: Due Sept: 1st trimester to the back of me, 3rd is to the front - Here I am stuck in the middle with you.....

Feeling very Started bleding at the weekend, went to hospital and they were fantastic. Had an emergency scan and Flump was there waving. They cannot find a reason and have advised rest and hope. Really thought at 16 weeks that that worry was behind me. I know that I should be pleased with the scan but really really scared and cannot stop crying.
Sorry for whinging and thinking of everyone with tests this week.
I know that when we get into the high numbers of posts some people have trouble keeping up particularly if they have slow connections!!!(Used to be me)
Well - here's hoping that a shiny new thread will bring shiney good news to those that need a good dose (including you and your sickness - my goodness that must be wearing!!!)
I still have occassional bouts of sickness, - terrible indigestion and not much of an appetite, - but overall I'm tones better than I was!
Potxola and Sassafrass - Am thinking of you both today. Hope all has gone ok and you both get good results on Friday xxx
Worthog - That must be very worrying for you. If they saw no reason for the bleed that's probably a good thing, it means there isn't a problem as such. I bled on and off with ds2 from 12 - 20weeks. Had more scans than I remember and everytime no reason was found! Hard I know but take it easy try not to worry. Hope you are ok xxx
Talking about bumps, I look huge already. I suppose that's what you get for having already had 3 lo's and no longer having any stomach muscles left! I wake up looking about 16weeks and goto bed looking about 25 lol!! I'm only 13weeks. At this rate I'm going to look like a whale......
Lou222 you poor thing losing a stone! Hope you put lots back on soon. I'll let you know about my bump progress, although I'm sure everyone grows at very different paces. Having said that, my sister took a while to show and we both have fairly wide hips so think I will be the same...Bring on the bump!
Love the new thread name!
Worthog hope the bleeding subsides, can't be nice but I'd try to focus on the scan if poss, which sounds very good.
Surely, - I have massive hips and my DS1 spent most of my pregnancy hiding in them. I was only really noticable once I had passed 30 weeks!
I was quite happy about it though, - coz I had a promotion interview late in my pregnancy and was able to wait until after a successful promotion to tell work.
Not so lucky this time though as had 3 weeks off already with ms!
Good luck Potxola and Sassafrass! Hopefully this is the good news thread.....
Oh yes, I'd forgotten about self cert-ing another week. (see old thread!) i think I'll keep that in reserve in case work are unhelpful about working from home when I go back in.
I am also lacking in the bump department. I've put on 9 lbs, which is a little excessive, but all over, so that doesn't even help me look pregnant! I am trying to persuade DP that the baby does not weight the 100g that the pregnancy book recomends, but several hundred times that! Although probably most of the weight gain is boobs, which are insanely huge.
Poor you with the bleeding worthog, but glad that they were able to provide the reassurance of a healthy scan - try to focus on that.
Hope the scans went as well as they could have done.
wothog i had a bleed a week ago and they never new why, i didnt bleed with the other 2 i am so worried still when i go to the toilet in case i find blood
dh had the day off work today so we took dd and ds swimming we had a great time untill we were getting dressed i forgot to pack my bra good job i had a big coat on
thanks surely, don't worry i could afford to lose a stone ! i was a size 14 and now and 12- 14 but not for long i suppose. and i do have wide hips!
i haven't told work i'm pregnant yet so it may be a good thing i'm not showing i'm self employed so worried if they find out they'll stop giving me work! i shouldnt have to see anyone from work for a good few months now so should be ok does anyone know if i have to tell them 15 weeks before still?
my boobs are sensitive in the mornings, ouch! I have given up on bra's as they get so uncomfortable, even the maternity ones. I'm surviving with vest tops and sports bra's, its a lot more comfy.
I got some scrummy Clarins moisturiser for my bump today (I had a debenhams voucher from Xmas to use up, I don't usually have the cash for Clarins stuff!). I didn't get stretch marks last time (and I used the same cream)so I really really hope I don't get them this time. x
Have copied the list over and finally got round to adding my due date following my scan last week. All looks good so far but we don't get offered the NT scan so have to wait for the quad test in a couple of weeks time.

Thanks everyone for all the support. Had the amnio today and it went well. I was very very nervous but managed to keep still and the consultant was very pleased. Afterwards I couldn't stop shaking but the actual procedure didn't hurt, just felt uncomfortable. So now it's waiting time...
We should get the results on friday. I'll be at work so I've instructed the hospital to give the results on the phone to my dh who is a stay at home dad at the moment. I've also told him not to call me at work with the results. I figure that I couldn't cope with bad news at work and if I told him to only call me with good news then I'd be a nervous wreck if he didn't call.
With impeccable timing my tasting box from the chocolate tasting club arrived today, so I have some fabulous chocolates, girly books and a season of Buffy to watch.
Mamamufin, for more info go to www.chocs.co.uk/ It's 16 quid per box so not cheap, but the quality is amazing and each month you get different chocolates with a little tasting menu, scoring card and a news sheet. If you like good chocolate, it's definately worth taking a look. There is nothing lovelier than having a box of great chocolates come through your door unexpectedly =)
Worthog a similar thing happened to a friend of mine at around the same stage. At the scan they told her they thought the placenta had become detached and it was a bit touch and go. But the bleeding stopped and then a couple of weeks later she had another scan and everything was fine (placenta still attached). She's been fine since and is now only a few weeks off giving birth. I know it's really scary but if they haven't found a cause for the bleeding that's probably good. Just rest for now and hopefully it will sort itself out. See if you can get another scan in a little while. Great that Flump was waving, that's a very good sign!
My boobs ache these days too - especially when I'm rushing to the loo! Re the bump showing thing - I too have wide hips so that's probably partly why I'm not showing. Lou222 I have also lost the best part of a stone due to nausea but like you I had it to lose as was still losing previous baby weight. Last pregnancy I lost half a stone in the first trimester but then pigged out when the ms passed so I ended up 3 stone heavier after the birth than before I got pregnant! I'm really hoping not to do that this time but the willpower is slipping already. For tea I had sausage, bacon, egg and 2 large pancakes with maple syrup!
Hope this works, been lurking for ages - first baby, very nervous, bit shy but everything on these threads has been so much help (even if it has made me cry occasionally). 17+1 so here goes:

HELLO girls I am back ! Thank you for all your lovely vibes. The amnio went really well. Emsie, I am thinking of you too. Sassafrass, I am glad we went through this successfully together.
I had you all in mind while the dr. was trying to find the best place to insert the long needle,it took a while, apparently the baby was taking too much room. I was instructed to rest in bed as opposed to be around my toddler for today and tomorrow. I feel a bit sore now and fragile in that area, but otherwise fine.
The fast results for Down S. and the other 2 most common deffects come on friday afternoon. The long results will take 2 weeks. They no longer give you the sex of the baby with the fast results, because it is not essential information, so I will have to wait a couple of weeks, like Sassafrass said, to find out.
It has really meant a lot to have your suport ladies. Thanks.
I am feeling some normal cramps,I'd better go back to bed to read more gossip magazines, I think I have 2 left.( George Clooney is getting married in Italy,Ange and Brad want the baby or babies to be born in France Posh and Becks are having problems, Britney wears knickers now...
Great news that amnios were ok! hope it is the same for others awaiting theirs fingers crossed for results
welcome to Talia and oopsacoconut!
I suddenly look enormously pregnant which is a bit disconcerting. Went to bravissimo today and have gone up 2 bra cups already. Don't know what my weight is doing - bathroom scales say no gain, gym scales say 4 kg gain, kings hosp scales said 2kg loss. Averaging a 2k gain you could say?
Welcome to all the new folks - we're quite a crowd aren't we!
Great news sassafrass and potxola that the amnios went smoothly - hope the results are fine.
That chocolate tasting sounds heavenly - I am a bit of a chocolate fiend. Though not at the moment - still slightly nauseous a lot of the time, particularly in the evening and chocolate tastes weird to me. I'm looking forward to my tastebuds recovering and food tasting normal again!
Morning all Welcome the new ones and congratulations. So pleased thing went well yesterday sass and pot. Make sure you are not tempted to do too much today. Thanks for the choco link it sounds great. Like pidge I usually love the stuff, but not at the mo. I have been sick already today. I am starting to feel like I am never going to feel normal again. On a positive note my folks are coming down today. My mum helps with the childcare and my dad tackles the diy. Perfect.
How's your running going Pidge? I haven't done any (except the odd really little bit at running club at school) for about 5 or 6 weeks now. Even after I got over my cold I was finding I was getting very out of breath very quickly and really felt like my body was fighting against me running. So I'm not going to try to get back into it now until after this baby is born (which realisticly will end up being next spring probably).
glad to hear that the amnios have gone well and have my fingers crossed for good results
have midwives appt this morning to have triple test bloods taken, does anyone know how long the results take to come through
have had a lovely easter weekend went to the seaside on monday and it was freeeeezzzing but still good fun
am going to ask for more info on homebirth on this visit and also ask if it is strictly nessecary for me to have the glucose tolerance test thingy as it will mean ds missing school as my appt it at 8.45!!! and i have had no probs in my other two pregnancies
not long now until my 20 week scan am 16 weeks on friday!! have a little bump but tbh most of that is sue to really lax stomach muscles as i looked a bit preggers before ........mmmmmm am thinking about afterwards when my huge boobies will stay and after having baby my stomach muscles will suddenly miracousley (sp?) have become all toned and lovely and i will be a size 8........ ok not very likely but i can dream!!
So pleased the amnios went well sassafrass and potxola... take good care of yourselves for the next few days!
Welcome to oopsacoconut and talia1
Well i finally had my booking in and scan yesterday... all was well although LO was seriously playing up and took forever to get into the right position for the nuchal. i'm beginning to think it's showing signs of inheriting it's father's extremely stubborn streak! after much jiggling of my hips we finally got a measurement of 2.2mm, now just have to wait a few weeks for the overall risk.
The best thing about the day was finding out about the new super-duper 'home from home' midwife-led birth centre opening at St. Mary's next month. 5 big comfy rooms each with a pool, and mum, dad and baby can stay there together for 24 hours after the birth. Naturally if there are any complications with my pregnancy or labour then i'll be whisked straight to labour ward, but it's great to know that i'll have a reasonable chance of giving birth there.
Due date has moved to 28th... so splishsplosh and carrieon you're my new bump buddies! Talking of which i have really started showing this week and love it. It seems a bit early but i reckon my first trimester extreme gluttony has contributed a lot. I've put on 3kg so far which isn't great but not as bad as i thought it would be...
Apologies for long me me me post, hope everyone's feeling great. mamamuffin am praying your sickness will lift soon... and worthog i hope you're starting to feel a little less worried.
Here's a stupid and slightly embarrassing question... does anyone know how I can tell which bits of my tummy are flubber and which are baby?
I've always carried all my weight on my stomach (and there's a lot of it to carry - I've pretty much looked pregnant for about the last six years...) but how will I know when I've got a real bump? The flubber is squodgy when I prod it - would the baby feel more solid?
I have no idea inquisitive, but I was wondering exactly the same thing. I am feeling a tad distressed that I have put on over 11 pounds, while everyone else is talking about losing loads in the first 12 weeks! I really really hate being overweight, and am struggling to love my 'blooming' body as the books tell me to. Grrr. Went swimming yesterday in a vague attempt to keep weight gain under control, but that will be out the window again when i go back to work next week.
Glad the amnios went ok, and welcome to the new people!
Ooh, and am a chocolate club member too - love it.
Glad the amnios went ok - rest and relaxation are your orders now
Welcome newbies and congrats
hopefully - I have also put on 11lbs and must say that I feel very unattractive especially with spots on face and loads on chest - I'm worried about what the midwife might say on Friday at my second appointment about the weight gain but not much can be done now. I do however look pregnant (well at least I think so). I'm starting pregnancy yoga on sat so hoping thats going to help
I've only put on 3 pounds but I was three and a half stone overweight to start with Am trying not to worry about the weight too much because getting the right stuff in for the baby is more important, but can't help feeling a bit anxious about it.
debithescot - funny you should mention the running, I have kept up a weekly Wednesday run in my lunchhour from work, but just today have decided to jack it in. I've been feeling exhausted for the last month - I was in bed at 8pm last night, out like a light and slept till 6.30am. Also, something about seeing the baby on the scan has made it psychologically harder to run. Some crazy thing about jigging the baby around too much, even though I know that's bonkers.
I still cycle 6 * 35 minutes on my work commute, but would like to squeeze in some swimming now the running has gone. Trouble is I've been plagued with awful, awful head to to eczema, plus this leg infection thing called folliculitis, which I've had twice this pregnancy, and am on oral antibiotics for again. Don't really fancy the pool when I look like I've got the plague!
Mamamufin - really hope you see some improvement soon. I find it depressing just coping with the mild nausea, and the fact that food is a battle. I normally love cooking and eating, and dp is fed up of me living off jacket potatoes when he wants to cook more exciting stuff! I have just discovered I can eat grapes, and am making my way through an enormous box of them. So that's enjoyable at least.
you've done so well Pidge to keep going with that much exercise for so long, esp as you have had ms too. Just keeping up with a bit of exercise should keep your fitness levels ok to make it easier to pick it up afterwards.
Inquisitive- at the moment my bump is quite soft as its not actually the baby that is the bump yet. I'm pretty sure the baby is still small enough that it is under my tummy but is pushing my tummy up and out so the bump is fat (and maybe a bit of muscle she says hopefully) mostly rather than baby. I can't remember exactly what happened when last time but it does get gradually harder as the baby takes up more space.
Ok, so I might be able to claim it really is bump caused by baby, even though it's not actually baby in the bump yet (IYSWIM). That makes sense, thank you!
Well after yet another scan yesterday (that is 4 so far...) I am ready to believe I am pregnant! This one moved my dates forward like the previous scans, so I am finally going to change it on the list from 27th to 23rd. At least it is further from my birthday on the 28th!
Welcome to all the newbies, too. And good luck with the amnio results sassafrass and poxtola. Thinking of you.
We are off to Mauritius this weekend for a week (please don't hate me) so will have a lot to catch up on when I get back.
All okay here - except that the nausea has returned with a vengeance . Was starting to feel human again but have been proper sick (not just feeling it) over the past 2 days - grrrr
DH and I have decided against the screening tests for Downs etc. It took a lot of soul searching but now I've made the decision I feel a lot better. We have decided that if there are problems when the LO is born then we will deal with it as best we can.
Have just read back that last bit and it sounds a bit harsh - I don't mean it to sound that way...
Right - have massive catch up to do after the bank holiday break, better do some work...
Glad your amnio went smoothly too poxtola, will keep fingers and toes crossed for good results for you and sassafrass.xx Am away from Friday till Monday in Cornwall, but will be checking in as soon as I return!x
MissusH- that didn't sound harsh. I know exactly what you mean. We decided the same as you. Although there might have been a bit of ignorance is bliss in our thinking too.
Thank you all, for your kind words about my ickyness. I undestand that I am not alone in having it and I truly sympathise with you guys in the midst of it. I have to phone work later and let them know that I will not be returning until I am alot better. I am not looking forward to the call, I feel so bad about it, like I am letting them down. But there is nothing I can do about it as I really am not fit to do my job. Happy hols feeling+ve and izzy. Very ious of those with baby bumps. Still quite flat. Maybe a small bump if I push my hips forward .
Starlight...yes me too Am going to mention it to the midwofe when I next see her.
Glad the amnios went well and you are both not too sore.
I have been feeling a bit weird the past couple of days....I bought some baby things in the sale on monday and suddenly got a strange superstitious urge to take them all back in case something happens....not usually superstitious at all so not sure whats going on. Anyone else had these feelings or just me?
Haven't been on MN for two days so have tonnes to catch up with...
inquisitive lie on your front on the floor, flat out. If you can feel a hard lump in your abdomen, its baby not flubber! I went for a massage at 16wks with dd and lay on my front on the massage table and couldn't believe that for the first time I could actually feel that there was something there.
littleconnie welcome to the 28th club! Although I might not stay long because...
I'VE BOOKED MY DATING SCAN!!! The first time they could offer me was in the middle of dd's 1st birthday party (grr) and the next appointment wasn't til Friday 11th April. I'll be 16 weeks! I begged with the woman saying that I haven't heard a heartbeat or anything, I don't want the NT or triple test, I just desperately want to meet my baby and get an accurate due date coz I know my dates are wrong as cycle was still up the creek from dd. She was very lovely about it and said I can phone next week to see if there's been any cancellations, but I really don't hold out much hope.
Does anyone have any helpful tips for dealing with restless leg syndrome? I don't want to go on the evil iron tablets.
Glad yesterdays amnio's went smoothly. Here's hoping for good results for both of you.
I finally have my next ante-natal apt tomorrow. Its with my GP who is far easier to talk to than my midwife. My GP looks like Eammon Holmes . I am guessing that I'll get the full results of my scan 3 weeks ago (although i was told that if anything was wrong they would call me). Apart from that I assume it's just to check my wee and blood pressure. Hopefully it will be boring.
I am still in after seeing Derren Brown last night. God knows how it does it all .
MissusH - we came very very close to making that decision, and in way I wish we'd been brave enough to turn down the extra tests. I have a couple of question marks over two trisomy markers hanging over me, though am still low risk and for Downs wouldn't act on it, but it's hard not to let it preoccupy you. It's a tough decision isn't it, what to do with all this information on offer.
All the best for the scan.
carrieon - can't believe your palaver over the scan - fingers crossed for a cancellation or something.
This thread moves so quick. Have been away home to Scotland to see family so missed quite lot but have managed at least to read all the posts on this new thread. My bump is pretty big now and had to buy quite few maternity bits last week. We opted against extra tests as well. We talked about it and DH says he couldnt go through with pregnancy if results weree not good and I dont think I could do that as have already felt baby move. So decided ignorance is best. Hope that didnt sound like I am judging anyone who does things differently we all have to make whatever decision is right for our situation x
carrieon - will definitely try that when I get home from work (am only just not managing to fling myself to the floor here and now but don't want to startle my colleagues... ) Glad you got your scan booked finally.
meglet - I have a secret (hmm, not any more ) crush on Derren Brown, but then I worry because I can't work out if he's hypnotised me into it...!
Gracie 14 and Hopefully I too was shocked to see the scales add on an extra half a stone when I had the silly idea to weigh myself a few weeks back so I've learnt my lesson and am avoiding the scales like the plague until I can fit into my old jeans again (probably sometime next year, hopefully)I mentioned it to the midwide and she barely raised an eyebrow but said it would probably all level out by the end. Huh! I've also got spots all over my chest, face has improved somewhat but my skin overall has gone terribly dry and itchy, especially at night when I have to douse myself with after sun just to stop scratching. Feeling very unattractive too as I've now noticed a double chin in the mirror everytime I walk past! Can't wait to actually look preggers rather than look like I've just eaten all the pies!
I to think I look like I've eaten all the pies and not that I'm actually pregnant!
However, I haven't put any weight on yet, 15 weeks today, and not sure if thats a good thing or not. No morning sickness so not lost any either. Just stayed completely the same as before. (Admittedly that is overweight, so perhapes a good thing). Just wondered if anyone else was the same and its normal, or if I'm being paranoid.
mustsleep I had my bloods taken yesterday and the midwife told me that hopefully I will get a letter next week to say I don't need amnio but she said she will phone me this week if there is a problem. So if I don't hear from her then its good news!
I think she also said that she will give me the results from all the other things they test for next month when I see her.
Welcome to all the newbies, I have quite a little pod going on now am wearing some maternity clothes - but have to go to a party on sat where I need t dress smart and sassy??!! How am I supposed to do that when I don't fit my clothes but then mat clothes are a bit baggy?!
Anyone else looking in envy at all the lovely summer clothes that are coming into the shops -and we are going to be waddling around like hippos this summer grrr!
Carrieon, I really hope someone does his / her job properly and they put forward your appointment.
Mamamuffin, have you tried the travel bands? They helped me when I was very dizzy. I am not wearing any more, I am just knackered all the time, but the dr assured me that it is quite normal to feel dizzy, nauseous and tired in the 4th and 5th months. Please don't feel guilty, some women feel great and full of energy and others not, it is not your fault and you are doing the right thing looking after yourself and your baby. I am thinking of you.
kirstygem, like you say, we all have to make our own mind up about that one. I am happy with my decision and of course, I understand and respect anybody who given the same situation decide otherwise. It is tough for all of us.
I am so bored being in bed, but I come dowstairs and my toddler wants to play on the floor and climb all over me, so I have to go back upstairs. With my first pregnancy I really ate well, I put on 13 kg but this time around with the dizziness, all the worry and the toddler running around I can't say the same. I've always had a big tummy, that is where I keep my extra pounds and the tummy is bigggggggg now, but the rest of the body looks smaller.
My dh keeps on telling me to eat more, that, I swear, has never happen to me before, I am a size 16. I love eating, but now I don't enjoy it. Maybe I am changing and I will become a size 12 in 10 months time.....
Yes I agree with you Lilypink I'm dreading this summer, I initially thought being preggers in the summer would be great but now I'm changing my mind as I'm realising the state of my legs, I would never subject anyone to these horrors; thread veins, kankles, pale and varicose veins Ughh. It will be cool linens for me I think!
Better update my dates, moved forward 3 days at scan few weeks ago.
Am now 15 wks +2 and still waiting to "bloom". Still struggling with nausea and tiredness. Been nice to hear form others who are in the same boat. Spent the last three weeks going "yes, I am still having morning sickness even though I'm over 12 weeks!"
