i went to a psychic reading session when i was preg with my DD and the psychic picked me out of the crowd and talked all about my family etc i knew he was talking crap however when he moved on without picking up on my pregnancyhmm i think there are some psychics who are genuinely talented and some who just want to take your money and tell you lies. i wouldnt put much emphasis on what she has told you until you get a BFP and even then it might just have been a lucky guess that a woman of child baring age with a baby might actually have another one in the future (shocker!!) and she has a 50% chance of getting the sex right so she might be talking out of her bumsmile if you dont want another child and are on the pill there is no reason to assume you could be preg unless you get a BFPsmile good luck

Wellllll

I had a reading in Oct 05, and the woman said i had a surprise coming around xmas, she then went on to say i had a little boy waiting for me and i would be pg soon iirc, she said he was waiting in the wings. Thats he would be born in summer and he would be big in size, and i would need to get to the hospital quickly.

My SIL was also approached at a mind, body and spirit fair by a lady who said, your SIL is pg with a boy who is going to be born in summer and he will be big.

I found out i was pg in the Dec (05) ds was born on 6th Aug, i was booked for elective section but went into labour a week early, and he was born weighing 9lb 6oz at 38 weeks.

So they were spot on for me grin

I went to see a psychic when I was 6 weeks pg with my 3rd child.

When I was there, she said, "You've got a dark boy and a blonde girl. Have you ever had a miscarriage or termination because I can see a third child here?" When I said no, she said, "You're going to have a blonde boy." She was right!

AF due on tuesday....watch this space

although have been wondering - I am on the pill - would i still get my period irrespective of whether i am pregnant or not because of the chemical nature of the pill? Or would my period disappear if i was pregnant?

thanks smile

tearinghairout -- at least three different people have told me I must be having twins this pregnancy (again -- no coercion, no motive, no showing off). They were all wrong. Had they been right, I might have been posting on here saying "Well, explain this then..."

psychiccynic -- I bet you she could have known who you were or if you were related, or had enough of an idea to risk mentioning your names. I don't look physically much like my mother but people know we are related because we tend to stand the same way and have similar vocal and body-language mannerisms. If your mother walked in and reminded her of you it would be worth a guess that you were in some way related.

There is some fascinating stuff about doing cold readings in Derren Brown's book.
Contact the poster Contact mumsnet about this post By HonoriaGlossop on Wed 27-Feb-08 22:37:32
I'll explain that for you tearinghair. She guessed; pretty short odds, it's basically either twins or a singleton, more than that is extremely rare. If it had not been twins you would have forgotten this encounter because it was just an insignificant guess. You've remembered it because it was a lucky guess (on pretty good odds) so it gathers significance for you, but it was still a guess.

Again, 'boy and girl, wasn't it?' is just the sort of social guess that you take when you can't quite remember someone but guess anyway. I mean, there were only a few options; girl girl, boy boy, boy girl; not great odds.

I was pregnant but not in any way showing, last time I had a reading and as soon as I walked through the door she said I was surrounded by babies!! Told me I was having a boy though - wrong there I had another girl. She was sooo right on a lot of things she said including all about my dd1 - things she loves doing etc and also that I have a baby on the other side. I love all that stuff. Def putting on threads watching!

I have been itching to find out!!!!

And now your mum's reading does add weight to the possibility it would seem.

You MUST let us know.

hehehe allgonebellyup, shall i keep you all waiting? wink

well....i have done a pregnancy test and it was negative (although it could be a recent conception wink)...will know more next month i guess

but (and a big but) my mum went to see the same psychic after my experience and apart from saying to my mum similar things as she said to me, she also said "do you know a K or a J?" (mine and dh names) "because they are soon to have another baby, a boy"

looks like i'm stuffed grin
oh and when you see psychic you just book in under first name, no surnames or anything and we dont look that alike, nor could she have known wo we were, let alone if we were related...

will keep you updated!

UPDATE NEEDED!!
Contact the poster See this person's profile Contact mumsnet about this post By tearinghairout on Fri 22-Feb-08 13:10:44
OK you lot - explain this then!
When I was pg I went into a charity shop & was looking through the rails. I was the only customer in the shop, and the woman wandered over & asked if I was looking for anything in particular. I said 'Maternity clothes' so she stood & looked with me. Then she said 'Twins, is it?' & I asked how she could tell - I wasn't enormous yet. She said that sometimes things just 'came' to her, it was as if she's like a radio receiver, getting info about people like tuning into a radio station. She didn't ask for it, and sometimes it was a real pain, but it just happened.

The she said 'Do you know what sex they are?' & I said 'No'.
'Do you want to know?' & again I said 'No'. She said 'Well, you won't be disapponted' & dropped the subject.

So, many, many months later I found myself, alone, in that part of town. I went in & said 'Do you remember...' etc but she didn't remember me. Then she looked at me & said 'Oh yes, a boy and a girl, wasn't it?' and carried on with what she was doing. She was right!

So, no coercion, no motive, no showing-off. I believe that my body 'knew' and that she read this in some way.

Something else; a graphologist once told me that she could tell if someone was pg from their handwriting - there is a little wobble that is to do with the mother being aware of the baby's heartbeat.

ROFL wanderingtrolley grin.

Given that a lot of the other information was correct, it's possible she's right.

The only way you will know for sure is to do a test.

i would definitely stop being a cynic if i were, but i might become an alcoholic instead grin - after baby boy born of course grin

she indicated that boy would be very silly and childish and i'd be left thinking will he ever grow up? (arent all boys like that? grin)
Contact the poster Contact mumsnet about this post By bookwormmum on Sun 17-Feb-08 20:56:37
Thinking about it, she has about a 25% chance of being accurate.

Supposing you are??? will you stop being a cynic then?? grin.

Even if you are pregnant it will be a coincidence.
Contact the poster Contact mumsnet about this post By redadmiral on Sun 17-Feb-08 20:55:59
Psychics work by being good readers of people. Have you seen Derren Brown doing the same thing? The things he told some people were amazingly accurate.
There is NO WAY she can know if you're pregnant - she may just have got some reaction from you when she talked around the subject. I wouldn't worry about it tonight. I'd put money on it that you're not, from what you've said.
Contact the poster Contact mumsnet about this post By psychiccynic on Sun 17-Feb-08 20:52:32
expat, you said "no" is that in response to my title do i believe a psychic or is that in response to my question are psychics wrong?

sorry to be so confusing smile

all shops are shut or don't sell pg tests, or i would do one right now....might buy one tomorrow though - if i still feel this irrational in the morning grin

sandyballs, i went on minipill soon after having dd which caused lots of breakthrough bleeding and we did have sex when i was on that (but that was in November grin)

and then went on my original tried and trusted pill and, ahem, not had much recently.

dd is only 6 months old though grin

dh would be very peed off if i were pregnant without much "practice" though grin

Do a test fgs.
Contact the poster See this person's profile Contact mumsnet about this post By WanderingTrolley on Sun 17-Feb-08 20:48:06
Did you pee on her and she turned blue?

No?

Then she is not an acurate pregnancy predictor.

Do a test if you think you'll worry.

I think a pregnancy test would be more scientific
Contact the poster Contact mumsnet about this post By psychiccynic on Sun 17-Feb-08 20:38:58
So, yesterday dh and I went to see a psychic, for no real reason other than we felt like it. The psychic we saw had been recommended by a few people to us and was very accurate in what she said (DH and I had seperate readings).

She correctly identified we had a young daughter, things about our work, our home, friends, relationship etc and was quite detailed..

however she told me that I would have another child "very close in age" to my dd (who is 6 months). I gave the the look of an absolutely horrified person (wink) and she said "I dont know what to advise if you dont want the baby because I am not often wrong with those things". She then read about my career and said "pregnancy" !!!! (I am due to return to work in 2 weeks!)

now DH told me that when he had his reading th psychic said "you're wife is pregnant with a baby boy"

now, I do not want another baby at this stage in my life, I would have liked a 3-4 year age gap at the smallest, but obviously now I am panicking.

Are psychics wrong about these things? I really dont want to do a pg test because then I feel like I am giving in to my worries and the sensible side of me tells me its a load of rubbish...........

would explain why I cant shift my baby weight though wink
