Ive posted in the past about laternative to the Maclaren major as I always thought that it looked very special needsy iyswim...however, one was delivered to my house yesterday. I knew nothing about it and didnt realise that one had been ordered for us [hmmm] however the man came in and set it up and I was pleasantly surprised and my son seems to love it, probably becasue he has more space and hes higher up.....!! Im pleased with it becuase my ds seems pleased with it.
...so my next question is does anyone know where you can gets a raincover and also if theres a sun canopy for it??
Agree with you - got one recently too! I was lucky as a friend had a spare raincover & sunshade but I did buy a padded seat cover to make it more comfy - well worth it. Several sites advertise accessories if you google but I found few actually had them in stock at the time. Bought mine from babyworld. Accessories are expensive though & you need the sunshade on first to be able to use the raincover. Apparently have read on here that one of the Argos universal raincovers will fit & is much cheaper but have no direct experience - perhaps someone else does?
Dd has had her Maclaren major for nearly a year now, and I still haven't got around to buying any extra accessories for it because they're so dear.
Bits like raincovers, sun canopies etc sometimes come up second hand on Ebay. One company makes framed raincovers that fit for about £33 I think. If you get the proper Maclaren major raincover, you HAVE to have the Maclaren sun canopy as well to support it
I have the sunshade and raincover that we don't use anymore. Still use the maclaren, but also just got a new ottobock bingo pushchair, so don't use the accessories for the maclaren. Hardly used, you need the sunshade to use the raincover for the maclaren accessories. Let me know if you are interested.

I was just looking into this too - the raincover/sunshade costs £46.50 direct from McClaren!! I was told that the Argos one wouldn't work as the main metal 'stays' of the buggy are square not round. I'm now going to go with a rain cape type thing!
We've got this one. Still fairly pricey but I can vouch for the fact that it's well made and will last. Ours is several years old and has been folded up with the buggy as well as bashed about in the car boot under shopping, bales of hay etc. It's only just got a split in it after lots and lots of kicking and pulling about from ds. We originally got the proper sunshade/raincover combo but I wouldn't recommend. You have to take it all off before you can fold the buggy and the sunshade is bulky to store and carry around.
This is very interesting as dd2 got her Maclaren Major this week. No extras available from OT, bt at least we have the buggy itself. She is very pleased with it ("a proper big girl buggy", she calls it) which is great as for the next 18 months she is going to be in it until her Perthes Disease runs its course.
We live in Glasgow so a rain cover may well be essential - as well as a shopping basket for under it. There are many downsides to having a 4 and a half year old still in a buggy, but as I don't drive, a buggy to put all the shopping in again is great!
