hey blobsmummy - i'm going with the urine infection. pre-eclampsia signs don't usually show (except for high bp) before week 20 as the placenta isn't mature by then - so i was told last time and also this time.

also apparently if it was an early wee of the day or if you had done it and it was anything more than 45 mins old the protein can increase rapidly - so they told me last time i was at the hospital!!!

sweetbean - let it all out - sounds like you have lots going on to be thoroughly p'd off about apart from having hormones going mad in pg!

all ok here not much to report, hope everyone else all ok

hayley how're you feeling now?

Hi

Haven't been on for a few days, computer has been playing up, finally got it to work! Things have been busy and builders started doing work on our house yesterday so it's going to be a bit hectic but worth it once it's done and will hopefully get rid of our slug problem when the house is done properly.

Have started feeling the baby move, wasn't sure the last few days but definitely felt it today. Managed to get a second hand moses basket off someone for free which i'm pleased about. Hope everyone else is ok.

I have a genuine question: Is there a protocol for being an 'accepted' member of the Antenatal Club, besides your due date? Should you ideally have to live in the UK or be from the UK or have lived in the UK previously? Is it preferred that it is your first baby? Does one have to comment on the last five or six posts before one can contribute what is going on with them in order to expect a response? Sometimes I feel like I am speaking a different language to everyone else - or maybe it is just the timezone I am posting in ...

Hello Aussie! Everyone is welcome. I don't always comment on previous posters and I don't always get comments on my posts. Being a regular elsewhere on MN I don't feel neglected though! It's probably true that the more you post and the more you ask about other people, the more response you will get.

I see you're due the day before me - have you had a scan & met a midwife? Tell me about antenatal care in Aus (you must be sick of hearing what happens in the UK)!

Damn your eyes, i came here to post on a nice clean thread, only to find I am WAY too slow

AussieSim - there are no rules. I am very lazy and hardly ever post on this but enjoy reading other people's posts.

IndigoBlue - we are (hopefully) moving into a new house in january and it needs craploads of work done to it. i am starting to panic that we wont' get it done before the wee one arrives adn I will give birth as the builders step over me, pausing only to wipe the dust from my fanjo.

On a more regular note - I think my tummy is starting to get hard, which is nice. Had midwife's appointment yesterday and heard the heard the heartbeat so all is fine. Otherwise I have a stinking cold and am eating lots.

WW xx

AussieSim - Hope you aren't feeling left out, don't think those things are true. When people ask questions about stuff they probably get more responses than when talking about how things are going generally but doesn't mean we don't read those posts or aren't interested.

Walkingwomb - I know what you mean about wanting the work done, we are still waiting to find out if we need planning permission for part of it which will really drag out the work if we do.

Hayley&baby - re the piles I would definitely go to the gp if they are bothering you & bleeding etc as they might be able to help and if you leave it they may get worse the more pregnant you get as the baby starts putting more pressure on that area. It's common to get them in pregnancy so don't suffer without getting it checked out.

Aussie you are definitely welcome. I think posts get lost in the pages as there always seems to be a flurry of them at once. I asked a question a while ago and no-one replied sad but I think it was down to my post being drowned out by lots of others. I found the answer elsewhere on MN in the end smile

btw, this is mt first post on here for ages <waves frantically> 'hallo everyone!'

All well this end as far as I can tell. Still getting some MS but no way near as bad as earlier. Sitting here getting little kicks already at 14+2 lucky me grin

aussisim - sorry if you feel neglected, im sure its not intentional on anyones part xx

coby - glad your ms is getting sligtly better - hopefully it will go all together soon!!

got my barts test tomorrow, i hate giving blood. am hoping that they will use the doppler and listen in as they didnt last time i went (12 weeks) but my friend who has the same midwife team has been having them lsiten since 12 weeks, (which i didnt know at the time of my app or i would of demanded they try listen!!)

hope everyne else is ok, and yes i enjoyed my lie in thankns, cant remember who it was that asked!! xxxx

Thanks for your supportive posts. Sorry about being a bit 'me me me' and I know that threatened miscarriage and SPD are far bigger worries than mine. It is just that I am feeling a bit vulnerable 3rd time round being older. I only have a couple of weeks to decide whether I want to go ahead with the Amnio (my DH would rather I did but would not try force me), my hair is falling out in clumps and I've put on 4kg am only 13 weeks along I am also a bit worried about how DC3 will cope with having to be dragged around after DS1&2's commitments and all anyone around me seems to be worried about is whether it will be a girl or not angry and what names we are thinking of. In this case I am truly only concerned that it is healthy and that I will cope with 3.

Oh Aussie!
There are no small worries!!! The prospect of an amnio would send any of us spinning. Sorry you feel let down!!
How old arre you? Why the amnio? Can't you have the CVS sampling at this stage?
Did you have a scarry reading with the nuchal?
Don't you start spoiling your joy with the weight now angry
Don't want to scare you but you're going to be so knackered running after 3 kids when this one is born taht it will fall off in no time.
Of course you will cope. the first 2 will help grin

Aussiesim, often posts are not answered, I think everyone just manages to read them and then posts. RE: Amnio - when do you have to decide? Would you do something if there was a problem?

I had a perfectly average pregnancy, told my baby was healthy and perfect turns out that wasn't the case when I had my daughter in 2000. She had dislocated hips, knees, various problems with joints, cleft palate and other thinsgs. Now looking back would I have terminated maybe, but now looking at my beautiful little girl who yes still has most of those problems. I wouldn't change her for the world. I know other people are different, but I thought my baby would be heathly no reason to think otherwise.
I am going through this pregnancy knowing that there is a 1 in 4 chance of it happening again, but praying it doesn't. Coping with 2 children in a wheelchair is impossible.

Glad everyones scans are going well.

Sorry for the long post

Hi Slim22 and Mitchell81. To answer a few questions: I will be 39 when I have DC3. I need to decide about the amnio within the next 2 weeks. It would be super hard, but having consideration for my DH's feelings on the matter as well as the impact on DS1 and 2 I would terminate if I had a child with a syndrome (not for cleft palate and things of that nature). My NTS was 1:1897 which is not low risk and I was discouraged from a CVS as chance of miscarriage are higher for that procedure than for the Amnio.

I probably wouldn't be in this quandry if I hadn't read a thread on here about a mum with a NTS result of 1:5000+ who went on to have a DS Baby (and I told my DH about it).

All this worry is probably why my hair is falling out (Hi MrsStresshead - I kinda feel better that I am not alone)

I have always managed DS1 and 2 to a fairly rigid schedule and the result is two very secure and easy going kids who give me no trouble, but I know that I will not be able to do the same thing with the third as I will be running DS1 to school, sport etc and DS2 to pre-school etc and DC3 will just have to fit in around them ...

Don't get me wrong though, this baby was very much planned and I am thrilled to be pregnant. I know I will manage whatever happens but .... only human and all that.

Hi Aussie,

I'm in a similar situation to you in that when No3 is born I will have DD1 who will have just turned 4 and DD2 who will have just turned 2.

They already have their set things that they do routinely and I did give some thought / panic to how I might find time for the baby too. I have decided that newborns like nothing better than the hustle and bustle of a busy house - especialy if there are older ones to watch and try to copy. This one will have to be thrown in the car in the middle of a nap etc becuase it is time to do the preschool pick up or school run but I think it probably won't mind that much. The one thing I'm not sure about is how to handle swimming with 3, I keep telling DD2 she'll have to learn doggy paddle by May grin

PS - you are allowed to be all 'me me me' right now as you can blame it all on the hormones and get away with itwink

I will be 2 wks off my 39th birthday when DC4 is born. My nuchal was 1 in 350 which I'm actually quite happy with. DC3 was 1 in 80 and she's just fine (and I was only 35 then). I didn't have further tests done for her and I'm not this time either. Downs or spina bifida etc would be challenging with 3 other DCs but we'd manage.

Subsequent babies do fit into existing routines - because they have to. The first couple of months can be gruelling, they want feeding or changing just as you're leaving for school or they cry through an entire swimming lesson. I try hard to allow extra time for these emergencies and not try to fit too much in to a single day. DD1s class mums are fantastic and they'll be doing my school run for me for the first couple of weeks. I'm also hoping that this baby arrives during half-term! And I'm buying extra uniform so there is always something clean for school! grin And it all passes soon enough. (How I wish DC4 could arrive as a 2yo, I'll take toddlers over babies any day!).

Hi Everyone.

Aussie- Personally, I totally refused the blood tests for downs. If I had had them I wouldn't have an amnio. I would never terminate. I love my baby whether it's perfect in every way or has a disability. Only time will tell. But I'm only 22. I understand why people have them, particularly when they have other children to care for. I don't think it's a good idea. 1 in 100 people miscarry due to amniocentesis and I would never want to be one of those people. There's always errors that could result in the termination of a healthy baby. It adds stress to a pregnancy. I think the best thing is to chill, enjoy your baby and your pregnancy, and not test it for problems there may never be. It's too uncertain. But that's just me. I don't judge anyone who does do it.
Also, I'm sorry you've felt a little left out. I suspect it's partly because people tend not to want to comment on amnio as it's such a difficult decision for a mummy to make. I was a little shy on this thread at first but now I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT grin

Jacobandlysette- I'm fine thanks!! My bump has gone mental in the past week or so. It's really hard and really big and I look very pregnant! My headaches have gone but I still have my embarressing problems (piles and bloating blush). I will visit the doctor Indigoblue, thanks. No matter how embarressed I get blush

Welcome to the new people. Especially Snooks- i think we've nattered on another thread at some point.

Duchess- so glad your scan went well. We can't stop looking at our scan pics grin

Hope everyone's well smile

Hi Aussie,

I have spoken to you about this before but I am not having the amnio, even though my screening results were 1 in 50. (Well I am 99.9% sure I am not having it done.) I am 16 weeks this week so will need to decide if I do pretty soon. I will be 41 by the time this one arrives and TBH I am feeling pretty ancient. All my friends are past the child bearing stage so hoping to meet some new people once the LO arrives. DD and DS will both be in school next Sept...

hi everyone and all new people - sorry i have such a preg head i cna't remember anything 2 mins after i have read or heard it. also bloody knackered right now too.

Aussie sorry if you have been feeling left out! I felt a bit left out on my ante natal and then post natal thread when i was due in september 2006, and then as DS was born early i switched to july 2006 post natal thread and clicked really quickly! As someone observed on that thread recently they had looked back and seen everyone talking on the thread and no one listening, sometimes. It's perfectly normal as we all get caught up in our own issues etc a little and sometimes questions etc can get missed. It's not intentional smile

On the other side of the downs thing my DH works with a woman that was given an ultra high risk reading with all pregnancies, and got re scanned privately and got the completely other end of the scale reading. all her dc's were fine as well. You have to just do what you feel comfortable with re the amnio i guess.

i have a friend who is 41 and has 4 dc's, the oldest of which has just turned 4 shock - the two youngest are twins and absolutely thrive in the busy hectic house.

anyway, enough of me prattling on - hayley def get to the docs, and hope everyone is all feeling ok.

My NTS was 1:1897 which is not low risk and I was discouraged from a CVS as chance of miscarriage are higher for that procedure than for the Amnio.

aussi - i just wanted to say after readig some of the posts after yours today...do what you feel comfortable with with the amnio, i know many people would disagree, but like you, despite how hard a decision it would be and one i wouldnt wish on anybody, i would also terminate if i had a child with a syndrome, as i personally know that i would be completely unable to cope and i dont feel it would be fair on the child for me to know i couldnt cope and continue with the pregnancy. but everyone is different, and only you can know if you are prepared to take the risk with the amnio and go ahead. good luck with whatever you decide and everyone will be here to support whatever decision you make, i just wanted you to know that i would feel the same in that situation xx

Hi all,

Sorry I have been AWOL but working full time and having DS have just left me with no time! I sit at a PC all day so am not keen to do it in the evenings as well

Aussieim - don't worry - I get ignored all the time just post away and enjoy the thread. Everyone else has said much wiser things

Hi again cece, DS is just over a year now - there will be an 18 month gap- eeek!

Hi to the new people too - Binkyanne, if it's not too rude a question, where abouts in Essex are you? Im in Colchester...

Have my first consultant appointment tomorrow - think I am going the same way as with DS and have excess fluid probs - I am huge already. This probably means I will either be induced or have an elective section at 38 weeks not what I wanted but as long as we are both safe and healthy...

Had my triple test bloods done today - ouch

Hope everyone is ok

Thanks everyone for your supportive comments. I am going to be going ahead with the Amnio trusting that the odds of a miscarriage are actually quite a bit lower than the standard that is quoted in texts. It is usually 1 in 100 for CVS and 1 in 300 for Amnio, but all that improves with a dr who does them very frequently and has a good track record. I am telling myself that with four of us in the family already that I have to look at the big picture and listen to my head over my heart. I have plenty of friends who have had CVS and Amnio and no one has had anything but healthy babies so far (knock on wood).

Hi aussie.
Glad you made up your mind. fingers crossed, everything will be fine. As you say it's a routine procedure for a good ob-gyn.

Cece, Had all my 1st preg scans at the fetal medicine centre. They are the best you can get. There is currently a thread with info in pregnancy section. Have a look.

welcome bikyane.

Take care

aussie glad you have made your decision and that you arecomfortable with it.

cece at our hospital all scans are done in the fetal medical centre - they are absolutely superb and i have found i feel more relaxed than being down in the hustle and bustle of the ante natal area.

Hello all!
It's been a rollercoaster of a week. Scan at 12+4 on Monday - my bladder was almost too full but they managed to get a couple of pictures, count fingers and thumbs and we saw a veritable jumping bean - I didn't expect it to move quite so much! Cue lots of happy calls to friends and family and letting the team at work know.

Unfortunately I started bleeding yesterday early evening and I'm waiting for a scan later today to confirm the situations. Trying to keep calm. Bleeding didn;t last long and although I ache I have no pains. The rash is still a bugger though.

I am supposed to make a booking on 13 Dec for more blood tests (spina bifida, Downs etc) but I can't think about that now.

Just a quick message so this comes up on "my threads" thingy.

Had m/w appt on Tuesday, but she'd forgotten to put me in!

Anyway it took almost 10 minutes to find the heartbeat which was a bit concerning. But she got it eventually. then I laughed and baby must've scotted off again. M/w said it was because I'm on no3 and everything is so stretched that baby has more room to hide in hmm ho hum.

Have also been getting braxton hicks , which I'm a bit concerned about becuase I'm only 18 weeks - I don't think they're meant to start until about 6 months, so I might start a thread on that.

Countdown to central heating continues - just under 2 weeks now. Solar panels are coming next week hopefully! Then stove and radiators - no more coal shovelling!! the dishwasher my parents are getting us for Christmas arrived last week too, but it won't get plumbed in til the heating gets done. It's going to change my life!

SPD twinges have started already when I do too much - like put all the playgroup equipment away - I'm so stupid! so i'll have to do nothing from pretty much now on if I want to escape the worst of it. Easier said than done.

Now I understand the women who don't really enjoy pregnancy - I didn't before no3 - I've always loved being pg!

I am feeling a squirmy baby now though so that's something smile

Best wishes to all, so for not replying name by name - I'm so rubbish at that!

Just found this thread whilst fiiddling about doing the bookclub page. Can't believe what a gang of us there are - I am due May 6th. Which just happens to be my son's 2nd birthday - I'm guessing its not the present he's got in mind, but hey ho.
Maybe both birthdays on same day might be a blessing. Joint parties = house only trashed once a year, albeit on a grand scale...

Hello all,

good luck for your scan later today ginger, really hope all goes well, keep us posted won't you.

Thanks to anyone who has welcomed me too! There are lots of names on this thread, all with different situations and I am not up to speed yet - however, got several months to get to know you all grin

Slim & boabsmum- now it's my time to reassure you. I've also being having braxton hicks, but I did from around this time with both ds1&2 and everything was fine there. I never worry about bh because amongst friends only about 50% of us seem to ever have them anyway, and those that do have them at differing times during the pg. I always wonder what the point of them is anyway - those of us who have already got a dc know that they are NOTHING like a proper labour contraction. Mountain versus molehill springs to mind. Or something.

Glad your mw visit went ok in the end boabsmum, I did wonder. The mw listened to the hb at 15 weeks with me and the baby kept moving away and hiding from her. I get the impression it's floating around in a huge void in there (like a spaceman hmm), occasionally bumping into the sides which is when I can feel it.

Anyway, better go. Talk to you all soon smile

My friend is having the triple blood tests soon, she's four weeks ahead of me. What's it like haing it done, where do they inject you? Silly question I know but never had it done before with my other 2.

Speak soon. xx
Contact the poster Contact mumsnet about this post By boabsmum on Thu 22-Nov-07 13:47:41
Thanks snooks and slimsmile

Gingerwench - SPD is Symphisis Pubis Dysfunction which is where the relaxing hormones that everyone gets when they're pg go a bit haywire. Basically the muscles in your pelvis get so relaxed that your pelvis starts to separate. For me it feels like your hips are in a vice and you've done several rounds being kicked where it hurts by a donkey.

Not nice sad

But I was thinking back to my last pg, and by 18 weeks I was unable to manage stairs - particularly going downstairs, but so far so good. It's only painful after I've been lifting heavy things or pushing a shopping trolley or buggy.

It's early days yet, but the fact that I know it's worlds apart from last time its cheering me up and giving me a bit of hope that I might get off lightly this time.

There's a mum at toddler group who's expecting in Feb and she's on crutches already sad

Hi everyone, in a bit of a rush because I'm doing a presentation for my PGCE tonight. I was just wondering, my back is really sore, and I feel like it's stuck and I can't move it most of the time. I'm walking a bit weird and I can't lie or sit back and relax as it's really painful and can't seem to settle into the right positions. It makes funny crunching noises sometimes. Is this normal? Has anyone else had it? Is there a name for it? And will it get worse?

Sorry for the flying post and million questions blush

gingerwench thinking of you and hoping that you will be on soon to tell us all is well !!! xx

im still very depressed(can you get pregnancy related depression) or is it just hormones ? but I'm really looking forward to my scan tomorrow and keeping everything crossed that all is well !!

Had a bit of a blip last night as darling other half made me supper but .. cut the garlic bread up on the same board as he had the bacon and mushrooms without washing it shockso Que me in a complete flat spin having only realised after i had eaten it!!!!(thinking i might get toxoplasmosis)
Anyway i rang the MW this morning and she said not to worry and that the chance of getting anything was very minimal but I'm still panicking if i think about it to much sad

Anyway enough of my paranoia hope everyone else is fine XXXXX

Phew! relief all round..Thanks all for your concern. No apparent reason for the bleeding but apparently it's not unusual and it may continue to happen throughout pregnancy. The scan showed the heartbeat, fluid around the baby is fine, ovaries fine, no real reason for bleeding seen at all.

Boabsmum - SPD sounds grim - hope it eases up for you

Glad everything is okay gingerwench!

sweetbean - I was really worried about getting depressed about a month ago as I was so low all the time. However, I have started to feel better and my mood lifted. Also, I am really crap at remembering what not to eat (had a crayfish sandwich yesterday ). Do be careful but remember the risks are low.

I THINK i might have felt the baby last night but it is very early (only 16.5 weeks). It felt like a bubble bursting in my tummy. DH found me in the bath in shock. Surely this is much too early. I am not super slim or anything (was a regular size 12 before this) and have already started to look pregnant.

HI WW- I've been having exactly the same issues. I cannot stop myself eating prawn salad, which can't possibly be a good thing. I've also felt the baby from 11 weeks doing tiny flutters. Everyone said it couldn't be, and I wasn't sure myself, but those little flutters got bigger and bigger and now I know for definate it's the baby. Also, my bumps getting really large and baby looking, and it's rick hard. The other day, my DP pressed it, and it was similar to what you said- like a big bubble bursting. The weird thing is, my DP went 'Arrgh' and quickly pulled his hand away!!!! Then he said 'I felt the baby!!!' so I wasn't just being crazy after all!!! I say enjoy it smile

Hi all, not been on for ages again, just dont seem to get five minutes at the mo, Ds being very difficult at the mo, super clingy and whiny! Full moon tonight though hoping his mood will pass with that!!

I ahvent read back over all the posts as i know DS will wake up soon, but Aussie, this may be not much help but i was living in Aus when fell pregant with DS1, then returned to UK when around 20 wks, so have experienced both health care systems and found that in Aus the tests are pushed much more and we left our appointments with everyone there feeling really pressured into getting the tests, I am only 30. Here in UK they really leave it up to you more, maybe because there are free here and they dont want to do too many. But the decision is ultimatley yours and I suppose you have to think of what you would do if the tests did show something up?
On the point of haveing 3, everyone i know who has 3 or more kids say its no different to having 2, as it couldnt get any more manic and the 3rd+ always just seem to fit in and always seem to be the most chilled out person in the whole family!!

On a different note all together on the due date list, the age of the child allready here is that the age they will be when the baby comes? i just realaised DS has been 13 months for almost 2 months now!

Hi all, just to say thanks all, had a lovely trip to New York with my pal. Was worried about not being able to keep up with her, walking and shopping and sightseeing but only had one extra nap to her one day. first two days kept up ok, last two days really knackered, and have slept and done bugger all since getting back yesterday mroning ( well, just got unpacked!).
DD was fine about not seeing me, just mentioned me a couple of times the day I left, and DH is looking forward to being stay-at-home Dad when I go back after mat leave.
Bump has been well behaved, little flutterings to reassure me and getting strtching pains when trying to lug suitcase around.
Aussie- it mmust be tough following a thread over here, with us all talking about local issues, which may or may not be the same stuff you've got to deal with. I reply to some things, but find it hard too follow stuff at the top of the page- like the idea of copying and pasting bits I want to reply to- thanks for whoever it was who accitdentallt posted like that!
sweetbean- earlier on I was quite down and found the depressed threads- when my morning sickness and tiredness and life got better generally things brightened up, so hopefully for me it was just a bad few months and I've got through it for now. Hope things imrpove for you as the hormones settle, but don't be afraid to ask for help NOW if things don't improve. GP, midwife should be able to refer you for counselling if that might work for you? I can't recommend the depression threads enough, they really helped me.
Eating risky foods- can't remember who's worried about it but first time around I freaked out for a week after eating a brie sandwich. This time around I'm eating what I feel like, which sometimes includes ALL the forbidden stuff. I wouldn't buy any food that I thought would poison me, pregnant or not.I'm sure I'll find the energy to worry about something else ( well, I do worry about the radiation from flying....)
Sorry, another epic. Good luck all!

Hello again all, I've eaten a lot of seafood during the first trimester of each of my pregnancies. Mussels floating in lime juice was a big craving shock

Been to see my MW today as I had a 'slight incident' involving me slipping over in some mud and landing bump-first on the back of a dining chair. Didn't have any movements for 24 hours afterwards so MW called me in to check heartbeat and found it straight away - WOO HOO grin

Sweetbean - there is a thread for those with depression in pregnancy if you want to take a look. There is a lot of help out there IF you need it. Do you have any history of depression on anxiety? (feel free not to answer that if you'd rather not of course) Hope your scan went well today.

Sweetbean, do talk to someone. There is help and coping strategies. Look up the threads, you are not alone.

Hayley & Wwomb same thing here, have to be super carefull to avoid no go foods. (shellfish too & cheese)
It's amazing that you can feel baby so soon with 1st pgcy. Enjoy!

Been awake since 4 am for the second night. Can it be the full moon and all that xtra water in our body?

Also been having vivid dreams about family/childhood. Basically when I think of it, it translates into the usual unresolved issues/untold stories etc....
I'm not one for stirring up the past and I've made peace/moved on with most of it after having DS1 and interracting with him and asking my mon and others the questions that bothered me.
Can more experienced mums tell me if this is common with subsequent pregnancies?
Why is it resurfacing?

hayleyandbaby - where abouts in your back is the pain? if its low down at the base of your spine, could it be sciatica? that feels similar to waht you described, its also like shooting pains esp when you bend down/stand up/walk far etc. im suffering with it a lot this time.

gingerwench - glad evrything is ok after your worry

sweetbean - glad your scan went well, as for feeling depressed i think its perfectly normal, prob just like pre baby blues, but if it gets worse then defintely speak to somoene about it. i was taking medication for depression before i became pregnant and have had to come off it, but suprisingly after a few weeks of feeling awful, i feel fine now, so im hoping that im better and wont need to go back on them again after.

boabsmum - (and whoever else it was who had it, sorry) yourspd sounds awful i hope it clears up for you

jacobandlysetteandbump - pickled onions - im with you on that one. im really missing prawns but as someone else said ive not been so strict this time round and have had the odd few forbiden things!

walkingwomb - bubbles oopping most def is your baby, how exciting, isnt it the best feeling ever!

cece - my baby active today too, its great isnt it.

hope everyone is having a nice weekend - ive got friends coming round tonight and really need to start preparing dinner and tidying up but have absolutely no energy whatsoever!!

x

slim22 - I've had similar dreams to those you describe. I got them most with 1st preg, I had a lot going on for 2nd so sleep was lacking somewhat but I know I had them again then too. I've had them already with this one but I'm used to ignoring them by now. I just lay there thinking ' yeah, damn right - how could they etc etc' but I don't feel the urge to throttle certain family members any more than usual this time round.

On a light note. My Dp is most annoyed that most of the time it's only me who can feel the baby-wriggles, he's even said if he could he would carry the baby for the whole 9 months and even give birth!!! Bless

mrsstresshead- thanks, you are absolutely spot on, i think it must be sciatica from what you've said. I do get shooting pains down my arse cheeks too when i try to walk. Do you know if it gets worse? Or stays like this? I coughed a couple of days ago and nearly fell over because my back seemed to go. I don't think the pile blush cringe situation is helping either, that seems to be hurting inside my back too. The doctor said I can get them injected after I have the baby but I'm absolutely terrified of pushing to give birth and a huge pile popping out infront of everyone. That would be a complete nightmare.

I have caught a sickness bug off DPs Godson so I'm all sick and gross today. DP is coming to pick me up from work soon. He's being extra nice to me as I cried allllllllllllll night last night just because MIL said something joking that upset me and it started me off crying about everything that has annoyed me in the last 2 weeks or so!!! Irrational pregnant woman alert!! blush I have a phobia that everyone is going to take over when the baby's born.

Sweetbean- so glad your scan went well. I think we should have more!!!

Coby- hope your bump's feeling better, it's easy done isn't it? I'm clumsy so convinced I'm going to slip over anywhere and everywhere now I'm pregnant! I think bumps are more durable than we give them credit for. It's lovely that you got to hear the heartbeat.

Hope everyone's well smile

hayley - im not sure if it gets worse, i think you can get varying degrees of it, but i totally sympathise as i get it all day at work (i stand up and walk round all day - and also do a lot of bending and reaching, all of whch send it off!) and shooting pains in arse cheeks is part of it too! oh the joys of being pregnant! I have a feeling (altho memory is crap) that i didnt suffer with it for the entirety of my last pregnancy - so hopefully it should ease up for you soon? I think its to do with the baby lying on a nerve? altho i could be way off mark there - but if so it could get better when the baby shifts position hmm

xx

Sorry to interrupt ladies but it's that time of the month again! Are any of you in Merseyside and thinking about breastfeeding? Look here for details of an antenatal breastfeeding workshop this Thursday, especially for pg ladies. It's not a "sales pitch"; no one is going to try and "talk you into it"; it's more of a "how to" so that if you do go down the bf route, you'll be prepared once you've given birth.

And there's free biscuits. And tea. And coffee.

Hi everyone
Sorry I've been quiet for so long, didn't feel like i had anything interesting to add! The sickness has gone, but I am just so tired all the time, like I could sleep 9 hours a night then still be exhausted the next day.

I have another annoying symptom which is I've suddenly got bloody acne!! I didn't have this with my son, in fact my skin was lovely and clear with that pg, but this time it's awful, I look like a teenager and am getting really self conscious. I really wanted to take care of myself, exercise and look a bit "yummy' with this pg (as I put 4 stone on with the last oneshock, but so far it's not happening! Anyone else have this, or am I a freak?

Slim22, would love to meet up! We are coming home for Christmas smile (love saying that!) on December 13, maybe this week or next, when is good for you? Is your son in school or pre-school, can't remember if you said whereabouts you live?

Cheers all x

wolverina i've had a couple of terrible breakouts! but then i had that last time - i certainly didn't bloom with great skin, hair nails etc, until 24 hours after ds was born!!!

in the dreams note, i've been having "interesting" dreams about matthew king from emmerdale blush

anyway, off to hang my head in shame now

Wolverina, with ds1&2 my skin went from usual prone-to-greasiness (with only rare spots) to fairly dry and NO OIL. It was lovely smile This time around like you I have been plagued with spots. Getting a bit better now but during first trimester one day I counted 16 proper spots, not just pimples but big bumpy ba**ards which no amount of concealer would cover up - even if I did have the time/inclination to bother. Also horrid ms this time around, never even felt queasy with ds1&2. Weird huh?

Had a bit of a dream this morning about David Tennant (Dr Who) but I'm not complaining about that smile

Hi all,

Pee tests came back negative, so no urine infection after all. Told DH yesterday that I was a bit concerned that baby kicking isn't as much as last pg, but then baby proceeded to kick for 5 minutes non-stop - obviously in protest to me thinking it's a lazy LO!

I am 16+1 and my sister just had IVF and is 6+1. However, she didn't have anything to do with me at all between me getting pregnant and her getting pregnant(which caused major family rows and me getting high blood pressure, and put such a strain on our family in general, as well as me and my DP of 8 months who has put up with so much more than he should have to) and she's really weird with me now.
She seems to resent me (which she says she doesn't) and when i approached her she yelled that she feels like a failure and that she can't get pregnant just like that *finger snapping* she also said that I'll be able to go on to have loads of kids and she'll only have her twins.
She's negative about everything and she's worried sick she can't trust her body to have the babies. She won't even consider giving birth so she's having a CS.
I just don't understand why she's weird with me now or why she says she'll never be the same because of what she went through. Even though she says she doesn't resent me she really does seem to.
I know she's been through a lot and I've tried to understand but she's not having any of it and treats me like I'm a stupid, horrible person. I'm really frustrated with it as i'd like us to share the experience of our first pregnancy's together.

Has anyone else been through similar? If so, please could you explain? I know it sounds like I'm being stupid, but I have genuinely tried to understand and be sensitive but there seems to be something I'm missing? Am i really so far off the mark?

Hi Hayley, I'm so tired tonight what follows may not make much sense but I'll try (ds1 had us up at 4.50am to start the day sad).

The only experience I can offer is that of a friend who had 4 IVF attempts and 1 natural pg, the last IVF attempt happily resulting in a gorgeous healthy baby boy. My friend too completely distanced herself from any pg ladies and babies too - very understandable I think. She also gave birth by elective CS because of
