My best friend is having her second baby next month and doesn't have a double buggy sorted out yet.
Her DD was 2 last month, and was diagnosed with leukodystrophy a little before her first birthday. She has no muscle control at all, so needs to be nice and comfy but also very well supported-seat facing mum woudl be even better, but too much to ask, I suspect.
Can anyone recommend a double buggy for them?
Most of the ones we've looked at together offer too little support for the older/larger child, and we have not been able to find one made specifically for a SN older child and a newborn
hello - when I was looking last year I couldn't really find anything like this. I got the phil and teds - the harness is good and the seat reclines but it really isn't the most supportive thing. Maybe an option to use occasionally and to use sling / carrier for newborn with sn child in their usual buggy / wheelchair.

Hi, this one is really good it a mamas and papas one i remember my friend having this one a few years back. Unfortunatly they no longer make it. so she would have to get a second had one. But the seats in are proper seats IYKWIM and both seats can face forwards.
We have a similar problem here. DD1 is 3 but with her special needs still requires a pushchair and DD2 is 1. I've had a double Nipper since DD2 was born but they are both getting too big for it now. It's not rear facing but its very comfy.
I've asked for a referal to Wheelchair Services and they haven't come up with anything but I'm going to try a double Mountain Buggy I think. We have a single one for DD1 and that will fit her up to around 5.
I don't know if any of these will be suitable for your friend but it's a starting point.
I don't think there is a great solution out there - my 3yo daughter has CP and can't walk and has very poor trunk control.
When her brother arrived 16 months ago we continued to use our Phil and Ted's and when he was old enough to sit in the back toddler seat Wheelchair Services specially made an insert for the front seat for my daughter.
It's not ideal - she could do with better support and he doesn't like the restricted view of the back seat - but it works.
I use a double when I take DD2 and DD3 out together - DD2 is 4.3 and DD3 is 20 mths. I have the Out N About Nipper Double and love it, but it may not be supportive enough for some children. My DD2 has hypotonia and finds it adequate but it's not ideal. She is also quite tall and slim so can fit in, but I don't think a much bigger child (especially a chunkier one) would fit comfortably.
I also have a Maclaren Major for when I have DD2 on her own (rarely) but was told there was nothing available as a double. There is a Major double but it's not suitable for a baby at all.
