Loved the new thread title - that sums us up very nicely! Had to leave the kitchen in a hurry earlier as DH was cooking some cabbage for himself and the smell just made me want to heave. Yuck! Have gone right off veggies at the moment. Great news about the successful scans today - it makes it more real once you've seen the bean doesn't it? Hope everybody else is OK this evening.
Pinkali37 and Smiles - I'm so pleased for you both that you got the scan results you were hoping for. I'm a bit jealous tooas I've to wait again for another week and half. My last scan, when I thought I was about 7 weeks, indicated I was 5-6 weeks and couldn't see anything other than sac.. so to go back on 4th. My last scan the sac was 1.4mm - Good god 7.4mm seems a lot of growing for my bump within 2 weeks - is that OK?? anyway it is great news admist all the ms, pains, worries we're all having.
Dungun - glad the bleeding has stopped. Fab. x
Yesterday I had to go to bed in the afternoon. I didn't want anything to eat, but was hungry and Yucky at the same time. So lethargic and uninterested in anything. Yet today I feel better, although don't want to eat too much. Though nearly fell asleep when giving DS his good night cuddle.
Love the new name - I had a mini panic attack - I thought I was gonna loose you all GO on, give us a ginger biccie!!
pinkali I am so pleased that you got to see little bean/pea and that it has a great beating heart. Great news! Your cats and dogs are so adorable by the way!
Thanks everyone for your wishes!
I have had a little more brown/light pink discharge this afternoon but I am not going to worry about it as it isn't fresh blood and there is nothing I can do about it anyway!
I just have to wait to hear my blood results tomorrow morning and then hope all goes well until my scan on 7th April.
Silly o' clock at night and I am still up, again. Oh dear.
You are worrying me with your talk of feeling rubbish and not being interested in food. Oh god, I am frightened
I tried to add pics earlier but the internet connection kept crashing every time. Will try again soon.
I too like the new thread name.
Oh serendippity poor you 3 times in one day. I was assuming that everyone with talk of feeling poo would be further along than me, but that is just downright unfair, for you Oh suiledonn in hospital by 7 weeks, you poor thing! I used to be in my bed by 9pm in order to make it stop for 12hours, then an afternoon nap to get a release for an hour or so too. You must be about 8 weeks now though? I hate the idea of counting days away but it is what you have to do when they are poo. When did it pass for you, last time?
Here you all are!!! Fab title and a nice shiny new thread for us to fill!! Hope everyone is alright and had good nights???! serendipity very jealous of your weimaraner.....the minute we move out of London I am going to get one! Had one growing up and they are the best dogs ever!! What is yours called????
Have updated the liost as finally (!) got my dating scan...it's this monday coming so that gives me the whole weekend to worry but at least I get support here I don't feel PG anymore apart from the od twinge haven't really had major sickness or anything........Anyone else got a scan Monday..can we worry together??!

Morning All, well that confused me... I was like "what do you mean the thread can't be addded to?"... alas I find you all here.
So, After scan yesterday feel a little happier that it is in fact real, I have a PEA inside me. Keep looking at the photo, it's so small and the bit I think is it's head is in fact the yolk! Oh well, a mothers love, it really doesn't matter that it looks like a prawn at the moment.
Divedaisy, I too had to go to bed yesterday at 4.30 and woke up at 8.00pm. Got up, had a jacket potato and went to bed again. Think i had so much nervous energy built up from being anxious about scan. Plus felt like I had had a heavy night on the Pinot Grigio.
Re size of bean/pea, don't worry I think they double in size from 4 weeks to 6 weeks so that is quite amazing. Especially the thought that as the MW said yesterday in the EPAU mine is now 7.4mm but by the time we go for the 12 week scan it will measure around 10cm !!! Now that is a big growth spurt.
So I haven't been sick BUT just don't fancy food. Does that make sense? I have no desire to cook whatsoever when I usually love cooking.
MOrning - juts had cereal coz is breakfast time but now sitting here wondering whether am gonna be sick or not. I must get something ginger like in the house - biscuits a bit hard as am coeliac (will have to see whether I can get them gluten free) otherwise think I will try to find some drink.
<takes big deep breaths to to counter balance the queasyness>
Think I will put off cleanin my teeth as that is bound to make me put my head down the loo
<another deep breath>
Does anyone have pains on and off that they could say were on one side - I do now and then and can't help but think 'oh no' is that ectopic. But then later it's not there so am sure it's normal and am sure if it was ectopic I would know about it.
Oh look at the state of my house, clothes on the table, clothes on the stairs (top and bottom) clothes in the washing machine, clothes on the bed and bedroom floors!! ahhhhhhh have already hoovered up a load of talc that my DD decded to shake all over the floor....
Hi Roca, I get some very strange pains. Some quite painful on my right side (which I was also convinced was ectopic). I also get it on my left but think that is my bowel (mmmm).
thanks Pink. Is assuring to hear others have that. It's really on and off. Really low down and totally not there now whereas I'm sure with ectopic it's really bad all the time?
I hope I can reassure some of thr ladies that don't feel pregnant, I don't either and am 8+3. I have never really suffered in early pregnancy with any of my pregnancies, but boy, do I get a list of things by the end. I am so not looking forward to the crippling heartburn the awful restless legs syndrome and backache from hell! It is all very worth it though and all thoughts of how good or bad your pregnancy was flies out the window when you hold your baby.
Roca, I have been getting some weird pains on and off. Some have been on my side and quiet painful, turned out to be a combination of wind and round ligament pain. This week I am getting a fair bit of cramping towards the evening if I have done too much, obviously my bodies way of telling me to slow down a little
I had been wondering where my nausea had gone, nit that I get it bad, but I hardly get it at all during the day now. I found it at 3 am this morning when I had to get up to pee. Seems I feel more sick overnight and sleep it off and really only notice when I get up. Also, strangely enough, my boobs have not been sore at all, but were feeling more sore yesterday and my nips, ouch! All good signs I hope! Still feeling nervous naturally as I spotted at 8+6 with my miscarriage, but I am not as worried or scared as I thought I would be leading up to 9 weeks.
I am now waiting, rather impatiently for scan dates and for the doppler that a friend is lending me to arrive in the post. I rented a doppler with ds2 and heard his heartbeat at 9+4, such a beautiful sound.
I hope that you all have a good day, or as good as you can when feeling sick, and worrying about every little twinge, and symptoms or lack of it
Hi everyone, havent really been on the thread as it fills up so quick. if you stay away for one day its impossible to catch up! I have midwife booking in next week so really jealous of all those who have had their scans already
i have days where i dont feel pregnant, feel sick unless im eating so im gonna get as big as a house. ive really craved lemons and DH has been getting me lemon bakewells and other crap and i have been whiney that its not sour enough. Bingo with Lemon Sorbet! ate a whole tub and DH looked at me gone out! Also loving vinegar in beans. Now you remember i was loving the smell of washing but ive weaned myself off.....by not doing any washing! he he. welcome to all those who have joined. Its a horrible time to be in I think, you feel awful, you prob chosen not to tell the world so the help isnt forthcoming at a time when you feel rough and are worried sick!
Oo, exciting, the midwife just rang me. Booking in appt on 8th April!! She sounded nice. Time seems to be going so slowly at the moment, almost as slowly as when I was on the 2WW!!
Junaitad, a doppler is a little hand held device that midwives us to listen to babies heartbeat. Medical greade ones can be rented or you can even buy them from ebay. I wouldn't buy one now as it is my last baby, but I am pleased to be able to borrow one.
hey hm2j - can you really hear heartbeat that early? I couldn't unti 13wks with the midwife - ended up floods when couldn't hear it at 12 wks even though she said it would be unlikely!
I'm still waiting for my scan date to come through! Mind you, I only had my booking in appointment yesterday so I guess I have to wait for things to be set in motion now. Hopefully it won't be too long before I get a date through.
Have started thinking about booking a nuchal fold translucency scan. We don't have them as part of our NHS care where I live so we'll be booking an appointment with Babybond and getting it done ourselves. It has to be done between 11 and 13 weeks so I bet I'll end up having that scan before my dating scan. Typical!
[ennvy] NOT ENVY JUST THE COLOUR I FEEL YUK.... Was hungry and really wanted Heinz tomato soup with white bread dunked into it. Have now had it but am thinking it wasn't such a good idea! ....
Shiny sparkly thread! I am existing on cream crackers and everything tastes rough. Don't even want chocolate. Please God this doesn't go on for more than 6 weeks. Off to visit my best friend this evening, she sent me a cryptic text saying she suspected I had news . Unless she has been hacking into my ebay or amazon accounts she can have no idea! I think she is guessing as she knows we were trying. Not planning to tell her, as usually feel better by the evenings.
Big congratulations to you all! Can I join in? EDD of 21 November, though it'll be a c-section, so poss before that. I've got two DDs, 5 nearly 6 and 3 nearly 4 (day after tomorrow, Snow White cake in the oven). I've two ghastly dogs-breakfasts of emergency c-sections before so it'll be an elective this time, which is no fun, but probably more fun than the last two performances, and weird that I'll know the birthday before my babe will!
I've got no sickness yet at all, which feel weird - just enormous boobs. We're going on our first hot and indulgent holiday in years at the end of May, so I'm desperately willing the sickness to have come and gone by then (life just doesn't work that way though, does it).
I'm a SW Londoner, if there are any more of you out there.
Hi, quick typing from in laws! Roca- i have those pains, try not to worry it is everything stretching, your ligamentsand things. I've had them quite badly for a week or two, on andoff just like you. I do remeber them with dd as well, hope this helps a little Pinkalili- great news on scan, it makes it all real doesn't it. Twinklingfairy- some people don't get sick at all, again try not to worry, with dd i didn't start feeling ill till month 2. Dozymare- He's called Spook and was a very good boy in the car last night for 3 hours. He's currently sniffing absolutly everything and trying to get his bearings Feeling slightly less sick today, but haven't fancied any food yet. Dp gone to a bloody meeting in the Liverpool office, which focuses his familys attention far too much on my poor green face...
Roca, You are right, it is hit or miss as to when you can hear babys heartbeat. I was lucky with ds2, but there was a point at 15 weeks where the consultant coun't find it on the doppler, I would have been worried only I had just had a scan and saw that all was fine, lol! Baby is so small and like to swim away. We heard more kicking ans swimming sounds than the heartbeat some days, lol! He still doesn't like being poked and prodded now!
Pinkali37, sorry you are feeling so horrid today, I hope it eases up.
Hanaflower, omg, I would be freaked if I had cryptic messages like that as I really want it to be a suprise when I tell people! Good luck tonight!
Creena, I am in the same boat as you, had booking in yesterday and am now impatiently waiting on scan dates! I would love to have a private scan, but dh says we should save our money (can spend it on a new infant car seat as our has reached it's expiry date) and believe in positive thought as there isn't much we can do if anything is wrong anyway. Trust him to have the sensible head on!
Twinklingfairy - I don't feel sick just off some foods. They used to day that MS was a sign of a strong pregnancy BUT they don't say that anymore. Old fashioned MW will but my consultant assured me that this was no longer the case. Some women are lucky and do not suffer, others are less lucky! I am at the moment - not sure which camp i lie in ! So do not worry...
Hi Duncangirl - Sorry but i'm not sure about levels. Haven't had mine done yet but I am sure that if the MW was happy with them there is nothing to worry about
Hi Dungun - I always throught the thing with HCG levels was what was happening over time - up until ? wks (about 10 I think) they are s'posed to double every 48 hours - if they stay the same or drop this shows not all it where it should be.
There is such a huge range women can be that it's hard to compare one with another I think. If you look it up it will say something like wk 4-6 you could be 5 to 5000 or something like that.
When I had a miscarriage my reading was just 87 one day then 54 2 days later so it was obvious it was a m/c
Here is some info on beta numbers that I got from another site:
HCG levels in the blood during pregnancy is huge; a single value will not indicate a normal pregnancy! in fact a number of values are necessary before making a number of determinations, including how far along the pregnancy is. Consider the following figures (based on days past ovulation (DPO); all HCG levels and ranges are averages):
Look most closely at progression: during the huge majority of early pregnancies (80-90%), the level will double every couple of days, or 72 hours. As your pregnancy progresses, levels rise and that doubling time increases. The expected doubling time for HCG levels:
Under 1200 mIU/ml: 48-72 hours. Between 1200 to 6000 mIU/ml: 72-96 hours. Over 6000 mIU/ml: more than 96 hours
HCG levels rise during the first 8 to 10 weeks of pregnancy then decline slowly for the second and third trimesters. The following presents some average expected HCG levels based on time after conception:
Thought I'd drop back in and say hello. I did post a couple of times on the previous thread but have been away on holiday (up to the scottish highlands with lots of snow but I couldn't join in with the sledging )so am just catching up with things now.
Its good to see that everyone seems to be progressing well. I have my booking in appt at the doctors tomorrow. Am feeling well with no morning sickness which makes me feel slightly anxious. Last time i didn't have ms either but at times (between bouts of nausea) it must be quite reassuring. The only symptom that I have is a wierd feeling that there is something in there iyswim. That of course might just be all the M&S Flapjacks I have been eating.
Is there anyone else here from the Glasgow area (Southern General Hosp)? Am interested if anyone knows what the situation is with scans. Last time I was only given a 12 week scan. Is this still the case?
just a quickie for now - littlest ds has finally got a tooth coming through!!! it doesn't seem like much but as he's nearly 11 months, it's a massive relief. plus, i was the one to spot it and not the child minder. hurray!!
hi guys, finally found you all hiding here. Good news on the teeth! Just when thought i had been through all the teething with my 21 month ds i realised he been sooo grotty and found out about 2 year old molars!! Didnt know they even got them! It never ends!
I dont know about you guys but i get realllly hungry. I have to eat small things all the time. Or at lunch time i keep eating and then i realise afterwards i feel so sick like ive gorged (sp) myself!
Chased my MW yesterday as she was supposed to have rung me as i have to have an early dating scan. Shes faxing hosp tomorrow so should have a date by next week. I was worried as didnt want an internal scan (most people on here say early ones are) and asked midwife and she had no idea!
Congratulations to all of you. Fab new name, just quickly added myself to the ever growing list. I have made a booking in app for the 8th with my doctor and can't wait for that this pregnancy just does not feel real yet. Very excited though. Lets hope all these litlle beans sit tight until the end.

Found ya! Some newbies have started another Nov thread - I'll invite them over.
Had my scan. Its alive! And all is presently well. By my dates the foet is 8wks and by length on scan 8wks, 1 day. So that's pretty consistent I think with everything going according to plan. Is a spanner in the works though. That is that I have a fibroid, about the size of a golf ball, which is pressing on the yolk sac. You could clearly see the indentation. We saw this on my scan last August when I had mc and were told it could have been a factor in mc but impossible to say and most likely cause probably usual chromosome/development issue. But today the Consultant seemed to be saying fibroid could have been cause of previous mc and could cause problems for this baby. As baby gets to be bigger than the fibroid the fibroid ceases to be an issue but is very much an issue for the next few weeks.
So before I was anxious about this pregnancy given mc last year. Now having had scan and this information am sh**ing myself!
However, I must keep things in perspective. Lots of people have fibroids and still deliver children. Black women nearly always have them apparantly without problems. However, more problems are caused for white women. But I might have had this fibroid during 2 previous successful pregnancies as consultant said its not the type of thing an NHS sonographer would generally tell you about.
A case of too much information I think... Still am relieved that it is presently alive, appropriate size no signs of bleeding in uterus and cervix closed.
YIPPEE 'R' BEAN IS ALIVE.... Fibroid is another factor BUT positive thoughts!! My Acupuncturist told me to think sticky thoughts and so the same could be said about your fibroid, think small thoughts! Does that make any sense? I am so pleased for you but am also thinking of you over next few weeks to ensure BEAN develops into a healthy Heniz variety and not a cheap Aldi one... me and my stupid analogys!
finally managed to get hold of MW today (1 has left and another is off sick!!). She's standing in for sick one so doesn't know very much about antenatal care in my area - fantastic, that makes 2 of us!! She's booked my booking in appt for next weds providing other MW is back. God knows what'll happen if she isn't. Feel alone at the moment.
Great reading about all your 'cravings'. Just had to have a marmite sarnie last night and can't stop eating oranges (would like to think I was being very healthy but after just scoffing a whole packet of jammy dodgers, I think not )
DungunGirl I've also got really tender boobs, mainly in the evening when they feel so heavy that the skin might split. I've even had leaking from one nipple!! God knows what size they'll be in November. I probably won't even be able to stand up straight!! Have you tried changing your bra. Maybe the fabric is causing them to be itchy? How about trying 100% cotton?
Hi - can I join? Got a BFP last week and reckon my EDD is 26 November
Quick introduction - I have one gorgeous gorgeous DS who is 20 months and have been TTC for 5 months now. Still don't think it has sunk in properly yet but that is probably because I have absolutely no symptoms at all. Had horrendous all-day sickness and exhaustion with DS so really keeping my fingers crossed that it doesn't happen this time.
Hi to everyone - can't possibly catch up with everyone - there are so so many of us!!

Welcome to Ceebee and don't worry i'm sure you will have plenty of time to catch up over the coming months
Dungungirl i too have had itchy nipples , they seem to vary from being swollen, sore, sensitive and now to itchy.
I'v decided to tell my parents tomorrow, i should be 8w+5 and am going to visit all weekend so cannot really escape the 'why are you not drinking questions'. I don't really think they will be expecting it at all!! Wish me luck
hi all, glad to hear all the good news with the scans. I can't wait for mine on the 6th April 9 its a early scan, hopefully i should be about 7 1/2 weeks).
Ceebee74 i also have a 19 month ds and have been trying for about five months....was starting to panic.I was given Clomid as i had quite bad pcos.
Hi ASh80 - I too am a severe PCOS sufferer...are you on metformin as well??? WEclome cbeebe74 - can't believe we have another new one!!! This MUST be the longest list eh?!
Yay Ceebee, so glad you are here! Does that mean you told your friend you are pg? Bet she was dead pleased for you!I can't wait to start telling people - am finding it really hard to keep the news to myself. I spent the day today with my friend who had her baby on mother's day...her DD is soooo cute, and she was telling me all the gory details about the birth - as this is my first, it's good to be pre-warned I suppose!! I was dying to tell her, she knows we're trying anyway, but I still think it's a but early, not even 7 weeks yet, so will see how much longer I can hold out!!
Hope everyone else has had a good day. I still haven't had any MS yet - don't know if this is because it's a bit early, or if I'm not going to get it at all, or if it's something to worry about (in keeping with this thread title!)
Thanks for the welcome Has there been something in the water recently??
Juanitad - yes I did tell my friend and she was v chuffed. Also ended up telling my aerobic instructor as I just feel better doing the class if someone knows - she was really pleased aswell (we went through our last pg's together). I seem to be much more 'free' about telling people this time which I think is common with second children.
HM2J - Ds has been a little angel again today so maybe it wasn't his curls after all
DrsWife - can I borrow your hubby to but me the treats I fancy??!! Every time I mention a wee fancy my hubby reminds me about weight gain and trying to loose it afterwards - that puts me right off everything! What I'd do for a Lemon Tart etc etc. Oh I did buy a Tescos finest Lemon Torte - that was one for the 'Organics' Ad - Yes Yes Yes - it did it for me!
Can someone educate me please? - what is PCOS?
Dungungirl - yes itchy nips here too - once I start scratching it's hard to stop!!!Get some funny stares - I was having a 'fix' in the car and was spotted!!!
This list is getting so long! By the time I get to catch up I've to read about 3 pages and then I forget all those gems of wisdom I was gonna post for those on the earlier pages! Baby brain doesn't help! Even worse I forget the names of those of you who have had great scan results - excuse my memory, but congrats to you!
Have felt quite energetic today. Sat and did as much of my VAT return today as I could believing the deadline was Monday... I've another month to get it in by! Dim or what! MS not much - rather I feel hunry most of the time, but yet don't know what to eat so then can't be bothered. Love ice cold milk!
OH MY GOD!! AN ADVERT FOR CHEESECAKE! HOW MEAN! I WANT SOME OF THAT NOW!!!!
I know what you mean about mean adverts, I felt the same when roca talked about her banana on toast drizzled with honey, yuuum! I resisted, but not sure I have honey anyway
ceebee74 I was really sick with DD too, and am now really scared about getting ill again this time. I am nearly 6 weeks and that is when it hit last time too. I had a wave of it tonight and am now convinced it is in the post.
On the plus side, my mum phoned me tonight to tell me that she did have a medical worry, but it turned out to be unfounded so she is now so happy I can't wait to go see her tommorrow, to give her a big hug and tell her my news!
Divedaisy you can borrow my husband if you like, he is currently trying to get our whole house carpeted, curtained and fetching me lemony treats... however he isnt as accomodating when i want to sleep at 8.30pm or if i dont want sex cos im tired. i get a few tuts or huffs and so today i exploded. I know its mood swings but i went mad saying i cant help the physiological symptoms and that screw the house and the carpet i need some emotional support.
I feel like a proper bitch now but his sulleness makes me feel guilty and this was a planned baby. maybe i am being over sensitive as he is really pulling out the stops making a "nest" so maybe thats his support. How are other people's DH/DP?
I have been over on the mc thread, becasue I did not want to depress you guys, but I have still been lurking this and old thread :
I have good news. I was wrong. I have not miscarried. I went to Kings yesterday and they did a scan before they saw me in the diabetic pump clinic.
I am 6+3. They saw a sac, yolk sac, embryo and they monitored the heartbeat. No amniotic sac present and she commented that worryingly it was a bit small, but atleast this is more advanced than my mmmc in Nov 07, when all they could see was a mis-shapen sac. Clearly it is very early and we are far from out of the woods, but I can not express my delight.
It took me 3 hours to get to Kings yesterday. I was too late for a scan, but begged them. Prof Amiel who has always cared for my diabetes, & through ds's pregnancy and my mmc, was so nice. I felt like i was getting the best service in the word.
Rememeber that since I found out I was pregnant, 28 days ago: I only had sore boobs and felt pregnant for one day, then lost symptons. I have had very bad pains, shooting pains, that have made me yealp with pain - similar to those I had when I had my mmmc. I went to : my Gp twice, 2 phone appointments with another GP, I have been to A&E, and the EPU clinic twice, none of which offered me anything - no explanation for the pain, no treatment, no scan, no nothing. I had given 4 urine samples and had bloods taken aswell. So how come no one EVER seemed concerned about my pain, or tested my urine for protein ? In the last 2 days, my pain has subsided. Instead I am very nauseous and keep retching. This I am loving , because it makes me feel pregnant.
Yesterday Prof said I had protein in my wee and has given me amoxycillan. The scan showed I had a cyst on the other ovary, similar to Nov, which she suggested in infamed and may be part of the pain. I felt that atleast I was being aknowledged and listened to.
Prof said she was unhappy with how I had been treated. she said that, I had to knuckle down and do lots of blood sugar monitoring, and that now the really serious work begins.
But I am very happy, and wanted to share with you, my joy at being wrong
just quickly popping in - Oblomov that's brilliant news! I'm really very pleased for you! Your Prof sounds great too; really supportive and understanding.
Rennaiscance - great news about your san too. Yippee!
Congratulations and welcome to all of our new members!
Right. I'd better get cracking now. Have got to get the kids off to a dental appointment and this involves making sure older DS brushes his teeth properly beforehand, which usually involves at least 20 minutes of nagging and sending him back to the bathroom to brush them again....
added myself to the list, but it prob will change as it's just an estimation

Welcome Ceebee Really good news omblov, congratulations
Well i have not been sick so far today! but get this....I have a bump! My size 12 jeans are too big but size 10's are getting tight. My previously flat and very hard worked for tummy is definalty swollen, torn between excitment and thrill of having a bump again, and terror at how bloody big i'm gonna get if i have a bump at 4 weeks!
Thedoctorswife- My dp is a very logical blokey. He's being very functional and getting me lemon and ginger stuff, but when i start whinging about how tired/ill/hormonal i'm feeling i don't think he gets it, i think he just thinks it's something to get through I really don't think it becomes real to alot of men until 8 months or later! Until they can see it, feel it or touch it isn't really making it's presence know to them, where with us in our hormanal, sick, cramping, analysing every single thing our bodies are doing mode, it is super real. Am i making any sense?
My scan date has just come through for 24th April. Argh, that feels like a lifetime away. I will be 12+3, which is the very last date I could have had for the new fangled downs screening bloods. So much for the midwife wanting me to get in early. Still waiting to here about the early scan that my GP refered me for
Anyway, here is the new list with my scan date:

Heartmum2Jamie what is the new blood screen for downs? the only one i'm aware of is the triple (or Bart's) test which I thought was done around 16 weeks? Maybe I'm wrong about the time when it's done, but I had this done when preg with ds.
Doctorswife - I'd love it if my hubby started getting the house decorated etc. he's just not really practical in that way. he has a full time job and then comes home and is on the laptop until bedtime trying to expand our business. then in bed he continues to talk about business and what needs done next! Very romantic! Needless to say I'm not worried about sex - I realise there's no harm that can be done, but because my dates are all over the place, I just don't want to risk anything until I see a heartbeat at least.
Oblomov - fantastic news! Your Prof is just what you need! Be sure to really take care of yourself! Were you not due your scan on Monday?? Or is that another one??
Lunchtime- yummy - I've jsut had two slices of maple cured bacon on a caramelised onion and poppy seed bagel with hot chilli relish! Yum Yum! washed down with a pint of water with lemon and lime slices. Delicious! Tonight I'm making minted lamb chops with brown and wild rice and roasted veggies! how does that sound? Anyone else got tasty recipies - or even weird ones - like peanut butter and cream cheese (courtesy of Holby City's Mr Hope!!) Personally I love peanut butter, jam and banana.
Divedaisy, I was told about this new test on Wedensday by the midwife. Apparently they now take your blood when you go for your dating scan (if it's between 10+1 & 12+3) and screen it for Down's only. 4 days later you should get a letter if all is well or a phonecall if they want to see you again and they will arange for a NT scan. Depending on the results to that (again, yes or no), THEN they will do the bloods at 16 weeks. Apparently the reson for this 3 fold testing if to try and reduce the number of false positives and amniocentisis being carried out.
I am not sure if this is the same across the board, or just the way they do it in South Staffs? I was also told that they don't do a blood screen for spina bifida anymore either . No wonder it feels like a lifetime since I was last pregnant, they keep changing everything!
Heartmum2jamie - ive got the midwife on thursday, i assume she will tell me about all the tests I will be offered or do I need to go in there armed with questions?
Divedaisy - my husband has his own business building houses so he's getting his contractors to come and sort our house. i guess i feel guilty as when we got married he let me leave work and stay at home. he wanted to be able to come home and relax etc rather than us both rushing to make dinner etc. now he comes home and im either asleep or retching at the smells in the kitchen etc. he said "i seem to be making a lot of dinners lately" and i could have lamped him. im just a hormonal ungrateful cow at the moment. i can hear myself moaning to him and think shut up shut up! he's doing everything for me giving me a lifestyle i could only have dreamed of but i get narked when he moans im tired! or worse when he tells me he's tired!!!!!
I was given all the info I needed, which strangely, considering this is my 3rd child, seems to be the first time my booking in has been done properly. Basically, they read all the stuff to you from your hand held notes, as there are sections to tick to say that the tests have been discussed and that you agree to them and have to be signed by the midwife. If she doesn't mention it (it would be bad if she didn't) definately ask.
okay next dumb question what tests should i be asking for then as a minimum. this is my first and despite reading all the books off amzon i still find the tests part a bit of a mindfield. a dating scan, a nuchal transcluency scan? is that done at the same time.. blood tests i dont understand, but i do understand cvs and amnio but i shouldnt need them unless high risk? is that right. help!
LOL! These aren't dumb questions, it's good you want to be clued up.
I think basic tests you want to have done are the routine first set of bloods (varies from PCT as to when they do them) This will do a full blood count, your blood type, immunity to things like ruebella as well as checking for some diseases like HIV. The new downs test is carried out between 10& 12w+3d, but this used to be done at 16 weeks, called the triple test where they checked for downs, spina bifida and one of the other trisomy numbers I think. There is also a blood test at 28 weeks to check iron levels for anemia. That should be it for blood. In most area's 2 scans are available, a dating scan between 10 & 14 we
