YCBS - you're still at work? I am truely in awe... im such a lazy fecker... (although i did spend today helping my friend's daughter with her uni essays if that makes me seem slightly less rubbish...) chocolate dog sounds like a total monkey - 3 leads... does he think your going in after them??
blobsmummy - bad news re funeral, hopw it wasnt too bad for you & DHxx
asics - festival is pretty fun, we did just do the grown up things last year but it seems to be quite the thing for LO's. (ok and big kids like me who just sort of hung around 'chatting' to a woman i know from work so i could watch the kids entertainers
GCG - lol, re fridge, hopw this means somethings starting for you...(everything crossed that i can) I think you can have sex if you've had a show but will ask midwife tomorrow
pina - how crap of them... still keep that number on re-dial and we'll all send labour vibes to those other mummys... stay away from the spicy food though!!! sound stupid that they'll do it if you start naturally but not otherwise? not quite understanding their logic...
I didnt realise that rasberry leaf tea made you constipated either... bugger - what do i do now them? start taking cod liver oil to balance it out? any ideas?
Denny (GCG's stalker ) do you just shove the whole thing up there then? I have heard that before but ????!!!
bobsmum - <<<<< sending baby come out vibes >>>>> (when i do that I think of that bit in finding nemo where all the fish are in the net, just swim down...) know how you feel re being left alone to have your baby, I have a deadline too (1st sodding pregnancies are normally 40+ weeks yet they fancy whipping mine out at 38/39 weeks)
re pineapples - it might be easier to shove a pineapple up your fanjo than reach to do the perenial massage...
Mocat - Hurray!!! much relief that you got through it all ok (and didnt go too mad stuck in hospital!!)
right - I'm off to start a list of things to ask the midwife tomorrow (how do i get baby out before that nasty consultant starts fiddling with my fanjo...)
pina bad luck re. section date - how frustrating. Hope you get a 'cancellation'...
hereby serving eviction notice on bobsmum's bump... Out with you!
Come on baby! DP is making curry tonight... and I had a cuddle with my neighbour's not-exactly-a-newborn-any-more-but-close-enough 5 month old... been for a walk... scrubbed fireplace on hands & knees... I will wait until the randomised controlled trial has been published before putting any pineapples up my fanjo tho', that seems a bit extreme
well done for starting the new thread (in between shags and shows ). Very excited for you - hopefully things will kick off very soon. I'm pretty sure sex is still OK after the show, but not if your waters break. So keep at it! It seems to be doing the trick so far...
pina - sorry to hear that you weren't given a slot for your c-section but I totally agree that, if you go into labour first, you'll know that your baby is ready to come into the world. I reckon you should just call them as soon as you get the vaguest twinges to give yourself as little labour time as possible. Good luck with it and glad that you did sort of get what you wanted (I suppose they could have said no altogether).
bobsmum - sending mega natural birth vibes your way. I know how hard it is feeling like you're up against a birth deadline. I was desperate to go into labour naturally before my induction date last time. Sadly, it wasn't to be, but it was at 38 weeks so it was a bit of a long shot! Have you looked at the NICE guidelines on Vbac? They might have some info on whether or not an induction is a total no no.
Mocat - CONGRATULATIONS and glad everything went well. You must be so relieved that your hospital stay is finally over and that your bubba arrived safe and sound. You've taken my favourite boy name, by the way .
Many thanks to everyone for sympathy re dh argument. We spoke on the phone earlier and managed to be a bit more normal with eachother. We'll have a proper chat tonight (after the bleedin' Champions League ) and hopefully that'll be the end of it.
Just forked out £30 in Hennes for two new pairs of maternity trousers. Grrr. So gutted I've had to buy more with only 4 weeks to go but I have been down to one pair in the last few days as my under the bump ones have become too uncomfortable to consider. Oh well. I'll have to start a career on ebay once this is all over.
You know what, we are all laughing at the thought of sticking pineapples up our fanjos due to the size of pineapples, but if you really think about it, they are probably smaller than most babies that we manage to push out the other way.........
Otter1980 Glad you found the thread, hopefully that means the others will too. There wasn't even room on the old one for me to link it. Oh, and I don't mind Denny being my stalker, she has been one of my very BF's for 15 years . I stalk her on her 'due april' thread too, it saves us having to ring each other cos we just see what we are up to on MN!!!! (she found out about Robonan dying by reading it on our thread . I had sent her a text but she hadn't checked her phone ).

hi all just to let you know that isla willow was born on the 26th at 2.04pm she is a whopper at 8 pounds 3 ounces and has a gorgeous head of brown hair. we can't stop looking at her! bit sore from the c- section, but happy to be home as i landed next to a woman who snored so loud that i could feel my bed vibrating the nurses and doctors were amazing though and very impressed with the care we received. just got to cope with all the saggy bits now!
pregnabrain i really really need new trousers too, but at 39 weeks i just cant do it, dh would kill me lol, at least i have one pair that fit ok - i just look like a clown in them tho! glad things are getting back to normal with dh and hope you sort things our further tonight (after the footy! didnt know it was on - i wodnered why dh was being nice to me!)
iarelCONGRATULATIONS on the birth of Isla Willow, what a beautiful name! Glad your home and doing well, i will add you to the stats list!

feeling a bit miffed as I have just been surfing the net and apparently the show isn't such a big deal, it could still be weeks before labour starts and given that I have had no other symptoms at all since, sounds like I should NOT be getting excited at all .
pina - i have some arnica tablets, i opened them and took 2 - i didn't tear or anything! [jbr preens] - do you want them? i can send them to you - send me your address on fb!
also - anyone want some raspberry leaf tea capsules? again, i opened them and took about 2, then was raced into hospital and induced! if you want them, email me at gerrygray [at] gmail.com
Yeah to GCG for starting a new thread - I had a moment of panic when I realised I couldn't post on the other one!!! Sorry to hear the show might not be the sign you were waiting for - but it'll come!!
iarel Congratulations - that's a lovely name!
Bobsmm Thanks!! I've heard similar stories about Watford! I must admit, I've had good care at St. Thomas'
pregnabrain Glad you and DH are a bit warmer with each other - sorry to hear about you having to get new trousers... I'm pretty determined not to buy anymore maternity gear now (Fingers crossed!)
Mocat Congratulations!!!!
otter Yes, I am still at work!! Hope you get that list sorted!!! No one has had any need to look at my bits yet, and I'm really hoping to keep it that way!!
GCG didnt casserole get a show, and she has gone into labour.. unless im thinking of the wrong person here? apologies if so to whoever i have got confused about!
JBR thats really kind of you hun but ive already got some, thanks very much for the offer tho! i dont know if anyone else might want to get them off you tho?
Thanks for all your best wishes for the funeral. It went reasonably well although the description the humanist guy (who was leading the service) gave of DH's uncle was pretty much unrecognisable to everyone! He was going on and on about how much this guy will be missed - when in fact he was actually quite a nasty piece of work from all accounts (sorry to speak ill of the dead - I didn't know him personally but this is what his kids and family members thought of him). Just as an illustration, when his wife was in hard labour, he refused to take her to the hospital, refused to give her money so she could get a bus, and so she walked a couple of miles from her home to the hospital by herself - and gave birth within 30 minutes of being there - poor woman. I think the only distraught people there were his drinking buddies. Still, at least the sun was shining - there's nothing worse than going to a funeral when it's cold and peeing down.
PMSL at all the pineapple antics - until GCG reminded me of the size of a baby compared to a pineapple . I guess the only positive difference is that the baby isn't quite as prickly...
Huge congratualtions to Mocat and iarel on the arrival of their healthy babies. Come on Bobsmum baby - time to get this show on the road.
Pregnabrain - hope you have a good conversation with your DH tonight.
GCG I had a show two weeks before having DD last time - you probably didn't want to know that - sorry!
I'm seeing the MW tomorrow re: high BP, which has sort of stabilised at a slightly lower level, so my home birth is hopefully back on the cards, otherwise they want to give me a cervical sweep in two weeks time - and there's no way I'm letting them do that.
I'm currently testing out sod's law - we have practically no food left in the house and I can't get out to the shops until Wednesday when I plan to do a big monthly shop - what are my chances of going into labour before then?! Better make sure my list is up to date so I can send someone else out to get it instead.
Surely that means I'm entitled to the next baby????
Pretty please?????
MIL has to head off tomorrow. She's done loads to keep things ticking over, but were just getting to the nerves fraying time now. I think 2 weeks is the max amount of time to spend with in laws. Especially when there's no cute newborn to distract from annoying little habits. Although ds and dd are pretty damn cute even if I do say so mysefl
DD's not been too good these last couple of days - she's been up 4/5 times in the night. She says she's banged her head, but in the day she says her ear is sore. If we have another bad night I'll take her to the GP tomorrow.
Had lots of sympathy at playgroup today, when I waddled in and lots of tea and biscuits
No twinges At All. If I could move more than a couple of inches I would go for a big long walk or something. Just ate loads of Xmas pudding and custard instead - energy food!
Off to bed. Will see if dh can help things along , but will need industrial strength hoist to manouvre me into any kind of useful posistion
Congrats iarel! Love the name too. Hope you feel less sore soon.
blobsmummy - glad funeral was bearable. It's always odd hearing a stranger talking about the 'dear departed', never mind giving what seems like such a wrong impression. I guess like you say, everyone is worried about 'speaking ill of the dead' - maybe they go too far in the other direction sometimes!
bobsmum hope DD feels better today. You sound like you've done brilliantly surviving 2 weeks of MIL at this stage - I'm even finding it quite hard having my mum around.
GCG re. show - yes it might not mean that everything will kick off immediately, but it surely means that your body is getting ready, so that's got to be a good thing. Chin up
Virtual bar is now stocking vindaloo for all the 'bring it on' crowd...
I felt very uncomfortable walking round yesterday, then very silly, shaky and excitable all evening with hundreds of trips to the loo. Had lots of uncomfortable BH which didn't stop immediately when I got into bed - in fact one of them was strong enough to wake me up! - all settled down again now but I'm feeling quite optimistic that things are gradually getting underway as this is very similar to what happened with DS. it took a couple more days with DS from this point but hoping my body will go 'Right! I remember this! Let's get on with it!'
I've missed quite a lot with everything that's been going on lately. Good to see some more babies have been born!
I have an appointment with the consultant on Thursday to see about being induced at 39/40 weeks as my SPD is so bad now and I can't sleep for it at all. However, spoke to a midwife who said that it's not a good idea to get baby out at 40 weeks as it might not be ready... is that true? He's supposedly 7lb 11oz already.
For those who don't know, my sister had two baby girls yesterday (at 28 weeks) called Gretta and Honor. They are doing very well, as is she.
Hope more babies are born soon (without us all having to turn to pineapple fanjo poking).
I have to say i did have a bit of a panic when i tried to post on the old thread and found i couldn't !
Pina Sorry to hear that they haven't been able to give you a definite date that's closer to your EDD. You must just feel like your in limbo! Massive hugs to you babe and loads of sympathy on the not coping with pregnancy issues!!! If you lived a bit closer id invite you round for tea and chocolate cake and we could have a good moan together! xxx
Bobsmum Huge Huge out you come baby vibes going out to you. xx
GCG Get pomping it sound like its totally safe as long as your waters haven't broken !!
Blobsmummy i went and did my weekly tesco's shop when i was in very early labour with DD !! but im not sure i will venture out this time round as hopefully it will all happen a lot faster this time !!(20hrs with DD)
Mocat/Iarel congratulation on the arrival or Alex and of Isla Willow can i just say great choice on the middle name Iarel as my DD first name is Willow!!!
Well im feeling OK today and have got some stuff planed to keep me busy!
But......I'm really staring to feel like im going to be the last man standing !!! im not even due till the 24th and then thinking that it could be 2 wks after that is just doesnt bare thinking about!!!!
JBR- I'm glad you said that, it puts it into perspective doesn't it? I think he'll be fine to come out at 40 weeks considering by then I'll barely be able to walk. Let's hope the consultant decides to induce.
Could I just say a really big thank you to everyone who's left msgs on my other thread, it's very much appreciated. And an extra big thank you to Pina.
GCG-LOL at pineapple comparison - although slightly scared at the propect
iarel - Congratulations
mumblesmummy - Im pleased to hear the twins are doing OK. I have a consultant appointment today. (I thought it was yesterday and turne up only to be tld otherwise). Really gonna lay it on thick with the SPD and see if I can get induced.
Well Not having a good day today. DD2 had the mother of all tantrums on the way home from school today and was throwing herslef on the floor. I had pushchair which she kept wriggling out of and she wouldn't walk. Just wanted me to carry her which obviously I couldn't do. Sooo many mums tried to get envolved even though I was as calm as anything. (well trying to be). One mum kerb crawled me to be nosy so I ended up making a comment to her feel ever so embarrassed now
Came hom and cried at which point DD2 stopped crying and wrapped her arms round me.
No news here . Had my sister come and stay last night 'just in case' (she would rather do that than be woken at 3am and have to drive half hr to us). I had a couple of period type pains/BHC's in the night, but nothing again this morning. I was so excited yesterday when I got my show, now I just feel back to square one . I know it's silly, I haven't even reached my due date yet (big sympathy to bobsmum and sending lots of 'come out baby' vibes to you!!!!!)
mumblesmummy so glad to hear your sisters twins are doing well, what a relief for you, and it sounds as if your Nana is on the mend too, last time I looked. I can't understand them saying to you that the baby 'might not be ready' at 40 or even 39 weeks???????? How ridiculous.
Right, I have a friend coming with her kids for lunch, then midwife, then something else to cure the boredom, maybe a trip to the shops with DH and DD.....
Congratulations to Iarel and Mocat on the birth of your babies.
Nice to see you Mumblesmummy- sorry you are having such a hard time at the moment, hopefully thursday brings good news. I don't think you need to worry about baby being induced early, one or two weeks should have no problem. As you can see by all the babies been born early and all seem to be thriving. And congratulations on your baby nieces.
Blobsmummy: Glad your bp is settling, I don't know how you are managing to go back and forward to hospital with DD.
Bobsmum: I hope you are next-it isn't fair is it!!!!!!!!!!!
I hope Pazza and Casserole are doing well with there new arrivals. Look forward to hearing there announcements.
Only one more day and then the official due in May babies can arrive.
I have spent the morning tidying- definetley no nesting feeling though, just couldn't bear to look at the mess anymore.
horseshoe sounds like you had a tough time this morning, poor you, the last thing you need at this stage. Hope DD behaves herself from now on. And don't worry about the comment you made to the other mum, serves her right for being such a nosey cow!!!
iarel - congratulations!!! hope the soreness eases soon enough (although you have a gorgeous baby to make up for it!!)
GCG - i had a show last week, didnt want to say anythig in case you were going to have something happen... I rung the hospital all excited and they told me it could be weeks. stuck in bloody limbo...
JBR - no tears? !!
YCBS - i too am planning on my bits staying private until baby wants out..
blobsmummy - glas to hear that it wasnt too bad, fingers crossed for the sods law method and very good news re blood pressure & home birth!! yay!
eviction notice to bobsmum's baby!! maybe baby will show as soon as you lose the help that MIL has been given (following blobsmummy's law of sod method..) fingers crossed anyway...
OOOOOOOOOO!!!! asics, that sounds promising, also can have some of that vindaloo over here?
mummblesmummy - according to medical textbooks/internet/my midwifes your baby is full term from 37 weeks and would require no special care (unless other complications) Our consultant is very keen to get our baby induced out at 38 weeks (GD). so dont worry, although i dont like my consultant very much I do know that his priority is mine and baby's health. good new re your sisters babies and her doing well. xx
sweetbean - dont worry, if you are the last one standing we'll come in and keep you company
DH has spent all pregnancy moaning about how long it is etc and how he wants baby out, last night he said that he thought in about 2 weeks he'd be ready [hmn] I was in the middle of a really painful BH contraction at the time. i gave him the look of death...
Show this morning - lots and lots of gunk (TMI!) and big deep contractions every 10/15 mins!!!!
I'm pacing the floor and drinking tea.
Just got back from the GP - dd has ear infection. So I'm breathing deeply through contractions while trying to give MIL instructions on antibiotic dosage
Dh coming home as I type - should be here by 12 ish.
I might have a baby sooooooooon
Saw m/w in passing while I was in the surgery and she listened to baby - very happy baby She said relaxing bath and lots of walking.
Driving while contracting is not recommended thoguh - luckily there are lots of laybys b/w my house and surgery!
I'm gonna have a baby! I'm gonna have a baby!!!!
Will keep you posted if it all stops - It Had Better Not!!!!
So many babies and it's not even the right month yet!
I have been given a very attractive girdle maternity belt by the physio to ease the downward pressure. It is helping a bit. She's also given me about 6ft of tubigrip that I can pull on like an enormous sock. I haven't actually tried that yet. Not sure what I can wear over it! I could use it for Egyptian mummy jokes for the DCs amusement?
DD2 and I have just unearthed a box with '0-18 months Boy' written on it. Loads of clothes. But not much in the way of newborn. So no idea what I've done with those. We sorted them out and stuck some in the washing machine.
I have also remembered that I need to pack a hospital bag in case I don't get my homebirth. Talk about slack.
Am feeling a bit less stressed today! Had a fairly good nights sleep last night which was very welcome! Thanks for all the encouragement, its starting to sink in now that at least I know two weeks is the longest I will have to wait!
Bobsmum - HURRAY!!!! Hope your labour is speedy and easy! Keep us posted, cant wait to hear your news! And glad you managed to catch your MIL before she drove off! Talk about timing!!! And hope your DDs ear infection clears up asap
Kanga yes, im completely thick but what are EPO caps?!
Blobsmummy glad your BP seem to have stabilised, I hope you can get the homebirth that you want!
Asicsgirl Oooh sounds promising, fingers crossed things kick off for you soon!
Mumblesmummy Im so glad your nieces are doing well, what beautiful names, I hope they continue to do well and get stronger each day. I would not take any notice of that daft midwife, for a start if he is 7lbs+ already thats a great weight already, and as the others have said full term is from 37 weeks anyway, and think of all the little ones born on here so early, they are all fine and home! Try not to worry yourself, your baby will be absolutely fine im sure!
Sweetbean Ooh I would of loved to come round for tea and choccy cake lol, thanks! Dont worry about being the last man standing, I will still come back and keep you company! And you never know, you might start early anyway, it seems to be a theme on this thread (well apart from poor Bobsmum !)
Horseshoe How did your consultant appointment go, have they suggested being indced? Sorry you had such a bad morning, dont worry about your comment to the other mum, sounded like she deserved it anyway! Bless your dd cuddling you when you were upset, mine just looked at me in disgust when i cried infront of her the other week
GCG sounds like you have yet another busy day ahead of you, hope it works in tempting fate for you!
Otter Grrrr at your DH !! I think I would of slapped mine across the head if he had come out with that!!
Duchess Hope you manage to find your newborn stuff!! Im more or less organised but still keep thinking of last minute things that need doing/buying!!
right well not sure what to do with myself now, im very tired could do with a lie down but also need to tidy up in readiness for my little luxury pregnancy treat which are coming tomorrow (the cleaners i borrowed fom my gran ) - or as DH calls them "stop it and tidy up"
Pina Glad that you are feeling a bit more positive today!! xx
Mummbles glad that things are finally starting to look up for you xx
Thanks to all who said that they will keep me company while i wait and wait and wait for this baby to arrive i would be soo lonely without you all to help me pass the time !! xx
Hooray for Bobsmum!!! I'm so thrilled for you. It must have been all our eviction vibes coming your way .
Many congratulations to Iarel as well. Isla is a very pretty name.
We've got an ENORMOUS pineapple sitting in our kitchen and, after all this fanjo talk, I can't even look at it without my eyes watering .
mumblesmummy - am really shocked at your midwife saying that baby might not be ready at 40 weeks. Sounds like she's in need of some serious retraining.
No big chat with dh last night but got a nice goodnight kiss and hug so things seem to be ok again. Phew.
anyone heard anything from Pazza? she'll be all cuddled up with her baby!!
duchess - lol re giant tubigrip, have an image of you in it looking like a snake that swallowed a beachball!! I am organised... but only because i've had a lot of time and i worry...
Pina - have a nap!!! tidying can wait... will get my revenge on DP, he forgets that I will soon not be pregnant and all whale/godzilla etc comments have been noted...
Pregnabrain - good to hear you and DH are better. you still eying that pineapple?
im so of all the babies!!... i just saw my midwife and apparently Rasberry leaf tea can can also help get things going/ continue stuff.. am now going to commence drinking it by the bucketload (partly to spite DP...) head is engaged though... GCG what was Denny saying about EPO?
Otter I can totally sympathise - DH asked me if I was planning to lose weight once the baby is here!!! I've only put on a stone!!! (I do feel like a whale though!!)
Anyway, I need some advice, Ladiiiiessss........ What exactly is a show? (sorry, green as cabbage first time mum!!) I think I just had one, but, TBH, I'm not really sure and it's not really the sort of thing I can ask in the office!!!!
AM I the only one who wants bubba to stay just where he is???? He's got another 3 weeks of cooking to do before we're ready for the meeting and greeting!!!!!
Also, Dh has decided he no longer likes our chosen name - so we've got to decide on another one pronto!!!!
youcannot in plainest English, the mucus plug or show is like a thick lump of snot, it's sometimes a whitish colour or a bit pink or even with an obvious red bloody bit in it. It can be quite small, ie. teaspoon size or almost a handful (my sisters apparently)!
pina glad you got some sleep. Don't overdo the tidying up... enjoy the cleaners!
mumblesmummy so glad your situation is improving. x
duchess the tubigrip sounds sexy maybe you could team it with big shoulder pads and high heels for an 80's body-con look...
Know what you mean about the newborn stuff, I don't know where ours has gone either! I think DS just grew incredibly fast. I remember the 0-3 months stuff being HUGE on him and going out and buying smaller stuff, but I think it was literally a matter of days... so maybe we just didn't have that much of it anyway. I also remember a lot of inexpertly fixed nappies and poo everywhere, so maybe the stuff just got chucked!
YCBS for the show! and at your DH for changing his mind about the name... We had a name lined up for DS for ages, then changed our minds for about a week almost at the end, then changed them back again! It's a difficult decision!
No huge progress here, but I'm happy with that. Been for lots of walks today, feeling fine, still having BH/ prelabour contractions on and off which are pretty uncomfortable but not awful yet. My mum is picking DS up from nursery - for the practice! - and she and stepdad are going out for a meal tonight so DP and I will have the evening to ourselves
YCBS ooh a show!!! they are coming out all over the place on this thread this week!!! haha - altho you dont want things to happen just yet so i will send you some stay put vibes!!!! i dont think your the only one who isnt quite ready for the baby to make its appearance, but i would say maybe in the minority!
pregnabrain LOL at the pineapple in your kitchen! I was in M&S today and saw one of those little packs of bitesize pineapple chunks and I said outloud by accident "now that would be more managable!" DH was like "Eh???" glad things are better with your dh!
OK, so those of you that are worrying about how much weight you have put on - i am about to tell you something that may make you feel a bit better about yourselves - i finally bit the bullet today when i got out the shower and decided to weigh myself - i have been putting it off as i knew it wasnt going to be pleasant, but nothing could prepare me for discovering i have put on fiveandahalfstone that is seriously unhealthy and im sooo disgusted with myself, i do put weight on easily, and i had lost about 4 stone before getting pregnant - was also on some weight loss tablets from the GP and was aware that it would be even easier to put weight on when i stopped them, but still! OH MY GOD!!!!!!!!!!! im only 5 foot tall! And i now weigh just under double my "ideal" weight

Well I was feeling quite and earlier as I saw the MW at 1pm, all ready for her to give me a 'sweep', but when I asked she said she couldn't, i.e. wasn't allowed, until I am 7 days overdue !!! She said it's a new thing, I don't know if it's local policy, cos I know lots of people who have had a sweep before their due date. I have still had NOTHING at all since my show yesterday, and the MW also confirmed that it doesn't really mean much, cos it could still be weeks . I felt so disheartened when I came out, I managed not to but I just felt like crying (frustration more than anything). Now I know that I am being completely unreasonable as I haven't even reached my due date yet, but I suppose I am finding it hard cos DD was early. I feel so ready for this baby. The thought of another 2 weeks+ wait is way to depressing. I know this is selfish as loads of women go overdue, but I just felt really down.
Anyway, I decided to go to the shops for some retail therapy. DH was painting and DD asleep. I got some shoes in the sale, a nail varnish, some night cream, some little pressies for DD 'from the baby' (just hairclips and bracelets and a book) and some birthday presents for upcoming May birthdays. I feel a lot better now, and I've had some lovely texts from my friends telling me to make the most of my time with DH and DD while I can, and one friend said 'at the end of the day, when baby comes all you will get is sleepless nights and sore tits so make the most of it!!' which really made me laugh. I'm sorry to wallow in such stupid self pity. I genuinely feel better and more positive now, and I know I am being very unreasonable to feel like this at this stage. The days just seem to drag cos I can't do much. Would love to be swimming everyday but can't even do that cos of chlorine allergy .
duchess I assume you realise the tubigrip is to be folded over and not worn as a sock ???!!! It should stretch from just below your fanjo to top of your bump.
bobsmum Very excited for you, you really deserve your bubba now as you are already overdue. Keep us posted!!
Otter1980 Denny was saying that EPO tablets can apparently be inserted up the fanjo to help ripen the cervix. I have no medical background to this claim so I would do it at your peril.
YCBS yay for your show too, maybe we need a showgirls thread!!!!!! LOL!!
asicsgirl Hope you have a lovely evening with DP .
pinacolada I can totally understand you being worried about your weight gain, but Denny put on 5.5 stone with her DS (2 yrs ago). She was a size 8 when she got PG and at full term weighed more than her 6 ft DH (over 15 stone!!!!). She lost a really significant amount within about 10 day of giving birth, a lot of it was fluid, so maybe you are the same. I'm sure if she is reading this she may even pop up and tell you how much she lost so quickly. Don't worry luvvie.
Right, DH has his BF over to watch the champions league game, so I think that leaves me with Gok Wan....
Oh, and I checked with MW, definitely OK to have sex once you have had your show.....that should help kill some time .
My next MW appt is 10th May ! Seems so long away, when MW will do a sweep.
Also, just bought OK magazine (not something I normally do but I am so bored) and saw that bloody Kerry Katona has had her baby, she wasn't due til 14th May....how dare she jump the queue!!!! LOL!!
GCG LOL about Kerry Katona, I was fuming when I heard and said exactly the samE, i personally think she is a muppet and so she does nt deserve to have had her baby early its not fair!! dont feel bad about the way your feeling, I felt sure this baby would come early and am really gutted she hasnt, I keep moaning about it then thinking, well she isnt even due yet i suppose so I should be quiet, so I know where your coming from, esp as you had your dd by now, so your bound to feel like this! Im sure it will happen really soon, try and keep yourself busy (ha, as if you need encouraging with that one!!!!! ) Cant belive that about the sweep. i wonder if mine will still give me one tomorrow - altho I have a feeling she will not as she will think I should try to hold on for my section date Thats good to know Denny managed to lose the weight, I hope a lot is fluid - it took me soo long to lose weight for my wedding and I was determined not to put it back on when I got pregnant, but I just like fatty things too much and have no self control...
Speaking of my weight gain, does anyone know if gaining weight could be related to the size of the baby - ie could the fact I have a big baby be my fault for eating so much?!!and if so will this cause problems for the babies health? i really hope not!!
pina just to put your mind at rest i put on 5 stone with ds1 and lost 3.5 of it within about a week and a half - a lot of it was water! and that weight was after i had delivered, and ds1 only weighed 3lb2
anyway not sure i'm allowed on here still! back to the other side
sorry to ignore everyone else but just a quick one for you pina, from resident expert on baby size/ eating/ not being able to eat (cursed GD...)
if you have eated shed-loads of sugar and carbs (and i really mean LOADS) then you could have a particularly large baby as your body cant produce enough insulin to regulate it, therefore it will cross the placenta to your baby and baby will store the sugar as fat. but to be honest you will be more likely to be affected by what you/ family etc traditionally weight and when the baby comes out (as in last few weeks baby really puts down brown fat) so if you run to term/term+ then your baby is likely to be bigger. If you have had problems with insulin production it is likely to have been in last trimester (gestational diabeties) this means that your baby will need to have blood sugars checked about 2 hours after birth. any problems that could arise are basically got rid of by breastfeeding - so i would recomend that. You could experience some distress (blood sugars too high due to stress in labour but as I have diagnosed GD and have been told its extremely unlikely I will have a problem i doubt you will)
as you havent has any positive diabetic results I would say dont worry - if it was a problem it would have been picked up on in your urine/ blood tests. Even if you did have undiagnoised GD its not too much to worry about. The major problem would occur if you had undiagnoised diabeties throughout the pregnancy - believe me that would have been spotted!!
Pina My consultant doesn't seem to think there is a link between weight gain and baby size (I was quite worried because even later on in my pregnancy, I just didn't 'show' much - loads of people didn't believe I was pregnant and those that did, didn't think I was as far gone as I actually was!
I've also heard that lots of weight drops off just after the birth! I know loads of people who've put on that amount of weight, lost it again straight afterwards and haven't had any issues whatsoever!
GCG LOL at KK!! I am pleased because DH was adamant he was not calling his son the same name she used, so at least I know Max is out of the question!
I'm getting a little bit worried here. Not due until 23rd May, but there is def. something going on! I have a very active baby here tonight and am getting strange sensations in my lower abdomen, the best way I can describe it is pressure just above my 'lady area' (sorry, even here I find it hard to talk about fanjos - I told you catholics have a lot of guilt!!!) It's not uncomfortable, but it's definitely there - thought I was imagining it at first but it's been happening for 2-3 hours now!!
I'm going to London tomorrow, and no sure whether I should call my consultant and pop in while I'm there.... My next confirmed appt. is Friday - maybe I'm just being a bit OTT??? What do you guys think?
otter thanks for the info, is it possible for the baby to store the sugar as fat even if i dont have GD? to be honest, (this is awful and not on purpose, its just all i seem to be able to eat) i have eaten alot of sugary things during this pregnancy, and i mean a lot - dh is very skinny and finds it really difficult to put weight on, i on the otherhand put weight on easily so its hard to know how that would affect the baby i suppose
YCBS thanks, i hope im one of those people it just drops off! it sounds like maybe your baby pressing his head on your cervix, do you know if it was engaged at your last appointment? if your at all concerned i would see your consultant, after all thats what they are there for! and as your having a planned section you dont want the baby to come early and suprise you! xx
pina EPO - evening primrose oil! heehee Oh and I put on 5 stone with dd and am closely (much to my annoyance) following this time!!! although ppl keep saying my body doesnt actually look like ive put on as much.
mumblesmummy So glad the twins are doing well...I'm sorry for my ignorance but I only lurk on this thread so havent read your other thread...so shall offer ((hugs)) anyway x
gcg I have my sweep booked next week and I will be 39+1 .... not heard about not having sweep til after due date...I know they wouldnt do a sweep til term + 5 with my first
Martha arrived earlier this evening, a very healthy 8lb 13oz. Rather faster than we were expecting, but safely in the hospital. And with only gas'n'air and a TENS for pain relief.
*GCG had a little girl at 4.58 this am, 2 and half hour start to finish. Weighing in at 7lb7oz called Cerys Mary. Sounds like mum and baby both doing v well, Im sure shell be on to give you all the full run down over the next few days.
Pinacolada - just read GCG prev post, with DD1 and 2 i put on 4 stone and 5.5 with DS. With both DD1 and DS i lost 3 stone in 10 days not sure this time as havnt been near a set of scales but feel like ive lost a fair amount - almost in my 'fat' clothes.
bobsmum/bobsdad - congratulations on Martha!!!! how lovely for you both (and not too far over DDay!)
GCG - you didnt need that sweep after all!!! congratulations on little Cerys! thanks for letting us know Denny
Oh god - i think I'll just go paint myself green, im so jealous
pina - all babies will store some as fat, to give you an idea of the amount, when they give you the glucose test they basically give you a bag of icing sugar in water, make you drink it on an empty stomach and test your blood 2 hours later to see how you cope. so its pure sugar not just some sweets/cakes/biscuits... I honestly really wouldnt worry, even if you have put on a load of weight its most likely to be fluid, you have to consider that of the weight you put on only about 30% is baby, the rest is fluid, placenta and extra blood. if baby is big that will probably be because all babies are different, and your baby is basically full term. I've been told by consultants/midwives/dieticians that people am not to expect to return back to pre pregnancy size for 6/9 months. I was carrying some extra weight before the pregnancy so I've been told to be careful with my diet when baby out (mainly dont go and eat all the cakes/biscuits/chocolate that I havent eaten during pregnancy...) if you are really worried cut back on the cakes/sugar now, this is when your baby will be putting on most of the weight
Hi everyone, haven't read the thread lately I hope you're all well and that bobsmum's baby is on his/her way! Congrats to those who've had babies, I've lost track and haven't been on for a while. Just updating this as I realised I put Nico's weight in wrong as I converted it from kilos 2,160 and added it up wrong.

Many congratulations to Bobsmum and GCG. How wonderful. And such pretty names. We seem to have a bit of a girl thing going on here in May 08. Who's going to balance it out??
Am desperate not to wish these last few weeks away but so of all these babies. I can't wait to meet my bundle too!
Pina - try not to worry about the weight thing. Women are all different, and put different amounts of weight on in the nine months. It sounds like most of it will fall off in the first couple of weeks anyway, especially if you breastfeed.
Cracked open that pineapple this morning. Felt no temptation whatsoever to stick it where the sun don't shine.
asicsgirl - spluttered my tea all over my keyboard at the idea of 80s body con outfit for 8-month pregnant woman. Now that would be brave.
YCBS - I'd go to the consultant if I were in your position. No harm in getting his/her opinion. Good luck.
Ok so DD has just gone of with the outlaws and will be going till 3.30. I have a MW appointment at 1.00 but uther than that i ahve nothing else to do today and im BOARD already !!!!
sweetbean, i had plans to go into town but Isla thinks otherwise so while i feed her i am reading this ace website about bf'ing. It's almost as good as mumsnet! i'm also planning on watching My name is Earl on 4od and Doctor Who on iPlayer today! you could, if you fancy being organised, set up your onoine shopping with mySupermarket where it compares Asda/Tesco etc and suggests ways to save. I hate shopping so am using Isla for an excuse to do it online. Shopping codes often has free delivery for Tescos. of course, there's always the email, facebook, mumsnet, ebay, etsy a
