Note Please be aware that our special needs area is not a substitute for expert advice. Whilst many Mumsnet members have a specialist knowledge of special needs, if they post here they are posting as members, not experts. There are, however, lots of organisations that can help those who have children with special needs, so if you feel you need some expert help, please click here for some suggestions of who to contact. If you have come across an organisation that you have found helpful, please email their web address to our webguide manager here. Many thanks, Mumsnet Towers.

Has any one heard of this ... its new (apparently) you pay £18 for a year and your child goes at child price and you get a third off.
your child needs to have either the higher rate mobility or higher or middle rate carers. here is the page.

unless I'm missing something, this would be of use to disabled adults rather than children, as the price and discounts sound the same as you would get with an ordinary family railcard.

I think its of benefit if its only you and your child. If you go out as a four or more some, then the discount doesn't work.

Emphasis: To bold a word, surround it with asterisks, so *hello* will display hello. For underline use _ , so _hello_ gives hello. For italics use ^, so ^hello^ gives hello. To strike out a word, surround it with two hyphens either side, so --dog-- gives dog

Links and smileys: To insert a smiley face, , type [smile] or :)
For a big grin, , type [grin] or :o
For a wink, , type [wink]
For a shocked face, , type [shock]
For an angry face, , type [angry]
For an embarrassed face, , type [blush]
For a sad face, , type [sad] or :(
For an envious face, , type [envy]
For a sceptical face, , type [hmm]

Links The simplest way to insert a link is to enter the link itself, surrounded by [[ and ]]. So if you type [[www.mumsnet.com]], the link will display as http://www.mumsnet.com. If you want your link to display text other than the web address itself, leave a space after the address then add the text before the ]]. So "Look at [[www.mumsnet.com this page]]", would display "Look at this page".
