Im on hols in June so that is my incentive. Beginning of December I went of a cut down diet. All I did, was after my main meal at night, I ate.... NOTHING. No picking... chocolate, biscuits, popcorn (dont we love our popcorn on MN? wink, crisps....nothing. Oh and no pudding!

I lost nearly 1/2 stone just by not picking.

I ate what I liked during the day, biscuit, chocolate... what ever I liked, but just stopped at night.

I have to say, I did go to bed a little bit hungry, but felt so gooooooood the next day, especially as by the end of the first week my stomach had gone down considerably, and by the second week my clothes felt looser.

Who wants to join me? grin anyone?

ah, wicked. I need to start like.... now. I shall CAT you - do you have CAT? else we can monitor progress on here LOL

Can you start tonight? are you up for it?

My aim is drop a dress size, what about you? Can you do a few exercises, or walk a bit more instead of the car? so for instance, I could really walk to pick up LO's from nursery twice a week instead of drive, but there is a mother of a hill in the way, i have to walk and push the buggy at an angle. I must look a sight shock, big arse, big everything LOL

PS, I expect your tummy is like mine, I think its called Jelly Belly. But if you stop picking at night, I promise it will go. Mine started to when I did this before christmas. ITs great! smile

I'd love to! Is wine allowed or it that the biggest baddie?
Contact the poster See this person's profile Contact mumsnet about this post By Nbg on Tue 18-Mar-08 09:41:15
I should do really.
I go away at the start of May and although I'm 14 weeks post natal I look like I'm about 6 months gone again.

Chocolate and sweet stuff is my main downer.
I cant help myself.

I'll have a go as well. What time to we stop snacking at night?
Contact the poster Contact mumsnet about this post By Wolfgirl on Tue 18-Mar-08 09:46:34
wine? well... from memory I think I did have the odd the glass, but only a glass. tbh I cant do more than a glass these days, so it was no worries for me.

There really shouldnt be any restrictions, other than no picking. I think a glass with our dinner is ok, espesh as we not allowed a pudding. shock grin

Count me in... who said 9 months on 9 months off? They should be publically flogged. My DS is nearly one and I'm bridesmaid at the end of the April and beginning to panic... can we have wine though? This is quite important wink

Nbg - yeah, same here. But we can do it, cos I did do it, and it worked. As I said, I did go to bed hungry a few times, but you can feel the FAT burning, its quite wonderful, but odd at the same time. iykwim.

gscrym - straight after your meal. So if you eat with your LO's at say 5 or 5:30 then thats it for you! It will be a long haul eh! We tend to eat quite late - about 6ish. But I had good large portions, to help. But decent food. not fish and chips from the chippy LOL

The point is, WE ARE GOING TO LOSE a DRESS SIZE - yes? or more if we can.

So just to clarify, I can stuff my face till I'm sick in the day but after tea time its a no no?

Do we have a cut off time for dinner? Eg before 6pm.

I was 9 and half stone last time I weighed myself and a size 12.
Normally just under 9 stone and a size 10.
Contact the poster Contact mumsnet about this post By Wolfgirl on Tue 18-Mar-08 09:56:42
gscrym oooh, it might be a toughy for you then, yes - fruit is a good idea. Drinks is good - lo cal obviously, chewing gum, or even if you are desperate, a couple of fruit gums - they are fat free, and small enough not to really count. But only a couple. Just pop a couple in your purse/pocket, along with some fruit and time yourself maybe. At midnight say to yourself, OK treat time, apple yum yum. Then 3am OK treat time, fruit gums yum yum.

Its like when you start off running. You run / walk. and pace yourself between lamp posts. Same with your food. You would have to set your own timings - cos only you know how hungry you get. What do you do btw? I dont envy you nights <<shudders oooh know>>
Contact the poster Contact mumsnet about this post By Wolfgirl on Tue 18-Mar-08 10:01:44
Nbg LO very L

no real cut off time tbh. But its not good to eat late anyway, diet or not. And as far as stuffing. now now Nbg!! naughty naughty naughty girl. OK, this would be my food intake for any normal day - ish:

brekky - 2 weetabix/cereal; 1 toast with honey; mug of tea
morning snack - cup of coffee, couple of biccies

lunch - whatever Im serving the kiddies, could be noodles, beans on toast, poach egg, pasta in soup with peas.... anything; yoghurt maybe

afternoon snack, fruit, alwyas give LOs fruit and I tend to join them. drinks

TEA: main meal, usual meat, pots and veg; or something like curry with rice, or something with pasta. drinks (wine, juice, water...) Ice-cream or some other pud.

Evening snacks - chocolate, chocolate, chocolate, and more chocolate, and maybe popcorn, or something else.

So, I cut out the pudding and I cut out the evening snacks.

Nights are okay, I suppose I'm used to them. I'm a manufacturing technician in a chemical plant. If I'm busy, the shift goes quite quickly. If it's quiet, that's when I find myself getting friendly with the crisp machine. It's 12.5hr shifts so I'll take some fruit and like you said, drinks should be okay. I'll steer clear of fresh fruit juice though because I'd spend the night guzzling that.

ooh gscrym, youre a better lass than I. I couldnt do it, not now at my age, with LO's anyway. Years ago, I used to be in the TA, and thought nothing of a working week in London, getting home, straight out the door, then on a weekend exercise, usually meaning no sleep on the Friday night, shift straight away. But at least even then, it was back to normal on the Sunday night and following week.

I'm purring happily!

It'd kill me working days. I do 4 on then 4 off for 8 weeks. After that I get 18 days off. I can go for almost 3 weeks at work and not have to clap eyes on my boss - result!

I look like a borrower.

No seriously I have major over hanging issues and its not pretty.
Although my dd told me that she loved my jelly belly last week, so its not all that bad hmm

Brekkie I'll have a slice of toast and a banana but we are buggers for buying syrup pancakes so if we have them in, I eat about 4 of them blush

Lunch is usually a sandwich, normally ham and salad

Afternoons I pig out like a monster on sweet stuff

Tea hot meal usually meat and veg.
Then when the kids are in bed I gobble more chocs.

This is a great idea! I've been getting rather porky and since January I've stopped snacking during the day (I never really snack in evenings, lol!) and stopped having cakes etc if I have a coffee when I'm out.

I'm not sure exactly how much I've lost due to using different scales at home and in Nigeria but I definitely feel a bit thinner. smile I'll be home this week so the Time of Reckoning is coming up fast. grin

Hi everyone. Well for tea i had cold roast beef , pasta in tomato sauce and 1 slice of garlic bread, half a yorkie bar blush and some fruit. The yorkie bar was by default really, cos my gluten/wheat intolerant son had bought it, and then found the recipe had changed and he couldn't eat it.I will do better tomorrow!!

Wolfgirl, I'm stunned to hear you lost 1/2 stone by doing something so simple shock

Having tried every diet previously known to man .... it would be amazing to be able to lose weight by making this simple change.

I don't eat a lot at night anyway but I always have a cuppa & a bit of chocolate and the only day I allow myself pudding is after Sunday Lunch.

But the odd time I haven't ate after 6pm I have felt so much lighter the next day, so I think your idea makes a lot of sense.

THANK YOU FOR SHARING (((((BIG HUG)))))

Oh and re your questions: Yes you can drink, but fizzy/sugary drinks.... nope! you can have a glass of wine, or whatever with your meal. Your meal can be as much as you can eat. But then that really is it. Nothing till breakfast time.

showmeheaven I love this name! Yes, it was fabulous. My sister came for christmas and hadnt seen me in 3 maybe 4 weeks, and she was flabergasted. Unfortunately, I was way tooooooo weak over the festive season, and slowly it went back on. BUT, its coming off again.

Showmeheaven I can take emails off the spreadsheet for those who dont want them listed. Also, you can just keep to your MN name on the spreadsheet too.

Also, Im going to create a Group email, and list everyone Blind CC - iykwim. If you dont, basically it means, you will receive your spreadsheet and any other emails from me, but no one else will know you have received it.

Nbg you are soooooooooo funny. I think this week is just getting ourselves phsyced (spelling?) - and me getting the names and spreadsheet set up. Maybe we should start properly after Easter, cos it is a bugger of time to start just before eh!

Me though, I am starting now, because I have holiday in June. Ive been out trying to buy bikinis and clothes, and my body should belong in a donar kebab window, its disgusting.

Im not saying to anyone dont start till next week, but I understand if you slip, or prefer not to start till next Tuesday. wink

There are at least 20 of us now, and I shall list you all a little later tonight smile Then once Ive set the group email up, I shall send the spreadsheet out.

Ooh, me too, please! Ds2 is 14 weeks and it is time for the tummy to go! I have about a stone of "baby weight" to lose. But I've been looking at slimming world and weight watchers and all those, and I can't face it. I decided last night to eat fruit instead of biscuits and chocolate, and see what happens.

So this sounds good. I need to lose a dress size to get back into all my clothes! I am going to swap the daytime biscuits and chocolate for fruit, and then stop eating after tea (we eat at 5ish usually).

Not sure that its wise to start a diet on the Easter weekend, but still!

Hi, thank you for waiting patiently for me! I am going to stay a fatty for now though as it is not the best time for me to try it. I wish you all heaps of luck! My tip is to photograph your tummy on a day you feel horrible. Keep looking at it every time you want to nibble........... grin

Im not doing too bad either grin, just a life time to go now LOL. Did have a lovely dinner that DH cooked, steak, mashed pot, leeks pan fried in butter and cauliflower, covered in creamy pepper sauce.

of course, there's no room for munching even if I wanted too wink

Having seen how much some of you weigh pre-diet I'm a bit reluctant to share my stats. blush again! I keep telling myself that I'm tall and quite toned and muscle weighs more than fat, doesn't it?...Doesn't it?

I weighed myself yesterday at the leisure centre DS goes swimming at and I'm 67.6kgs. I want to knock about 8 - 10kgs off that. I was also taking to the Ranger and another volunteer at the nature reserve I volunteer at and they both weigh about 55kgs, skinny buggers that they are. Oh to be wee and skinny.

I don't think I could take a photo of my wobbly tum, it'd depress me and make me want to munch.

Morning all, JaamyBunny-You shoudn't feel like that. i'm tiny in height only 5ft1, so even if i get down to 9st 1 i will still have a BMI of just under 24. Managed not to eat at all after tea and no pudding either so so far so good !grin

I'm 5 ft 5 (and three-quarters!) currently weigh 10 st 12. I was 10 stone 4 or 5 when i got pregnant and the same within a couple of weeks after dd was born. I'd love to get back to somewhere around there or perhaps a little bit less so i have some leeway!! Especially as we are thinking of TTC number 2 soon. Can't bear the thought of getting pregnant with this extra half a stone to carry around from the outset.

Evening picking isn't my main problem though, it's alcohol and all-day scoffing at weekends when dp and i "reward" ourselves for a hard week by eating non-stop.

So I am going to reduce drinking on week nights to one small glass of red wine, no drinking at lunchtime on weekends, no carbs in the evenings on weeknights. Our Friday night tradition for years has been a takeaway, usually a fatty curry with all the trimmings (poppadoms, mango, naan bread, rice) so Dp has agreed to stop that, and instead to cook at home but something nice so it feels like a treat, maybe a home-made healthy curry with some wholemeal rice (the only week-night when we will have carbs at dinner).

DP and I eat with dd on weekends at around 5.30ish, after which there will be no snacking! On weeknights, we eat at 7.30 or 8pm once she is asleep, so I will cut out carbs on those nights.

I manage to get to the gym 3 or 4 times a week and do at least 40 mins cardio each time, so will stick with that and perhaps try to walk more in general.

Hopefully these little changes will mean lots less of me in a few weeks!

kingprawntikka - thank you lovely - your name makes me so hunry!

I will now confess that I am 5'10" and last time I weighed myself I was 12stone 6lb. Arggh!

Countryhousehotel - I couldn't understand how you'd only put on half a stone with your glorious eating routine until I spotted that you go to the gym 3 times a week. Am very envy of that. I used to go to the gym but DDs make it impossible now. Well done to your DH for supporting you.

gscrym - bet those girls at the pool would blow away in a good strong wind!

I had toast at about 10pm last night - why didn't I just go to bed?????? Can se me spending a lot (more ) of time on MN in the evenings to come.

I'm back to work on Monday so that'll be all the exercise I need. I have about 2-3 hours of really physical work (digging 300kgs of powder out of a filter) then a lot of going up and down stairs. Roll on skinnyness!grin.

Now I just needd sto stop snacking on nightshift!

yeah, not a good name for a diet thread is it!!? See what hope have i got when i was even thinking about food when i picked my name.
I wish i was 5'10". envyi spend my whole life climbing on chairs to reach things!Does that count as step aerobics do you think!?

Morning ladies. well done all of you for trying. And a well done for trying for those who succumbed to munching.

I manged OK but I guess thats because we ate after 8pm, I did have a think about munchies... something sweet. But held fast!

I'm 5ft 4in and weigh 9st 4lb and would like to get to 8st 10 which is 8lb to lose. I've done it before and then bought clothes...needless to say those clothes are a wee bit tight at the moment! Feeling very positive about this though and doing it with other people...believe me I will need the help to get through Easter Weekend let alone the Easter Holidays!!

i sympathise with that countryhousehotel...my top half is relatively "skinny" size 8 (aside from c-section left behind flabby tummy!) its my bottom half that the weight collects on!

Hi all,

Had a good evening last night, ate dinner with the children at 6pm and then the only thing I had after that was a Yoghurt (Low Fat, of course!).

I am 5ft 6 and weigh 10st 8lb the heaviest I have been in a long, long time. I would like to lose at least a stone before June when I am going on holiday with my very slim, glamourous friend.

I'm feeling quite positive, it's really nice to have the support of others.

Hope you're all having a good day,

x

kingprawn, good to see another shorty. i'm 5'2 and 1/2 (v.important!)so i agree that having to climb up to reach things should be counted as step aerobics smile.

did well last night. prob cos DD is teething so never even got to have a cuppa without it going cold.... must try to get to the pool cos i hate the gym.

had to see gp today and when i mentioned the diet he stood me on the scales and said that it would be wise blush promptly followed by " you don't look like you'd be that heavy....." i'll take it as a compliment that i don't look like a lard a**, i just am sad

I was bad last night with a late night sandwich (but at least it wasn't chocolate wink) and fully intend to do better tonight [determined emoticon].

I'm 5'11", and 13 stone 7 (ooh - that's hard just to write it down). I'd like to get back to 12 stone, but mostly just lose the double chin that dominates every photo of me. I'm still bf-ing, so aiming to lose 1 pound/week.

OK ladies, I need your weight, in pounds or Kgs. I dont have scales as I type, but hoping to get some over Easter.

If you dont have any, could you borrow some till you do get any?

Setting this up will take a bit of time, as trying to find a few mins to jump on the computer is a nightmare!

Ive created a second spreadhseet, with only MN name, incentive and weigh in dates. I will send that out in future, and I will keep the one with everyones emails.

MamaChris - if its any consolation Im 6', and last weigh in I was 14 st something, Im a size 18 on the bottom and between 15-16 on top. A real ruddy pear shape, soooo not what the doctor ordered!

I used to be incredibly fit, but with the birth of DS1 I somehow got Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, although didnt realise what it was. It took till last October to have my symptoms diagnosed, which is great, cos at least I can set my pace and deal with it. So I dont do 'extra curriculum' exercise iykwim!

But, I will be do some very simple and slow exercises, like more walking, and some sit ups, and possibly some swimming. It wont be loads, but more than Im doing now.

well wolfgirl - it sounds like we are topsy turvy mirror images. I'm a 14-16 on the bottom, but struggle to find anything to fit on top - mainly men's XL (and they're always tight!). Similarly used to be v fit, but have no excuse for current lack of exercise. I will aim for taking ds for more walks as weather improves.

Hmm, I need someone else to come out of the woodwork, after 2 DD's.and having BF DD1 until I got pregnant with DD2, so no time to diet...I was 16 st 7 last time I checked. I don't have scales in the house as it is too depressing, so I weigh myself on Boots or Tesco machines.
I did okay on Tuesday but last night DH
