Hello,
Its v.unlikely that the gall bladder op and the lichen planus are linked. Unfortunately both these problems (I'm assuming her gall bladder was removed for gall stones) occur most commonly in women in late middle age. The lichen planus is caused by an OVER-active immune system (its an autoimmune condition) so I think your tricologist is talking arse. That said, its is quite unusual to get lichen planus on the scalp, so perhaps she should see a dermatologist (get GP to refer her) just to make sure its nothing else, she may need a biopsy to confirm the diagnosis. Unfortunately the best treatment for LP is steroids, so maybe a stronger cream, or even a short course of tablets might be effective?
Good luck

There are no drugs you can give to "boost the immune system". It is far too complicated lol.

Well, apart from something very expensive I believe you can paint onto the skin to make warts go away. Only works for warts though.

I will ask my dh (GP) if he has any advice.

But he is at work right now, and overnight, but I will ask him when I talk to him later!

Off to work in a while but wanted to post this before i go.
It's my mom she had her gall bladder removed about 2 years ago and since then has been unwell. She has foot problems ,they feel(inside) like they are on fire most of the time. She has developed Lichen planus in her mouth and now her scalp(which has been red for 12 + months )is making her hair drop outsad
The doctor has run testshmm which came back negative but mom went to see a tricilogist whom upon reading my moms notes said that the GP had not tested her for Anemia(waiting for that now)and she then advised that her GP give her a stronger steroid cream to apply to the scalp.
Mom is also taking Aloe vera gel and using it on her scalp. The Tricologist seems to think that my moms immune system has been compromised following the operation.

It is her birthday today and she was very depressed and on the verge of tearssadsad
Her hair is just dropping out in clumps!

Please can anyone help her?????
Surely if it is the immune system then drugs can be given to boost it???
Gp seems pretty unconcerned tbh .

HELP

TIAxxxxxxxxx

Emphasis: To bold a word, surround it with asterisks, so *hello* will display hello. For underline use _ , so _hello_ gives hello. For italics use ^, so ^hello^ gives hello. To strike out a word, surround it with two hyphens either side, so --dog-- gives dog

Links and smileys: To insert a smiley face, , type [smile] or :)
For a big grin, , type [grin] or :o
For a wink, , type [wink]
For a shocked face, , type [shock]
For an angry face, , type [angry]
For an embarrassed face, , type [blush]

Links The simplest way to insert a link is to enter the link itself, surrounded by [[ and ]]. So if you type [[www.mumsnet.com]], the link will display as http://www.mumsnet.com. If you want your link to display text other than the web address itself, leave a space after the address then add the text before the ]]. So "Look at [[www.mumsnet.com this page]]", would display "Look at this page".
