lol....very organised. I've updated the stats list as the EDD in my notes is 6th November. Scan said 7th, but mw had worked out 6th from my dates, so they've obviously decided just to go wit mine. not that it makes a fig of difference; baby will arrive when baby decides it's time!

I didn't know we had a predictions thread....that must've been started when I was on holiday. I think it'll be a girl due and the chinese calender thing does as well, so we shall see!

Hi guys. I am having a mare. sad
I went to Kings today. Saw another doctor. She was totally flippant and said she couldn't see what the problem was, re not being booked in and no 12 week scan.
I have had lots of hypos over the last few days. And it has been terrible for my dh. Even ds has started crying at "ill mummy".
Just come next week she said, like going to Kings is popping round the corner. I got up at 6.15 today and got home at 4.30pm. A 10 hour day then. For what ?
And to top it all off, I feel off the train. Got my leg stuck under the train. Emergency . Men everywhere. Lost my shoe. And had to be assisted to my car. Covered in bruises. Swollen leg and hurt hand when I tried to soften the fall.
Me and dh not happy.
Not good. sad

Regarding scan - how rude, some people have not got a clue. I can't believe you are not getting a 12 week scan.
Did they say you might be able to get one next week then if you go back or not at all?

oblomov wondered what had happened, was looking for you on the previous thread...what a shitty buggery day you have had......I cannont believe Kings, can you go to or call your GP and get a referal to another hospital closer to you for your scan???? Obviously I know you have to be at Kings for medical reasons but surely just a scan can be arranged...otherwise, can youturn up at EPAU and say you have been bleeding/cramping and get a scan that way??? When I went on Monday, the sonographer said "Oh I can do nuchal for you now if you want" but as DH wasn't with me, I declined....just saying that as you so close to 12 weeks they maybe able to do that......

(Very dickensian and snealy I know, but needs must and all that..............)

anyway my lovelies, I am off to bed!!

Hello again all,
Oblomov, how can they be so unfeeling - travelling all that way has to be bad for you, especially when you feel like you've not gained anything for it.
Life here is mixed - more internet access as DH is back home atm, but he is deciding whether he wants to do a course which starts in Sept and lasts till Dec, and he won't be able to take paternity leave till the end of it! Or another course which will mean us moving for a year while he does the course and then moving again for the job it will lead to!
Scan on Saturday! can't wait, saw homeopath last weekend and she gave me some stuff for the anxiety.

On no Oblomov - sounds terrible! Do you think there is a chance you may get a cancellation appt at all? Actually you could say you had a fall and were worried, and get a scan that way (would be true but delayed a week). Will the BDA help you fight your corner? I guess in the meantime, take it easy, and teach your DS to feed you jam if you fall over (friend of mine used to keep one of those baby tiptree pots in her handbag)

Hi Ladies

I know I am a stranger in these parts but I find it so hard to follow. Nice to see good scan results, sorry about your fall Ob.

Well been feeling brighter here, clothes getting tighte but according to the scales I am still the same weight. Is it to early to wear maternity trousers I am down to one pair of tailored work trousers the others I have to undo half way through the day!! Definate bump forming. Lost track of number of weeks, Infact going to go and calculate. My dates were due oct 23rd, scan put me back to nov 3rd.

Had tummy ache last 12 hours really bloated but I have been very constipated (sorry tmi) feels like I am about to have upset tummy.

I apologise for the me post but was after advice! Also my boss at work who I work closely with little boy has chicken pox - would this be a concern?

Off to a funeral today (why I have time to post!) but will check in later.

Sorry again for me post. X

Hello all - not been on for a couple of days and there's so many posts I can't get through them all - we are a chatty bunch! grin

Oblamov when I was first pregnant I had no idea about my dates and so I decided to get a reassurance scan as the NHS wouldn't give me one until 12 weeks, it was at Ashford and St Peters hospital in Surrey and the cost was £90 - the link is here just in case you want to have a look, they do 12 week Nuchal Scans for the same price. They fit me in pretty quick too from what I remember. www.ultrasounduk.co.uk/index.html

Coolkat welcome - not sure if I have any good advice to give you re the chicken pox but I always find NHS direct really useful so you could call them.

Have a good day everybody, and if anyone is having scans, good luck!

Hi everyone.

Oblomov - so sorry to hear about the terrible day you've had. I echo what everyone else has said and I'm also really shocked at the way you've been treated. It's not right at all nor is it good enough.

Pleased to hear about all the excellent scan results. I really think that we're on a roll now and the good news will just continue. Still waiting to find out if any of us are carrying twins!!! grin

coolkat - my EDD has been moved to the 3rd November too, so you'll be 13 weeks + 2 days now. It's starting to fly by now, isn't it? we're almost into the second trimester! [shocked face!]

pinky...I've e-mailed you those links. Should keep you busy for a while!

hi coolkat....if you have had chicken pox as a child you should be immune, however there are some people who aren't immune, but i think that's quite rare. Some more info here.

I have a very whingy DD today. She has had a temperature and been off colour again, the poor wee thing. She was refusing all food/milk yesterday and although she's had a bottle and some breakfast today, I don't hold out much hope of it staying in her tummy for much longer.

Great scan news from Autumnlady and Lolis yesterday - you must be so relieved to have seen your beans at last. No twins yet though...
Oblomov What a rubbish day for you. I can't believe the way you're being treated by King's of all places sad I also hope you're not too bruised and sore from your fall. I would definitely recommend a private scan if that's possible...
Daisy Sorry to hear your DD is not very well again. Hope it's just something minor she's caught in her weakened state after last week's episode.
Has anybody experienced any pelvic girdle pain? I thought I might be suffering from sciatica but then googled it and it turns out it might be PGP. It's excruciating whatever it is! Fortunately it's intermittent so I don't get it all the time. I was also not impressed to read that it might linger after the pregnancy too. Might have to go and see a physio...
Coolkat Unfortunately constipation seems to be all too common blush I've found dried prunes seem to help and lots of fruit and veg. It's a horrible feeling though.

Cricri, your pelvic pain sounds awful, hope you find something to ease it, do you think some kind of support belt could help you?

Daisy, sorry to hear that your poor little daughter is going through the wars, really hope she feels better soon smile.

If anyone would like a peek, I've put two new photos on my profile, a 2D scan photo and a 4D scan photo that I had done on Monday at exactly 12 weeks pregnant. I was offered the 4D scan after my nuchal scan, it was amazing to see him/her in 4D, although after moving around and even turning upside down during the 2D scan, baby had fallen fast asleep by the time the 4D scan was done.
Contact the poster See this person's profile Contact mumsnet about this post By hanaflower on Wed 30-Apr-08 11:28:21

Contact the poster See this person's profile Contact mumsnet about this post By browny on Wed 30-Apr-08 11:30:55
Hi hanaflower, it is amazing isn't it? I paid for the nuchal scan at my hospital as it isn't routine, the scan cost £150, but it was so special.

The doctor that did the scan was Spanish and absolutely lovely, I took my Dad and my eldest daughter with me and they were both amazed. My husband had already gone with me to my dating scan last week and didn't mind when I asked if my Dad could see the baby this time, my lovely Dad was close to tears!smile.
Contact the poster See this person's profile Contact mumsnet about this post By browny on Wed 30-Apr-08 11:36:06
Hanaflower, I meant to say that I found out from my hospital that the triple test done at 15 weeks is only 60% accurate at giving your risk of possible complications with your pregnancy, but the nuchal scan is 80% accurate of giving your risk but is only offered in my region if you are diabetic or having twins. I'm 40 this time and will be 41 by the time this baby is born, so I decided to go for the nuchal scan.

cricri; I've suffered from PGP since I had DS. It's bad in early pregnancy for me, and then gets better around 12 weeks before coming back with a vengeance later on. I saw a physio last time and she gave me some deep abdominal exercises that strengthen the ligaments and make it more bearable. They are very similar to pilates exercises (in fact some of them are exactly the same). Ask your MW for a referral now as physio appointments can take an age to come through. fortunately a friend of ours is a physio so she can usually fit me in at short notice and gives me a reduced rate too!!

browny the 4D scan is amazing!

Weeeelllll, i have a healthy baby {{relieved sob}} i spent all last night in tears convinced i was on the verge of miscarrage, i passed a blood clot and the brown discharge just didn't let up all day, in fact in seemed to get darker. I burst into tears when we left the house for the scan because i was so convinved when i came back i would officaly be no longer pg (very pathetic i know!) BUT Scan showed arms, legs and wonderful heart beat grin it was much clearer than i was expecting for 10 weeks. I've been dated at 10+2 with a new due date of Nov 24th (have updated the list accordingly)
No one could explain why the spotting had happened, and i'm still passing the odd clot but i am far, far less worried now.
Oh and there is only one not two, so i am definatly not the first twin pregnancy on our thread!

Ob well done on getting a scan, even if it is inconvinient....as someone suggested, can a friend drop DS off or could you even take him with you?? I worry that if you don't make the 9am they won't see you...you know what these places are like.......

I have both boys at home today, under the weather and generally fed up....both slept from 11-3 which was amazing as guess what, so did I!!! However, have to have a blood test tomorrow as they think boys might have slapeed cheek and there is a risk to pregnant mums...haven't googled this yet for fear of freaking myself out,but the Dr said that 60% of women are immune so fingers crossed on that one.....

Hope everyone is having a lovely day!!!

Am starting to get a tad nervous now - all this talk about twins and there are not many of us left on this thread who have not had a scan - I really really don't think I could handle twins - it would bankrupt us for a start!

Hi everyone, hope you are all doing well. So jealous of all of you who have had a scan. Thanks everyone who was concerned about me after my last post. I felt awful all weekend so went back to my parent's house for another few days. DD and I missed dh too much though so we came home again today. I just feel horribly sick all the time and throw up all evening and at night. To make matters worse I hadn't heard anything from the hospital about my first appointment so I rang my doctor's office today. They made some error with my stuff and never sent in my forms. I rang the hospital myself and they won't be able to see me until the 6th of June!!!!! That is weeks away - I will be nearly 18 weeks by then. I am going to see my gp to see if he can get me seen sooner. I am really starting to worry cos I have lost 1.5 stones weight already and apart from feeling sick I don't feel pregnant at all. No sign of a bump or even firming up of tummy yet. Sorry for the long moan. I find it hard to be positive these days.

My sickness comes and goes all the time ceebee.
I have only had one day out of every week for the past three when I haven't been able to keep a thing down. Very scary and I convince myself that is the start of it getting really bad, but the next day I am fine, as if nothing happened.
Very weird.
Monday was a really bad day but today and yesterday I was totally fine, though I think I will just take myself to bed today, just in case.wink
But I am like some of you out there too, when it is gone, I think oh god, is everything ok. The whole time I am being sick I think, god make it stop.
I don't think he is listening to me anymore!smile
Next scan is the 14th, only 2 weeks away and then I will into the 12 weeks when, I have convinced myself, I will suddenly stop feeling ill and immediately feel wonderful!hmm wanna place bets!?

Hi twinklingfairy, thanks for the support. The most annoying thing about it that I suspected they might mess up (they did when I was pregnant with dd) but I was just too sick to follow it up. If it is the doctor's office mistake maybe they will be able to do soemthing to get me seen sooner. It wasn't an issue last time round because I was admitted to hospital with hyperemesis at 11 weeks. I'm starting to wish I had gone into hospital a few weeks ago when the doctor suggested it.

Suiledonn- so sorry you are still feeling ill. I lost a couple of stone last time, it's no fun, and exhausting. You are doing really well to keep going in the day. Can you take any of the medication? I used to take mine in the afternoon when DS had his nap and after he was in bed, because they made me really sleepy- which gave some respite. I can't believe they have messed up with your notes - it would be such a boost for you to see your baby.sad

Daniya and Browny, love your scan pics.

Hi coolkat - I'm due 3rd Nov, too.

Fab news, serendipity- but still no twins!

Italia! Shame I won't be enjoying the coffee and wine, but will make up for it by eating my own weight in gelato and pasta smile I am SO looking forward to it.

Hi pinkyminky, the doctor prescribed cyclizine for me and I took it for a few days. It did reduce the number of times I was throwing up but it made me feel very strange so I stopped taking it. My friend is a nurse and I asked her about it and she said the dose (50mg) seemed quite high. I am going back to the doctor so going to ask about it again.

Maybe I will be the first twin pregnancy on the board. According to the doctor having twins does tend to make you sicker. They said that ;ast time too though but no twins. I wish it was twins because I would have liked 3 children but dh and I have agreed there is no way I am going through this again.

Hanaflower, you lucky thing, have a wonderful time!

Suiledonn, sorry you're feeling so ill, you never know maybe it could be twins, do you twins in your family? I really hope the sickness stops soon, you must be exhausted with it and so fed up. I felt so ill from about 7 weeks until last weekend, when I was almost 12 weeks, the motion sickness feeling has almost gone but I can't keep my eyes open!

Cyclizine is the one that worked for me, but it does knock you out (which can be a plus), I can't remember the dose, though. I know exactly how you feel, I was totally against another pregnancy, but here I am with number three! I have been so lucky this time, though.
There have been a few HG threads on here recently, that you might find useful. I'm in the middle of the kids tea at the mo, but I'll try to dig them out later.

Ceebee- mine went away...but have spent all afternoon lying on the sofa wondering if i am about to be sick angry
dozymare ther is a risk to pregnant mums- definatly, but don't google it'll freak you out! Your blood test will check for antibodies. The chances are you have already had it and not realized it can be soooo mild. I'm going through the same thing myself, the day i started bleeding a freind we saw at the weekend called and told me her son had it. I googled it- i repeat DO NOT google! I'm sure you will be fine, good luck with your blood test

suiledonn sad, cross about your rubbish GP. Go back and be demanding. Get them to sort something out. Believe me I know, I have fought GP and EPU and now I have 'slipped throught he net' at Kings.
But as I said, you have to be firm, say that you ar not leaving until they ... it is the only way.
Jealous at Hana going off for 2 weeks.
My sickness has returned, or my nauseau at least, twinkling.

Serendippity, wonderful news about your scan! I bet you are really relieved!

Suiledonn, I am sorry you are sooo ill and that you have been messed around, I hope that you can be squeezed in somewhere, it isn't your fault.

Oblomov, I am glad you got your nuchal scan sorted, good luck with getting to London for 9am though, I don't envy you.

Ceebee, my nausea went away for 2 weeks and then came back for another week before going away all together but leaving me with a chronic headache, which thankfully has eased now after 4 weeks solid.

Hana, have a fantastic holiday!!

Suiledonn - gosh your sickness sounds really bad - that weightloss seems amazing - what does GP say about it? How many wks are you?

Nothing to report from me, apart from glorious weekend away from kids and DH rambling along the wild coastal path of north Cornwall. I felt oh I don't know,a about 28 and so active. Got back to London on Monday and spent most of yesterday lying down with bad ms again - I thought that stopped 2 wks ago!

for those of you feeling dreadful there is a website that is something like feelingdreadful or feelingawful I remember seeing a leaflet on the notice board of the EPAU. Hope you can find it and it helps you girls who are suffering....Hope you feel better soon....

As for symptoms returning, I too have had a lazy day at home watching dvds with the boys whilst horizontal on sofa. They are usually so active it was nice to have a bit of peace and quiet instead of having to be the Indian to their cowboys....

I am very jealous of your holiday to Italia - whereabouts??? I have no idea where we (or if!) we will go in the summer...we went to the Maldives in Feb (and yes bought back more than a suntan grin grin) Has anyone else got any holiday planned????

Oh forgot to add, we told the DS they were going to have a baby brother or sister, and we asked what names they liked......our bean is now officially Lemonade Tiger!!!!!!!!

grin at Pinky - i have been looking at some of the name threads recently and cannot elieve the bitchiness of other MN'ers about the names of other MN'ers children....Personally, I don't give a stuff what someone thinks of my DC's names but cannont believe the venom and preoccupation on "Chavvy" or "popular" names.......The nam eI was given in 1974 was unheard of, probably the equivalent to something like Sacha now and ironically it has been in the top 10 lists for the past 10 years.....DH and I choose our kids names based on Family and more importantly meaning...Therefore I have a "Greatest, Strongest" for DS1 and "Handsome Mountain hunter" for DS2. DS1 was in a precarious situation due to complications with his Kidney so it seemed fitting to give him a name like "strongest" and DH and I love skiing so had to get Mountain into DS2!!!!

Sorry for ramble, I am pregnant you know {grin}

Yes IKWYM, they are minefields, those threads. WE kept our children's names secret until after they were born, it is a very difficult thing, esp. when you have parents like mine- Dad sat there after we announced DS and said, 'well it's not a name I would have chosen', and that was that. sad. But I don't mind, we like their names, and they are our children, so poop to himgrin

We still haven't discussed names at all here. Dh refuses until he knows what we are having. I am not entirely sure what will happen if baby is shy?!

Ceebee, never mind your mother, the rest of us on Bonkers Anonymous (that sounds dodgy!) liked it!

DS2 was nameless for 3 days as DH and I are at opposite ends of the spectrum when it comes to names.....DS has a very traditional British name (that I really don't like the long version of) but the shortened version I love and seems to be growing in popularity (as in fact do all the old 1900-1930 names...

My Mum HATED it when we first gave it to him but she loves it now as she loves him!!!

I really can't believe the venom on some of the name threads though....

We kept our name choices to ourselves until after DD was born. It felt like another thing we could keep as a surprise. We also did not find out the sex so that was a surprise for us.

Afterwards I told our top three girls names and therefore only the ones we had discarded which had been Eva and Bethan. I was glad I had because as soon as I said them, my little sis piped up, 'You mean Bethany.' No Bethan 'The correct name is Bethany' says she. No, the choice we had made was Bethan and Bethan would have been her name, not your incorrect interpretation of it.angry See, that's why I didn't share before hand!!

I like Lemonade Tiger thoughwinksmile

It is our wedding anniversary today - 5 years of purgatory grin obvioulsy just kidding!!!

Kids are much better today so as school is shut for elections, I am going to take them shopping for maternity clothes (aren't they lucky boys!!!) Have bribed DS1 that he can have a new cowboy dvd and wagamama's lunch if he is good (pre kids I was never going to bribe them or shout, my how things change!)

Is anyone having a scan today - if so good luck and bring us some twins!!!!!! grin

My word, you lot are chatty. I've got to stop coming on here so often as I am busy at work and I'm getting the impression that my boss is supervising me much more closely than usual. I don't want to believe it's because I'm pregnant, but because of feeling ill the last few weeks I've not been so energetic at work, and I think he feels that I'm slacking. Which I'm upset by because he's just had 2 months off sick and no one bats an eyelid.

Happy anniversary dozy!

I think I know the names I want for a boy and a girl, but am not going to tell anyone, especially parents....they are being a little too advice-giving already and it's annoying me!

Anyone else feel that work is more complicated now, either because of the way they're treated or because of being preoccupied and ill? I feel like I want to go on ML now!

Just thought I'd pass on a clothes shopping tip
- Zara has some really lovely and quite reasonable (£25) silk blouses that (if you buy them in size L) fit perfectly well for maternity wear. Although I confess, I did have to let mine out a bit around the boobs so do try them on before buying. I cut a bit off the sleave and unpicked the underarm and added it; you can't tell.

I was getting so depressed by the bleak range of maternity clothes available - Dorothy Perkins is so grim and dark at the moment. I really wanted some funky summery prints rather than endless black or bright pink, and so was really pleased to find a nice 'going out' top to stop me feeling frumpy and large. I'm off to a hen party this weekend and think I might end up telling them - I'll only be 10 weeks but I can't be bothered to go through the whole drinking explanation thing, and they are all good friends anyway.

And Red Herring in Debenhams have a good range of jeans and nice dresses/tops.

Not that I spent far too much yesterday or anything. But I feel so happy now I've got trousers that aren't too tight - my husband was laughing at me as I skipped round the room. I don't normally care much about clothes, but it was really getting me down to have everything get so tight.

We are chatty aren't we ?
My head is spinning at the moment.
I feel like I can't talk to anyone about how I feel other than this thread. I just worry my husband sick.
I spoke to the Ruskin midwives at Kings. She advised me that the antenatal/scanning dept at Kings has gone totally manic in the last year. They can not cope with the influx.
I told her that I was referd to Professor Amiel when pregnant with my son. Prof is adamant that she controls both diabetic and antenatal care. But I used to struggle with the long round trip going to Kings, especially as I got bigger and bigger in later pregnancy and especailly at time when my diabetes went mad. She said that it is now the norm to need to come atleast twice a week. There is very little chance of getting a scan on a tuesday, which is the day I am asked to come to see prof. The idea of doing a 10 hour round trip TWICE a week, once for a scan, and once to see the diabetes team, does NOT APPEAl.
Dh and I need to talk about this and decide what to do.
Unlike Lolis, My work has been really nice. But I have now agreed to work a monday pm, to cover the fact that I was off all day tuesday. What happens if I need to go to Kings 2 days a week. Work are not going to like that. I am moving from working part time to full time !
How am I going to manage ? How am I going to cope . And where is ds going to fit into all this scenario. I had considered this, as part of the planning of how having another pregnancy was going to be difficult. But I hadn't envisaged, what a nightmare Kings had become.
I need some materntiy wear. But I haven't found any I like, It is all dark and depressing, as ruthless has said. I need to go somewhere big, with a good choice, in a variety of styles, and some decent spring/summer colurs.
Any suggestions wink ?

Oh oblomov what an absolute disgrace.....You poor thing.....you do know that you are entitled to choose any hospital for your pregnancy and pre natal care. Is there anyway you can change hospitals? I am also in the diabetic clinic, seeing a Dr Sheata. I am not diabetic, but due to my PCOS and thyroid issues making me so fat, I have a good chance of getting gestational diabetes. Just a thought, but maybe you could change hospitals to one slightly easier to get to????

As for maternity clothes, I have had such a disapointing trip...went to kingston and all I got were a really nice pair of over the bump jeans in Zara and some skinny jeans in Dotty P's. All the tops were horrible.....am going to have to go back to bluewater at some stage.......

As for twins, I don't think we have had any confirmed yet, have we??!!!

As I am one of the only ones not to have had a scan yet, all this talk about twins is SO not good for my nerves! However, am feeling that it won't be me as, although I have felt continuously sick, it is not as bad as with DS (and I believe it is really bad if you have twins) and also I can still fit comfortably in my normal clothes and no real bump as yet at 10 weeks (and again, I believe that your bump is bigger with twins) - am I clutching at straws here to make myself feel better???

Quite quiet today, in comparison to how long it normally takes me to read through!

Oblomovsad poor you. I don't know tht I have anything of any use to say, but thinking of you.
You are entitled to attend any anti natal care that you need, though I am sure it doesn't really salve your conscience, esp if you were meant to be moving to full time hourssad
I always took my day off on the day I had any scans or appointments, even though I needn't have. It just seemed easier and less stressful to make them my days and to relax and enjoy the process, rather than rush back to work as soon as it was done.

I did have bother with my boss with my pregnancy with DD.
He was ok whilst I was ill, but then got cross when I planned holidays for about a month after I had returned from sick leave. Saying, but you are only just back!
Then had fights about whether or not I was entitled to them at all. He felt I should have the days accrued where I felt that I could take in advance of the ones I would not be taking during my ML. Also confusion cos I thought I did have them, turned out they had used 3 whilst I was in hospital, in order that I would have money. They had asked for my ok, but I did not remember. I was pretty wasted by that point though.
After that I started to have to fight for my ML pay. There was a lot of confusion and he kept telling me I was not entitled. After a heck of a lot of to-ing and fro-ing it finally turned out that his accountant did not realise that Miss Pixie was in fact Mrs Fairy and that therefore Mrs Fairy nee Pixie was entirely entitled to her pay.
I never did get paid for my holidays though (the ones I did not get to take in advance, as normal protocol) hmm

I don't think he would look kindly on any future pregnant ladies in his company.

Sorry about thatblush

Hey, does anyone know? What happens re Maternity Pay from the government. If you have not been working does that mean you are entitl
