I think it'd be cool if you put yours all in the same room like Dizzy does and like I'm going to do. I will be investing in a bunk within a year. DD1 is 4 so she'll do fine. DD2 will probably not move into that room for a year or so. I can't wait see them in there together. THE BONDING...oh, I mean the fighting.
No 4am alarm call for me either . Mind you I only had 6hrs sleep last night as i was faffing around until 12.15am . Dh home tomorrow so at least i will return to normal 10.30pm bed time (i just can't get to sleep when he's away...pathetic eh?)
Slept like a log last night...I think I was worn out from the sheerstupidity and painful incompetence displayed on The Apprentice. DP was too, we both woke up late. Shame really, as I woke up full of ideas to make him stay in bed
All that's gone out of my head now though - tis full of essay <sigh>
dizzy good luck with your work experience! Looking forward to hearing all about it
Decided I needed pop tarts this morn (not had them for years) but the sainsburys near dd's school didn't sell them. Do they still exist?? So I got Ben and Jerry's ice cream instead
Very envious of all your good night's sleep.. my DD was up for hours last night, coughing and moving beds.. ending up giving more milk and telling bedtime stories whilst DH slept on hmmmmmmmmm...
Pop tarts, i haven't had them in years and now i have a craving for them...
Everyone's pics of bumps look great, i just look like a fat frump.. definitely alot bigger than last time tho... i guess my stomach muscles have given up the ghost!!!xx
Morning. Pop Tart junkie here....so the answer is YES they still make them. Current box in the house contains pop tarts with pictures of Barbies on them. Out with the old and in with the new, I guess. DD won't let me purchase traditional ones. My FAV is Wild Berry!! YUMMMMMM!!
DH already out the door to work. DD still sleeping. She played outside with the neighbor's daughter until very late then quickly did bath and bed....out cold the minute her head hit the pillow.
I've been up a few times with baby issues. Throughout the night she's switch positions and I'M NOT COMFORTABLE AT ALL. The kicks/hits are now at my sternum and left hip bone. That sorta makes it hard to sleep on your left side.
Dizzy don't worry about the mess with your boots. Our thread has a maid service.
Hi, just checking in to get you on my threads list. Hope you're all ok. I was shattered last night then DD spilt pink milk all over my bedroom floor (phew, laminated 3m ago), then this am DS's nappy had exploded poo all inside his sleeping bag (damn disps, NEVER happens with cloth I tells ye.) This am, I felt so overwhelmed I begged DH to stay home and he did, hurray! He's got to have Wednesday off too as we're being interviewed as part of DS's assessment thingy, will try and blag lunch out then (couldn't justify it today but I've not had a fry-up since Friday, it's shocking).

Working hard here (don't believe that). Checkbook is balanced. DD is happily planning. I've had a shower. AND I just finished reading TWO magazines. Is has been terribly quiet on here today.
Just a quick question, i am usually a size 12 and was wondering if i should try a size 18 tshirt maybe rather tahn going for a maternity one. advice pls!
Nice work TS on the new thread title - personally I preferred "oh crap, dd has just run in covered in marker pen"
Been up since 6am as had to go to a conference in Harrogate. Twas very worthwhile, just for the pudding alone, but interesting work stuff too. Got in at 7pm and am knackered! Ds currently showering himself - must go and get him out before he floods the bathroom. Eeeek.
Bigboy I've been buying larger than normal sizes all along because none of the local maternity selections are affordable or stylish. I'd suggest trying the 18 on if you can. I've found one top is longer than the next in the same size. That said, I've returned a lot of clothes "thinking" they should have fit.
Captain, she really did run in covered in marker...highlighter to be exact. She was hot pink, neon green, florescent yellow and blue. Her face and hands only though. She got a good scrub then played outside and had to be rescrubbed. Needless to say, by the time she went to bed she was SQUEAKY CLEAN. Don't you just love that our kids are old enough to shower themselves. DD thinks she's such a big girl and scolds me when I attempt to help (which is everytime).
*bigboydidit I would try on the bigger size too. I bought some mens 36" waist shorts the other day as none of the maternity shorts are suitable.
cyteen very nice bump photo too. In order to get your pic onto your profile page, you have to first save it as 'highest compression/lowest quality' on your pc, before attempting to attach it and put it on your profile. It took me bloody ages to work that out!! Does that help at all?
Right, ds watching an episode of Count Duckula on video (showing my age - does anyone else remember it?!) - whilst I lounge around on mn eating chocolate and drinking Sprite (oooh, get me!)
MW appt tomorrow for routine 25 week appt. I have just realised I have no plastic pot to pee in so will have to improvise! Perhaps I could take her a jam jar full of pee?!
thanks! I have known since 19 weeks but got lazy to post anything, and was a bit underwhelmed by the girl thing but am happy and grateful now lol.
I still have only bought a travel system and a changing bag.
Sleeping at night is hard sleeping while ds is at school is great but so wrong, so still have no energy. Have a physio appointment tomorow for spd, not much happening really, just sleeping and feeling tired.
Jennylee, for Dizzy's sake, please say the travel system is NOT in your home. {{just say it whether you mean it or not}} Oh and nothings wrong with sleeping ANYTIME you get the chance.
I'm in denial too but august seems a long way off I keep thinking. i like looking at the baby stuff just don't actually feel the urge to buy it yet. although I saw a nice thing for co-sleeping which goes beside the bed
I did a quick scan back to see what I missed on the previous thread.
Dizzydixies - We have three bedrooms too. Two larger and one smaller. We gave the largest to the two boys to share and it is their playroom too. They love sharing and are really upset that the new baby will not be sharing with them. I too thought of what to do in the future. Here is what we decided in case it helps you: new baby will be co-sleeping with us, but his stuff will all be in the small room. He will go into the small room once he stops co-sleeping. When he is old enough, he will move into the older boys room either with them both, or if oldest ds is ready, oldest ds will get the small bedroom as his own space with desk etc. I think the oldest will definately get to the point where he wants his own room.
I almost bought that exact co-sleeper for DD. Used an ordinary playpen instead....DD really slept with us in the bed most of the time. I really liked the co-sleeper though. Might consider it this time....
ds stayed in our room for all of 10 nights before he got put in his own room - man that boy was NOISY! We'll try having ds2 in our room but will see what happens when he arrives.
True TS, we have all our old stuff. I must get round to washing it but I guess that can wait until mat leave starts. I was looking at some of it tonight, the socks are so cute and teeny-weeny - a little red and white pair which say "mummy loves me". awwwwww. And the little body/vest suits, they are toooo cute.
Right-o ladies, I have to give in and go to sleep. Must check what time mw appt is, can't be oversleeping....(ha, fat chance with ds the human alarm clock!).
Can anyone tell me how come ds will be 4 years old on 10th May? Where did that time go exactly?
My ds slept in out bed untill he was 18 months, and screamed if put in moses basket or cot so am afraid to waste money on those again, the only time ds did not scream in his moses backet we took a picture of him so we could capture it and pretend the moses basket was not a complete waste of money, but my parents are trying to get me to buy them again and not co-sleep, but i can't imagine coping without co-sleeping. plus we only have 2 bedrooms so can't buy shedloads of stuff, although I think I definately want a silvercross changing station, that folds away for storage, i just like the look of it.
Confession time: Neither me nor DH could stand having 3 of us in the bed so I do really fancy one of those co-sleepers since I plan to BF this time. Inheriting a swingy crib thing instead, haven't seen it yet though. DD went in cot in her own room by 3wks old because DH wouldn't have sex with her in the room (<<eye roll emoticon>>) and DS slept in carseat or bouncy chair in our room for first 2 months due to reflux (DH's phobia dealt fairly quick with that time).
Cavey - I still sing "Oy'll get it" in Nanny's voice whenever the phone rings or the door goes .
Jennylee...the waste of money and little space are also factors for me. We dealt with DD in our bed just fine. Even moved to guest bed which is smaller during a remodel phase of the master bedroom. That's why I'm leaning towards another playpen. As for changing station......don't laugh...I had one of those foam-pad/u-shaped pads (that's suppose to go on a changing table) on the floor in her room. I'd slide it under the crib (that we never used) to hide it sometimes. It worked perfectly that way. The playpen also had a changing table insert but I only used it when she was newborn. There's just so much stuff out there and the stores (and online) make it look so appealing but in reality you need very little to care for a child. That's my mindset with this pregnancy. Here's hoping I don't LOSE IT in the next three months.
Captain, best wishes for an excellent MW visit tomorrow. This will be the last time you see her before traveling to the states so have all your questions in order. Remember you've got a contact in the states if you need something while you're here.
Buckets, WTF sex at three weeks post?? That was about the LAST thing I wanted and if DH wanted he knew better than to admit it.
I thought that too! Buckets, I salute your indefatigability /
Well, I have pretty much finished my hideous assignment...one panic attack and many moments of despair later, I've just the tidying up of references to do and a few bits and pieces of evidence to insert. Going to get up early tomorrow and do those, then print it at the library and hand it in. It's complete shit, but I am crossing my fingers that it'll do. This stupid piece of coursework has been hanging over me for weeks, making me anxious when all I want is to relax and enjoy my pregnancy, so I truly hope this will be the last I hear of it.
Okay here's a question for the group: Is anyone or has anyone taken allergy medicine while pregnant? My cough is still bad so I finally broke down and took some Zyrtec (sorry don't know if available in UK but it's like Benadryl) today. I hate meds so I've only taken a child's dose and I have to admit it's sorta made me feel better. The baby's been playing like she's always played so I don't think it's bothering her. Just wanted to see if anyone else has medicated themselves during this process.
I'm going to assume everyone is in bed by now. I'm going to hang out with DH then crash out early. Catch ya'll in the morning.
ta 4 advice on clothes, will have a look 4 some shorts too. ordered a lovely pair of cut offs and tshirt from m&s last night for 20squid for our hols (in maternity section)reckon i'll get tons of use out of them.
twillight i'm sure your medicine will be ok, it was only a kids measure, perhaps ring your docs & check if u can carry on taking it. they probably will ask u to call back later, that's what mine did with hayfever tabs. have you tried honey & lemon in a drink?
Whatever you do CC, don't try what my Mum did once and use an old marmite pot. No matter how well it's cleaned all traces will not be gone and it won't make for sensible results!
CC, what about an empty bottle of water? if you haven't got one, buy one on the way, drink it (ensuring you'll definitely need a wee) and bob's your uncle!
Twilightsurfer - I get very bad allergies and the season has kicked in here. I have been advised through all three pregnancies (which were all at the same season) to not take anything orally. The meds here (including zirtec) all say not to take when pg. However, you can take topical things like eyedrops and nose sprays.
I kept saying after last time that I would not have another summer baby for this very reason and yet here i am again! My first was born July, seond June and this one will be July again!
LOL Actually I think it was just less than 3wks! Then I felt I had to break that record after DS was born . What have I set myself up for this time? You have to remember that although I had had major abdominal surgery, I hadn't quite pushed a baby out so that bit of me was still up for it. 2nd time around DH had refused to sleep with me the last few days before DS's elective Csection (some bizarre logic I still don't get) so I was kind of gagging for it. I guess it's the relief of getting my body back that does it, so perhaps breastfeeding will counteract that this time.
Cavey - I have all 36-odd episodes of Mysterious Cities of Gold on DVD (well worth £20 from some dodgy net geezer.) Still haven't watched the last one funnily enough.
Hello all . Back to MN once more, after my night out {woop woop). Now before you all get excited & think i was shaking my bootie until 2am in some fashionable dance venue, i was actually at a childrens book party at a friends house. I also had DD with me, asleep in a travel cot upstairs as DH STILL NOT HOME . I have worked out that i have only had one night away from DD in 17 months, not particularly on purpose as i am happy to leave her with other people, but just because opportunities for wild nights out have not really come my way.
I did have a lovely glass of pimms though with mint and strawberries which was a great feeling of summer coming......cue piddling rain this morning. We were also due to go awimming and DD booked in the creche so i could go awimming afterwards but she had a very nasty nappy this morning and i didn't want to risk it in the pool
jennylee welcome back & sorry to hear about your motivation levels. I have been motivated to write a list which includes 'decorate DD's room and decorate nursery' but this has yet to be started. At least you have bought the paint & curtains which unfortunately for me have not made it past the list stage either. at sheer incompetence laziness
buckets i had thought you were just celebrating increased libido in your 2nd trimester but it appears it is more like 'business as usual '. i couldn't stand DH near me as my boobs were soooooo painful and i think the thought of milk leakage put him off a bit too . DD was in with us in a crib next to the bed until 6 weeks then evicted to her cot in her own room for making too much noise!
TS step away from the baby catalogues as it will only end up in a dented bank balance and piles of plastic crap!
CC hope your appt went well and you are fully 'fit to travel'? I normally forget sample and just ask MW for a pot and go to the loo and fill it then. Bit late for this advice now eh???
Hope CC's app goes well and that she found appropriate receptacle!!! lol at poppysocks mum and the marniite jar. Wonder what came up in their results for that?? yeast infection ? I have mw on Tues - must remember to pee in my pot!! Last time I sat there with my pot (actually I think I made dh look after it lol), and all these women - many of them much more pg than me, so clearly should have known the drill, were going into mw, then sheepishly coming out with a pot to perform in. In the end the mws made an announcement about everyone needing a sample. Some people STILL managed to go in without though. I must say I felt rather smug!!!!
I was alseep before 10 last night. But I woke up to wee at 11.30, then dd wanted a wee at 2, so I had one too, then dh came to bed at 3.30 (he had planned to stay up late - lots of letters need to go out today re church, so he planned to sit up last night), the I think i needed the loo later. ARGH! Had a good sleep overall though. An finding that I get really uncomfy in the evening - I get a pain under my boob/by my ribs, so in the end go to bed to stretch out and that helps. Took hot water bottle to bed last night, which was lovely - though when I owke up at 11.30 I was a bit on the hot side .
Not got too much to do today. Need to tackle the ironing (mainly dh's shirts - I'm being a good wife, after months of neglect when reallt bad with the m/s) and give kitech floor a quick mop over. But other than that ma havign a chilled day. Hence sitting on MN so far since i got back from school run/supermarket.
A mum at school - her ds is in dd's class - had a baby yesterday. a second ds. And it was on her due date!!!! Wow!!
We never co-slept (in the literal same bed sense) and I'm not sure I see us doing it this time. Dd was in our room in moses basket for first 7 weeks, though after than we were all disturbing each other (she was sleeping through) so we moved her into her room. Plus she was too big for the moses after that so had to go into her cot! In her life (she is 5 in 2 weeks) she has only slept in bed with us/ me a handful of times. It's always a treat (for her) when she does, and I'm never sure if i wish we'd done it when she was a baby or not. Probably not - but it's all personal choice, right?
thanks for your thoughts - all good with the mw, bp nice and low 88/56 so good to travel. Got to pick GP letter up next weds.
Just had a quick 15 min nap on the settee...now off to play at a friends house. I had planned to go into town and get a new bra from Bravissimo but sleep was a more appealing idea!
Used my empty folic acid tub to pee in!! NOw have a new pee jar from mw for next appt in 4 weeks.
Sun is shining - hope you all have nice pleasant days too!! laters x
Captain, just shot you an email...forgive me I hadn't read you last post. Glad you found a pot. OH and that all is well.{grin]
Seriously Sazzles I hate it when those baby catalogs arrivel. I feel obligated to go through them but then just shake my head going "who buys all that stuff." This it hits me, THE FIRST TIMERS.....sorry for those in that category but you do end up with loads you don't need.
OKAY I came up with another baby name last night. Please tell me what you really think about Georgia Viviann. DD1 is Kinsley Grayson. Our last name is two syllables and seven letters. All three of DH's names are seven letters and my first and last name are seven letters apiece too. Sort of an accidental theme. Again, Georgia Viviann.
Sorry TS about lack of attention to MN! I was having alovelylunch battle with DD over pasta consumption. She has ended up back in bed due to the continual strop and has gone to sleep so maybe she is still unwell after her nappy incident this morning. [bad mother emoticon]
I LOVE Georgia and this was our alternative name for DD but she was definitely a Lucie when she popped out. I really like your theme on length of names too - Not having thought consciously about it i am going for 5 letters with most of my choices (other than Emma). We would have had Georgia Rose but that doesn't work for 7 letters.
Hi albs {{Waves to show no offence taken}}
Once DD wakes up we (including DH who has miraculously reappeared from the wilds of Scotland) are going to order DD's new bed and chest of drawers - 10% off day in Homebase ladies, and then i'm going to the big Next in Cheltenham to try and buy her new duvet cover & curtains etc - thanks jennylee for the promt on this one. For some reason i prefer to buy these in store rather than online.
Don't like the Viviann spelling, TS, prefer Vivien or Vivienne but I guess that doesn't fit your 7 letter rule. Georgia's nice (better than that Jorja actress on CSI LOL.)
Georgia on the shortlist here too. Finally sorted out the Emily issue with my parents, but I'm still not 100% with the idea, but love the name. So... we have shortlist of those two plus Alexandra and will decide when DD is here. Rather enjoying the thought of holding off on the decision as DD had her name for months before she made an appearance.
...{puffing back through door and dropping shopping bags in a heap}
Being pg i went out to buy this and came back with this instead! Do you think i made the right choice ladies as i had an internal discussion with myself for about 15 minutes until DH got narky and told me just to buy one & bring it back if i decided against it. On the upside if you look at the small print they are non iron . Sticks a virtual two fingers up to the mad ironing ladies
However i am very that Homebase were out of stock of the bed i wanted and i couldn't even order it for later delivery. So we traipsed round 5 bed shops and nothing remotely resembling what i want so am now on an internet mission to track one down elsewhere.
CC i'll have you know i am a very posh bird indeed and my DH does a fantastic impression of the Pimms o'clock man. Enjoy your night out...i am flaked on the sofa, DH putting DD to bed then cooking me a curry. I think he may be hotfooting it back to Scotland at this rate!
Well Sazzles I like them both so in my mind you couldn't go wrong no matter which choice you made.
Funny I looked at bedroom things for DD today too. Didn't purchase anything because I'm not sure if I'll let her keep the queen or get her something new. I've located a bunk that has a queen bottom and a twin top...which I think I'd prefer. But then I wonder if two twins would be best. The twins though don't allow enough room for me to curl up with either one of them if they need me...like when they are sick. The queen/twin would give me that option as long as the sick kid where on the bottom bunk.
Captain, emailed you. I'll say it again....I'm totally jealous of your trip.
DH took the afternoon off today. <<<AMAZING EMOTICON>>> He met DD and I at her school then took us to this wonderful new italian restuarant for lunch. I AM STUFFED!! The food was excellent. I will be returning there OFTEN. Now we're piled up in bed snoozing....well I'm not snoozing yet but will be soon after I post here and read all my emails which in four hours the tally is 24 (everybody waited until today to email me it seems).
I just read Miamla's thread. I think she'll be fine. Brown is always better than red but proper care doesn't need to be postponed because the MW is late calling her back. I'd be at the doctor's or hosptial ASAP. 28 weeks (which technically she's in the 28th week) is not a terrible time to give birth but would require a bit of prenatal care (with excellent outcomes). My thoughts are with you Miamla, where ever you are at the moment.
OH I almost forgot.... Thanks for the positive response about the name Georgia. Oddly my MIL didn't like it. OH WELL but my own father did (seems I have a dead aunt who had the same name). DH is holding out saying he's not going to SELECT the name now but he acts like he really likes it and he laughed a lot when DD kept yelling it over and over in the car today. I guess it helps that DH is originally from Georgia (the state) and his a HUGE University of Georgia football fan. That said, I'm waiting to see what my FIL thinks about the name....(Georgia boy & fan as well).
OK, I give up. Why is it that the first bed i saw, i liked, £250 inc mattress, job done. BUT out of stock. 3 hrs of internet searching, found a few but not great... >£500? I'm giving up and going to bed and hoping to have more than 6 hrs sleep for the first time in 4 days. Hair cut and colour tomorrow - looking forward to being pampered.
No news from Miamla yet . Sending lots of baby glue & positive vibes
Been keeping up with the thread, but too sore to post apart from to say, saw physio today for SPD. She had to do several things with my back and legs and pelvis to check how bad it is, didn't hurt at the the time, walked out of there with a belt support thing on, went to sleep for a few hours, felt great, then my ds went to his grandparents untill tomorrow, me an dh went down the pub so I could watch him drink beer while I had orange juice, get up to leave - and terrible pain with the spd and can hardly walk or sit comfortably, think it was the physio moving my bones and stuff and pushing down on my pelvis to feel the extent of it, wish I'd took her up on her offer of crutches now. AAARGH!
>>>YAWN<<< I did not mean to nap that long. I'll never sleep properly tonight.
Soar here too much not in the hips. My belly aches like it's EXPANDING again. The baby obviously doesn't realized I'm in pain because she's smacked me from the inside enough.
Sazzle the harder you look for what you want the less likely you'll find. That holds doubley true if you have the money to pay for it. On a day when you're broke (and not looking) you'll trip over a dozen beds that are PERFECT!! Since I'm putting off getting DDs new bed, I'll probably miss the only opportunity I have to get the twin over queen bunk. Better luck tomorrow. And best wishes on good nights sleep.
DIZZY?? Where are you?? You've been away one day too long.
Miamla, you must be nicely resting under the watchful eye of a team of medical professionals. >>>>>VIBES<<<<<< >>>>>>VIBES<<<<<< >>>>>>>VIBES<<<<<<< Here's some more good vibes to help you out.
Ouch jennylee, i can't imagine how painful that it but i'm wincing just at the thought of it as i type. Hope you can find something to relieve the pain. Have you tried swimming?
DD still not well so we are missing swimming this morning. DH was going to have to take her which he HATES so am wondering if he spiked her food.... It started before he got back home so i don't think he can be blamed
I think dizzy must still be cleaning her boots......
I agree with you sazzles, I would be suspicious of dh too......Talking of beds, we paid £329 for ds' new bed a few weeks ago, will try to find a link....
Ds and I got up at 6am (not through my choice I hasten to add, ds thought it would be a good time to be getting up). Had an extra hours nap on the sofa and then felt marginally more human. Dh has just woken up, a full 3.5 hours after us .
dizzy are you Missing In Action?
miamla praying all is well with you and lo. Hoping to hear from you vvvvvv soon.
ts how lovely is your dh to do that and take you out for a meal? Italian sounds yummy too, even at 09.56am.....
What are your plans for today ladies? I'm off to town onmyown!
sazzles it's this bed but without all the paraphenalia underneath it. Ds loves it but thinking about it, your dd is prob way too small for this! Ho hum x
Up at 6:30am too. Nobody else is but I guess my internal clock went off. I should go shower and dress so I can be ready for soccer...not mine but DDs.
I'm still hurting this morning, though. Odd achey almost pointy pains. Just had one in the pelvic floor area. I can't figure out how the baby is positioned but she woke me twice last night thumping around. 25 weeks now. Might have to go into therapy to get through the next 10.
That's right. Dizzy came in and muddied up the place and hasn't been back since. Now I am worried....not like her to be so quiet.
