I have been searching for natural suncreams today as i suffer with this they need to contain titanium dioxide. I also used to have a steroid cream when i was younger that helped.
I used to get this but don't once I swopped to Piz Burn Allergy sun cream - its the only thing that works for me (other than drawing blood with scratching)
i cant even scratch FPE its so sore just rubbing it..will go and buy that piz buin tho...havea ctually seen it somewere recently on offer..now were was it......matalan maybe???
Josafine - I suffer from something called PLE (polymorphic light eruption). It's basically a senstivity to the sunlight and it usually starts with the first proper sunny day and continues for a while until my skin gets 'used' to the sun. It is similar to prickly heat but bumpier and sometimes blistery and you don't just get it in the creases it comes up wherever you have been exposed.
You need to use a sunlotion with a good UVA rating. I use Boots Soltan as it's the only one I don't react to - which is odd beacuse lots of people who have sensitive skin don't recommend it but it works for me. I also take an antihistamine - and I have to take it for a few days before I get exposed to the sun - so spend the spring/early summer watching the weather forcast. I take Telfast 180 (terfanadine) which is only available on prescription I think. Worth a visit to your GP if you think it's more than just prickly heat.
thanks for those links guys will have a proper look in morning, but SMBK, mine isnt only in creases and ive just briefly read one of those links???..so it may be actually what you mention?..its all over my nexk and chest and up my arms..although put dd's factor 30 ambre solaire on today as well as taking anti histemine and its really gone down!??..thanska gain guys, will have a good look later
Mines flared up big time, i've bought some benadril cream and thats taken the worst of it down, but we're off to tenerife on Friday. I never normally get it in this country
I suffer too, so look forward to nice weather and as soon as the sun comes I get this angry red incredibly itchy rash thing on all exposed areas and then have to go in hiding for the rest of the year. I've tried lots of different things and been to two gp's and they both say its eczema !?!triggered by the sun!! I'm not convinced but am now trying eczema cream, its reducing the itch but not getting rid of the unsightly rash. Would be interested in other sufferers gp's diagnosis.
I've suffered with prickly heat for years also, after lots of itchy summers I have finally got it under control with boots soltan for sensitive skin and I take zirtec antihistamine. Smbk, mine sounds exactly the same as yours, it seems that after a few weeks of getting used to the sun my prickly heat is a lot better but the antihistamines really help.
