Accessorizequeen - I remember your name well from reading all the MB threads when I was choosing my buggy! Remind me, did you get one yourself in the end or not? I have the MB Urban, and love it!

As for the boy/girl thing, I'd actually quite like another girl. So many lovely clothes that I'd like to put a second in to! grin Would like a boy afterwards though, but since dh only wants 2 children in all, I guess it doesn't really matter. I've been joking for months that I'd like twins second time around, so that we don't have to argue about how many to have, so one of each please! (of course if it is then I'll be like shock for the rest of my pregnancy).

Nothing in the spreadsheet except what I post Smudgey grin. I did more info on the stats for my last ante-natal thread, but stuff gets out of date so quickly. Don't know if anyone's seen the Aug thread, but they even record 'next hospital appt', so there's must be a nightmare to keep up to date!!

What, you're working NOW? What do you do?
This is a late night for me by recent standards, but dd didn't go to sleep until 9:30, so hopefully I can get away with it.

I work in a call centre, it's so quiet at this time of which makes it worse, if I was busy I might stand a chance of my eyes not rolling!

I work three nights a week and at the moment dread every one of them, usually I'm in bed by 9-9.30 pregnant or not! Not long now though, just got to contend with shoving my husband off of my side of the bed when I get home, that's always fun.
Contact the poster See this person's profile Contact mumsnet about this post By Jambers99 on Thu 28-Feb-08 08:07:17
Blimey AandMsmum, don't know how you stay awake! I'm tucked up in bed by about 9pm most nights. Not sure if the tiredness is due to pregnancy or being up half the night trying to stop my ds screaming.

Still no symptoms for me either - last time I had really sore boobs and had to get up during the night to go to the loo. Though last pregnancy was IVF so I was taking lots of hormone injections to sustain the pregnancy, and who knows what they do to your body?

We found out that ds was a boy - a teeny bit of me was disappointed it wasn't a girl (so I couldn't do the pretty dresses thing), so I was glad to know beforehand. And it certainly didn't spoil anything on the day he was born, there's so much going on when you give birth that I didn't miss having the 'its a boy' announcement. This time round I think we'll find out again, though weirdly I'd be really happy with another boy. As CSWS says, I've got so many clothes that aren't worn out at all and could do with a second wearing. If it is a girl this time, she'll be wearing a lot of blue & brown!

I must have been more tired than I thought last night, to have written 'there's' instead of theirs blush. Am a bit of a pedant, and hate that it will be there forever now!

What time do you get up in the mornings A&M? I couldn't go to bed at 9pm on a regular basis, whether pregnant or not! I guess that might in part be due to the fact that dd only goes to bed at 8ish, so I'd have no time to myself.

the suspense of waiting for the arrival of the baby to dins out what sex it is would kill me!! i am so impatient, at least finding out in advance you can be prepared iykwim like if a different sex to what yo already have you have to go and get diff coloured vests etc and names!! i am already convince i am having anohter boy so have already started thinking about names. i like Damian but everyone keeps doing the Omen theme tune at me!! so i will be fiding out the sex and not leaving the table till they tell me!!! grin

feeling queesy today but prob due to excessive eating of sweets!!!

for those who are concerned about symptoms, do not worry they will come, every pregnancy os different. i have been moaning about lack of symptoms since finding out, if it were not for the double lines on the preg test i still would not believe it though my main give away is my atrocious diet!! usually very healthy but the thought of a salad right now mortifies me!!! bring on the Big Macs!! grin

sambrands- at least you have a social life!!! enjoy it while you can, just say you are on medication for a sinus infection or something! i had a tiny glass of white wine at my dps mums house as she does not know yet and did not know what to say and a quarter glass wine should be ok, not even a unit.

phew I found you - was just going to post and say I am finding driving weird too but think is low blood sugar cos I can't get my eyes to focus on the road on the way home - beware if you live in hertfordshire wink

I am going to a wedding tomorrow but am driving so should be fine and my family know anyway - Mum is hoping I'll want to go home early so she can too hmm. Have not even bought a new outfit which is very strange for me - am trying to save money so I can afford highlights and lipglosses when am no longer earning grin

Morning all. Thought it was strange that everyone had gone quiet on the other thread! I've had a very productive morning. DS beside himself at 9 so put him back to bed. He's still asleep grin
I've cleaned the bathroom, wiped the dining room floor, hung out some washing, put some other washing on and labelled photos ready to put in photo album. [Smudgey polished halo and gets herself a well earned cup of tea]
The whole not drinking thing is a bit weird for me. Still BF DS (only once a day now as he's gone off me, well my milk anyway) so hadn't really started drinking again anyway. I reckon I'll just say that I'm driving for the next couple of months.
AandMs mum, I hope you're still tucked up in bed. Do your DDs sleep in in the morning or do you just function on not much sleep?
I don't think we'll find out the sex. Didn't last time round so have plenty of neutral little baby clothes. All seems so recent, I can't get my head round that we're doing it again.

when i had my ds i went for a 3d scan at 28 weeks . oh it was so lovely seeing his wee nose and cute wee fingers and toes then my mum turned round and said oh its a boy !!!

up until that point i was not going to find out as i wanted it to be a surprise but the whole way during the scan i was thinking is it a boy is she right then my mum and mil let the room and i told my husband that we had to find out as it would have driven me mad and i needed to know sowe found out .

to be honest i was a bit upset as i have always wanted a girl but then i loved the thought of having a boy and was so excited grin

this time i would love a girl but would also love another boy as i think there so affectionate .

at the end of the day as long as it is healthy i will be happy because its half me and my dh winkgrin

has ayone done the wedding ring on a thread test ???

i done it and every time it says a boy and a girl and the same with my dh hmm

<phew> found you! smile

feeling a lot better today, still achy and painful at times, but it feels more "normal" than scary - so leaving it be for now!

as for sex of the baby i have a 2y4m DS and really do not mind either way (dont plan to have anymore, so if i was to have a girl, this would have to be it) however i really really really am impartial, i feel i cant lose either way smile i will either have another gorgeous boy, or the new experience of a girl grin - i wont be finding out until birthday!

CSWS, I love your pedantry. I'm a book editor and DH is a magazine editor, so I live in the house of pedants! I'm eating the dictionary so that the bean will come out spelling perfectly grin.

I'm impatient too, and definitely want to know the sex, although DH doesn't, but I'm working on him, as I won't be able to keep it to myself. Don't really mind either way as long as it's cute healthy.

Good luck with the scan, Julezboo smile.

Welcome Mommymummytobe!

Hi Everyone. Glad to find the new thread, I cannot believe the old one filled up so quickly!

I'm requesting a fingers crossed from everyone as I have my 8 week scan tomorrow morning. All was okay at the 6 week one, heartbeat and all that but I have a problem with recurrent m/c so very anxious....and I've m/c after positive scans in the past. Sorry for the very non-positive vibes finding it a bit tough at the mo sad

hi to everyone-- thanks for the welcome! i'm feeling ok, this is my first, so don't have much to compare it to, but am a bit nauseous (off and on) and MUST EAT SOMETHING every few hours-- the usual scenario i hear. finding comfort in the nausea (and sore bbs), b/c it reminds me that all's going to plan.

lozza, i'm having another scan tomorrow too (i'm 8 1/2 weeks), and sending thriving, healthy thoughts to your LO.
I'm feeling nervous as well *fingers crossed for me, too*, we had some infertility issues prior to this pg, so I just want to get past this trimester and be able to breathe and know that everything's ok!

Feels nice to know fellow MN-ers close by - maybe it is you I have seen in the gym or Tezzys grin. Actually there was a VERY pg woman in my gym this week and I found myself staring at her belly gobsmacked unable to believe that might be me one day...she must have thought I was some kind of changing room weirdo blush. She was short like me and I was thinking god I'm going to look like a mini santa (minus the beard) grin

Hi to all.

Hoping everyone is well (or as well as can be expected!)

Feeling okay today, unfortunately no lies ins in my house eldest dd has school and youngest doesn't know the meaning of the word!

I'm glad I'm not the only one that can only eat junk food at the moment, I'm really trying hard not to be a total pig but the rate I'm going i'll have put on 5 stone by the end of my pregnancy!!

Got a call from my midwife today and my scans booked for 25th March, really long wait but I'm looking forward to it, it's nice to make sure that I've not imagined it all...

Hi mommymummytobe good luck with your scan tomorrow x

smudgy I thought the same about the other thread going quiet! I've only just found you now!

Hi mommymummytobe! I just came across you on the expats thread! I'm also 8 1/2 weeks!

So the other day I decided I needed to start eating healthier - no more mid-afternoon cornershop runs for chocolate covered raisins and Cool Ranch Doritos (both at the same time!!!). Would you believe since I've been on my health kick I've felt and even looked worse!!! My skin is an awful ashy color and I've got spots suddenly sad Maybe the fat was doing me good????

Feeling fine though - other than sore boobs, which feel less sore today than the past few weeks. And tired, but I think it has more to do with me not getting to bed at a decent time than anything else. Before I was PG midnight was perfectly acceptable, now I definitely feel it the next day if I'm not in bed before 11.

Hi all, I'm feeling really tired today too.... We've been out to visit some friends from my (dd's) ante-natal group, so there were 7 crazy 8mth olds crawling around in one tiny room! One of the girls there is due her dc2 in August, so I was tempted to tell everyone, but managed not to - I just don't feel I dare till we've had the 12-week scan.

Maybe a silly question, but is it different areas that do 6/8 week scans or is that just if you have had previous issues? I thought it was only a 12 week one, and certainly haven't been offered anything else? Seems a long way away as we're only 5+1. This pregnancy seems to be really dragging, unlike last time smile

Welcome mommymummy (if you plan to stick around across the whole of MN, you might want to consider a more unique moniker with greater longevity).

Ekka - what is your due date? Most HAs offer scans in line with NICE guidelines, which means one at 12 weeks, and one at 20 weeks. Some people will additionally get earlier scans, usually because of a history of miscarriage/ectopic pregnancy, or other complications.

It's a good job I don't suffer from morning sickness really, as dd chucked her guts up in M&S this afternoon, and am quite sure it would have been enough to set me off if I did.

Not sure what Tezzy's is PP, so I guess it's not me you've seen there, but I'm in very North Herts - whereabouts are you?

Good luck for all the scans tomorrow.

mommy - technically not poss to have the same name as someone else, but as nearly everyone on the site is a mum, it doesn't tell anyone anything about you, and names like yours tend to be both forgettable and often in the firing line in chat. Since you are new I thought I'd let you in on this before you find out the hard way grin.

A lovely shiny new thread. smile

Good luck for all the scans tmw- no doubt it's nerve wracking but on the uside think how relieved you'll be afterwards...

I think i live in a rubbish health authority-I probably won;t get my 12 week scan until closer to 13/14 weks, as there's been no word yet. envy at all you ladies who have their appointments organised months in advance!I don't actually hear from a midwife until then, and after booking in regular apointments are few and far between until about 30 weeks! We're paying for a 20 week scan this time, and we'll probably find out the sex. I'd like another girl as it seems more familiar and less like starting from scratch again, iyswim... A boy would mean a whole lot of shopping though... grin

I'm gradually managing to sneak some fruit and veg back into my diet, after weeks of processed junk. I'm absolutely shattered all the time, and bad food can't be helping.

Apologies in advance for the rant I'm about to have, but I am sooo angry.

I had the most horrendous GP visit last night. I've found him a little peculiar on previous occasions, but just put it down to his being a bit old fashioned (he's at least 70) but last night he outdid himself. He refused to answer any of my questions with a straight answer, got really tetchy when I asked him for something a bit more specific that 'normal' when I asked what my blood pressure was, and when I finally got so frustrated I told him I was finding his patronising manner very difficult, he basically told me I was over-anxious and 'had an agenda' and that 'we call that projecting'. He refused to explain why he couldn't just post the referral letter to the hospital (ie why I had to take time off both to pick it up and hand deliver it to the hospital), and asked me if I was 'still working'. And 'why was I here at 6.00', as ante-natal appointments should take place in the morning.

Oh, and he practically accused me of neglect because I've lost another pound of weight, despite the fact that I'm eating like a horse (which I always do anyway).

Anyway, this is just a small taster of how completely weird he was. Fortunately, I'd asked DH to come in with me, so I had someone to witness how utterly bizarre the whole thing was, and not just a figment of my hormonal imagination.

I know the whole thing is laughable, and I should just dismiss it as the joke that it is, but I was really upset, and when I cried in frustration, he starting going on about how 1000s of women had babies every day and mine would be fine (not in reassuring way, but in the most patronsing way imaginable), and ended up by saying that after all the most important thing was the baby. At which point, despite knowing that sarcasm would be totally lost on him, I said 'Of course, how selfish of me to get upset', and demanded the he just stop talking and give me the referral letter. Then I took keys from DH and sat in the car while he waited for the letter.

I feel like one of those women who were committed to an asylum at the turn of the 20th century for having the temerity to have an opinion.

But I do feel a bit better now for putting it all in writing smile.

Daisyj, your doctor sounds horrendous. Is he your normal GP? Can you swap to someone else? If it's any consolation, I only saw my GP once during my first pregnancy. After seeing him at 5 weeks pregnant, I then only saw the midwives and didn't see the GP again until the 6 week post-natal check. So perhaps you won't have to see him again for a while...

Good luck to Julezboo, Lozza70 & mommymummy / peanut for your scans this morning. Really hope all goes well and you see that strong heartbeat.

ilovebeinglazy I feel your pain. As I sit here my jeans are cutting across my hips and into my stomach and my underwire is killing me! - I'll be 9 weeks tomorrow and I didn't expect this to all happen so early on sad

Feeling not so hot today. Very tired - even though I got to bed at a decent hour last night - and kind of crampy. Funny thing, I don't feel in the slightest worried about the cramps as I've some form of them from the very beginning. I've attributed them to stretching and in the absence of any morning sickness, they make me feel like they're a symptom! Maybe I'm mad!?!?!?
Contact the poster Contact mumsnet about this post By caramelbunny on Fri 29-Feb-08 15:43:30
Hi Sarah

I did same as CSWS and didn't tell people first time then told them after m/c. Seemed unfair not to share good news when they end up hearing bad news. Told close friends last time and this time as need support if things should go wrong.

Have also had lots of pains this week, more of a pulling feeling. Am hoping they're a good sign and mean that stretching and growing happening.
Contact the poster Contact mumsnet about this post By SARAHandTINY on Fri 29-Feb-08 15:52:54
Cool maybe i'll tell a few more people then as I'm going mad keeping this a secret!
Glad I'm not the only one with pain too smile i feel sorry for all those with sickness. I do feel tired but not nauseous in the least, just incredibly HUNGRY. For CHOCOLATE!! (i was hoping that craving would away) (I must be carrying a girl)

Think that ia m either 4/5 weeks or 6/7 weeks.
How early can you get a BFP after your period is due?

when was the first day of your last period? Usually can get BFP within 1 week of first missed period

Just wanted to say hi - don't always have much time to catch up with thread. Am 8wks tomorrow and am so sick! Head aches, throwing up, knackered - am ecstatic about being pregnant as took a long time and had mc before as well but oh, it's hard to look after a toddler when you feel this rough! She's watching far too much tv and eating junk cos too ill to cook! Thank goodness it should only last a few weeks as all my usual parenting standards are going out the window.
Contact the poster See this person's profile Contact mumsnet about this post By pistachio on Fri 29-Feb-08 20:49:11
sprogster- dd was treated to a tesco beanburger for lunch as i couldn;t face cooking anything for her! I feel guilty but know it'll wear off soon and i'll be abck on kitchen duty with glee (cooking's one of my favourite things, and I've been missing it these last few weeks..)

CSWS- you made me laugh on my teething thread earlier. I realise i must sound like such a part-time sahm sometimes, but dh just loves having dd all to himself. If i'd had more earning power he'd probably have stayed home instead of me, as i'm a bit rubbish at it. grin

Welcome new ladies. Donbean- my bfp was about 4 days before period was due.

Hi donbean - long time no speak. We used to be on the SW threads a few years ago when I was 'Tabs' didn't we? You can get a +ve test on the day your period is due, or sometimes even before.

Welcome also moodywren. 3 under 3 - wow!

Had my second midwife appointment today. Didn't really do a lot - just filled out my blood forms, and booked GTT test. Bloods are being done next Wedns - someone remind me!

Hello everyone! just posted a panic thread in pregnancies (i think) and thought i'd say hi here too. Think i'm due end of October. Found out pg today. Bit of a shock. We were just going to see how things would go and, famous last words, they have gone with a bang!!! DD is only 5 months old, and will be about 13 months when dc2 is born.

we're very pleased but a little shell-shocked to say the least. DD took about 18 months of 'seeing how things went', and we obviously do it a lot less now!! Sorry tmi.

Anyway, hope to get to know you all better - there are so many of you! Isn't it great?! Congratulations. It's the beginning of a huge adventure.

Hi All,

Sorry i've been absent for a few days. So much has haopopened here since i last looked - had to go to stirling yesterday in horrendous weather and took me about 5 hours to get home with all the trees down across roads and stuff.

Jules - so gutted for you, can't believe after all you've been through that this has to happen and bless you for thinking of us and wishing up well!!

I had scan on thurs and phew - its not twins as i feared and good heartbeat and big blog. Right for dates so due date is still 1st oct. Am expanding rapidly and not sure how long i can hide it for. One of the admin staff at work has noticed (she did last time) and she nodded and my belly and winked!! I had to run off before i started grinning at her!!!

Got to go and paint the front door (oh joy) and get ready for eurovision song selection tonight - (slightly ironic) yipee

I don't feel preg at all!!!! Last time my boobs were so sore, but nothing right now. I'm off to spain on mon so it's just as well my sickness hasn't started yet. I know all pregs are different, and hope this one will be a lot better than before! Espec as i have my 5 month old to lug about. No lifting? no chance!

How i everyone feeling? I'm just getting all my preg books out again - i had packed them up to give to a friend but she can jolly well buy her own now!I remember last year every day seemed sssssssss long. And checking each time i went to the loo was a nightmare. xx

Thanks to Sambrads and Prepg for their sympathy. I was huge last time and it really showed as i'm only 5'2". But i think one reason for my bloating is that I've got a UTI. drinking loads of cranberry juice and generally lying around living up to my username.

See there is lot of debate over when to tell. My strategy at this stage is to tell a few key people cos its so fun to share but not so many that it would be difficult doing all the rounds calling if anything went wrong iyswim. So I've told three good friends and my mum and dad. DH has told nobody yet.

Not planning on telling my 2yr old ds for a long time

Hi to all the new joiners on the the thread.
