with teeth before and have a bit of a fear of it!
Hello ladies, v hot here. dh is clearing out the shed and wants me to say what he can throw away! I don't really care! its too hot for that kinda crap!

Ds also v eratic with sleeping , in last three nights he has slept from 11 to 7.30, 10- 2.30- 5.30 and 10.00-5.30- 7.00. He's very grumpy today (most unlike him) and has a runny nose again. Not ill as such so could be teeth (i'm ever hopefull).
Suppose i'd better go before he gets rid of something useful! Have a good sunday y'all
hello! hope you managed to get some sleep tyaca. this hot weather is a killer isn't it.
well LO is persisting in his ongoing efforts to crawl. so far he has got to the stage of rocking back and forth on his hands and knees (how does he know how to do that? we never showed him) but is most puzzled at what he should be doing next. So far the best he can manage is little bunny hops

v cute. He still can't sit or roll (except by accident) so I wonder how long it will take him to really be able to crawl.
hulloo all. i cant sleep because i have an insanely itchy scalp, how stupid's that? have already washed hair once today, not going to do again so am stuck here hoping i will get too tired to notice and can kip.
rozza, bizarrley i also
thought i remembered bean's section date, tho' for some reason i thought it was the 29th?? so i guess not.
sally, lol re droppers of BM. dd seems to be teething i think and only thing we could think of was to give her calpol. i have never ever had any success with getting her to keep it down - usually she just swills it round her mouth, smiles sweetly and it all spills out againl. today tho dh and i nailed it --
shoved gave her a bottle straight after the drops and i reckon she managed to keep.... oooh ... 20% of it down. and he dilluted remains were significantly easier to clean up that usual.
egg - exciting re dd. how's she been the last couple of nights? what were this lady;s tricks? or does she keep them secret for fear of renegade night nannies stealing her methods?
gill - that waking at 2am just for a play is exactly what dd's been doing. we're thinking maybe she's sleeping too much in day? she can get four hours or so - a practice i encourage obvs cause you dont wake a sleeping baby and
nothing to do with me really bloomin' liking it when she's asleep. how is your throat? my virus started there and in glands so be careful and do get dh to do some of those nighttime wakes if ds is just getting up for a play. it was a run of awful nights that sent me from mildly ill to unable to move. and it was dh taking over for a couple of nights that helped me get back on feet. felt v guilty in the middle of the move and he having to hold everything together, but all were better for me being well
have a lovely holiday princess. welcome back from holiday bessie
haven't had time to read posts. just quick one to say we're off on holiday to france tomorrow for 2 weeks so if it's quiet from me that's why
Oh Sally that sounds awful- i hope you all feel better soon and get some much needed sleep-
i am feeling really fed up today- no ide why though- just grouchy i guess!!!
I hope every one is ok-
hello all.
we are feeling v sorry for ourselves over here. DS has a norrible cold and what do you know, he's given it first to me then to DH.
DS has had a very blocked up nose. I posted on another forum asking how to clear it (short of the famous snot sucker, which I somehow just can't bring myself to use

) and they said saline drops or breastmilk... but I didn't have any saline drops...
... so there I was in the middle of the night wielding a 2ml syringe of breastmilk and attempting to direct it up DS' nostrils. Unfortunately he clearly felt I'd thoughtfully provided him with a tasty little morsel of fast-food, and kept trying desperately to suck the syringe. I felt very mean for confusing him.
However, his nose did get better, so the breastmilk treatment appears to have worked.
think he is teething as well, from what rozzy says - horrible nappies, runny nose, and major chomping on
everything! oh joy.
Egg - so pleased the night nanny did her thang with DD - hope the benefit is sustained!
Sarah, Gill - love the pics!
and Happy 6-month-day to Malc.
Right I am going to meanly go and wake DH up, he has been sleeping in the spare room. Not b/c we have been arguing but b/c of LO's night waking - it was taking its toll on both of us!
Happy half year Malcolm

. I can't believe how quickly time is flying by - sad in a way that I'll never have another little baby but I do love this stage. I've always avoided those snot sucker things - I'm quite squeamish about things like that. Can't remember if I said before but your story about sending your dp a photo of Malcolms impressive poo made me laugh!
If anyone needs some new bf bras debenhams have got some hugely reduced. I got a pack of 2 reduced from £25 to £7.50. Nothing fancy but they'll do the job! Also if you go onto their website you can download a voucher for 20% off which you can use until Tuesday.
Hope everyone has a fab weekend.
have fun at the shops rozzy. Malc is also 6 months this week - tomorrow in fact

Have bought a snot sucker in sainsbury's. My life now feels fairly complete (or at least it will once I have sucked snot out of his nose. Earlier this week I scraped poo out of his nappy and into a sample pot so there's not much left to experience)
Hi everyone. The threads been pretty quiet this week! Lucky for me actually as I thought it would take me days to catch up with everyones news!! Been a bit hectic here keeping dc entertained in the holidays and trying to do lots of exercise in an attempt to shift the last of the weight.
Egg I thought it was going to be nice here today too but it's not. Trip to a park with a little zoo has been put off until a nicer day and dh is going to take ds1 and ds2 to see walle whilst ds3 and I hit the shops! Good news on dds sleeping - hope it lasts for you!
I have also had a few better nights. The last 2 nights ds3 has skipped his 10pm feed. He then reverts back to 3 hourly so I'm still up twice but it just feels soooo good to have made some progress! Solids going ok - taking it slowly but it is making a difference not only to his night time sleep but he's also not cluster feeding in the afternoon which is a big relief.
Hope you enjoy the camping Gill and start feeling better soon. Horrible nappies and runny noses can be a sign that teeth are on the way!
Sarah - sunburn again!! You must remember to look after yourself as well as dc

Beany - somehow I remember your section was booked for 22nd Jan so your ds must be 6 months old this week? Time is going so fast isn't it!!
Omy - hope Leila is ok after her jabs.
Bessie - glad you're enjoying your lo - this is a lovely stage I think.
Off to pack a bag for going out later - gone are the days when I could just pick up my purse and keys and go out!!
are you hiding from someone?

hope the rain stays off and it goes smoothly. Excellent news about DD! Hopefully that will be all of her troubles out of the way until the teenage years.....
DP is being a bit more help at the mo - I suggested he get DS up in the morning and entertain him while getting ready for work which gives me an extra half hour or so in bed.
Oh Gill that sounds cack. It is so so much harder being woken at night when you are feeling rough anyway.
Good news is DD slept from 7 til 6:45 without a peep and took a proper feed when she got up. So the night nanny's work is now done. No money back if they fail unfortunately, as they have still done the time...
We are off to the zoo today, am a bit nervous as obv will need to do two milk feeds per baby as well as solids lunch while out, but am meeting up with my sis who can help me (although she has 3 of her own but they are older so can feed themselves!). Am also worried as weather was supposed to be good, but now looks like rain

.
me again on to moan after an awful night - up twice but the second time he just would not shut up and was chatting away for an hour before going back to sleep. I've got a really sore throat so no doubt coming down with a cold and feel none too psyched about the throught of packing the car and driving for hours now. DS still got horrible nappies and a runny nose Argh.
Moan over - sorry.
Isn't it quiet at the moment? What a scorcher it was today. We're off camping in Swanage this weekend - hopefully will be more successful than the attempt in Devon.
Haven't given up doing the weigh-in btw just no had any good news to post on it!
Do you get your money back if it the nanny doesn't work Egg? (not that it will not work of course...) We had a happy little man waking up to have a chat and play with us at 2 this morning....
Lovely pics Sarah! And Gill I love your pics too. I always giggle at the old one with Mal's hair sticking up! I bought a 2nd hand rucksack as I am too mean to spend much! I hope it works OK! I will be trying it out in the lakes in a couple of weeks.
Bessie - glad your LO is such a delight!
Leila had 3rd lot of jabs today and she was NOT impressed!
Egg - at least you know it wasn't your fault that DD wasn't sleeping through! If it had been too easy you might have been a bit miffed!
new pics also on profile if any one is interested !!!
DD is 24 weeks old today- 6months have gone far to quickly-!!!!
Hi everyone hope all is well with you all-
am guessing everyone is out enjoyning the sun shine
Oh, Egg - and anyone else with sleep probs - I know someone who used a company called mill pond to sort out their ds's sleep difficulties. They say the money it cost them was the best they ever spent.
I think this is it
So, I went away for a week and then had to spend 3 days catching up on all your posts.
Princess - I think you should have a MASSIVE strop at your dh and tell him to be more supportive.
dd is now sitting on her own and is about to start crawling; she can move herself across a room at alarming speed but it is more shuffling and sliding than actual crawling. I am trying to discourage movement as much as poss - there is clearly Much Trouble in store. She is a delight, though; smiling and laughing all the time

I also keep saying 'mama, mama' at her but no words yet. Her first word had better not be 'dada'...
Sorry not been about much lately, have managed to post a couple of times on other threads but because I got so far behind on this one I keep thinking I will wait and then do a proper catch up post and never do

.
Hope everyone is ok. We are now the proud owners of the longest running problem sleeper the night nanny has dealt with. Think we might be cracking it finally as she has had two nights without 10pm feed and last night slept til 5am, cried for 5 mins and back to sleep til after 7am! The night before she had cried 3 times but not for v long, but night before that it was a WHOLE HOUR

.
Both babies horribly snotty. The nose suction thing is certainly one of the best buys I ever made! It gets used about 8 times a day at the mo.
helo, it was a nice day yesterday wasn't it?I got sunburned too! also ate unfeasably large quantities of ice cream! oops.
my god- its been quiet on here today-
We have spent the day at Burnham on sea- somerset- had a great tome - DC'c loved it- i however have sunburn and am tired from the 3 hr driving!!!!
Off tobed will put pics on tomorrow - nite all xxx
<token post from the night poster before she goes to bed again>
Thanks for putting the wedding pics up Sarah - nice to see you and family!
My bushbaby has arrived! Pics on my profile

we've been to the docs today after 3 days of diarrohea (LO not me) He still seems fine in himself - well, happyish but not quite as lively as usual and more clingy. Doc prescribed some diarolyte which we have got down him so hopefully tomorrow better.
Princess how was your scary day?
goo dto see you count- your not alone i love weaning too!!!!
Glad to hear all is well with your family xxxx
Hello!! Done my best to scan what I've missed!! Don't get on the laptop at the mo and totally hooked on reruns of the last series of er so keep forgetting to log on in the mornings!!
Leesmum - yes I have got that problem with my boobs!! They've just reduced to nothing and look like someones scooped the middle out of them. Have started using my boob cream again from avon which is great but just waiting for time to catch up with them!! I seem to remember last time that they did regain some of their bounce at some point!! Till then its uplift bras and chicken fillets all the way!! No leaking though so i spose I should be grateful!!
Lots of sleepness nights - hope this calms down as it's horrible. With ds1 he didn't sleep through the night for at least the first year consistently. Even tho he didn't feed at night he used to wake up and need rocking to sleep. Ds2 on the other hand I've decided is our angel child who sleeps right through with no problem. I thank my lucky stars every day for this amongst other things as he's just the most chilled out little man in the world!
We;ve started weaning. We're doing traditional purees here and he loves it. So far pear and swede and butternut squash seem to be the faves. He has a veg and now a little fruit at lunch while I wean him off his milk feed and fruit at tea time with some water - well I say water what he actually drinks of it!! Next week sees the introduction of chicken!! Sad but I love this bit. I just love planning what he's gonna eat and see his reactions and stuff!!
No rolling here although he is trying. He'll sit on my lap and on the sofa bolstered with cushions but not on his own yet - think that's quite some time off. No teeth but plenty of dribbling!!! I was quite relaxed with ds1 and employed the philosphy of he'll do it when he's ready cause otherwise you just get worried about everything. To be honest I would say anything they're doing physically and movement wise before 6mths is a bonus rather than a must. I try and put him on his tummy each day but he just trys to eat the carpet!!
We had near hysteria at our preschool today as loads of the kids are leaving this term to start big school. Ds1 was really confused by it all - parents crying not really the best bless them!! Thank god I still have him in nursery - idea of the next 6 wks to occupy him myself is too frightening!!
omy- no pun intended!!!
ginger- i have searched mumsnet and there are lots of complaints- we will not be buying anymore- they have lost my custom completely- i have used farleys for both my DC's but not happy at all!!!!
After reading some of the threads on here the milk is totally different- maybe you might want to have a read!!!!
no luck with Heinz, told much the same thing. I asked if they'd had many complaints and she said'a few'!! I asked about it upsetting ds she said it might for a few days and then he'd be fine. so, more money and it upsets your baby, great! They didn't even offer me some vouchers!
Sally - creaky door impressions here too! Tried some BLW yesterday! she had a good suck on a nectarine and later a sweet potato. Banana today. So far I have coped with the rare gagging - rather than panicking and turing her upside down!
Alkar - diving off the sofa is a specialty - LO keeps trying to do it and so far I have caught her... but any day now....
Lucy - I am seriously thinning on top - also happened with other 2 but is such a pain! There is hair everywhere!
For the last 2 nights LO has made a fuss about getting to sleep - (cried for ages) so tonight I have out her to bed earlier to see if it was overtiredness. So far no crying....but plenty of growling!
'aitch' is the mum who set up 'babyledweaning.com' blog and forum. Great site.
Princess - am shattered just reading your post! To lazy to cook dinner tonight so DD2 had a toasted sandwich at the gym and I have had a flapjack and a nectarine! Will prob have a choc craving later on tho...
Tried LO in the baby pool today but she was not impressed - too noisy! - loud echoing screams of delighted youngsters..
Thursday - I bought a high chair yesterday!!! It was a seminal act definitely. Ikea 11.99 - brill, though of course I couldn't resist a few other nick nacks....£50 later I escaped from the shop!
Egg - screaming for an hour!!! Poor you. Hope they settle down soon.
Sarah - LOL at your 'no solid answer' pun!
Aitch is a MNNer who advocates blw via a blog,
princessWe have started putting ds4 into highchair for a meal to see how he gets on (doesnt seem to ingest much, made more progress with chips than anything else).
I think people take weaning too seriously... put me down in the seriously lax mom camp, ds4 rolled off bed months ago, Alkar.
welcome back egg-
Ginger you are probably wasting your time re- calling heinz about the price of farleys now- I called a week ago and was told its because they have added a new ingredient to stop constipation- it is expensive to supply apparently-
i also informed them that DD not constipated so what would happen to her tummy- got not solid answer-
i have today bought Hipp organic follow on milk(from 6months) as i completely refuse to pay £3 per tim more to heinz- just hope dd takes to it!! i think they will regret the price hike!!!!
How did u get on????
alkar - I have done so many things like that I daren't own up. Needless to say both dd's have survived relatively intact so far, in fact I consider dd2's rough handling by dd1 to be quite useful. She's so used to it that she recovered from the pain of her jabs today in a matter of seconds.
Re: Coil - i had to have swabs for chlamydia and gonorrea ( I hope I spelt those right!) and it has to be done on the fifth day of your cycle. My period haven't returned so I had a pregnancy test instead.
Hello Gil!
No hope of catching up for me as I don't even have time to sort out my house which is still full of boxes (and I moved over a month ago

)
Hi Princess! Chinchilla doing fine! LOL, had to buy it a stone today to sit on, to stop it overheating (you chill it in the fridge- the stone not the chinchilla

). A day in your house sounds crazy but then we have days like that sometimes too! Hope things a little calmer now.
Am off to phone heinz to complain about price of new milk - old one says committed to fair pricing....I don't thinK so! will let youknow what happens.
Oh no sally! At least there was only me to see DSs first tumble
alkar can I join your Flying Babies Club? this morning DS was playing happily on the floor, I'm trying to get him to sit up (impatient to start weaning? moi?) and he sat balanced there for all of 5 seconds... when he suddenly fell forward and his face hit the floor CRASH. Cue much terrified screaming!
Wouldn't have been so bad if it wasn't our very first outing to the NCT postnatal group at the time. They are probably all reporting me to social services as we speak.
Thankyou for reassuring me that I'm not that bad a mummy. DS was fine all day yesterday but I checked on him a lot in the night

Welcome back egg, hope you had a good time in ireland. How long is the night nanny with you?
Bad day yesterday princess! Hope things go ok with MIL.
Had a look at the wedding pics sarah, you all look lovely. Like the one with Harry and the couples daughter.
I CAN'T CATCH UP.........
Just about recovered from night out in Ireland.
Trying to keep up with you. Hoped I could slot back in without much trouble but you talked too much. I was too scared to try yesterday!
Anyway, looks like my DD is another one to outdo the night nanny....... still going strong screaming for an hour or so each night. DS2 is at it too.
Gah.
Omy, I think BLW might be the way to go. I was out for a picnic the other day with a friend who has an 8 month old baby. Baby picked up and stuffed in sandwiches, potatoes, carrot sticks, you name it. I was so impressed, and he didn't gag or choke at all. Mind you, the mess is appalling, fine for a picnic but they are actually having all meals in the garden! My DD is not interested in purees and hasn't got the idea of finger foods at all yet, but she was a month early so even though she's 6 months I think I'll just keep offerring her food every few days and see what she does with it. Must buy a highchair.
Tyaca, where have you moved to?
Oops, DD making pre-crying snuffling noises, better go feed her.
LOL princess. Large drink required! Good luck tomorrow.
Try not to feel too bad Alkar - EVERYONE does it and lots of people do much worse.
Hi Lucy!
tyaca who's aitch?
alkar don't worry about the guilt although i know exactly what you mean. we seem to spend our lives suddenly sitting up in bed hearing roaring crying from downstairs when one of us has forgotten to turn the monitor on and have left him getting hungrier and hungrier.
gingermumi glad to have you back. good to hear your dad is doing better. brilliant that you got a bit of a break. how's the cincilla?
lucy i've got to get a coil fitted too just can't face having the conversation with the bossy receptionist at the health clinic-do you have to go at a particular time of the cycle and do you have to wait til you've had several periods or anything.
sally i took ds to church too. he also did the loud noises throughout. i was really saying my prayers when his obscene pooing noises were drowned out by booming hymn. sadly couldn't disguise the horrific smell.(babies on neocate formula are social pariahs)
today has floored me. had agonising conversation with patient northern irish sky plus employee whilst trying to stop dd sticking her finger in the plug socket. eg. 'martha, what are the weather conditions like outside? do you have dry hands? can you take out the scart plug and the something something cables, right now what does the picture look like?' fgs, what a load of cr*p. obviously found the source of the problem when searching for the electricity supply for box and accidently pulled the arial out with no end on it, just wires. hah! i solved the problem, now we don't have to worry about picture quality because there is no picture. have just said goodbye to the cheery carpet fitters who had been here all day and still not finished in either dd or ds's room at bath time-couldn't reach bath either. had to put them both down in hastily reassembled dd's room. she then woke him up by singing loudly. then had nowhere to go to get him to sleep. she kept trying to play peekaboo with me and chat about the bad boys in the playground whilst i tried to shush her without ferdie waking more. i don't think i ever want to have them share a room, a spare room is not worth it. he started gurgling at her and the 2 of them looked so cheeky. anyway finally down and out. will have to get him out of her room before the 4am feed. pita if she wakes then too.
dh still not home and i've gone past hunger but too lazy/comatose to get up and cook. can only assume the tory party are self combusting-why else would dh not responded to cry for help at 7.30 and 8.30 whist i wrestled with lo's. and no tv to drown my sorrows. wasn't going to have a drink but now i'm thinking what tomorrow holds-mil,more carpet men, sky technician, dd's vaccination, ds consultation with reflux specialist, more cat doctoring-i think i'll have a Large one. but look-am still smiling
sarah- love the pix!
Alkar- you're right, first of many falls, sounds like all ok though! try not to stress it happens to us all
lol omy - as i read you post about fear of gagging, i was just about to say that aitch recommends a baby first aid class to calm the nerves, but realise you've prob read everything she's written already! i did not know about the youtube blw vids, will go hunt out.
glad malcom's sleeping a bit better now gill. i did empathise with the 2hrs to get to sleep stuff. dd only used to be like that a couple of times a week, now only maybe once but its still a struggle. after two nights of sleeping through, dd decided again at half three that sleep is for losers. luckily dh was on duty. it really made me laugh, as she yelped and started crying after half an hour of persiant hello-i'm-here noises, he finally got out of bed, but not before asking me in all seriousness whether NOW might be a good time to move her into her own room.
sally - dd does a fab creaky door too! its got a slightly witch like cackle to it too. actually, now i am attuned to it, babies everywhere seems to doing it.
ginger, glad you got away and glad your dad on the mend. take it he's out of hospital now.... and a lo on lap is a much better excuse for the spelling that mine which is that sometimes i just have no idea....
sarah -- ooh, more pics, looks like a lovely day and rosies looks lovely in the photo in her chair.
alkar, i reckon at the best thing about mumsnet is reading about other people's babies rolling off things. dd not yet mobile enough, but am equipped to not feel too bad when it happens. isnt it telling that we've had two babies roll themselves off things in a week? i reckon we might have a next title thread in there somewhere.
lucy - i know what you mean re catching up on the thread. i had no idea how daunting it could be til now! ugh, smear. and poking around. leasr there's only the fitting to go.
Eek, I've been attempting to catch up but I'm hopeless - sorry!
I seem to be losing lots of hair, I remember it happening after DD1 so I'm not too worried, it's just a bit weird.
I'm getting a coil fitted next month which will put my mind at ease. I had the swabs done last week and a suprise smear test at the same time. I really haven't missed having my bits poked around by nurses.
I've been offering DD2 a smidge of banana each week but so far she's just thrusting it out of her mouth so we'll wait a bit longer. She loves watching us eat though.
No teeth as yet, a bit of accidental rolling and no sitting up unsupported. We're also back to co-sleeping after her sleeping habits got worse and I can honestly say we're all much happier only waking up once/twice a night.
Bad mummy alert.
I left DS sat up on the sofa while I went to peg his nappies out. Heard him crying so came to check on him and he was lying on the floor. I feel so bad. I know its the first of many bumps but just wish I hadn't done something so stupid

Just shows you how fast they learn how to do things.
Hello ladies- had a fantastic day at the wedding yesterday- (pics on profile) The weather was good although went chilly in the evening-
My parents came to collect the DS's and took them home to bed so dh and i stayed out til 1am!!!!! mom and dad were fast asleep by then!!!lol
Hope all well xxxx
apologies for spelling have v wrigly ds on knee!!
Hello ladies!

Made it to Devon, had a good time but i think my mum probably got fed up with me ringing every five mins to see hoe dad is! Weather not brill but good to get away.
Thanks for all the lovely messagdes about dad. they wont complain but i guess thats up to them. I did complain to gp who said she speak to doctor who told him to rest and take pain killers. dad recovering slowly though wound looks a bit infected. Nurse came out yesterday and told them to put iodine on it. i'D have thought antibiotics would be better! Anyway will have to wait and see. Thanks princess for info about your dad, hopefully dad will feel no long term effects.
Egg, hos Ireland? Did night nanny arrive? Is it a success?
Thanks for info about boob prefernce, I've all but dried up that side and now do a mix of bottle and breast plus solids ( iwas giving the odd bottle before but more so now).
Gill, if you have trouble with constipation (LO not you!) try dilute orange juice, it worked for toby wheb he wouldnt/couldnt go!
Sarah - ooch re keys what a pain! and am with you on Farleys, what a con. Have family on Farleys alert, dd2 got me some in lidl the other day.
OMY am impressed with crawling! DS still hasn't rolled again and has no teeth though he's been 'teething' for months. Has woken up with runny nose today and very stinky bum so am hoping at least that mile stine will be reached soon!
Am off to shops with dd2 whenb she gets bacj from driving lesson.
Have a good day!
Hello!
LO still can't really sit up/roll but has been making determined efforts to crawl (trying to stick bum in air)... unfort only succeeds in inching
backwards which makes him v frustrated!!
tyaca

at your driving instructor! can't believe he would be so rude!!! I was rubbish too age 17 and then I got to uni and started cycling everywhere and something clicked in the bit of my brain that judges traffic speed etc and suddenly I was Much Better at driving despite not doing any while I was at uni.
Anyway I think the point of that little story was to illustrate how you can mysteriously get better at driving without having to actually do any

.
beany/alkar - impressed at LO rolling both ways! my LO seems to have forgotten how to roll at all!
omy - am also excited about trying BLW. when are you starting?
Gill - lol at climbing wedding - brings up strange mental pictures of congregation dangling from ropes halfway up a wall!
On a loosely related topic, I took LO to church yesterday (the "family" service). He was fairly quiet all the way through but during the Lords prayer that everybody says together he decided to join in loudly with his best creaky door impression!
Hi all - Sunday night and LO has been asleep for hours, I have a pizza and two large bacardis inside me and watching Supernanny.
Omy - CONGRATS on the crawling. I am of course not jealous either but DP is not happy and has instructed me to make sure LO is crawling by the end of tomorrow

. He sticks his bum in the air when he's getting his massage but definitely not got the strength to move or push his chest up yet.
Tyaca - nice to see you back. It must be a lot for you to get used to. I grew up in the country but would still find it very hard to leave the 24 hour grocery shops, public transport, friends around the corner etc that we've got in London although I am also jealous of your new country life. Well done for coping with virus as well.
Thanks for the poo story

LO is now on proper solid poos and on Friday did one that was so big it took two flushes to disappear

(no not toilet trained just yet but washable nappies getting emptied) Sent DP a picture of it at work - he didn't really appreciate it much though.
Sally - good for you for making some more RL friends. Backpack dispatch delayed - grrr - hope it's here in time for next weekend.
Princess and Sarah - hope the engagement / wedding parties went well - sounds fun! Would love a new dress and night out by myself. Princess glad you and DH finding some together time as well. Children in bed by 630 is good!
We took LO to a wedding near Oxford yesterday - it was lovely cause a lot of my climbing friends (was a climbing wedding)have got new babies too. LO was the first baby to be taken out of the church though - in the past we've been so critical of parents who let their children ruin wedding services so there was no way we were going to let him squeak through the vows.
Bean - hope DS2 ok. When LO did his plummet from the bed I considered long and hard whether to own up to DP (and his mum!) but decided I'd better just in case he went cross eyed or anything later on and need to go to hospital!
Well my little man is just fab at the moment - he's doing so much and getting so excited and happy about things. We stayed at my parents last night on the way back from wedding and they're just besotted with him (as are we of course). Sleeping is a bit better and progressing slowly with the solids.
What a long post. Good night xx
She's not really crawling! she only moved about 6 inches!! with her face pressed into the carpet and her bum in the air. She hasn't rolled either way yet....
I have been reading all the BLW blogs and info - and watching utube vidoes of clever babies eating huge lumps of broccoli and sweet potato. Am trying to get up the courage to try it as I have a pathological fear of choking!! I think LO was grumpy today due to hunger. She fell asleep crying poor love. I bet she wakes me tonight for some boob!
Alkar - I read something about the watery liquid on babyledweaning.com aitch said that the only time her LO puked after gagging what came out was watery liquid....it was in the 'gagging' topic - you can see I'm obsessed!
Well done Leila, crawling already, I'm not jealous at all omy. My friend came over with her 1year old last week and I was racing all over the house watching him. So far DS is rolling front to back and back again and is sitting up quite happily
Bad luck with the keys Sarah, hope you enjoy your week off. Have you got anything planned?
Have started weaning DS. He is eating 2 meals a day and so far will eat anything he's given. Has anyone else noticed their LOs puking up watery liquid after a solid feed? DS has always been sick a lot but its always been milk.
Its DSs christening on Sunday. I am now in panic mode. We've got a linen suit for DS too Leesmum, didn't want the traditional gown but theres not much available for boys is there?
Sorry to hear about your cat princess, hope thats the end of your bad run and things start getting better for you all now.
LOL bean at hoping your DH doesnt notice the bruising

hope your DS is ok
Omy - crawling! Wow, am so impressed! Ds2 has managed to roll over and
roll back!! And that's about it!

Rozzy - my hair is not coming out in clumps but boy the plug hole is a mess!! As I'm getting older my hair seems to be drying out a bit so it would probably just be the kind thing to do to chop it a bit.
Sally - ds2 is pulling on mine too though, which just may have something to do with it!
Egg - hope you are having a good time in Ireland.
Tyaca - hope you get to see more of your dh (although in my world there is a limit to how much of that is A Good Thing!!

)
Princess - you sound in fine fettle, hope things are still good with you. Wow, dressed up and on a train - just reading it is making me feel giddy!!

Ds2 is currently sporting a nice bump/bruise combo as he fell off the bed this morning

Note to self: rolling over means he can actually
move now. Oops. Am actually hoping that dh won't notice. He hasn't so far.
Hi everyone.
Tyaca - we were looking at photos from when ds1 was little the other day and in every single one I had trackies on, hair all over the place and glasses on (normally wear contacts). Dh was having a good laugh at my hair and particularly shabby clothes!
Omy - omg crawling already!! Ds3 is a long way off that. In fact I think he might not crawl at all as he's far happier being on his feet. If I take his hands when he's lying down he pulls himself up to sitting then pushes up onto his feet. Probably quite easy for him since his legs are almost as wide as they are long (also noticed yesterday that his arms are almost as long as his stumpy legs - I have given birth to a monkey

).
Good point re hair falling out beany. My hair isn't coming out in clumps but I'm definitely shedding a lot more than usual. So maybe I should wait a bit before getting the thickness thinned out a bit.
Sally - my lo always wakes up when we're going to bed. Think he might sleep for longer when he moves into his own room?
We went to the beach this morning - not my best ever idea. It was pretty windy so sand was blowing everywhere. Lo's face/ears and hair were covered with sand. I also had to feed him so there's lots on sand in my bra now - lovely!! Fulfilled ds1s morbid fascination though as he saw 3 dead crabs and a dead fish!
hullo all. large doses of ibuprofen and i am a changed woman. we got tennants for our flat yesterday so hopefully will have dh around now that he doesnt have to do any more DIY on it.
i dont know who else was thinking about the new haircut, but bean i too am v tempted to do something drastic. feel like such a scruffball. put make up on this morning which is v unusual for me. when not working seems v easy to live in trackies and

pjs all day.
gill, i did smile when i saw princess's comment about how impressed she is at how much stuff you do with lo. i always think that too. you sound v Competent-With-A-Captial-C

.
rozzy, no i dont drive. i am rubbish. i quit after half a dozen lessons when i was seventeen. my instructor told me that it was probably a good thing as i was the worst person he'd ever taught and then he went on to tell me about this person he'd taught who only had use of one arm and one leg. apparently even he was better than me. going to make life easier on myself and learn on an auto this time. had a few lessons five years ago and enjoyed it much more. would have taken test then if i hadnt met DH and his car!
princess

at ferdie only sleeping on your chest. even the thought of that makes me want to leave home. know what you mean re looking forward to a train journey. i am about to get a tram into town on the spurious pretext of getting a battery for my radio.. how did dh cope with looking after the kids while you went to party?
leesmum --- no no no! has to be whiskey in the
morning coffee evening cocoa ....
sally - lol there is a breakaway group of sleep is for the weak in the meet ups section. apparently they now all sleep but wanted to keep in touch with each other.
thursday - gl with the food, and omy too with bottle. hi to all else.
Hello all,
Well I joined the sleep is for the weak thread and lo! DS slept for 4 hours straight! think he might even have slept for longer but I accidentally woke him up while getting ready for bed!
am still rather sleepy, still in dressing gown though LO is resplendent in lime-green and yellow stripes

(better than it sounds)
DS christening is at the end of Sept - so cant get him an outfit yet in case he grows out of it / doesnt grow into it. (who knows what his weight will do once we start weaning?)
princess - hope your friend's engagement went well
omy - wow! that your LO is crawling! you will have to childproof the house pronto!
rozzy - lol at 5 month growth spurt!
sarah - look forward to seeing the photos from the wedding!
beany - my hair is falling out loads too - not helped by DS sudden fascination for pulling it, quite hard!
right had better get in the shower or we will never make it to church
Rozzy - funny that about standing up - I have the same situation - LO is better at taking the bottle of I am walking around! Very tricky to do that, hold LO and hold bottle! (she holds it for a few secs then drops it!) she took 2 oz yesterday and I was ecstatic. Today only took 1/2 oz though - seems to depend on her mood when I offer it. She really loves holding her sippy cup too but only has a tiny bit from it.
Princess - so nice to hear you had a good night. LO has not rolled but - guess what - she managed a bit of crawling today! It is hilarious to see her bum up in the air as she struggles along with her face on the floor! Her arm muscles need strengthening! Hope you have a great time out at your friend's engagement - no doubt your DH will be thrilled to see you when you return!
Tyaca - hope you are feeling better - whiskey in hot choc - I must try that!
Am thinking of having a new haircut too! Need to do it soon though as at this rate it will all have fallen out by Christmas. Bah.
Dh's birthday today (50, yikes!

) so have been for a lovely family day out. Am shattered though so am off to bed soon, hope you are all well.
hello all,
Just popping on- off out with the girld from work tonight!!!! will be a quiet one as have my best friends wedding tomorrow e are so excited about it.
please with my hair cut- will post pics from wedding tomorrow for you all- although i hate having my pics taken!!!
Glad to hear you and DH had a great nite princess,
have great time in uxbridge leesmum,
Hi to everyone else,
good to c u back on here Tyaca
Hope all are well
Princess - You've been through a lot but seeing how his illness has traumatized Ferdie must be really hard. I suppose all you can do is give him lots of cuddles

.
Omy - my sil could only get her lo to take a bottle initially if she was standing up holding him. Would be easier if you could get her to use a cup though - ds3 loves having a little drink of water from his cup although don't think he would manage a full milk feed!
Sally - lo not having a growth spurt unless it's lasted 5 months!! It's been so reassuring to hear that others lo's are still feeding frequently too! I think I'm going to go back to work officially in December but due to holidays won't actually start until January. So night feeds etc not a problem for quite a while yet.
Sarah - I love carrot cake - like you say not good for the waistline! When I bake with the boys it's generally just a basic sponge or biscuits.
Tyaca - I grew up in the country and my mum and dad still live in the same house. No shops for miles and only around 3 buses per day! Dad works on a farm so they live in one of the cottages but will move when he retires in 3 years time. Do you drive and have a car? Would imagine it might get a bit isolated for you otherwise.
If anyone fancies some retail therapy promotional code cosmo08 will get you 20% discount off the oasis online store.
PIL coming for dinner so better get myself organised!
Sallyforth - there's a sleep is for the weak thread going in Sleep topic.
have a good time in uxbridge leesmum, hope you get a bit of sun-fingers double crossed.
so glad to have you back online tyaca. a huge bonus to your money saving efforts having no shops. am struggling to think of a positive point for midge bites.-i know, means v unpolluted air. thank goodness you still have a good supply of whisky
we had a superb night last night. dh home early on his new regime. kids both asleep by 6.30. bottle of wine, dvd and yummy food . things def back on track-bound to slide again a bit, what with sleep deprivation, but fantastic now. really looking forward to getting to my friend's engagement this afternoon, even the train journey on my own. have a fab dress to wear which i bought in m and s they have fantastic clothes in there at the mo- i also bought leopard print cardi-fab fab fab. want to look my best dh has called a friend of his to help him out.wonder how they'll manage, they have to take the cat to the vet too...watch this space. just had to stop writing to clean pee off the cupboard doors, floor, baby gymn, socks, baby books...ahh, the good life.
lo started rolling on monday, hasn't repeated it for a few days even with lots of trying but a good start and shows he's on the road to recovery

.
we're doing ferdie's 2nd christening type thing-don't what you'd call it

in september. must sort it too and street party.
Ahhaa the return of the night poster

Hi sally its nice to hear from you x when is the christening? we are having DS2's on the 24th of aug.We have got him a white linen suit to wear. i havent seen anything for me yet

When do you go back to work?
Tyaca it sound lovely where you're living now. That must have been some poo explosion from lo though, How are you feeling today? any better, you could do without being sick whilst moving though eh? P.S brandy is SO much better in hot chocolate

Well we are off down to Uxridge in a couple of hours so i'll say goodbye to you all now. Take care everyone and i'll take some great holiday pics to show you when we get back. Bye x
...And here I am doing the 2nd feed of the night already
sigh - roll on Weaning! DH assures me he will get up in the night to give DS a bottle.

I am dubious about this...
Hello, it's the night poster again

All is going well here, DH is being a gem, am making lots and lots of RL mum friends (yay), and planning LO's christening, can't decide whether I will get him one of the traditional white frilly dresses!!! think it's maybe gotta be done!!!
leesmum - am NOT glammed up at all! more like thrift shop chic round here, both LO and I are wearing 2nd hand/charity shop clothes because petrol/mortgage/food so blardy expensive these days. At least we are warm and have a roof over our heads. Am

at all your tales of haircuts. My last one was only 2 months ago so can't really justify another one yet

Sarah - am outraged at the Farleys milk thing! we are going to have to choose a formula for when I go back to work and I can tell you it will NOT be rip-off Heinz

Gill - has your backpack arrived yet? am excited for you. our friends have one and they LOVE it.
Thursday - I tried LO in a back carry with my wrap the other day - OWWWW how he pulled my hair! I think I did not wrap him v well and he did not feel secure. q cool though that he knows to hang on to me! He also pulled my earring out!
Egg - hope you have fun in Ireland! remember Guinness is good for you! (supposedly

)
Beany - know what you mean about going back to work feelings - glad I'm not alone in that, thought I was showing a lack of moral fibre or something but I guess it is a very natural reaction if you have bonded with your dc.
Beany, Gill, rozzy - am still bf as well. the night wakings are an arse though. rozzy do you think your LO is having a growth spurt atm?
Omy - so

at your LO sleeping through the night. my LO also growls while feeding if he feels he has been treated unjustly - usually because he suddenly decides he wants to feed NOW NOW NOW and it's not always possible!
princess - glad things are starting to get back on an even keel, I'm sure Ferdie will settle down really soon - babies have amazing recuperative powers. Hang on in there!
tyaca - are you sure you do not have some strange zoonosis from living in a rural area

and EEEWWWWW re poo story (we haven't had any poo storiers for at least a week!!) that's one aspect of co-sleeping nobody mentions!!!
I HAVE INTERNET! I
LOVE INTERNET.
hullo all. i have only lived in the country/burbs for four days and i have been bitten about 6 times. the nearest walkable shop is twenty min and they close at 6pm! madness. its so quiet i swear it is a much better place to go round knife-criming than south london streetsv

.
not an easy move. got some silly virus that means i want to sleep non-stop and cant move neck cause glands so swollen. dd waking a lot at night and i am exhausted but dh took over last night and i went to dr's today am feeling much better. think another night;s sleep and i will be nearly mended. weds night brought dd into bed at 4am just to try to get her to settle while hopefully i could sleep (WHAT? i can
never sleep with dd in bed) and she gurgled away happily for ten min, i half snooxed and then lo! a mega nappy buster poo saw me changing linen and cleaning mattess. before reaching for the coffee pot. ooooh grrr.
peace out all. look forward to proper catch up tomo. i'm off to add a tot of whiskey to my hot chocolate ...
Gill no that wasn't my new hair-do!! as usual it was put up in a clip out of the way because DS2 loves nothing more tham grabbing a great big handfull

and any earings i have on, so "this week i will be mostly wearing my hair up and having no earings in"
I agree with you Gill, it would be lovely to put faces to names, i imagine that all the other mummies are all glamed up and super yummy, while it takes me all my time to put a bit of mascara on lol lol
Omy i see that Leila is also a scoffer, i'm sure your DD is having a great time in Croatia, i remember going to France and Germany when i was in school and mum going hysterical because i didn't ring EVERY night (this was a long time ago before mobiles)
Thursday any luck with the purees? you are right to savour every moment with your lo even if you do have more children, it really does go as quick as everyone says x
Princess i can't blame Ferdie for wanting to snuggle up with you at night, it wont do him any harm in the long run, but i bet it's hard for you to get a proper nights sleep.
Sarah well done on making the cake, me and DS1 like to do rice crispie cakes together, its the easiest and quickest cake to do (lazy mummy)
Take care all xxx
Rozzy - LO also likes to be fed ever 2.5/3 hours - and the book says she should be 4 hourly! When I go out for 3-4 hours she is furious when I get back! (she shows this by no eye contact and growling while feeding!)
Princess - no word from DD in croatia - hope that means she is having a great time! Though would like a text at least! How stressful to have a job where they can ring you at 10.30 at night! Our cat had a similar injury - got his paw stuck in a tin can and sliced of the pad of his paw - £400 later is was all better!! (NO insurance!!!) I am not surprised Ferdie wants to sleep on you after his trauma - and yours. Hopefully he will settle down soon so you can get some proper sleep!
Gorgeous pics leesmum - our babies are all so big now!
Sarah - my mouth is watering at the thought of your carrot cake! (must go to gym NOW!)
btw am having a haircut on Monday - mostly because my hair is falling out big time due to BF - so short hair it is!
Sick

- had not thought about that Thursday - tbh am more concerned about hairpulling and eye gouging.
Like the new pics Leesmum especially the boys having a kiss! Is that your new haircut in the garden pic?
Would like to see more pics of mums (with new hairdos if applicable) as it's nice to see what we all look like.
Princess - all sounds like hard work. 10 days at the vets!!!

Good thing you are insured, as you say.
night all
Princess, how are you managing if your ds will only sleep on your chest? Are you doing shifts with your dh, or can you doze while ds is asleep? Loads of sympathy, after all you've been through sleep deprivation must be really rough. Great that you found the counseller helpful.
Gill, is your baby sick much? DD is still sick loads, I'm just imagining myself with her in a backpack and the two of us covered in baby sick, oh it wouldn't be a pretty sight

. Think I'll stick to front carrying sling for the moment so at least I can reach to clean us both up!
DD is 6 months this week so I guess I had better give her some food! I showed her some carrot and banana today in a baby led weaning style, but she looked completely disinterested. Ah well, maybe I'll whiz up some purees tomorrow and see if we have any success with that. She still has a couple of feeds in the night, but strangely I don't really mind. Night feeds are so quiet and peaceful and snuggly, and I don't know if I'll have any more babies, so I kind of enjoy them. I'm a freak, I know.
sarah good effort on baking!
rozzy and bean am impressed with the bf-sounds hard hard work. i hate having a bad haircut, it can really get you down, hope you're starting to like it rozzy.
gill im constantly in awe of how much you get out with malcolm. so great he's able to be so happy while you do something you like too.
leesmum agree with your comment about the gruffalo. when he came in tonight dh asked me if i'd been reading all the stuff about the wife of the canoeist. not a good question for stroppy tired wife who hasn't sat down all day except to read the potty book for girls five times over and my first book of colours.i don't think he'll be asking that one again.
omy what a bummer dd isn't drinking from a bottle still. how's your other dd doing in croatia? or is she back yet.
feeling a touch guilty, dh's phone has just rung twice with two different people from work trying to contact him. don't know whether should go up and tell him. i think it might all be kicking off at work judging from who called. but he has left his phones downstairs as part of his new family time plan and it is 10.15 fgs.hmmm.
mil is threatening another visit. obviously that's enough to spark a row, never mind her actually staying. am going to prevent her. dd is still really clingy and was freaked out by pil coming down to stay night as she thought it meant i was going back to hospital. ds still goes crazy if you put him down on his back in his cot as he thinks he's about to have something nasty done. he is only managing to stay asleep at night if he sleeps on our chest-not fun. to top it all one of our cats has a full thickness cut through his paw that has needed 2 visits to vet, stitches, anaesthetics, bandages, antibiotics, anti inflammatories and worst of all 10 days kept in. i think they're fleecing us with cost too at vets-thank god we've got insurance.
right phone just rang again. felt so guilty i answered it. dh's colleague was trying to be polite but im sure he wanted me to go and wake dh up although said he didn't. oh bum.
hi all back from work, one more shift to go til week off!!!
Meant to tell you Ds and i have baked a carrot cake today- and i must say is is lovely- not good for weight loss but lovely!!!!
(first attempt at real baking we ususally buy those rubbish character boxes)
{proud emoction}
Hi all-
Still no keys cost us £68 to replace them al yesterday!!!!

Having my hair cut tomorrow ready for best mates wedding on sunday we all have new outfits ready too so all very exciting here.
Hope everyone is ok,
spk later off to get ready for work- only 2more days then i have a whole week off!!!! yeah
Thanks Rozzy, yes his thighs are really chunky (just like mummy's) he's not going to be tall but thats no surprise as no-one in our family or DP's family is over 5ft 9ins

well had my haircut and it looks lovely, it's only had a GOOD trim but it needed it. On a good day my hair is similar to kate humble's do only longer.
Rozzy enjoy the peace
Oh they're lovely pics leesmum! Your lo looks like he has chubby thighs like mine in that photo where he's sleeping!!
Ds1 and ds2 are at sports club this afternoon and ds3 is in bed so I'm having some much appreciated quiet time!
I've just put some more pics on of me and the lads.
I know beany - just feel like we've made no progress at all in the last 5 months!!
Rozzy - please don't be too despondent. That is pretty much ds2's usual feeding pattern too. I have had a couple of all nighter flukes before and it always reverts back to the usual night wakings. Remember that b/milk is digested pdq so lots of feeds are the norm. It will get better soon - I promise!!

Haircut sounds fab btw!!
Yep - he's a pig!!! Hairdresser said blunt cuts were 'in' so I just let him do what he wanted. So it's all one length and I think it looks a bit heavy (my hair's quite thick). I'll give it a few days and if I haven't gotten used to it I'll go back and ask him to cut into it a bit.
Raining here too.
Hi Rozzy...thats some feeding

here's hoping the solids will fill him up a bit more. your Andrew is a scoffer just like James lol.
Works day out, it's alright for some

It's peeing it down here, i hate days like this. I'm also having my hair cut today. What don't you like about your hair?
Hi all! Everyone seems to be doing so well and I feel like I'm just treading water atm. Lo is still bf 9 or 10 times a day. Have resorted to starting him off on solids and have had a couple of nights where he's gone for around 4.5 hours without a feed but it was back to 3 hourly last night and I've fed him 4 times already today.
Dh has just left for a works day out, the weather is crap, had my hair cut yesterday and don't really like it so just generally fed up.
Moan over
Beany - 7 hours is a result!

Egg- hope that night nanny works miracles! - hope Ireland puts on some sunshine for you!
Leesmum- thanks for the advice re brown bananas - tried some this morning but she wasn't interested. She seems to be most hungry in the evenings which suits me fine!
I have tried EBM so it is not the formula that is the prob - it is the technique of drinking out of a bottle i think. She doesn't refuse the bottle - just chews the teat as if to say - 'oh this is a nice teething ring - thanks!'!!
I will try putting milk in the beaker but at the moment I am just putting water into it until she is really good at drinking out of it. She also like to chew the beaker teat!
12 hours is fab!! I got the bunting out this morning as ds2 slept for 7 hours!! Have been up since 5.30 but did not have to get up in the night so that's a real result atm!!
Hi Omy, wow 12 hours is great

is it the bottle lo isn't keen on or the formula? because if she'll drink out of a beaker you could try putting the formula in it.I can't remember the last time i read a book

i used to read all the time now if i pick a book up it's either Thomas or The Gruffalo!
Enjoy your dinner tonight and here's hoping Leila doesn't wake just as you are starting your main course

lol
LO also has a loud screamy noise that worries onlookers! Just testing out their vocal capacities though.
We have definitely gone into a new phase - Leila slept for 12 hours straight 2 nights in a row and she is having little tastes of our food. She went mad for humous and oat cakes but I didn't let her have much as I was worried about the salt content. Sweet potato went down well and she is getting used to having water out of an avent beaker. I am trying a bottle each day in preparation for going back to work and she is not very impressed! I am going to keep trying and not get stressed about it - just keep plugging away once a day (though what a waste of formula!)
I am hoping to keep up bf when I go back to work but I definitely don't want to fall into the trap of LO waking all night to feed and refusing bottles all day!
The sleeping through the night means that I am not tired in the evenings - I usually hit the sack soon after LO at around 9pm but now I am wandering around the flat at 10pm wondering what to do with myself! I even read some of a book last night!!!

Weird.
Am now looking through cookery books for inspiration as have some friends coming for dinner tonight! Yummmmm
Beany i'm sure Ds2 with be fine with the CM, it's natural to feel a bit anxious about it though. You know exactly what to do and when to do it with your baby and we worry that someone else won't be able to give them the same care that we do

Horrah for rolling over!!
Gill is lo happier now is is filling his nappies

I have been giving lo baby porridge each morning this week and he loves it but i also add a cube of pureed apple and pear so that he's getting pleanty of fruit. We've also gone on to the hungrier milk as well and the feeds are starting to spread out a little more, 3hrs instead of 2.
Egg have a brill time away, we are going away on sun morning so i'll catch up when you get back.
How is everyone else?
Sarah, still no keys??
Yup still b/f too Leesmum - today at 2, 8 and 11am, 2, 5 and 9pm

. Plus butternut squash and pear (yummy yummy yummy YUCK cue screaming fit) and banana and prune (yummy yummy yummy big smiles all round). Had no idea bananas were such baddies but the addition of prune seems to be having the desired effect!
LO has spent most of the day shrieking at a VERY high pitch apparenty out of pure happiness. He sounds like he's being strangled and attracted a lot of worried looks (we were at the climbing wall a lot of the day) but he was just sitting happily on the mat bashing away at things with his stick and creating a noise like a banshee.
Glad the night nanny doing her stuff Egg- have a fabulous time in Ireland (sans DCs?)
Gill - ds1's CM used to go on and on about banana making some children/babies constipated. I have ended up with a fear of the things! How is he getting on? Good luck with the bushbaby. I have recently got an ergo and it's made carrying much easier again!
Leesmum - yes, am still b/feeding. Ds2 is 25 weeks today so we are nearly there!!
Egg - glad the night nanny is helping. Sleep governs just about everything!!
Princess - glad you are feeling better.

Hi to everyone else!!

Have found a CM for ds2 for when I go back to work in November. I should be relieved (and I am in a way) but the thought of handing him over and going off just feels very odd and the thought of it is quite upsetting atm.
He has finally rolled over though so it's the end of the non-mobile baby days for me!!
Hello girls!
Mine used to love a concoction involving prunes but both went hysterical when I tried to give it to them yesterday and we had to swap to carrot and parsnip which went down a storm. They are now having chicken or salmon with their lunch too!
Night nanny is going well. She is just concentrating on DD so they are both sleeping up in loft while DS2 sleeps in DTs normal room on his own. DD woke for 15 mins at 2am but then slept past 7 when I woke her up. However she is not taking hardly any milk in the morning so we really need to drop 10pm feed, but she rarely takes more than 1 or 2oz before bed so it is a nightmare.
DH at home tomorrow as it is DS1's sports day, and then on Friday am off to IRELAND so will prob not be around much til Sunday.
Sarah did you find your keys? We lost a set of keys last year in our old house. Twice before I had found them in the kitchen bin where DS1 had put them [bleurgh] so I can only guess he managed to sneak them in again and they went out into the big bin and were taken by the rubbish collectors... We have though found numerous things in the toy box in the past.
Strangely I opened the cracker barrel tin yesterday morning at DS1's request and found 7 wooden people from his wooden boat, 4 wooden pegs from another toy, his toothbrush and a pen... and a few crackers!
Gill make sure that the bananas are very ripe almost brown otherwise it can really bung them up, B squash and pear is lovely and lo devours this

20lbs thats brill, are you still BF, well done you if you are,i don't know what Ds2 weighs, he was 16lb a month ago.
Well i didn't buy anything yesterday and i didn't mean to appear smug when i said i was a 10/12 its just that i always seem to be inbetween sizes. 12 is a bit big but 10 is a bit small...wonder if you can get a size 11 anywhere
Leesmum we had prunes and banana today and it was a BIG success (on the enjoyment front though no poos yet

) although I think I will put less prunes in next time cause he went crazy afterwards I think cause it is so sweet. He definitely has a sweet tooth- might try some pumpkin or squash with fruit next - thanks for the suggestion Sarah.
Just bought the bushbaby backpack on amazon, as recommended by mumsnet reviews. We've got a few outdoorsy trips coming up and DS is now 20lbs

definitely not going in a baby bjorn any more! Very excited by purchase will report back when it arrives....
keys def not in toy box- or inside playhouse in the garden!!!!! neva mind eh!!!!!
well lovely to see the sunshine again
LOL at toy box idea - but seriously what a pain to lose keys! Sally - hope your night times improve!
Sarah - everything is going up so much at the moment. I am trying to avoid going to the supermarket at all!
We only bought tights and vests - but it was fun looking at all the shoes in office and top shop. Getting ready for high school in september!!! so exciting!
size 10/12 - I wish! I am STILL 70 kilos (was weighed today at the gym) - bugger!
Sarah are you only shouting 5 times a day? you're doing better than me then

I can't believe Farleys have put 3QUID on a can of formula, bloody robbing ba%*&rds! How have they got away with doing that? is there a number on the back that you can ring and complain to?
My boys are doing great thanks for asking Ds1 is becoming more and more...is confident/cheeky the word i'm looking for

and Ds2 will be 6 months on sat!!!
Just a thought but have you looked in toy box for keys??? lol
Hi lees mum- were all going great her, DD still is an angel baby- sleeps from 7 til 7 every night, feeding is a bit hit and miss- Rosie seems to have a sweet tooth and wants fruts as appossed to vegetables- (DS just ate whatever ui gave him) although she like punklin and pear- so has lots of that-
Having trouble getting her milk too- Farleys have dicontinued their range and bought out a new one called
nurture which has not yet hit the sotres near me and is a whopping £3-00 more per can!!!!!!!!

so not sure what to do at the mo- i stockpiled and have 2 tins left but after that who knows!!!!!We chose farleys as it was one of the cheapest and best suited DS when her was a baby, any how i am sure it wil sort!!!
DS is ok- behaviour seems to be getting better however at least once a day he is on the stairs having time out!!! and at least 5 times a day i find myself shouting!!!! (BAD MUMMY)
How are you beauitiful boys doing???
Still not found keys oh dear!!!!
Ahh Sally you are becoming a regular night poster

are you still mixed feeding? And has lo got any teeth yet? I think all babies get more aware at this age and can hear and see everything thats been going on and want a nosey, its getting harder to settle them.
Omy it sounds like you had a lovely time just you and DD2, did you buy anything nice? i'm off shopping with mum today to get a few new things for my trip away next week, i don't even know what size i am but i'm guessing its still a 10/12.
Gill if lo isn't keen on water you could add 1 part fresh orange to 6 part water and see if that helps. Also pureed prunes with apple is very good for "stubborn bowels" (as my mum likes to say!)
Sarah have you found the keys yet?

how are your two doing?
well here I am again posting in the middle of the night. honestly you would think I was nocturnal or something. alas it is DS who appears to be nocturnal.... every time I think he's finished feeding, oh no, on he goes again.....
princess - good to hear from you, your counsellor sounds ACE. I'm glad it's not just me living on cereal at the moment. Might pluck up courage to do an online supermarket-shop tomorrow. how cool that you are an osteopath. keep thinking I would like to do something like that but it's a lot of study/training (expensive, plus having a baby has turned my brain to goo)
omy - oh I so wish I could do this and leave ds with DH, unfort he is never blardy there so I will have to revel vicariously in your shopping trip!!!
sarah - hope you find your keys!!!! what a stress!!
gill - have you tried cycling LO's legs, massaging bum with warm cloth etc? now he is on solids are you giving him enough water? maybe (totally uneducated opinion here) it is just his gut getting used to solids? we had a weaning talk today and apparently too much fibre is bad for babies (anyone know why???) no other gems I'm afraid.
right off to lurk on weaning threads

How is Ferdie doing physically Princess? Apart from the not settling which a lot of us seem to be experiencing at the mo.
We had another night of DS waking 4 times in the night. He's just not himself. Thanks for the comments Egg - he will sleep when I put him down after a night feed (or does usually) but it's the transition from day to night time he doesn't like, or being in his cot in the daytime. He's been eating quite a lot of banana and now I'm told that makes them constipated - there's just been tiny little bits of poo in his nappies for a good few days. Poor wee man you can watch him trying to go; he says "hup" and goes red in the face and it is SO adorable but very sad too. (only a mother could love watching someone trying to poo...

) Will have to try something else tomorrow - prunes? Any suggestions anyone? I am very crap and unorganised at the whole food thing, really need to get a grip and plan things properly.
Egg and Tyaca - spooky about your dreams! I had a dream about Ginger the other night but can't remember what happened.
Sarah - hope keys turn up before you get them all recut.
Hello Lovemymum!
Omy - had forgotton or never knew your DD was so old. It's good to give the DH a taste of the bad times just in case they forget that our lives aren't all easy.
Princess- I am glad to hear the councelling went well for you- you sound so upbeat in your message-
How is ferdie doing???
Have a fab time at the engagement party on sat u deserve to let your hair down you have been thru so much xxx
Hi everyone else- we have been very quiet today is overyone ok??/
i have spent my day hunting for DH's keys- house keys, van keys and work keys(all on one ring)- we have misplaced them somewhere- they were used to lock the door yesterday when we went out for lovley afternoon in the park, when we got back mum opened the door with her key so no need for ours- anyway at 6-30am dh comes wakes me asking where i put them- i said in the car- nope not there- oh dear this is going to be expensive!!!!!

Had good night at work- the time went soo fast!!!!
Princess! Great to hear you are feeling a bit better!
Hi Lovemymum!
Left LO with DH today at 'cry time' 4-6pm - as I needed to spend some time with DD2 - I realise I have not had any one to one time with her for ages - what with Oz trip and babe etc. We had a great time (shopping of course!) but DH was grumpy when we returned. Then I had to whizz up dinner as I knew food would cheer him up! LO was teething big time today - very pissed off she was! and her tongue kept feeling her lower gums! She has suddenly got more sure of herself - she tries so hard to communicate her needs with various grunting and squealing noises as well as throwing her body around the place! And her little eyes trying so hard to tell you what she means!!
Princess GOOD FOR YOU xxx sounds like the counsellor knows what she's on about. I think sometimes us mums' worry so much about keeping every one else happy we forget about ourselves. Lets all try to get a little bit more time for ourselves

Ginger how's your dad doing?
Hi LOVEMYMUM nice to hear from you x
ginger my dad had a gallbladder disaster too. it was terrifying and his private gp didn't even listen to me when i rang him.remember dr finally took notice when dad was losing consciousness and they just managed to operate in time. my dad was lucky being not that old at the time and no diabetes or mrsa. you must all be so frightened having him back in again. what a load of balls ups for you all. i really hope you get away to devon and enjoy a bit of a break. my dad says he has no ill effects except a sore tummy when he eats ice cream-which he still does in large quantities.
tyaca i've forgotten why esther will be in your room til 6 months? how's her beautiful red hair doing[am biased]? hope the move goes well.
rozzy i love the pictures too. wish i could get some good ones of ds. he always moves as i'm trying.
speaking as an osteopath-the one sided bf could be due to problems with lo's jaw. if there were ever any problems with the balance of the jaw they will probably get worse with teething when everything gets tighter and more painful for them around the base of the skull and jaw. could do worse than try an osteopath.
well done on your weight loss leesmum and others. i seem to be mainly on a cereal based diet-sadly the sugary breakfast type rather than wholesome grains. just can't be faffed with cooking.
egg-roll on the night nanny. i'm pinning my hopes on her too. you've got to tell us everything she does. ferdie is waking alot still and not settling to sleep without hours of patience. one of my best friends had a night nanny that had never failed with a kid's night time routine. unfortunately harry was so bad she resigned

. yes, susan wept when she left. he was waking every half hour at that point. and even he is now sleeping through the night at 17 months so there is a small light at the end of the tunnel for all of us. you must be having a hideous time-well done for still being able bodied enough to turn on balamory at 6am.
well, the counsellor was good. have forgiven dh for all the denial and working throughout hospital stay. also not raging about tennis incident now. counsellor said i should have complained louder and not given a stuff about what mil thought and that in general i should stop worrying so much about how everyone else is-ok then, i think i'll take that one and run with it-starting with going to my mate's engagement party next weekend and leaving dh to fend for himself with the lo's all afternoon and evening.
things are much better thank you all of you
Where does the time go!?
Princess - I also had the "too much coffee" feeling. It's horrible. You have been thru so much. I hope the counselling helps. Diff in breathing sounds like panic attack, i agree. Maybe go to your Dr, if you are open to temporary medication to get you through the time you need to recover from this horrible ordeal.
Egg - your babes waking each other up sounds miserable! It would be fab if the night nanny could sort it! What a saviour.
Leesmum - my boobs were like empty baloons after BF for about a year - the fat does return but it seems to take ages! a boy called Paul eh? I am going to try butternut squash soon! today she chewed on a crust of toast quite happily and sucked banana from my sticky fingers! yum. LO sleeps through sometimes! it is tantalising. She always wakes for feeds in the night if I have had to leave her for work in the day. Yesterday i was away for 5 hours and she made me pay last night! She is sleeping soundly now though! I think I have lost some weight from cycling to work for 2 weeks but I don't dare weigh myself as it is too depressing to go up again! I always put on weight in the hols as I don't cycle as much - though I am going to the gym as often as I can - I really enjoyed going with my 16 yr old DD - though she is now in Croatia for 2 weeks!! (with best friend and her family) Miss her!
rozzy - I am 'on hols' though I am teaching at a summer course this week - only 1 hour per day so not too stressful!
Ginger!!! Your poor dad. Bloody hospitals! What pisses me off is the disgusting food when you are trying to recover from an op you need wonderful nutritious food not bland goo. I took my juicer into hospital when my dad was recovering from a heart op and found a kitchen and made him a yummy fresh juice! Hope he recovers quickly . As for one boob preference - are you expressing from the side he doesn't like? Otherwise you prob will dry up on that side. Why don't you start a specific thread and ask the mumsnet experts. Bovril! brill idea about 'pretend left boob'!
Thursday - beach sounds fun. I have just found a new website for waterproof clithing for kids! muddypuddles.com - it's great!
Tyaca - move monday!! do you mean today! that seems to have come round rather quick! Hope your new place is gorgeous! 3am!!!! go back to bad you mad woman - coffee idea is bonkers! (hope you are asleep now!)
Hello everyone! Am loving all your accounts of weaning, With DS am going to try to hold out till 6mo (another whole month!) because of v bad food allergies in the family. Am impressed so many of your LOs are doing all that stuff! DS is still nowhere near sitting, and can only roll one way, and has no sign of any teeth - tbh I am quite glad he can't roll as he is still sleeping in our bed!

still no sign of the dreaded Chicken Pox here - we have another week to wait until he gets the all clear.
Just had a FAB few days with MIL. She played with LO loads and I finally had a bit of "me time"

But she took us all out to lunch yesterday and Ds got in a right state, cryingcrying and needing to be walked round the car park all the time ... so we skipped dessert

and went home uponwhich there was a magical transformation and he was good as gold

Gill - my LO likes to try to eat my fingers / arm / whatever and like yours I don't think he is really hungry, it's almost as if he is playing at feeding

beany - good luck with selling your flat, the newspapers are full of gloom and doom but round here things are still selling, just not super fast. hope your LO is a bit more settled at night now
Egg - how typical re babies crying only when in company! (see sunday lunch story above) am v curious to see what night nanny does to get your LOs to sleep through in only 5 days! - am in admiration at anyone who can do that job.
alkar - hope you're feeling better now, what bad luck getting asthma as an adult. do you think you could be allergic to anything that could be making it worse? (animals etc)
rozzy - loved your pics of your weaning attempts! my LO is also interested in plates/edges of tables but not really in the food - although he did reach for a slice of fruit cake the other day..... swiftly whisked away as it was MINE ALL MINE

omy - we are in same situation re: needing a routine - LO also tends to get overtired and has to cry himself to sleep, which I hate

the difficulty is in deciding what routine to choose.. let us know what you decide on
ginger - hope your dad is getting better now. cant believe they didnt give him insulin because no machine

- why couldn't they just inject him like normal??? oh well spose they must know best and all but it doesnt make sense to me.
tyaca - hope your move is going ok today. I also have noticed that people like to talk to DS when he is in sling. when he's sitting out it's like he's invisible but as soon as he's bundled up in the sling (closer to peoples eye level I spose) there are cries of "oh! how cute!" maybe its because in sling he rarely gets upset but just LOOKS around with big brown eyes

princess - hope things are ok with you and your family
I lost weight!!! yay!!!! just 1kg but who cares. think maybe it could have had something to di with MIL sleeping downstairs so I could not raid the fridge at 3am

Ginger how is your dad doing? Oh what a worry for you and your mum. Here's hoping he recovers soon xx
oh grrr, dd been awake for last hour and a half. thought she'd just got back to sleep but reckon i can hear her now. sometimes i wonder whether dd waking is as much about my depth of sleep. i am SO looking forward to her moving to own room. not sure i'll be able to hold out anotther two months. at least at new place i can bugger off to spare bedroom.
egg that is v v spooky. and pmsol at "really flash apartment block full of celebs and Shirley Bassey and Boyzone lived there too"

good to know who your subconscience rates as a-list...
dd def awake. got to be up again in three hours and temmpted to put coffee on and not try to go back to bed.
Egg - my lo is really pukey at the moment too. He's always been a bit sicky but over the last few days there's been much more coming up - hope it's just that he's taking too much milk. He was sick in the car on the way home tonight about an hour after he'd been fed and it reeked!! When does your night nanny arrive?
hi everyone- sorry to hear about your dad ginger, i hope he is on the mend, have u decided if you going to get away for a few days??
We have made the most of the weather and gone to the park- DS had great fun playing the the water jets- we had a picnic and stayed there most of the day- i now exhaused though- the weekends go far too fast-!!!
Hi to everyone hope all well,
OH MY GOD OH MY GOD OH MY GOD
Tyaca, I came on here to post about
my dream I had last night. I dreamt I came to
your house

. You moved to a really flash apartment block full of celebs and Shirley Bassey and Boyzone lived there too, and I came to see you. That is so very spooky. Good luck tomorrow.
Ginger am
so sorry about your poor dad. I hope he is continuing to do well and you put in a complaint. Hope you do manage to get away and enjoy yourself. Your mum knows how to reach you if she needs you.
Thursday next glad your DD is getting over chickenpox ok. My DD loves to smile at strangers, she is only miserable behind closed doors

.
Gill your DS is sounding a bit like my DS2 at the mo. His poos have changed dramatically and he has not had a proper one for 2 days. For the past week he has been waking up 2 or 3 times a night shouting hysterically. I am usually feeding him by 4:30/5am as well, when he used to get to 6 or later. Today he has been dribbling even more, puking a lot (only little bits, nothing sinister) and has, for the first time in his little life, got a spotty botty, so I think a tooth may indeed be on the way. Having said that DS1's first tooth seemed to be on the way for months and appeared on his 7 month bday.
Tyaca with DS1 I checked the book all the time to see what age the average baby does things (not even opened it this time). Crawling is 8 months on average. DS1 was 8 months and 1 day. First tooth is 7 months on average. Some babies crawl at 6 months (or even earlier I think!). DS2 moved about an inch today but it was not crawling, more a lurch while he sobbed. He has been a real misery today.
We drove all the way to London and back, and babies were good as gold in car, not a peep out of either of them, but they cried most of the time we were at my sister's house.
Bovril it's ok, I knew you didn't mean bfing your sister!!!
Gill I know you asked a few days back about LOs going off to sleep on their own etc. These two always go into cot awake and DS2 normally goes to sleep fairly quietly, DD normally cries a bit and then nods off although sometimes if I get her dead on at the right moment and catch her before she is overtired she goes without any fuss. The only time they go in asleep is sometimes after a night feed / early morning feed when they fall asleep on the bottle. My main problem with DS1 lay with him not knowing
how to go to sleep without me feeding him. Is it just his last feed of day that he screams at if he goes in awake, or after night feeds and at naps too? I had to bite the bullet and start putting DS1 in awake (also at about 6 months), and I would sit in the chair next to his cot and talk to him about his day while he drifted off (sometimes took an hour

), but gradually it took less time and he finally got used to going to sleep on his own.
Tonight, however, he has been in bed since 7:30 and is still awake. Someone is playing loud music and despite his window being tight closed he is getting upset. He seems to have developed a sensitivity to night noise, ie babies wake him now when they never used to as well. I hope it is "just a phase".
Long post again

.
What a nightmare Ginger - hope your dad is recovering well. I've no experience with lo refusing one side but I've certainly heard of people who've only fed on one side. Perhaps worth giving a bf counsellor a go? Hope you enjoy Devon - I know you don't feel like it but at least it's not too far away and you could just come back if you felt you needed to.
Gill - has Malcolm got any teeth? Maybe that's what's making him grumpy? Is he taking his solids well?
It's really reassuring to read all of your posts about what stages your lo's are at re rolling etc.
Dinners ready - better go!
Ginger - hope your dad gets all better and no more problems. I really struggled with the rhs too and used to have to express from it but strange to start problems now!
Night nanny sounds good Egg - hope she makes a difference. Had a hellish night with DS - he has been v grumpy and woke shouting at 1030, 2, 3.30 and 4 last night.

normally a feed or bringing him into bed sends him off to sleep but not this time. I think it might be his insides - he's been having a bit more solids and now has solid poo which must be a big change for his little system. We've stuck with milk today but still grumpy.
like the carrot pics rozzy! a much more sensible and clean way than puree. Even if i'm feeding hin myself he grabs the spoon then starts a vigorous face rubbing......No way am I ready to embrace the mess of blw...
ew, just reread my post and sounds a bit like I was breastfeeding my sis!! ew ew ew ew ew! LOL! I was definately not!!
Gingermumi - I also had probs with LO refusing to feed from my right boob! I was worried like you - but my sister showed me how to BF from the right boob whilst LO is lying on the bed / sofa with her head propped up on my right thigh so that to her it seems like the left boob IYKWIM. Prob didn't explain that very clearly - but it seemed to do the trick. It must have been a bit of a phase coz she willfeed from both again now - but still won't sometimes if distracted / overhungry / overtired etc.
hiya all - hows tricks? i've felt super tired all day, tried to get an early night but now cant sleep. ho hum.
ginger - v sorry to hear about your dad. the not making a fuss stuff is just awful, i'm glad it all got sorted in time and hopefully he's on the mend now. are there other people around for your mum at the mo? sounds like the hassle of going away would be a big mare, but does seem like you've had a lot on and maybe a break would be good once you were there.
egg - the nighttime description sounds awful. when is the night nanny coming? sounds like a great option. please dont think i'm too bonkers, but i had a dream i came round your house last night

.
on the subject on milestones, my SIL posted a vidoe of my niece crawling at 7months old. that seems v early, is that early? dd managed to do a front to back roll over today and one day last week spent a good couple of hours bum-shuffling backwards on her back. one-off though i reckon, like her mum she is quite content staying in one place most of the time.
thursday, yes people are so nice when you have a baby, arent they? i spend my life chatting to strangers and have a slightly psycho habit of grinning inanely at pregnant women and others with babies. esp with dd in a sling i find. tho' saying that, on bus the other day i couldnt get a seat and some young guy offered me his. he was sitting with his g-friend who reluctantly stood to let me have his window seat. then when i had to get off she v pointedly wouldnt move and just twisted her knees vvvvvvv slowly leaving us to struggle and wobble our safe way up.
princess -- hullloooo. you ok?
move monday and go OFFLINE. will be forced to use DH's classroom til we get net.
ginger, my DS had a major left hand side preference, I remember looking it up on Kellymom, here
www.kellymom.com/bf/concerns/mom/lopsided.html.
I don't think it's a big problem though, apparently you can feed from one side only.
hope your dads getting on OK. The care he had sounds really appalling. Are your parents going to complain, or are they too nice and worried about making a fuss?
The night nanny sounds great Egg, you'll have to give us all her trade secrets!
Rozzy, the carrot picture is really funny, and your boys look gorgeous.
More lack of milestones confessions: DD is nearly 6 months but she can't roll or sit up, doesn't have any teeth and wakes up a couple of times a night. She does have a lovely smile though, and has been making friends with all sorts of random strangers on the tube today! I love having a baby, people are usually so much nicer when they see you're carting a baby around.
We've been down to the beach in East Sussex for the last week, but the weather was rubbish. Foolishly packed suntan cream when I should have packed wellies. Still had a good time though, DS was 3 a couple of weeks ago and he was really excited about going on holiday, he seems old enough to 'get it'. DD is pretty much over her chickenpox now and luckily she wasn't too sick with it.
thequietone- my ds was born 4th Jan (4 weeks early admittedly) and he's only rolled over once, has no teeth and can only sit for a few seconds. He's very happy though and that's what matters hun! I'm sure your lo is doing fine!
Have not had time to read all posts, my dad was rushed into hosp this week. He's been unwell for days but didn't want to bother the docs (FFS he couldn't breath and was in mega amounts of pain). Finally did see doc and was told to rest and take paracetamol. Parents did nothing 'til he was so ill they called an ambulance. Initially they said it was pancreatitis (Sp?) and transfered him to another hosptial who said he has gall stones and a massive infection. They transfered him back to original hosp (parents have private health care and could have gone to local BUPA but again didnt want to make a fuss, they took out private health care 'cos dad has been left diabled by catching MRSA in the very hosptial he's in now). They (the hosp) decided to take out gall bladder but kept putting it off. Finally had op yestreday - gall bladder was gangreenous, worse the surgeon had ever seen! Am furious with parents and hosptial for delays. He's diabetic too and they couldn't give him any insulin for the first day beacuse there wasn't a machine available to give it to him. That hasn't helped him much either.
Am so tired from running around, working and going to hosp and helping out with my nan. We're off to Devon on monday for a few days and TBH going away is the last thing i want to do! dad is still on high dependancy ward, mum says go, but I am torn! He should start to make quite a quick recovery now but looked pretty rough today.
DS is waking at night too which isn't helping! He also is only feeding from one side. Anyone else encountered this? He flatly refuses to feed from RHS. He's not liked it from birth but now just wont feed from the left boobie at all!

Hope i don't lose my supply

Am off to carry on sorting washing
The night nanny sounds like a really good idea egg. Daniel sleeps 9-8 and I am still tired so I have no idea how you cope with 3 waking up at different times in the night.
Love the pics rozzy. Havent tried DS on carrot yet, he had pureed banana yesterday pulled his face whilst he was eating it but kept on going! Generally just give him baby rice in the morning and a bit of fruit in the afternoon. It doesn't happen every day though I'm gonna have to be much more organised when he's over 6 months (he's 23 weeks now) its so easy just bf.
No hope of a holiday here leesmum. We have just enough money to live on until I go back to work. We probably shouldn't have had the extension done yet but I don't think I could go through all that mess with DS crawling and eating real food. Oh well, just have to holiday in the back garden this year!
Omy - are you on hols now?
Egg - doesn't sound like your dd is hungry so hopefully the night nanny will do the trick! Ds3 looks really like ds1 as a baby - ds2 is more like his dad but you can still tell they're brothers. Glad you're feeling happier!
Leesmum - no carrot wasn't a hit - he didn't seem to know what to do with it but he's still young (just 22 weeks) so plenty of time. Glad your ds2 liked the butternut squash and pear. The week away at your sisters sounds fab!
Morning Egg, glad to hear that you're feeling a bit better today x That night nanny sounds great, she will be if she can get the DT's to sleep better. It must be hard when one wakes up and starts bawling and you dread them waking others up! Ds1 gets up at about 6am just when i've finished giving Ds2 his morning bottle and if it wasn't for Ds1 bouncing around everywhere i know Ds2 would go back off for another hour or so but he can hear his big brother and wants a nosey

Rozzy your boys are so handsome

they look great together, actually i had a dream the other night that i had another boy called Paul!! and i couldn't get it out of my head all day..but no we are having NO MORE. Did lo not like the carrot then, i tried james with some butternut squash and pear like you suggested and he loved it.
This time next week we are going down to see my sis and bil in Uxbridge for a week, i'm really looking forward to it as we are'nt going abroad this year, with having to pay for Ds1's nursery fee's and getting the christening sorted we can't afford it this year

Omy how are you and is lo still sleeping through?
Beany are things any better at night for you?
Morning all. Rozzy those pics are fabulous. So cute. The boys are all so handsome and look so alike (my three all look like they are from different families...).
DD does not wake up so many times, but she feeds at 10pm (reluctantly, but if she doesn't she wakes at 11/12ish instead), and then again sometimes at 1am, but sometimes not til 4:30am, and DS2 keeps waking and yelling which wakes either DD or DS1 or both, and the combination of both of them is getting too much, and DD had just plain water last night at 3:30am, and still only had 2oz at 7am, and she just needs a bit of sorting. If she was my only child she would not be a problem at all. I spoke to the lady who will hopefully come and stay for a few nights and she said it sounds easily solveable and that they should be able to sleep for 11-12 hours without a problem (in an ideal world of course!).
TBH it has made me feel happier just knowing that on the 5 or so nights she will stay I don't have to get up at all, unless with DS1, which is rarely before 5:30 when he gets woken by one of the DTs, so I can cope with that (he used to sleep til past 7 and sometimes til 8).
This morning DS2 woke at 5:30, but he woke up DD, who wasn't hungry, but she got fed up lying in her cot while I fed DS2, so she burst into tears, which then woke DS1. So we have been watching Balamory downstairs since 6am. DD refused to go back to sleep until 7:45. She was shattered poor love.
Had a lovely day yesterday despite the rain. We managed to get out to the swings for an hour in the afternoon, and bumped into a local friend and her little boy who is same age as DS1, so they played a lot together which was very sweet, and we have arranged to get together for coffee which is nice (despite making lots of "friends" since we moved here last summer, have not managed to sort out doing coffee or going to people's houses which is nice).
Sorry, long rambling post. Feeling happy today

.
Off to London tomorrow with DTs (first time for them) leaving DS1 with DH, as it is my mum's bday so we are meeting up at my sis's house. We would all go but still don't have new car so can't all fit into ours unless it is only for 5 min journey as it is hellish being squished in back for 2 hours!
Rozzy!! LOL at your LO eating the plate! Your boys are really REALLY gorgeous!
LO has just cried herself to sleep as she got too overtired. I really must implement some kind of a routine as she is too old now to 'go with the flow'. She can wiggle herself around the cot now and looks like she is trying to escape from prison as she is often to be found holding on to the bars with her face pressed up against them!
Hi everyone - can't believe some of the babies are 6 months old already - where has this year gone!!!
Egg - is your dd getting up a lot in the night now? Do you think it's habit rather than hunger?
Leesmum - that's a good long sleep at night ds2 is having

. He's not half packing it in during the day though!! Every 2 hours is quite often for ff isn't it - although it's not that long since you stopped bf so he might still be adjusting?
Beany - being up twice must have seemed like a good night after the previous 2 nights! You must be shattered though. Ds3 is up twice every night so not nearly as bad as what you're dealing with. Last night I woke up with ds2 sprawled out across the middle of my bed (dh on night shift). Managed to hurt a muscle in my neck lifting him back to bed (2.5 stones of dead weight) so will be demanding a massage tonight!
I gave lo some carrot on his highchair today - just out of interest really - didn't think he would eat it. Anyway didn't really go to plan - I've attached a couple of pics to my profile. Also a more recent pic of all 3 boys.
First week of school holidays over for us. I'm actually really enjoying having them here with me all day and not having to rush out to get to nursery, and pick them up again. They've been really good this week which helps - I'm sure if they were being horrors I would be desperate for the Autumn term to start!! Also dh is on holiday for a couple of weeks (although got called in for an overtime shift last night which we couldn't refuse since I'm not working at the mo).
Hope everyone has a lovely weekend - weathers been pretty rotten here over the last couple of days but is meant to clear up over the weekend (fingers crossed).
Bloody hell Beany, six times a night? I thought my life was a bit tricky at the mo, and we are not trying to sell a house as well as coping on no sleep.
Have bitten the bullet and looked into getting a night nanny to sort us out before it gets too late! Seeing a lovely sounding lady on Monday who reckons she can get DD sleeping through within 5 days and doesn't ever leave her to cry or get her into any bad sleep habits. It means that I don't have to get up at night while she is here, and hopefully not after she is gone. Don't want to reach the end of my tether and end up going mad so am trying to sort things sooner rather than later.
Hoping everyone is ok. DTs are very grizzly today, DS1 thankfully is being ok, despite it being wet and horrid so we can't do much, but we have played in the garden and played some cricket so he is happy. And it is the weekend soon thank god.
Alkar hope you are feeling better and asthma is under control. Must be v scary.
Tyaca good luck with the move. You must be excited (and a bit nervous). Best to move now while DD can't run riot, we moved last summer when DS1 was 18 months old and he made it a lot harder, esp as it was pouring with rain so couldn't even take him out to swings to get him out of the way.
Hi Beany gosh you must be knackered! Is DS2 showing any signs of teeth yet, we had broken sleep for about 2 weeks before james got his first one, but don't be worried ladies some just pop right through and don't give them too much bother. Beany are you still exl BF? have you given lo any food yet?
James is 25 weeks tomorrow and for the last 2 days he's had a bit of pureed pear and some sweet potato and carrot, he didn't go mad for it but didn't spit it out either, i'm hoping that as the next few weeks go on the gaps between bottles will spread out a bit, at the moment he's only going just over 2hrs inbetween feeds

you can't have everything though he has last bottle at 7pm and then wakes up about 5.30am, unless his teeth are bothering him and then i'm up and down all night

Tyaca how's it going in your new gaff? did you say it was out in the countryside? That will be lovely for Esther this time next year when she's running around all over the place

We have no plans to move EVER! we were lucky to have bought our house 10 years ago before all the prices went silly. We could not afford to buy it now and as it's a 3 bed semi, there is plenty of room for the 4 of us, it's on a cul-de-sac so it's really quiet.
Gill i'm really impressed with Malcolm sitting up, James is no where near sitting up because he is too interested in his feet! he can't even fit in his bumble anymore because his thighs are too big, he's just like Roberto Carlos who used to play for Brazil!!!
Princess how did it go yesterday?
Egg did you do anything for the twins 6 month birthday yesterday?
Count can i ask you a personal question? I was like you and finished feeding lo at about the same time as you did, now i'm still leaking a tiny bit and my boobs now resemble two undercooked Naan breads

they're just swinging around all over the place, are you suffering as well or is it just me? Maybe its my age

They might improve when i shift my last bit of weight

we'll see....
Gill - our flat is on the market and I am have been browsing but there is not much point in really looking until we have an offer and that could take a while yet. I'm playing the long game on this one and am going to give it until Christmas and then see where we are. PITA having to keep everything tidy all the time though!
Am impressed with M's bum shuffling. Ds2 nearly rolled over yesterday but that's about it!!
Princess - how are you?

After being woken up 6 times a night for two nights, I was up twice last night. Am blardy shattered.
How is everyone else?
hello - good luck with the move Tyaca - rather you than me but exciting nonetheless. What stage are you at with moving Bean? Just looking or are you more progressed than that? That's one thing we definitely won't be doing for a while. It's not common knowledge but the credit crunch / slowdown / possible recession is actually mine and DP's fault- sorry. After however many years of ridiculous house price rises we bought our first place at the end of last year - there will now follow a massive recession and housing crisis and we will be stuck here for the rest of our lives.
LO is doing great although becoming increasingly, well, mental. If I take my attention off him for a minute he'll sit and shout repeatedly while banging the floor with his hands, he gets so excited by the sight of bottled water that his face goes all rigid and he almost manages to bum shuffle towards it hooting dementedly and he's also become obsessed with eating me - even if I'm not holding him he'll lean over and try to latch on to face, neck, shoulder, wrist. Have been feeding and watering him like crazy thinking that he's hungry or thirsty but it makes no difference - think it must be a security thing

. He's also got into a wierd habit of sleeping through till a 4am feed and then having another at 5am. Strange. Is not too bad cause I get a long sleep in before then - hope those still struggling get better sleeps soon!
Hope all well with DS1 Bean.
Princess - how was counselling session?
hello all, just scanning and popping in to say hi. been away at MILs while DH painted all the woodwork. flat's starting to look great - cant believe we never sorted it out for ourselves! picking up keys to new place this afternoon but not planning to moce til weekend. bean - did not know you were moving too and sry to hear about your ds1. hopefully just a consciencetious (or indeed lusty

) doc.
Had to go to the doctors this morning after another night of breathlessness I'm finally starting to admit I have asthma. First happened in the middle of my pregnancy then I ended up in a&e a couple of weeks ago as I couldn't get up the stairs without wheezing and now it has happened again. Its just weird that I have been fit and healthy my whole life and now at 32 I develop asthma

On the plus side though a neighbour has just knocked on my door with a load of strawberries out of his garden for us - I love living here!!
Off to see my friends newborn baby later, he's a week old now. Hope Daniel behaves himself he tried to eat the last baby we went to see
Morning all! Much nicer day than yesterday. Hope you are all enjoying your babes.
Every 3 hours! My heart goes out to you and Rozzy! Though last night LO did wake twice as I think she thought she'd better get in some eating at night as mummy keeps abandoning her during the day! Just bought some nice holle organic formula online and am determined LO will be drinking it long before work begins again in september!
Hi all, thought I would pop on and say hi to you all and chip in on the baby development conversation. My LO isn't sitting or rolling or have any teeth yet, but she can sit up if you support her lower back. (She was born 23rd Feb).
She is sleeping a lot less in the day than she used to, and I am starting to wonder what on earth I can do to keep her entertained all day! especially on days like today with it pi**ing down with rain and we can't even walk into town - coz I can window shop for Britain and she loves sitting up in the push chair looking around at everything!
She still wakes every 3 hours through the night for food and other times when she loses her dummy or has kicks her covers off etc.
Oh Beany - what a bugger - what makes him still concerned? I guess it is good he is keeping an eye on things though.
LO can't roll over yet and no teeth here either! Lots of dribbling though and she likes to stand (supported) all the time. She likes to sit supported too! I will get one of those funny pod seats soon.
Have been to the docs and he is still a bit concerned about ds1 (either that, or he fancies me - joke!!!!!

). Have to go back
again in 3 weeks. Sigh.
ds3 is 5 months on Friday and also is not rolling/sitting and doesn't have any teeth. I must admit I like this stage when you can put them down and know they can't go anywhere - I'm dreading having to keep all the lego/small toys out of his reach. I do like it when they can sit though as they can keep themselves amused easier. I'm sure my other 2 were around 7 months when I could plonk them sitting on the floor and be confident they wouldn't wobble over.
Hope you get more sleep soon Beany. Ds3 is not waking any more frequently but somehow I am finding it harder and harder to deal with. Can hardly drag myself out of bed some mornings which isn't like me. I think part of the problem is I tend to go to bed early (especially since ds1 and ds2 get up around 6/6.30) but as ds3 gets up for his last feed around 10/10.30 I have to stay up for that which is later than I would ordinarily. Then up around 1 and 4 - needless to say I'm not the cheeriest of mums when the older 2 want to come in and 'cuddle in' in the mornings!
Your poor ds2 leesmum to have lots of teeth all coming in at the same time. On the positive side I suppose it gets it out of the way at once.
Better go - ds3 is getting a bit cross with his gym now.
thequiet one- your ds will do all the developmental things when he is good and ready- (my DD was born 7th feb so a fair few weeks between them) - babies are all different, so please don't get down about it!!!!!!
Been to see a friend this am, we ahd a good old chin wag- she is feeling fed up (her DC's are 13yrs, 4yrs 2yrs and 11mths-ALL GIRLS) cannot afford to go back to work but really wants to go back her DH is not really much help etc so she had a good moan and looked much brighter when i left!!!!!
Makes me think maybee two are enough!!!!!!
Hope everyone is ok!!!
Ds2 was born 23rd January!!

There's still lots of time....
I've been sitting here getting rather down that DS2 hasn't done any of the developmental stuff the rest of your children have. Not rolling over yet, not sitting up unaided, no teeth. Beansprout, good to see you're in the same boat. Maybe everyone's babies are a few weeks older than mine. Mine was born 25th Feb. I'm just waiting for him to do something major!
Congratulations Alkar!!

Love the first dip in the sea photo gill!
Glad HV came up with some good suggestions sally, I'm only back at work in November but already dreading it and I used to like my job.
Egg DS has been standing from about 3 months too, I remember taking him to the cinema and he stood on my lap for the whole film. He will roll onto his side and stay there unless he wants food and I am lying next to him then he can roll right over for it. Men and their food!
Where do all the rescued animals come from ginger?
Glad the nursery got sorted sarah, bet you are really glad now.
Princess - good thinking making DH read the posts! Glad you have been offered counselling, you have been through so much, hope it helps.
I too have become a bit of a worrier, I remember going in for my c-section thinking my life insurance only starts tomorrow

Sorry you only got 4 hours sleep bean, hope you haven't got anything too tiring on today and the boys don't keep you too busy!
DD is rolling all over the place now, she has two bottom teeth playing her up- though they are not through yet, She is very good-
She settles herself to sleep for her naps and bed time in her cot- if we are out and about she is harder to get to sleep as she is so nosey!!!!!
She has a dummy which i didn't want her to have and i am really thinking i should take it from her as i hate it!!! Ds had one, but from the age of 1 he left in in his cot, and happily handed it to santa when we visited before his 2nd bday- so it should not be a problem for Rosie either- but i really hate the horrid thing(i ws determind she would not have one)

Where has the time gone- she is 5.5 months old!!!! Its gone far too fast- i am broody already- (although we have said no more)i really would love one more, and if we had another bedroom
wei would not think twice but i hated sharing a room with my lil sister when i was growing up, it would not be fair-
Whats more i have a boy and a girl who are happy, and healthy so what more could we need!!!!!!!!
Hope everyone is ok- and not too wet with all this horrid rain!!!!!!!
I still haven't caught up with everything yet, but I don't have much to add. Ds2 is not sitting up, rolling over, has no sign of any teeth and is waking up loads in the night. Arghh! I was up 6 times last night although it is usually twice.
Have not done the test, I think that more sleep would go a long way with me at the moment. We are also trying to move house (arf!) and I am trying (unsuccessfully) to sort out childcare for when I go back to work and anxiety about those things is very normal.
Pouring with rain, both boys at home, have had about 4 hours sleep. This is not a recipe for success!!
Hi there, i've hardly had chance to get on here AGAIN

DS2 now has his two bottom teeth and a top one is just about to poke through!! Thankfully he hasn't been too bad at night but the days have been a bit rough. He's become very clingy which is understandable. Tyaca he has settled into his room fine and bedtime is the only time he gets himself off to sleep, we just put him down and walk out of the room and he's gone within 5min

I havent done "the test" because to be honest i know some days are better than others and i dont want to do it and then put ideas into my head if its high

but i'm sorry if some of you are struggling i'm guessing a man invented these sorts of "tests" because lets be honest they know f*@k all about everything!!!
Princess i hope it goes ok with the counsellor tomorrow, i'll be thinking of you. I't best that you go now while everything is still fresh and you dont leave things till you get in a really bad way xxx
Hi to everyone else, Egg i can't believe your two are nearly 6 months!! just think what they'll all be up to in another 6 months time

Bye for now x
Hi to everyone, and thanks for your kind words.
Well went to HV and did the test again with her and had a lovely long chat. She says I do not have PND, I'm just having a normal reaction to a worrying situation - she commented that DHs long hours were "a recipe for disaster for us all"

Have now had a chat to him re long hours and he is going to try to be a bit more sensible

She suggested to help me prepare myself mentally to get ready for work that I practise getting up at regular times and doing housework/chores in the morning and fun stuff in the afternoon

so I am gonna try that, it sounds manageable and should stop my life being entirely ruled by the caprices of a PFB!
Have decided that HV is blardy fantastic as long as I don't expect her to advise on bf!!!!!
count - men are like having another child sometimes!
Ginger - your menagerie sounds like a lot to deal with! I get grumpy just having to feed our cat!! Great news that hospital are happy with DS
Sarah - great that you are happy with the nursery place for your DS!
Princess - that 'too much coffee' feeling sounds like pre panic attack - great that you and DH are back on the same team - and great that you are going to see a counsellor. You really have had a rough time this year! Be very gentle with yourself!
Gill - my LO cries when she hasn't had a burp! So If she falls asleep at the boob you can be sure she will wake in 20 mins or so for a burp! I don't stress about picking her up from the cot if she cries, just cuddle her for a few mins then put her back in cot. Sometimes we do this 3 times before she goes to sleep.
Darling LO has slept through the night twice more! Reluctantly I had to wake her this morning at 5am for a feed, then 7am for another feed as I had to leave for work at 7.30 and I knew she had to last till 1pm when DH brought her up for lunch! When I got home at 5pm she was VERY hungry - she had BOTH boobs (normally has one per feed) and grunted crossly while feeding! Only 2 more days of work before the holidays!!! yay!
That should read 'crazy' lady! der....
Aww Gill thanks, it's strange but i don't feel that bad, i think it's just highs and lows really. I think the point about answering it for last 7 days only is right, if i had done i think it would have given lower score.
DH fixed lock but got wrong keys cut so am off now (with the broken key) to get some more done!
Ds fine at hosp today, they don't want to see him for 6 months. It was a bit of a rush going from meeting to hosp and back to meeting again but glad all ok.
Princess, not surprised you're feeling wierd, its got to be some sort of post traunmtaic stress thing, get all the support you can.
Am amazed at number of people who have same/similar irrational worries! Must be a mum-thing, it's good to know i'm not a cazy-lady! (well, perhaps only a bit !)

Have to go and get littleman from nursey then of to get get keys, hope it's not raining again, no coat!
rozzy i have a v clear memory of being four and my dad having to sell his motorbike to my uncle
Princess - the counsellor sounds like a really good idea. I think what tyaca said is right - you get through things at the time because you have to but they hit you harder afterwards. I'm glad you've been able to talk to your dh about how you've been feeling.
Gill - ds3 has managed to settle himself to sleep since he started sucking his thumb. Great at the moment but I know from experience I'll pay for it when he's older and we try to get him to stop!!
I know what you mean about worrying! My dh has just sold his motorbike and I was so relieved - not just for him but I worry that if the boys see their dad with a motorbike they'll want one when they're older.
Good luck with the packing tyaca!
Dh just home for work so I better go and say hi!
Egg and
Sally- and
Ginger - am shocked you are feeling so bad. Although I would be sceptical about the value of a questionnaire to assess your mental state you must be feeling pretty bad to score so highly. I scored 4 and feel realy guilty now!
Sally try not to let the thought of going back to work ruin the rest of your time off. It will be hard but in different ways and you may find getting out in the daytimes helps. Have you looked into child tax credits? (I've been putting off filling in the form for ages) Just wondered if there's any way you can manage to reduce your working days so as to do less than full time.
Does anyone else's LO send themselves off to sleep by themselves? If LO doesn't stay asleep between last feed and being put into cot there follows a scream-a-thon when we leave him in his cot- a battle of wills which we always lose due to his skills in emotional manipulation.
Tyaca - do feel like I have had something amputated when I brush my hair!
Not looking forward to the first period returning after your tales. I'd heard they weren't as painful after you've had a baby... If you reduce b/f slowly (say with LO between 6 and 12 months) when do they reappear?
Count -

at DP's behaviour. That's really out of order.
LO is now a very stable sitter and has been riding a little rocking horse

. He can only roll onto his left side though and keeps waking up stuck staring at the wall and crying. He's only rolled all the way over once (apart from the 2 week old freak event) and that was cause MIL left him screaming til he was so mad. Glad to hear DD is getting some hair Egg!
I am wierd about car crashes too - don't like going in the car with just me and LO and it's always at the back of my mind when we plan trips. Have always been a bit of a worrier though and I thought I'd worry more than I do - will probably get worse though; not looking forward to the time when LO and all his friends get their driving licences... I try not to think about these worries too much though as it's the sort of thing that could end up paralysing your life.
Princess is your DH's bike a push bike or motorbike? DP cycles from Finsbury Park to Paddington most days and I absolutely hate it - it just seems so dangerous. But he loves it!
Glad you're going to see a counsellor
Princess - you sound like you might have a panic attack at the moment tbh. Look after yourself and take it easy as much as you're able to. Glad you've been able to talk to DH.

at DD sticking her tongue out
Tyaca. DS has discovered his tongue too and chews it, sticks it out and blows raspberries all the time. He is a bit of a mummy's boy at the moment and tries to eat me whenever he gets in lunging distance. I have a lovely set of lovebites on my shoulder which is vey cute but a litte

.
Hope you can make it to visit Egg
Ginger! Should be fun.
Good night.
my HV made me do the test with her a couple of weeks ago. but then she's got me pegged as a bonefida mental

- scored low and ok. i do love a test though... and a score...
count am v impressed at your chicken and veg stock. i'm reguarly stuck in nigel slater-esque fantasies involving fresh soups made with ingredients just picked from the garden. i am just learning to make curries at the moment and tonight struck gold with a fab ginger chicken thing. sorry about testing times with dh - its strange isnt it how sometimes its harder at w/ends when there are two of you and it should be easier

.
ginger - agh to rain and busted lock. did you arrive at work a bit soggy? v wise thoughts re making most of time off work rather than worrying about going back. i have just got a message from my old boss and am v glad i missed the call <denial denial denial>>
egg - omg yes ever since getting pg i have never been too far away from dh-is-going-to-be-in-a-car-crash worries. get myself in real state, and start muttering "must get life insurance, must get life insurance" when dh walks thru door

hiya sarah glad you've got the new nusery place sorted - and sorry your ds missed his last week at the present place.
princess - haha! you made your dh read our posts

. the jury of Feb Thread MN'ers. did he read your posts too? i hope so. ughhhh for those bods at dr's saying how worried your gp was. not sure how helpful that is, tho' know they will just be being nice. sounds like you need a few full stops. i guess we're all programmed to get thru the toughest of times as they happen and then afterwards it all comes up to get you. dont know what those full stops could be...? me i'd choose between shiatsu, excessive MN'ing, or excessive MN'ing boozing. Reckon Health Care Bods probably wouldnt recommend the last one
busy bees here packing and cleaning still. move on mon. v excited. dd caught outside in first proper storm today. in sling, but well wrapped under brolly and tucked into dh's coat round me. i couldnt see her, but dh reckoned she seemed perfectly happy and just kept sticking her tongue out.
sally, i'm not even going to attempt that test today. mind you, week before last would have been no problem. it's horrible when you feel down and still have to cope with babies with a reassuring smile on your face. dh and i spent wednesday thursday and friday having severe arguments every evening and then smiling merrilly at the kids in the day.
bummer about the lock ginger. sounds like combining work and home is hard enough without the chinchilla and the locked front door. i am always having horrid thoughts about dying or dh dying (esp. on his bike, esp. when it's raining like now...). i think it's a natural part of being a mum.
egg i finally managed to find the tv clip. love the twins they're so sweet. ds2 looked angelic with those big soft eyes and dd was a cutie. you looked fab, v with it impressively-although something wrong with the sound so it came after you'd finished speaking which was weird.
tyaca hope the moving process isn't too painful.
i am feeling completely weird. depressed and tired but also as if i've had too much coffee. v panicky all the time and difficult to breathe when i get remotely stressed. relieved am not feeling angry with dh anymore though. i read him all your posts and i think it helped make him understand how much he'd been in denial about how ill ds was, that and the huge huge bollicking i gave him. he also agreed his mum was way out of line which always helps

. every day i relive the horror of last week in my mind. had to go to gp with ds for meds today and all the nurses and receptionists were crowding round telling me how frightened the dr had been. was horrible. didn't help that have had big stress with ds's reflux medication today. dh and me are going to see a really nice counsellor on thursday to talk it through. hope it helps.
Hi all- been to get DD weighed and measured, she is 16LB exactly, and 63cm in length and perfectly on the line!!!! woohoo!!!
She is 21 weeks and 4 days now, and doing well!!!
Preschool have confirmed that DS has a place in september which is a huge relief- the only draw back is its only 2.5hours per day (mon to fri) his crap nursery had him mon, wed , thurs for 5 hours!!!! all will be good my routine will just change slightly,
DH and i are pleased whre he is going though the facilities are fab!!!
I have bad cold but other than that all well in our neck of the woods,
So wish i could come to meet up!!!(sad)
Hi everyone! (especially beany - we were worried about you!)
I lost another lb this week so am getting there

.
I haven't made any commitment to when I'm going back to work yet. I should really just get my arse into gear and give them a date but legally I only have to give 3 months notice if I'm not taking the full year off. I'm kind of waiting to see how the money lasts though!
I did the Edinburgh test and got 5 so ok here. I did have quite a few low days after ds3 was born but only on reading all your posts over the last couple of days did I realise I haven't had any low days for a while now. I think it's important only to take the last 7 days into consideration when doing the test. No harm in seeing the gp though if you're worried. Hvs should really be keeping an eye on new mums anyway (although my hv hasn't been to see me since lo was 6 weeks). fwiw egg I would probably cry every day if I had 2 babies AND a 2 year old!
Ginger - lol at the number of posts you've made. Here's me thinking we would have less time to post when we went back to work

Ooops forgot you were working!
Am going to have to do some work now, i'm Surprised no one has come looking for me! Will be leaving early so must at least look like i've tidied my desk or something!!
Thanks for link, have posted.
We are borrowing my parents estate car and i keep thinking we will crash 'cos it's automatic and dh hasnt driven an automatic for years and he surfs and i think he will drown, especially as it will be the first time since his big op last year. It really scares me. I also keep thinking i'm going to get some dreadful illness and never see ds grow up! Perhaps i am depressed. I never tell anyone this stuff, perhaps i should!
Forgot to say, when we went on hols and hired a car, I was convinced DH was going to crash and everyone but me would die. Or DH would die and leave me with three DCs

. But i think it was because it was a big car, and I was worried about him not being used to driving it. He was a master at it of course.
Will do link now.
Door thing is a pain, true, dh says he might be able to sort it but am going to leave early anyway and see what i can do. Will need to get a new key cut so will try to do this, i don't think lock is broken! (hope not anyway)
ooo cross post!! Yes sounds like me, am very happy and love ds to bits. Having another baby has been brilliant but I also get times when i feel very flat and basically quite sad. I do worry about things more than i should, sometimes i think because i'm so lucky to have ds that something bad will happen and that makes me panic, i guess that is why i scored highly on the test.
Thats cool, would love to come to meet. Didn't see link, Winchester's fine for me and either day is cool too. Can you put link in so i can keep tabs on whats happening, am totally inept with technology so i don't know how to find the link apart from trawling bak though all the messages!
Ginger so you must be feeling a bit like me then if I got 16... I really don't feel that bad, just have some very low points, but most are middle kind of points, and some high points!
Bugger about the door too... Not what you need. Are neither DDs around to stay in for a locksmith while you are at work?
OMG, did the test and got 17, did it again and got 15! Do feel a bit low sometimes but not bad enough for medication! Not sure what to do now! Think i'll just be aware, keep talking to you guys and see doc if it gets worse!
Oooh ginger, just the lady. We are trying to plan a Hampshire meet (some of these lovely girls are coming to ME as I will struggle to get anywhere). Gill did a link to the meet up thread a week or two ago, and wondered if you are around as it is not too far hopefully for you and you will (I think) be off work for summer hols? Looks like the date might be 7 Aug (or poss 31 July). Both are Thursdays.
Funny DD rolled once too. But never again. And she can somehow turn over whilst strapped into her bouncy chair.
Good luck for DS's checkup. Hope it goes well and he has just grown out of his fits. DS2 doesn't do his juddering any more, although he sometimes starts a strange type shaking when he goes into a deep milk coma, esp if he has had to cry a bit whilst waiting!
Must must must do hoovering.
Aww egg love the 'baby owl'! ds loves standing too, makes my arms ache! lol
Hey ladies,
Am at work but have found an empty room so i can read emails and order bday pressies for BIL online! Feel v naughty but CBA with work today. Whole day started crap, was late 'cos dd2 broke front door key in lock and so we had to go out back door (not a big problem i hear you say except that it's p
*ing down and i had to carry ds and all his 'stuff' to front and my back door key would lock from outside). sorted out in the end but i was a bit grumpy and so was ds! Will have to leave work early (how sad) to try to fix lock/key problem.
Thursady - yes chinchillas are cute and lovely but we already have...three cats, two rabbits, two guinea pigs, three gerbils, a hamster and some fish so i didn't really want any thing else!! I have already had to rehome a fourth cat she rescued (it didn't get on with the other three) and a dog she found and brought home on the bus!
My weight went back up

but has dropped back to 12st 10lb so no real advance there, no time to exercise and or walk anywhere at the moment. We're off to Devon ne
