Note Please be aware that our special needs area is not a substitute for expert advice. Whilst many Mumsnet members have a specialist knowledge of special needs, if they post here they are posting as members, not experts. There are, however, lots of organisations that can help those who have children with special needs, so if you feel you need some expert help, please click here for some suggestions of who to contact. If you have come across an organisation that you have found helpful, please email their web address to our webguide manager here. Many thanks, Mumsnet Towers.

DH wants to live by the sea! He is keen on the Dorset coast somewhere between Christchurch and Exmouth.

DS1 is 5 and has GDD and is currently doing really well at a special school which also has a secondary school on the same site and a fabluous after school club especially for disabled children which also runs holiday playschemes. It feels like we have got it made where we are, and DS1's school is the only consideration as far as I am concerned.

I have googled and only found a couple of private schools in Dorset.

Anyone able to tell me about a great state school in the area which also has the same after school/holiday facilities?

Some special schools have after-school clubs??? That is impressive!

I looked into special schools in Dorset a while ago as was considering moving there. There's the Wyvern School between Dorchester and Weymouth www.wyvern.dorset.sch.uk/
and Mountjoy School in Bridport www.mountjoy.dorset.sch.uk/.

They both look very nice. Hope you find what you're looking for

Thanks.

I thought we were a bit lucky with the after school club...

Emphasis: To bold a word, surround it with asterisks, so *hello* will display hello. For underline use _ , so _hello_ gives hello. For italics use ^, so ^hello^ gives hello. To strike out a word, surround it with two hyphens either side, so --dog-- gives dog

Links and smileys: To insert a smiley face, , type [smile] or :)
For a big grin, , type [grin] or :o

Links The simplest way to insert a link is to enter the link itself, surrounded by [[ and ]]. So if you type [[www.mumsnet.com]], the link will display as http://www.mumsnet.com. If you want your link to display text other than the web address itself, leave a space after the address then add the text before the ]]. So "Look at [[www.mumsnet.com this page]]", would display "Look at this page".
