Congrats munchkinmum and welcome to Cameronsmile
We need his weight!
(and a birth story but I'll give you a day or two to write that upwink)

MW has just been and Alex has lost 600g/21 ounces shock
If I didnt know he was thriving I'd be worried sick, thankfully he has plenty of dirty/wet nappies, is feeding brilliantly and is really happy and alert when not feeding so I know it's not an issue, also mw isnt one of those Evil Health Visitor types so she agreed with me.

<waits for HV's to say she needs to top up with formula>
<cackles maniacally>

Hi

We now have 2 munchkins residing in our household!

Cameron was born at 5.22pm pm friday afternoon. Was very painful in the later stages but I got what I always wanted, a fabulous midwife and a go in the pool for my much wanted water birth. Second stage of labour was only 7 minutes long and was the most overwhelming experience ever!

Having a tough time with bf'ing but I'm bloody determined to do it this time so fingers crossed and lansinoh at the ready!

Hi to all on the thread!

Yes dig the tens out you can use it on its continual settings to help and just use the boost if back pain increases with BH/Cx. I had back to back labour with DS and found the tens really helpful for the back pain. If youve got a 3 hour journey can you take heat pack in with you and some paracteamol as well?

At 5.50 this am scamp was still in labour and posting on childbirth thread, we wait eagerly..............

sorry xmaspixie - I was 2 weeks over last time and remember how it felt to be the last pregnant person on the planet - likelihood this is a false start and i'll still be here in 3 weeks time grin

Denny - have been on birthing ball and all fours for days and the little tike still hasn't shifted. MW says with 2nd babies they can easily turn during labour anyway? (altho not making my back ache any better just now)

Would a TENS machine help at all do you think? have already packed the car and it's near the bottom but would rather get it out now than endure this backache for a 3 hr journey...

Morning everyone!! Oooh I wonder if Scamp has had her baby!??!! And Moomin, backache can be a sign of early labour, esp if baby is back to back.

Boo HOO!!! You lot are all queue jumping! I was due 2 days ago (stamps foot) it's NOT FAIR!!! (Goes to sit in wating corner with Ellie and Northeastmummy). envy
Contact the poster Contact mumsnet about this post By Denny185 on Sun 20-Apr-08 09:31:43
Labour can start as back pain but if you can get in a position that will ease it prob not. If its LO sitting back to back try getting onto hands and knees/leaning on ball to try and shift its weight forward and off your back.

Morning all - have had back ache all yesterday evening and this morning - taken some paracetemol and had hot water bottle on - don't know if it's just cos baby is back to back - could it be more? (never got started by myself last time so no idea what to expect!)

having BH every 15 mins or so (nothing unusual there) but they are not painful - it's the bloody back ache!! argghhhhhhh!

oh and thinking about it would be best if we could get DD to bed before thinking about going to hospital so it is definitely better that they don't establish really certainly yet!
Contact the poster See this person's profile Contact mumsnet about this post By Scampmum on Sat 19-Apr-08 18:02:34
yes, thanks! It is weird. I am still having them, they're just really not very painful, but not Braxton Hicks either. Maybe it's just the Scamp 'so-rock-hard-I-don't-wince-getting-my-armpits-waxed' Mum factor...

am using the contraction timer at DH's request anyway. Last one was 24 seconds but really not that painful. I think I'm a bit thrown by the fact that my last labour seemed to establish really quickly (although I can't find the book I wrote it in, I found a DH response to an email 2 hours after first ctx saying 'every 15 mins for 10-40 seconds) and I'm already nearly two hours after the first one and they're nothing like that regular, or painful.

Will keep you all posted, anyway! May get boring after a few days...

Yeah! So exciting. MASSIVE CONGRATS on the breastfeeding, absolutely delighted for you and just welled up (again) - blame the pregnancy hormones. Can't wait to see pics of Millie. Brilliant that you got your homebirth and posted within 15 hours!

DD's real birthday today, so far she has called the police hmm who came to our door whilst we were at the neighbours' (our friends who just moved in), and catapulted herself (at their house) over the front of her wheelybug mouse, giving herself a fat nose, a fat lip and potentially two black eyes. She's OK and stopped crying after about five mins so we don't think we need to go to hospital. The police failed to notice when she waved at them through the window, but it's great timing for the midwives/health visitors! 'So, how are you feeling about parenting... good god, what have you done to that child?'

VS, Alex is gorgeous, he has a lovely round head!
Peachy, just wondering if I have SPD? I feel like I have been doing a thousand inner thigh exercises, have difficulty lifting my legs e.g getting into the car or on the stairs and it's worse if I've been sitting down? I did ask my obs about it last week and he said something about softening ligaments but isn't that what SPD is?

I am nervous about that too, Denny - it was so hard looking after her today (think she's a bit poorly, was grizzling all day and only wanted to sit on my lap and be read stories - why is it that they talk ALL THE TIME except to tell you what is wrong?) and I haven't even had the baby! YIKES.

I won't really cross my legs to stop the baby coming out tomorrow. Having wanted to be in labour all day, I'm now hoping not to have a contraction as I'm too tired and fancy a good night's sleep.

shock hes had to go back so quickly, is it ok with looking after DS and LO? Think thats what Im going to struggle with the most, entertaining DS whilst DD2 feeds for so long - theres only so long you can keep him amused with toys on the floor B4 he wants to get on my lap as well.

Bath is nearly run and then bed is calling so will say goodnight and catch up again soon.

VS, he's beautiful! and HUGE! Hope all the pain is getting better.

GO SCORPIO GO! I just got a bit teary about the thought of her at home in Cornwall giving birth! Expecting her to post tonight... is that a bit ambitious?

Big congrats ParanoidMummy - will have to keep checking the thread (as if I don't usually hmm) as we're owed so many birth stories now!

Nothing to report here - dreamt was having the baby today all last night and woke up convinced this was it, but nothing. Now have to hold off for tomorrow as it's DD's real birthday! Have had niggly pains all day and I do definitely feel that it's closer, but is that really saying anything beyond the fact that time is passing?

DP has been back at work since this yesterday, he only had two full days off, he has had half days for the last three weeks though so I've had him home loads.
Back to school monday but he drops DD off and either him or his mum will be picking her up so won't have to do too much thankfully.

Glad it went ok Knitter, I ve got my first day next Wed, not looking forward to it even though have been doing breakfast/wash/dress/hair/school run and been getting there on time its still nice to know I could wake him up if needed (hes been doing the first part of the night while I sleep in case your wondering why hes still in bed). Still will just have to get on with it, need to start getting back out to toddler groups as well at some stage as poor DS is getting a bit bored, were off to friends for coffee Mon am so hell have some play mates then but just a bit blush to BF out at the mo as still a 2 handed job to get her to latch on properly, still it will come im sure.

On a grin note DH had his cons appointment today to get his vasectomy, only waiting 1 week and they phoned with a cancellation, lets hope the op comes round just as quickly, really dont think Id cope with 4 (hats off peachy and chipmonkey)

Congratulations to VS and PM! VS, wow, he's gorgeous.

****FOR THE ATTENTION OF PFJ**************

The silly easter bunny has dropped something off at my house by mistake. Apparently she had a couple of bags of mini eggs left over, and had heard you were feeling a bit fed up with things and thought they might cheer you up seeing as your shop has run out. So can you email your address to me at katiewignall@hotmail.com and I'll pass them on to you grin wink grin wink

I've had my first full day on my own with George today after DH's 2 weeks paternity leave and 2 weeks of my parents coming to help, and it's been lovely. Except the internet's been down all day which has been annoying.

Denny I meant to say when I spoke to the mw earlier she said after a CS your uterus contracts back slower and it's harder which is why it hurts more for a cssad

Congratulations TA

Goodluck scorpio, hope all going well and news to follow v v soon.

VS - yeah to after pains getting easier (def worse with each one, MW did say worse after sections as well, I presume coz of the great gash through the uterus). Should feel so much more comfortable once stiches out on Sun. I had staples this time (prev had running stiches) and could feel little pin prick sensations if fully streched or squashed, think it was a ploy to make me sit and do v little for a few days wink

Peachy keep meaning to ask what does the fennel tea do?

PFJ, if it does all get a bit much you do have my phone number- have done some BF training and didn't find it all easy with ds1 and ds2 so can just listen if thats what needed smile.

What baby needs most is a happy mummy who can give him love and attention, if that is combined with BF then great but if it can't be- c'est la vie. There's plenty more ways you can be a great Mummy.

VS he's gorgeous smile

Afterpains get worse with each child, VS (so says my mother, who had four of us, and I'm sure I've read that on MN too -- also think they were probably worse for me this time round than last time, but then I was doped up on painkillers for several days last time so I couldn't guarantee it).

VS great to see you back grin

willr ead all afterwards, but just popped in to say I have a birth announcement from ToastAddict- baby girl, 6lb 10 oz- born 16th April (I think), still in hospital as not feeding but all well.

Oh and the after pains of the Uterus contracting were horrendous for me too (get worse each time apparently - so deffo no more babies for me), so bad in fact I was throwing up with the pain (and popping paracetomol to try and stop it!) However, didn't last too long (a couple of days) just have to get through them.

Oh VS - he is absolutely FABULOUS! smile

Olivia has 'found her lungs' the last day or so and lurves to try them out every so often... LOL. I keep saying the steroids I was given at 28 weeks to help the babys lungs certainly helped grin. Ah well, doesn't last forever <<TMP says while gazing longingly at her bed>>

ZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzZZZZZZZZZ

Hope all ok

MW ahs just been round actually Denny, thankfully she said I can have my stitches out sunday. Woohoo!
The after pains seem to be easing off but you know if I was a first-time mum and a first time BFer that didn't hate formula as much as I do, at one point in the hospital I would've said fuck the breast give me a bottle, that's how horrid they were sad
I'm sure they weren't this bad with the other twohmm

Hi daftmoo glad your ok, that 6 weeks gone quickly hasnt it.

VS, your back, hes a little bruiser isnt he, there was obviously no problem with his blood supply was there. If we'd reminded you of the pain from the stiches or the after pains then you'd have gone into hiding until you went into labour, and looking at the size of his head he wouldnt have come out in a hurry (and not without some damage). If its any help I will remind you that the pain is better once the stiches come out and the after pains shouldnt take too much lon
