Hi, I can't see any up to date antenatal threads for mums to be in Scotland, anyone want to join in this one? I think there are a few Scottish mums on the due in June thread, so I wondered if we should have our very own for all of this year's Scottish crop?
I'm glad we're in the frozen north today, looking at storms in the south. I'm in Glasgow and a first timer to all these mum larks - alternating between being stupidly excited and scared witless. As we're all having summer babies (so far) let's hope they don't come with webbed feet!
Hello! I'm between Edinburgh and Glasgow and expecting no.3 in April- just less than 6 wks to go but am always late!
AM SO sick and tired of the rain. My two toddlers spent today doing 'gymnastics' on 2 duvets on my living room floor! I can't even face soft play ATM as am too tired to crawl around the place on my hands and knees after my dd!!!
Aww, don't worry, I don't know it most days either! My manager asked me last week if I was doing anything in April that would mean that I couldn't work a Saturday, as he was trying to work out our rota. I can hardly remember my name most days, let alone what the heck I'm supposed to be doing almost 4-8wks from now!!!
hey folks - hullo to you all. glad to see the next batch of teh tartan crew coming along. there is another group of us on bumps and bairns north of the border thread. keep is up to date with all your newbies!!
Oh crikey - added me to the list. I must have hit something when I first came into this thread that randomly sorted the posts and I was VERY confused. Anyway, it all seems to have sorted itself now and I'm getting it . Except I've posted the list again twice - oops!
Hello everyone. And Hi Soph - nice to see you here.
I have just under 5 wks to go and am getting very impatient. DH is going away tommorrow for about ten days so have to keep my legs crossed till he comes back!!
ah, shawlands, how is the shed these days lol I have family in carmunnock, west end, hamilton, howwood and bridge of weir so down your way a lot!!
lovely day here too!! well for now at least, forecast rain for later
hi soph - sorry you weren't on list and sure is was an oversight, will give hazie a slap on the wrists later!!
hi jaq39 - nearly time!! and a 15yr gap?!? well done you! my dh went away when I was due with dd2 and I threatened to have her whilst he was gone - am obviously a nastier person than you!! she went overdue, serves me right lol
Hi jaq39 - Soph and I are both due just after you ... not long now at all is it!? In fact, I've just noticed that your middle ones and my first are a similar age too. Spooky ...
I used to live near Shawlands too - down by Queens Park. It was a long time ago now but I loved it at the time. I had to move back to Aberdeen for a rest though.
lol northeast I used to live in west end just up from botanical gardens but my liver and bank balance complained so back up north for me too!!! must have got off the train a few stops earlier than you though
well we started off just doing a list, then hazie thought alphabetical then I thought maybe in order of who was due and when so not easily worked out at firdst glance!!
Dizzy - I've never (dared to!) venture into the Shed. Queues around the block there at the weekends, and lots of cab drivers refuse to pick up the people falling out/over! And I feel far too old anyway! Won't be going near any clubs for a while now....
Hello girls the DDs and I were wondering what the strange yellow light was coming through the blinds this morning, it was the sun (that fabled thing in Scotland) do you think we will get through a day without rain?
I am originally from Ayrshire, lived in Partick for 2 years, then emigrated to England lived near Cambridge for 3 years and London for 4. After DD1 was born I didn't want to do the crazy London commute so we came back home, DP works outside Edinburgh so we are kind of in the middle.
On the subject of people asking when the baby's due, I've had, 'So when do you calve?' Eh, never since I don't plan on having something that big coming out! Something baby-sized is enough to get my head round! Do you think he was calling me a cow actually? Never thought of that before!! Oh, in local language they'd say - 'Fan's it due quine?'
Oh, forgot to say sorry Soph28! I think I updated a list from earlier and missed you off, really sorry. Please call dizzy off, I don't want a slap! lol
Hi, ok to add myself to the list? I'm only 7 weeks and a bit superstitious about doing it so early but I'd forgotten how teeeeeeedious these early weeks are when you're trying to keep it under wraps-- I'm just desperate to have a natter about it. I went to my sil's last weekend and over the space of the evening was offered blue cheese, wine, shellfish and a sauna! (Rejected, pretended to accept, accepted, accepted.)

Hi Sweetkitty - I remember you too! So glad to see you're due a summer baby I'm actually really enjoying the last few weeks being on mat leave so not at the desperate stage yet, but I'm sure I'll feel differently if I end up 2 weeks overdue...
aarrgghh monthlymahem, I used to go to aqua aerobics in elderslie baths lol we used to live in johnstone until I was 3 and then moved to Bridge of Weir where my parents remain. brother in howwood, I managed to escape a bit futher from bofw lol
congrats mybabysinthegarden hope you're keeping well
Hello northeastmummy - it's funny to share a thread with someone we know in real life isn't it?
As for local dialect - the only thing I've been asked is "how are you keeping" which I think is a lovely thing! When we moved to Aberdeen a few years ago our neighbours gave us local dialect lessons (they were in their 80s and had strong Buchan accents!).
Oatcake cravings - I love your name - but now I might have to pop down to the canteen and buy some. (I've added you to the list in order of due date - where do you stay?)

Hi everyone, hope you're all having a good day. I had a crap night, toothache in a wisdom tooth I should have had removed years ago (but too much of a wuss to get it done) and when that wasn't giving me grief I was getting a good kicking from junior.
Anyway, have been out and bought a few baby things from Gap - if you've got an Amex card, it's 30% off at the moment. Got a couple of things for me too of course. I think their baby stuff is expensive, but I couldn't resist some organic cotton socks and hats which are sooo cute!
Aberdeenhiker, did you get your oatcakes? I had to go to the bakers for scones this morning, and now I think I am going to have to have some chocolate.
I was in Aberdeem as my first husband joined the police force up there. I liked the city - it was great! But I missed my family here and so we moved back. I am a teacher and did a bit of supply work but not a lot. Still like to visit Aberdeen though
Ooh, this one has moved fast! I'm near Fort William but have to go to Inverness to give birth as it's my first (local policy and a 2.5 hour drive, not too impressed!) I'm due the 7th of May and the time apprears to be speeding by!

Whinegums sounds like you need a visit to the dentist (aaaargh) I have already had a back tooth out and 1 filling this pregnancy! you have to take advantage of freebies while you can

Hi josey, I think in recent years the Belford in FW had been relaxing their policy but a few months ago they had to rush a girl to Inverness for an emergency caesarean (which they can't do) and she lost her baby I guess they don't want to take any risks so better safe than sorry. I don't know when they'll want me in yet but yes, a wee while before I expect. How did you find the care at Raigmore? Anything you wish you'd known before?!
hey bobsmum nice to see another May mum on here (although I see you're now April, that's next month!! wow.)
Baiyu care at Raigmore is pretty good pre and post labour wards the mws are really kind. Labour ward itself is fine but dont expect a mw with you at all times they seem to pop in and out to feed there face with tea and bic's. I cant really think of anything I would have liked to have known or anything I wish I had been told to have taken. If you can think of anything to ask feel free I will try and answer.
Hi Northeast, all good here thanks. Baby is being very cooperative so far and holding on until we finish ripping out our bathroom (what a great time to decide to replace your bathroom ) .
I had a little bit of a show on Sunday but nothing since, and no aches or pains so I'm betting on baby being late! The midwife this week did say it's as engaged as can be before going into labour so it's just a case of waiting!
Hope everyone is coping with various pregnancy aches and pains. I've got to say I've been really lucky throughout mine and even managed to avoid any nausea, so am hoping the birth will also go smoothly. Planning on having a water birth, although there is only one pool room at the RAH so it really depends on whether it's free at the time.
maybe the timing will encourage you to go into labour If I go overdue maybe I'll suggest to DH that he replaces our bathroom sink (the only thing that really needs changing).
I know what you mean about the windows! Its very sunny in Edinburgh and my windows are shocking, but its still far to cold to go outside and clean them!!
Hi Baiyu - I started out as 5th May according to my dates, but the scan put me back to April 25th.
April 26th is dh's birthday so I'm trying to plan an early something for him, just in case the celebrations get overtaken by someone else's birthday
It's also the date of the Baby Show at the SECC and I'm desperate to get some bargains there before baby turns up. Need to get my nappies and wraps and some disposables for the first few weeks.
I figured - what better place to go into labour?? Think of the freebies!! And entire stands and stalls brimming with midwives! I could snaffle a TENS or jump into a birth pool and get a free massage. Might be a bit public though
Anyone else planning on going to the Baby Show at the SEC? It's a great day, but only if you can get hold of free tickets. Otherwise it works out quite pricey with parking and ticket fees. I think Totsbots nappies will have free tickets again this year. Other companies too, but I haven't seen any yet.
Gorgeous here too - the sun is indeed shining bright on Loch Lomond and the banks are very very bonny Gorgeous views - the mountains are snowy too - I could be on the continent!
Hi fellow Scots - I have been looking out for a Scottish thread too since a few of my posts regarding Princess Royal in Glasgow have only received a couple of responses...
Anyway, I am due.... TOMORROW!!! Yikes!
Have taken the brass neck to add myself to the top of the list... Sorry MonthlyMayhem but don't worry, bet you "go" first - my LO has gone from 4/5ths engaged last week to having a mad tantrum and wriggling itself breech this week. He/she has only just settled back head down but keeps turning transverse/back to back after being "ceph" for WEEKS!!! Must be a girl!!!
