I third! I hated my DP SIL for weeks (even though I knew she would have hers before me, 6 weeks in total) and I would pretty much cry everytime there was a birth announcement on here, even though I wasnt even due!
And I can guarantee that I will still be sitting in hospital on Friday without a LO! Little bugger does not want to come out, feel like such a failure for not being able to did it au naturale, but I now just keep concentrating on the fact that it will be here soon.
However, if one one person says to me 'it will come when its ready' I will fish slap them!

Should i copy and apste my post that filled the last thread.... nah cant be arsed LOL!
Carey she could be there really quickly ytou know, after all that waiting for BAs the birth was TOO bloody quick for my liking! Actually, I personally think thats part of the reason for his crying / growth problem- he seemed so shocked for ages! Just coming out of that now, and he's a month tomorrow
I'm not sure what to put Bas in tbh peachy, we were given a snowsuit for Alex but it hasn't been cold enough for him to wear it and he was wearing a fleecy cardigan but I think even that will be too much today, I'm thinking a vest a t-shirt and a long-sleeved top, with a blanket just incase it gets chillier.

I think I'm a bit sicker than you all - I feel no hatred /resentment towards everyone else having the LOs - in fact I am glad they have. Just a bit concerned that I am starting to blame LO - who I have always been ambivalent about, to be honest. Really hoping that doesn't turn into something worse...
Oh sagitta, Alex was devils spawn and my body was useless when I was waiting, I even said to dp when i was in the bath that maybe if i partly drowned myself and he got me out it would kickstart 'the stupid lazy little shit' to coming out Also wasn't the most excited about the impending arrival and am now hopelessly in love, I even cried the other night because i didnt want his mouth to hurt from the thrush[hm]
Really? VS, that makes me feel much better. I KNOW its only hormones, but that doesn't seem to help make me feel less crazy...so glad you felt the same and are now in love!
Carey- waiting is awful and nothing anyone else says makes it any better. I felt really down towards the end cos I kept thinking 'my body is a failure, why can't I just go into labour'. 3 pregnancies- 1st came naturally then stopped and had to be restarted with a drip, 2nd two were induced. All I can say is, at least my body seems to get them out quite quickly once I'm in labour!
Peachy, my dd1 came out very quickly- about 30 minutes- it all happened so fast and I tore and she was extremely upset. She screamed for about 4-5 hours after being born and wouldn't latch on. She was a struggle to BF and cried a lot. I'm sure the birth had a massive effect on her. Whereas the other two are both pretty chilled out, well Robyn is so far!
It's gorgeous weather here atm, really warm and sunny. Both dd's are sleeping and dh has taken Toby out so I'm enjoying some peace and quiet while I have some lunch.
Oh yes, has anyone else had REALLY painful contractions since having their LO? I had some last night after BF. I had the same after Chloe was born and apparantly it's pretty normal, especially with 2nd+ child, just the uterus contracting. However, it is SO painful, I was actually crying in pain- I didn'teven do that when I was in labour!!
Yes soph! The afterpains! Argh and they are worse with ecah child apparently, and worse during a feed, i had to stop feeding at one point in hospital and hand Alex to MiL cos they hurt so much!
big hugs to all the others waiting - nothing happening here - am off to hospital now to see consultants - typical that I have to spend first sunny day in ages sat in antenatal clinic
DH has gone downhill last few days so isn't coming with me for appointment and I don't know if he'll be well enough to come to the birth at all - so maybe doing it all on my own (not that men do much anyway - last time he complained he was bored halfway through the labour )
The last couple of days I've just had DD in short-sleeved bodysuit/vest and dungarees (plus the Close Baby Carrier, which adds a couple of layers) and a hat. Before that we had a babygro on top of the vest instead of the dungarees, but she was getting too hot. It's scary how much ilder she looks now she's in an "outfit" like the dungarees rather than just a babygro.
Hugs to moomin -- do you have anyone else who could go with you?
hi all I have no idea how you all keep up! there doesnt seem enough time in the day.
I seem to have gone from both lists so have added myself back on and updated you annieroo

moomins- any chance you could get a doula? you'd prbably qualify for their hardship fund to help?
just bought ds some rompers, really frustrating still buying newborn! got advice from tiktok and she suggested dairy- which rings right and will vcut it out but dh a bir [sad[ as with the others dairy intol has = asd.
Just popping in to say hello, glad the thrush is being sorted VS and scorpio hope problems all resolve soon.
((((hugs)))) to Peachy with Bas's weight gain, I'm sure using those springy scale things cant be v helpful in monitoring acurately. Going out if at the moment is warmer than in our house were in a vest and short romper suit with a thin blanket in case the wind picks up. If out in the sling just adding a cardigan.
Arghhh, I just sat on the bus desperately wanting to shout at two first time mums
They both had babies, one 5 months, one six months and were discussing how their babies had been 'hungry' at about 3 months, so they had started weaning <VS sits on the FACTS rather than spouts them> and then started going on about how they had to give their babies hungrier baby milk cos they weren't sleeping through.
ARGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH SLEEPING THROUGH IS NICE, BUT NOT A FLIPPING AIM, IT HAPPENS WHEN THEIR TUMMY GETS BIG ENOUGH FFS!
hi folks, feel like I've been away forever! Got back from hospital yesterday but couldn't post as loads of visitors! The hospital I attend has gotten really strict about visitors so people said they'd wait till I got home, but I didn't think they meant the day I got home! Thank God Mum is here! MIL showed up then and ended up staying for tea and telling lovely storied about babies who were co-sleeping and got rolled on by their parents, just what we needed to hear! Anyhow, Harry is gorgeous, I was a bit worried that I would have difficulty bonding with him as I had been hoping after 3 boys that I would have a little girl but I needn't have worried, I felt a rush of love for him immediately he was born! He has a mop of dark hair, I mean LOADS of hair, is feeding really well and his big brothers adore him, even ds3 who wants to hold him and kiss him all the time! I had been worried because when the boys came to the hospital, ds3 was a bit "off" and wouldn't give me a hug but adjusted after a few minutes. He does have to be watched all the time as he seems to think ds4 is his property to be picked up at will. Will try to post a pic later on my profile but am not very good with techy stuff so may need dh's help!
I had an interesting time at the hospital - think I saw everyone on duty at the antenatal clinic....
- saw MW and Dr (SHO I think) - Dr attempts sweep - fails Dr says "we'll book you in for induction in the morning" Me: "er, no, actually I don't want to be induced yet" Dr (in shocked voice): but you are overdue Me: not until Friday I'm not Dr: oh well come back monday then Me: what about scans and monitoring? Dr: what? Oh you don't need them Me: well the NICE guidelines state that.....blah blah blah Dr looks out of her depth and goes off and gets registrar and another MW
Registrar: OK come in monday for induction but we'll do CTG today and thursday
Baby and I conspire to produce perfect CTG trace
Trace looked at by 4th MW. Consultant is on unit by this time and hears rumours of uncooperative patient comes and talks to me. Is really uncomfortable about me going overdue at all - Monday is out, Friday is out but I managed to negotiate going in on Thursday afternoon (which is only +13 FFS!!)
Ideally I would have liked to wait til friday or monday but only if I had a supportive MW or Dr - frankly I thought they were all so terrified by the prospect of me going over - it was quite amusing to watch really! Anyway 4th MW seemed a bit more helpful and offered to try another sweep - think she had bruised knuckles by the end of it but bless her she actually managed it!
Have been feeling all crampy ever since and had a show (woo-hoo!!) and constantly feel like I need a wee and a poo - hopefully this is a good sign!
sorry such a long-winded post but I did spend 2 hours at the hospital being seen by all these people..
Thanks for the feedback on bf. My Lo had a good feeding day today which is a good thing as I had to bf in a café, would not have been easy if she got all fussy... Anyway, in general she seems to guzzle at the beginning and then slow down but it's working well in any case because we went to the baby clinic and she put on another 265g in the past week I also find it difficult to decide on what to dress LO in depending on the weather. It's difficult to know if she is too hot or cold. Does anyone else worry about their LO all the time? - check if they're breathing etc and read up on illnesses in babies just in case so they can be prepared in case of anything? It is so hard not to worry but am trying to not let it consume me...
no suze, Holles St. The Rotunda have been strict about visitors for years but Holles St have totally clamped down this year. It's nice in one way as you get more uninterrupted quality time with baby but I find the 5 days after a CS a bit boring if the visitors are too restricted.
some crampy pains in the night and the occasional full-on contraction but not regular or progressing at the mo. will take DS to park for a picnic i think - fortunately park 5 mins from the house
Hi - I hope the crampy signs are good, moomins. That's how I felt after my sweep, but hopefully yours will work better! I am meant to have another this afternoon, but to be honest, I would prefer now just to wait for my induction - at least then I'll know when it will be, and can organise childcare etc.
God luck, Carey!
What gorgeous photos, PAL and Suze.
Feeling much better today. We decided to buy DD a bike for the summer - and I've just chosen one that is pink enough for her requirements and cheap enough for DH's requirements. Very exciting. She's been a bit odd recently (slapped me repeatedly round the face yesterday ) so hopefully it will make up for all the baby stuff going on. Bribery is the way forward...
Good luck to those still waiting <sends labour vibes> and congrats to the new arrivals . Hope everyone ok.
Beautiful photos of the LO's on the profiles - so lovely to see (makes me BEAM).
We are cool here in Chez TMP .. just doing the day to day routines and enjoying the weather - Livvi is doing really well and keeping me on my toes (as is DD1), Love it .
<<thread judders into weak revival>> Well, I think its just moomins and me now with time on our hands to MN...and frankly, my life in extended pregnancy has become so boring that I have F.A. to say!
really sorry to let you down (and potentially leave you alone) but I have the TENS machine on now as getting v painful contractions -although irregular at the mo. have also had another show and think bit of plug? so my mum is packing her bags and on her way up (she was coming up tomorrow anyway)
just beginnning to remember how painful the whole labour thing is.....
anyway i'll be around for a few hours yet as hoping to get DS to bed at 6.30pm before we ever make a move to the hospital.
Oooh, congratulations Moomins!!! I'm really excited for you! Keep in touch if you can...Most exciting thing that's happened all day! How's DH - is he well enough to come with you?
Do I win a prize for the latest April baby? Or are Woollymummy and Mum2be still waiting as well?
by the way, VS - saw that you are going to become a doula - I think that's a really good idea, you'd be great at it...
peachy - do you mean that you were dilating but not with regular contractions? using that contraction master they seem to be every 9 minutes
have just had another show/more mucus stuff so think will give labour ward a call and check at what point they want me in - I want to stay here for as long as poss - especially as it's so sunny and hospital are horrid places full of infection IMO
DH is ok today (although we have fallen out with each other about 4 times) but legs are not good so will have to take his wheelchair with us into the hospital
ho everyone sorry not been on for a while, never seem t have any time! was just about to post questio about what to dress ds2 in when i saw it's been done! also, how do those of you with more than one dc find time for all that bfeedig???? I feel so bad but just couldnt do it, felt like i was missing out on ds1's life. ds2 wants to stay on the boob for hours and still never seems satisfied. Am doing mixed feeding now, which was ok until the projectile vomiting began.....

Best of luck moomins - hope you have a short and easy one.
Right. Off to tell MW (who I phoned in tears yesterday telling her to get the baby out of me!) to keep her fingers out of my fanjo as its now not convenient for me to give birth until the WE. Oh, the twists and turns of pregnancy hormones....
sagitta - i know how you feel - I spent the bank hol w/e hoping LO wouldn't come as DS was ill
2nd pregnancies and labours have a slightly different twist to them don't they? the relaxing bath is less relaxing when you have to clear out action man and all his scuba diving equipment first. and just had DS ask me to turn his transformer from a robot back into a motorbike mid-contraction
Just quickly checking in to say that I finally had a boy, Wilf, yesterday morning (6th) in the wee small hours. A sister for Katty. 8lbs 6 / 3.88 kilos. Madly in love - thank the lord for those hormones coz when he first appeared I just wasn't interested - gave him to DH to hold and frankly didn't want him anywhere near me til I'd had a cup of tea and a shower. Felt so bad not to be smiling like a Cheshire cat but it was 1am, I was knackered and sore from no pain relief (yes, I boast) and slightly concerned that I'd just pooed on the sitting room floor (turns out I hadn't, luckily, as was in full view of my DH and Mother if I had).
Moomin, that sucks about your DH, bad luck. I know they're useless but you still want them there, somehow. Got to run but best of luck to those being induced and Sagitta I was two weeks late and had sporadic contractions throughout that time, it was maddening and weirdly soul destroying / confidence bashing. You feel like you are carrying others' expectations along with you when you are about to give birth - and I hate the idea of referring to a bit of anatomy as 'lazy' - so incriminating! VS - I also nearly cried when I managed to cut a bit of skin off Wilf's thumb this morning whilst trying to cut his nail - he barely noticed a thing! Hope you're feeling okay, bad luck on the double-whammy thrush mastitis combo, jeez. The 'hungry' baby myth really annoys me too. But my daughter is in age 3 clothes almost and is a whopper - I breastfed her to six months but it almost killed me...don't know what the solution is to a healthy milk supply but this time around I'm taking no chances and even resisting booze as it's a supressant. Got to run and feed the beast who is honking like a donkey.
Oooohh good luck moomins, hope Dh well enough to get there for the birth.
Sagitta dont worry we will still be here with you, of course when the sun goes in and we come out of the garden Dont seem to have done v much in the way of housework over the last couple of days just enjoying the weather and getting back out to toddler groups and coffee mornings - I love being on mat leave and not getting into work for 8am.
Someone asked about BF, thankfully Ive pretty much managed to time feeds around DS's nap times and in the night garden time so keeps hime occupied for a while. Occasionally he has a hissy fit but just have to sit on the floor and feed and play cars at the same time. My real problem time is between 5 and 7 when she want to feed loads, but also have to get tea for the other 2 and get all their baths done as well, so far DH hasnt done a late shift since she was born but think an early tea will be in order when he does.
still here - ramping up the TENS machine and bouncing on the birthing ball during contractions - (as well as swearing through themquietly so DS doesn't hear)
DH gone for a lie down which is fine with me as rather have him feeling rested for later - so have some hope of him coming with me to hospital.
DS really tired out so good prospect of early night for him which would make things easier all round (not so good for grandma when he gets up at 5.30am though - lol!)
congrats BBM - no idea how you did the "no pain relief" bit - can I borrow some of your natural endorphins please? they must be good!
contractions are v strong and painful, lasting 1m20s or more but not regular (between 4 mins and 15 mins). the thing is....it's dinner time and I was planning on treating myself to a takeaway curry this evening. Should I still go ahead? or will I severely regret it?
Hi Moomin - how exciting!! I had a curry the night I went into labour with DD and I really did regret it, yes. I won't go into the detail, but labour bad enough without a hurty (back) bottom!
thanks turniphead - was going for fairly mild curry anyway - just worried about it coming back up again - and all the labour books say to have a light snack - but I'm hungry!!!
I would have thrown up by now (always throw up repeatedly in early labour) so not the best person to ask. But assuming you're going to eat something, no reason it can't be curry. But order it quickly -- things could speed up at any time (we've had some very quick second/third/fourth births on this group already).
Curry is only an issue if it's hotter than what you would normally eat, therefore your body/indigestion system can't cope with it and gives you sickness.
Sagitta, yes I am doing my doula training, finally kicked my butt into action to decide what to do, dont start it til nov but even then it's only a short course so will hopefully be doulaing by early next year!
Maybe I should keep a look out for a due feb thread and offer my support.
moomins, they never went regular, so all through dilation and delivery!
&eva* sends luck to moomin, and hugs to sagitta. she'll be back Friday.
bigbadmom congrats - shares a birthday with my evil sister. hope you dont believe in horoscopes pmsl!
have been 100% off dairy for 24 hours on tiktoks advice abd Bas seems so much better! nappies a different colour, more settled, lets just hope it helps th weight gain. sadly it means he probably has the asd gene, but that doesn't mean its triggered in him. and if it is.... well that's who he is.
Good luck to the ladies in labour or about to go in to labour. I should have ate more in early labour. I was starving later but was discouraged from eating. I threw up anyway straight after giving birth.
What does everyone think of using a dummy? Haven't used one yet but LO is getting quite upset in the evening (could be evening colic although she is only 3 months old) and was thinking of using one in a 'controlled fashion' if that's possible... Any thoughts?
gorgeous james born within 40 mins of getting to the hospital - no time for the curry or the birthing pool! just TENS and a bit of gas and air - just a small tear, no stitches. we were home by 1.30am.
love him to pieces but definitely never having another!
We are using a dummy, she doesnt seem to get confused (crosses fingers toes and eyes) it helps her settle well.
i am such a dummy - i have split the majority of her medicine over my carpet..luckily docs are doing me another today, i have enough left to last the day today. luminous yellow carpet anyone?!?
Congrats moomins, were not having another either DH had his snip on Tues
A word of warnind to any considering BF as a form of contraception - my period has returned and feeding 7-8 times a day. Previously been months without one after baby.
Congrats moomins! Welcome James! Glad the curry problem resolved itself - maybe one tonight instead?
And also congrats to bigbadmom, and thanks for the kind words.
Bit concerned that Mollyfloss' LO is already 3 months old. I have been pregnant for even longer than I realised ...
Induction booked for Saturday morning (42+1). MW gave me a half-hearted sweep yesterday, which just pissed me off as I know it won't do anything apart from make me feel crampy. Hey ho. At least I can enjoy my last two days of freedom now...And it gives us time to try to think of a name. Apparently nine months just isn't enough...
Hello all, congrats Moomins and BBM - only two days to go, Sagitta! Very good luck for Sat.
Things are well here, I suspect DD2 is going to be a rerun of DD1 as she gets terrible wind which bothers her all night, puts her off feeding etc. Am thinking of starting Infacol but she just seems so wee. Worried about reflux too (silent, again same as DD1, not a puker at all but won't lie flat) so contemplating an Amby hammock - has anyone tried one? Pretty tired but managed 3 lots of 2 hours last night so I can't really complain! DH still in spare room whilst DD2 and I languish together in our big bed (although he has given up smoking following his Allen Carr workshop last week).
Stitches finally gone and feel physically back to normal apart from pain/bleeding (TMI) on the more substantial visits to the loo (if you get me) - midwife checked and don't have piles so I guess it's just a result of me holding it in for a bit too long in abject fear following stitches . Nipples are fine after MW helped with latch. Still fat but hardly surprising given I can't stop eating .
How is Ellie doing, I wonder?
Big love to you all, sorry to be crap and not respond to everything that's happening. Can't believe how hugely my brain function is impacted by the broken nights - Peachy you are absolutely extraordinary for having got your dissertation in! Mumsnet A+++ for effort!
Right, time to go and get DD1 - I didn't see her this morning as DH took her in, and I really miss her. I'm finding not being able to devote so much time to her really hard and we had a nightmare bedtime last night - tried to read DD1 bedtime story whilst feeding DD2 and apart from the squashing risk DD2 was being fussy and crying - had to read more and more loudly and eventually just kind of bolt, whereupon DD1 starts screaming 'Mummy!', so left DD2 downstairs to go and say goodnight properly, whereupon (of course) DD2 ups her game and screams so loudly I thought she was going to combust (even from upstairs) - had to go back downstairs, get DD2 latched on properly, go upstairs with her stealthily latched on and then sing songs to DD1 until I surmised that she really was now taking the mick and wouldn't cry if I left the room! Luckily they were both quiet by 9 so I could watch the Apprentice - forgot how hard I find it to abide by the 'sleep when they sleep' rule even when I'm holding my eyelids open with matchsticks.
Ooh, that was quite a rant and now I really have to go!
Congrats moomins and bigbad! Still keeping up those big babies aren't we!
