Note Please be aware that our special needs area is not a substitute for expert advice. Whilst many Mumsnet members have a specialist knowledge of special needs, if they post here they are posting as members, not experts. There are, however, lots of organisations that can help those who have children with special needs, so if you feel you need some expert help, please click here for some suggestions of who to contact. If you have come across an organisation that you have found helpful, please email their web address to our webguide manager here. Many thanks, Mumsnet Towers.

Just started private SALT with DD, I have recieved DD's blue badge renewal, followed by Tax Credits, followed by DD's DLA renewal!!!!

I need to get some info and work out exactly what I should do about work too!!! I am supporting a little boy with DS at his nursery for 6 hrs a week at basic rate pay, but this finishes in July as he starts school. While I am there I have started an NVQ3 and planned to go back as a volunteer to complete it. Now I have a possible opportunity to work in a little pre-school very local to home and school BUT I can only work 16 hours a week before I lose my CA. ( Shame they don't take the 13 or so weeks a year I don't get paid at all outside term-time!!)

All this floating around my head, my mum back in hospital...the children arguing all the time.....then someone throws in the subject of Direct Payments to help with care over the holidays....please shove me in the right direction!!

Emphasis: To bold a word, surround it with asterisks, so *hello* will display hello. For underline use _ , so _hello_ gives hello. For italics use ^, so ^hello^ gives hello. To strike out a word, surround it with two hyphens either side, so --dog-- gives dog

Links and smileys: To insert a smiley face, , type [smile] or :)
For a big grin, , type [grin] or :o
For a wink, , type [wink]
For a shocked face, , type [shock]
For an angry face, , type [angry]
For an embarrassed face, , type [blush]
For a sad face, , type [sad] or :(
For an envious face, , type [envy]
For a sceptical face, , type [hmm]

Links The simplest way to insert a link is to enter the link itself, surrounded by [[ and ]]. So if you type [[www.mumsnet.com]], the link will display as http://www.mumsnet.com. If you want your link to display text other than the web address itself, leave a space after the address then add the text before the ]]. So "Look at [[www.mumsnet.com this page]]", would display "Look at this page".
