I have a 40% contract but even then I work from home a lot and DH has flexible hours too. And my employer is very supportive and sympathetic. I have felt a bit of sync since going back to work this year ( I was away for about 2 years) but I am getting there slowly.

I do 2 days a week and the arrangement is that during those two days, dh has to try to get time off in an emergency.
Family live abroad or far away.
On occasion, I've taken dd to work with me when I really couldn't get time off (I lecture, so noone to make a fuss).
I did apply for a fulltime job earlier this year, didn't get it and yes, there was part of me that was relieved.
I'm lucky enough to work 2 days a week, my sisters help out after school til I get home. Sorting out school holidays are a nightmare, but between me, my sisters and XH we manage it. The days I work aren't set in stone, and management are sympathetic re carer's leave and appts and so on.
I'd like maybe to do another day a week, but know I'm fortunate to even do the 2 days

I found the thread in site stuff interesting about being a SAHM.
wondered it we could talk about it a bit more on here.
I have't "worked" since dd was born.every time I have thought of getting a p/t job a letter pops through the door with an appointment on it. or dd is poorly.
we have no support from family or freinds. so how do people go to work.
