Hi Cyteen - you're just down the road from me, I'm in NOttingham. Congrats on your pg btw!

DS just gone to sleep. Been food shopping tonight and bought some lurverly carte dor ice cream....yummmmm.

Feeling hugely pregnant today. Also got a couple of sharp pains between the top of my belly button and below my rib cage. I figured its my muscles separating there! Can also feel baby's head/arse sticking up on my right hand side, above the level of my belly button (ds did this too).

Was trying to catch up with all the posts and ended up missing 2 pages for some reason!! Hi to cyteen and lucamom! And yay on the new thread title!!!

I'm good dizzy, how are things with you?

Karney, I get a stitch whenever I sneeze or stand up too quickly! The girls in my office laugh at me as neither activity is that strenuous – until you’re pregnant! Sometime I feel 80 though, not pregnant!

I just noticed the thing about the Spanx as well. I get stage fright when I try to go to the loo in mine! Even though there’s that little flap thing I can’t get my head around being able to pee without taking them off (sorry if TMI!), so I usually end up taking 15mins in the loos getting undressed and redressed! They are good though. And whoever mentioned that their bra was cutting them in half… mine is too (sorry, I forgot who mentioned it, I get cross-eyed on this thing!) Currently waiting on some very sexy maternity bras being delivered which are soft cup so hoping that they will help.

PMSL at Shazza getting all her workmates fat! I’ve been doing the same to mine, going for a cup of tea (decaf obviously!) and having a biscuit every ½ hour or so and no-one can resist when you offer!

Yay well done lassies.

sad to hear others have same jeans problems. What a pain, I hate seeing people hauling up their knickers all the time and now I'll be at it myself in the supermarket, in the park, in the queue for the photocopier, and everyone will think am vile type when reality not further from truth SOB.

Oh well...

I would murder an orange ice lolly, have only a cup of Earl Grey and a small (purloined) slab of Easter egg to console self with but ice lollies so REFRESHING!

Feeling hugely preg too. Bought Birth and Beyond by Yehudi Gordon, was recommended. Is massive, was 29 euro so better be blimmin enlightening.

Cheers CaptainCaveman Right back at ya! How's life in Nottingham - I'm sure you spend your days dodging gun-toting crims and drug pushers (the media is always honest and accurate, right?) Leicester is pretty much the blandest place on earth, but kind of nice for all that.

I'm not feeling too massive yet, but have noticed that when I stand up from the sofa I sort of push off from my thighs with both hands instead of just hauling myself upright the old-fashioned way. Can't get out of a chair without vocal assistance, but then I never could.

must - stop - eating - cookies

to all those in discomfort, someone has mysteriously stolen my stomach muscles in the last few days leading to an inability to move from any seated/lying position

I need to go to sleep but can't so HERE I AM.

I have the same problem lately with my pants always wanting to fall down. I plan to purchase this or these with my next bit of allowance (I blew all my extra coin on that bathing suit last night on ebay). It's been driving me crazy that I found a great pair of jeans but can't keep the <<bleep>> things on. It's not like I don't have a belly out to...well out there.

Captain sounds like you've got the funny pains I had three weeks ago when I thought I pulled something during yoga. Weird aren't they. Nice new thread too!!

Sazzle I'll upload a family pic this weekend that includes my head but like Dizzy I'm usually the one holding the camera.

Shazza, I got caught up in updating the MN list and forgot to email you. Yes, I got the payment. Isn't paypal sooooo cool. Still no idea where the blanket is. The courier they used doesn't keep their tracking info current. I will let you know as soon as it's delivered.

DD has class pictures in the morning so alarm is set early so I can get her showered and dressed so she'll look like a proper child. WISH ME LUCK!

Welcome too to Lucamom - sorry I didn't say hello yesterday! congrats too on your pg grin

Cyteen - I heard on the radio the other day that London has about 46% of all gun crime, with Birmingham 2nd, so Nottingham are getting a little lazy with their shooters. Apparently, we are now the burglary capital of England. Yay, what an achievement for our lovely City wink. Perhaps the crims are too busy nicking stuff to shoot at each other? Hey ho.

Enormous pg belly from yesterday is a little smaller today - I think its because I wore a dress yesterday so my entire abdomen was 'unfettered'. Usually have trousers to 'hold it in' somewhat!

What are these Spanx of which you speak?? And a Spanx flap??? Are we getting back to pg porno on this thread wink

Hi all, I am glad I found the new thread!

When the list is next updated (thanks TS!), my next appointment date has disappeared. I am having a scan next thursday. I had the anomoly scan already but they couldn't see one thing so I have to go back.

I am feeling hugely pregnant too. I have back and sciatic nerve problems when pregnant and am finding walking anywhere difficult. Although I am very overweight, when not pregnant I can walk for hours so I am finding this very hard. With two young boys, and living in central London, walking is a necessity and I am feeling about 105! Very depressing when you consider that I am only 22 weeks pg!

Hope everyone is well.

IlanaK am right there with you with the baby 3 and feeling 100yrs pg on top of being overweight sad

tis pouring from the heavens today and DD1 decided to get up at the crack of dawn with dh for early shift - needless to say was not best pleased! He's started on a new shift today and it sounds awful, half of them are suspended for one thing and another and he's walked right into the middle of a sh*te storm - his desc not mine!!

sazzlesA it means when you click on my user name you should be able to see my photos, I think anyone can see my profile but only certain people can see my photos - well at least I think thats how it works lol

right ladies, was only signing on to see if Confused&lonely had been on - anyone know anything that I maybe missed during my marathon MN session yesterday? Have to get my college assignment done today so will no doubt be dipping in and out.

Hi all
I too am not quite big enough for my maternity trousers, have taken to folding the top over on one pair, so they sit on my hips better (long maternity top needed to cover bump, natch.) I think there is a fundamental flaw with under-the-bump trousers that way, what are they supposed to cling/hang on to if your hips have melted into a creme egg shape with the bump?
I actually saw my baby boy move this morning in bed, was having some real wellie-wanging kicks to the front so I lifted up my nightie and there was actually a show to watch!
On the subject of food, have just set my new breadmaker to make cinnamon raisin bread, will share a few virtual slices when it's done.
Contact the poster Contact mumsnet about this post By IlanaK on Fri 28-Mar-08 11:00:11
Yummmmm......cinnamon raisin bread sounds so good right now. reserve a slice for me please!

Although I feel quite strong kicks, my extra layers of blubber prevent me from seeing them. I know my husband and kids can't wait for when they can feel the kicks from the outside, but it takes longer for those of us with extra fat!

Very envy of all of you who can feel/see movement...I can't feel anything, even though I know it's leaping about in there like nobody's business (yesterday it kicked the doppler machine every time the midwife found its heartbeat).
Contact the poster See this person's profile Contact mumsnet about this post By Buckets on Fri 28-Mar-08 11:24:37
Yes I've heard they don't like Dopplers, the energy pulse might be uncomfortable for them or something. Another reason why it's not good to buy your own (apart from being able to obsess yourselve grey-haired.)
Contact the poster See this person's profile Contact mumsnet about this post By cyteen on Fri 28-Mar-08 11:42:16
Hehe, yeah, I haven't got a home doppler - don't need the extra worry of not being able to find a heartbeat.

I suspect the reason my baby was kicking the doppler was that it's going to be as much of a bloody nightmare "NO NO NO NO NO" type child as I was. I told my dad about what it had been doing and he laughed for about ten minutes straight...grandparent's revenge or what!
Contact the poster Contact mumsnet about this post By longwayfromhome on Fri 28-Mar-08 11:55:57
My undone trousers with belt to keep them up strategy has failed this morning as now the belt won't do up. Hum.

I don't know if anyone has seen on the news about the farmer's strike that we have here at the moment? Supermarkets are mostly out of meat and milk and so my MIL has started to worry about the baby. (I have put on 4.3kg so far and so I don't think that we need to worry just yet ...)

DH said that the baby was doing some demonstrating of its own this morning as it was kicking away like mad until I gave in and undid my belt ...

Bought my first piece of maternity wear - a pair of jeans. I shall report back on whether they stay up or not once I've worn them in. They need taking up at the bottom, because of course no one makes trousers for the 5'3" woman do they, but I can't be arsed right now.

Also got measured for a bra and am disappointed to see that I can just about fill a D cup - they've hardly changed at all Still need a bra though as am stuck wearing my horrible grey sports bra, so I'm going to have a look on figleaves.

Feel like someone's been beating me with a stick. Leicester town centre is hell.

anyone know her in RL?

No - but maybe she has gone onto old thread?

dizzy - i could see your photo's all along...friend or not i'm afraid! Hence question about your lack of face grin. You have a beautiful family btw and i'm sure they take after you

We are being descended on by a family with 3 kids soon so i may not surface alive for a while hmm

Also just received my linen trousers from Next (only 1 1/2 wks late) and they are v v comfy but the white ones are see through. DH seems to think this is perfectly acceptable but i think they might be on their way back soon. Think i will live in the black ones over summer as they have really comfy stretchy bump bit so hopefully will not have to wander round like VG tugging and hoiking them up

Have a great weekend all
x

Just did a search for Confused and she's not posted under that name or her "real" screen name since Thursday. She's probably getting lots of care and attention from her DP so she doesn't have time to post. I do hope all is well with her though.

Hello
Found the new thread.
Re comfortable bras I've found Triumph Amourette and John Lewis completely budget no wire but still shaped ones really good so far. Lost a bit of breast tissue from feeding so long last time (a year) - they are going to be like two fried eggs by the time I'm finished grin Oh well! All part of the battle scars.

TS I had birth and beyond but given it to my SIL. It is a lovely book. I recommend it particularly to any of the first timers on here.

Btw my maternity jeans are staying up fine {smug} but I do have a belt on with them. They are under the bump ones from Seraphine. Poor bump has been walloped by the dcs a lot today. If this one isn't soothed by movement when it comes out I'll be very surprised. My very ugly but very effective electric rocking swing thing will re-emerge I think.

Also thinking of C&L. Hope she's ok.

petit I can beat you, am about to throw dd2 out the bloody window and have told dh who has not long arrived in that unless he wants a murder he's doing the bath & bed tonight! the problem is that she has MY temp and stubborn streak and we clash - she's only 22months hmmgrinwink

Dizzy you have my sympathies - I have the same problem with ds. He has a fearsome temper. I remember at about 18 months putting him in the cot to calm down as he was in such a rage. He pulled the curtains and curtain rail off the wall while in there. He's better now but still has his moments...
dd on the other hand just does a bit of foot stamping and turning on the waterworks. It is laughable in comparison. She'll be a terrible teenage though I've no doubt...grin

CYTEEN get thee to Bravissimo - they do D cup upwards and I won't shop anywhere else. Am normally a 30d but so far have crept up a size to 32E. Lovely bras and very supportive too.

Well we're off to the pub tonight - dh is just dropping ds off at my sisters then we're off down the local(s). I'd like to say I'm enthusiastic about it but I'd rather be nice and snug indoors and getting an early night! STill, at least I get to chat to my friend who is also pg so it's going to be worthwhile making the effort.

Have a sore toe at the moment - I kicked a metal bar earlier (not on purpose!) - it's the foot of my exercise bike. Yowch. Can't bend it now and it's a bit fat too. Still, what can you do about a sore toe? Nothing. So I'll stop moaning about it. grin

Have a lovely evening whatever you have planned - see you tomorrow! grin

I forgot to say TS, you asked on the old thread about why everyone had been looking at lie-flat strollers. I'm not sure if anyone answered you yet, but they recommend here that the baby lies flat as much as possible and isn't sitting upright for more than 2 hours at a time, but I can't remember how long this applies for. Maybe someone else can help? xx
Contact the poster Contact mumsnet about this post By petitfilou on Fri 28-Mar-08 19:32:09

TS I forgot all about that too sorry. Hazie is right, they recommend newborns are in lying flat position for as long as possible - I personally hate seeing the wee souls scrunched up in their car seats for any length of time, they've only just managed to get out of a constricted space FGS let them have a wriggle and stretch lol

Okay Sazzles I've upload a few photos to prove I'm real and not an avitar. And yes, Dizzy you'll be happy to learn I do have a head. grin

Honestly I'd forgotten about the stroller question but I do find that interesting. I guess my DD's been damagedhmm for life as she LIVED in her carseat for the first year....I'm a very busy lady.

I am totally wiped out from today's shopping binge. I bought two skirts, two shirts, and a dress..oh and some more flip flops. None are maternity but all are big and summery so should be fine.

Will go have a looksee now on other thread about Miamala/Confused.

lol TS am sure you've done her no lasting damage! I used my lie flat ALL the time for dd1 but not so much for dd2 as it took up the whole of the back seat and I won't have dd1 in the front with me, she's only 4 and distracts me too much lol

I did use it all the time for all the walking I did and will do the same for this one hopefully

you have a lovely happy looking family, what a smiley lot you are smile

Jane Matrix Cup
We weren't very impressed with this baby seat. Although it gives good front crash protection and excellent head support, side crash protection isn't great, and it's not very user friendly.

Installation is complicated and the belt routing is awkward, so there's a fairly high chance of fitting it incorrectly. The buckle system is hard to master too.

This seat isn't particularly comfortable either, as the padding is rather hard, although it does provide good leg support. The seat has a good quality of finish, but the covers aren't easy to remove or clean. In addition, the child's view is restricted.

You can fit this seat to a variety of Jane pushchairs.

Pros: Excellent head support

Cons: Complicated to use, danger of incorrect installation, hard to clean

Shame on you dizzy! wink I'll let you off this time though! The little one's called Ayla Louise, not sure where the name came from but I'll catch up with her soon and quiz! It's a bit selfish but I was hoping it wouldn't happen until Monday as I've got my scan at the hospital then and could've visited her! Some people have no consideration! grin
Hi Karney, hope you've caught up with us on this page now. I got my bras from Bravissimo, I think they're by Fantasie, but they weren't cheap and look like granny bras! I was complaining to my DH about it and he just said, well as long as you're comfortable that's the main thing! hmm Wait til he sees them on! I too am carrying a couple of watermelons! I was a 30J when they measured me last week, but convinced the sales person to put me up a back size to go down a cup size as you run out of options after a J cup!

Jane Matrix Pro
This seat is designed for babies from birth to about a year (13kg). It is quite unusual in that it can carry very small babies both rearward-facing and lying flat, but in this latter mode it achieved just one star for overall safety and the risk of serious injury to a baby in a crash is far too high. Don’t buy this model.

Cons: Risk of serious injury in a crash.

lol hazie have posted the reviews on both the matrix but the cup is the new one which didn't get slated - the matrix pro is the old model and its the one which is not rated at all

I'd suggest going and having a look at it, I loved mine with dd1, of course not too happy now read that review of it but will still use it as a lie flat instead of buying a carrycot as wouldn't be able to use it as a lie flat with the other two in the car anyway

in all honesty I loved mine, the whole pram/car seat and buggy of it but its a very personal thing and what suited me may not suit others

lovely name, is it a different spelling of Islay but same pn or am I wrong?!?

Katie and Peter are still on tv?????....They don't come on here anymore. I really got hooked on that show. I'm a reality tv addict unfortunately.

Well DH and I have had an exciting evening watching my belly dance. She must be remodeling or something because she was all over the place. I can tell she's getting bigger because her head is still on by left side but now her feet kicks are completely reaching my right side. She had some fist action going on too. DH freaked me out by asking how it feels.....mentally that just gave me a weird alien thought so I had to stop watching the action.

Wishing everyone a wonderful weekend!!

TS - I saw the first movement last night too and DD1 felt it. Everyone had gone to bed by the time I saw the movement though so I didn't have anyone to share it with.

Shattered today as C has "required" a bottle to settle him in the middle of the night for 4 nights in a row and then he woke for the day at 5.30! He is back in the land of nod now but I have loads to do as I am going to work all day every day next week (have I already said that?) and really don't know how we will all cope!!!

Think he is teething - he only has 6 so far and a very sore bottom again.

That's so cool SKY. So how many more are seeing movement?? Mine actually was active all night long. I know I woke at least four times to her bumping around. I had chocolate pudding after dinner so I'm wondering if that's what caused her to perk up.

But sorry about your DS SKY. Cutting teeth is such a disruption in their little lives. My DD lived on Motrin during her teeth growing days....she asks for it now anything she feels achey.

Rainy here today. I think we'll take DD to the pool later (indoor/heated). I'm also going to return a few items I purchased yesterday...buyer's guilt. DH had some business in town early so he's alreay gone whilst I still lay in my BIG bed, eating toast and drinking orange juice. What a plush life I have.grin

SKYTVADDICT - poor ds - have you tried nelsons teething powders - they're wonderful!

cyteen - house sounds great, we bought ours like that, needing loads done, would sacrafice nice car/holiday etc and tighten belts, within a month of moving in I was pg with dd1 so it still needs LOADS done blush don't regret it though as we still love it

am feeling loads of movements but I think it will be a while before can see them through the protective layer I have dedicated to building up for my child by eating loads and avoiding the gym - am devoted mother me grinwink

so some of the stuff had ordered for the wedding turned up yest so waited till after girls had their bath before trying it on

was badly disappointed. this stuff was not cheap, was a credit card indulgence through panic over outfit for wedding and I thought it was terrible. A pair of trousers £80, they were such crap material you could see through them. Now I wouldn't pay 80 farking quid for a pair of trousers normally and certainly won't be doing it whilst pregnant unless they make me look like Angelina [humph] needless to say they've all been parcelled back up again and into the box for a swift return on Monday morning. Still have stuff from 2 more shops to come so fingers crossed otherwise I'll be going in my joggers

took girls to soft play thinking I could get some college work done whilst they ran riot. the place wasn't busy so that was brilliant, dd1 had 3 other girls rounded up like the pied piper and playing away, dd2 - PITA. am about demented with her and don't know quite what to do with her full stop but (sigh) thats a whole other behvaiour/development thread!

pissing down here too girls so hoping its nicer where you all are

you know what Cyteen, i agree entirely, now had it turned up and I didn't like it just because am lardy and don't feel right in anything fair enough but they were terrible quality so even HAD I liked them on I couldn't justify the expense of keeping them

if I'm going to spend £80 on just one thing (which isn't in our budget tbh) then I want to fecking feel like I spent £80 on it, not a market bargin (which am not adverse to but certainly wouldn't buy anything there for £80 lol)

It's pretty depressing what some manufacturers think they can get away with re. quality...my friend bought a Versace Versus black shift dress from Harvey Nicks a few years ago, reduced from about £400 to £90 (guess there may have been a clue there, huh?). She wore it to a club and when she got home the dye had bled all over her, colouring her zombie-grey from shoulders to knees. I was shocked! You expect that with £20 cheapies but not poncy labelware.

pmsl - poor friend, maybe she has super strong sweat?!? grin

these were clothes from Isabella Oliver and Crave which I would've though would be fab. The IO ones were really flimsy material and not worth the money - really poor
the crave ones were fine quality wise I suppose just not worth £48 for a v neck pale blue top - didn't look nearly £50 worth if you see what I mean?

Afternoon all

Well took the day off work yesterday and went shopping. Been again today. Got a couple of maternity tops from H&M and just some bigger tops from M&S. They are kind of holiday clothes so still planning on going in my head, and being that my blood pressure was completely normal first time at last ante-natal check I'm feeling positive.

Plus, have now managed to buy baby something too. As we don't know what flavour we're getting white is the only option, but there seems to be a real lack of it in the shops. But I suppose more people find out nowadays and that could be why.

Not sure if anybody noticed on the last thread but I think I'va managed to post the scan picture on my profile, baby was sucking it's thumb, so a great picture even if I do say so myself grin

It's great isn't it.

BTW, had a look at the prams in John Lewis again yesterday and have changed my mind. Going to go for Silver Cross Freeway Linear. It's really quite lightweight and easy to push. They do a cargo colour which is Grey, but I've also emailed them to see if they plan on bringing out any other colours smile
