I would consider Bristol . It would be madness. I've been on some of the sheffield spa meet ups in the past - which were blissfully childfree - but I'm up for anything! I've often thought I'd love to meet up with the SN board posters (and their LO, some of whom I feel I know)
ah, now, such is my acceptance that dd1 is with me at all times as I handle her best etc, etc, I just assumed we were talking about with children, hence my lol-ing
Well I dunno - WITH children would also be interesting, as I said I would love to meet some of the LO we all speak about. But a childfree spa in Bristol would give us time out and chance to actually speak to each other!
I tell you - when we finally get back to the UK for a holiday I would love to have an SN meet up so that I could meet you all in person - especially some I would have known for nearly 5 year Cannot believe I have been posting on mumsnet for 5 years!!!
Great! DH's family lives in Bristol, we are planning a trip to the UK soon, if you guys meet while we are there I would love to meet you all in person! (have a rant, moan, and a laugh with you all in person!) PS: Will probably take with me a copy of that "Posting on this Board" thread and get a translation and a summary if that's okay?? I am blaming it on english not being my mother tongue, but got completely lots in tranlsation!! What on earth is a poater quiche)
there seemed to be a lot of votes for bristol. I could organise something. I don't mind children either way. Or <evil grin> we;ll meet with kids for lunch, then dump them all on dh and go for a spa. Poor man once looked after 12 Home ed kids. He got in from work and I had them all at my house for a HE meet up (ages 5-10) and me and various mums popped out leaving him on his tod. Louro - we're camping near Chichetsrer may 17th - 23rd (me n ds2)if you want to meet for coffee and a abun Where you from Tinysocks?
I can get to a few paces, if we didn't take kids then i could probably collect Riven 9as ong as she's up for the adrenaline trip that is my driving!)- obv would need ds4 with me though, DH is great but not certain he could grow breasts in time!
LOL at the image of Riven's DH looking after all the kids- Sam would 'ave 'im in a sec if he wanted
Ooh spa in Bristol! No kids! Yes count me in, and I don't even mind driving from Sheffield for this. I would need it to be a weekend though, to organise ex-h to have our girls. When the esteemed Hulababy organises the Sheffield spa meet ups, she plans about 6 months ahead and we usually have a good 20 or so who turn up. It would be lovely to do something similar for SN people to meet each other. Riven - the idea of us all dumping the kids on your DH - excellent!! I suspect he wouldn't be your DH for much longer after that.... I would however contribute to flowers for his memorial service.
Would be v. interested in meeting up - a bit freaky, though, like finally seeing a photo of your favourite radio presenter and realising they really don't look like their voice!
I quite often travel down to Bristol to visit friends, so would be happy to meet there (preferably without kids...). Also occasionally venture as far as Leeds, although that's quite a trek from ours.

You're all slim, beautiful and in your early 30s. Not a wrinkle to be seen on your perfect faces and no stretch marks on your taut stomachs. A bit of a wart and verruca problem going around, though.
OK, let me be a bit of a headgirl about this, so we can see where we are! If there's enough numbers we could have 2 meetups north and south. Or just the one if there's not This is the state of play so far. Feel free to cut/paste/add your name/move your name Bristol Riven Peachy Silverfrog Starryeyed Chonky Davros
Without Children . . . north pole suddenly sounds attractive. I'm Slurry so can do Bristol and have rellies oop north so can do Leeds/Bradford way. There are days though when Australia sounds tempting . . .
I've just found a photo of me and hubby with a baby DS1 - we look SOOOOO young! and unstressed! and unwrinkled . . . Am now withered old bag with face ache which doctors and dentists seem not to be able to cure. Hey ho.
you know some woman at works dh has sent her off, all paid for by his 'overtime' to jamaica with her girl friends (I work in retail btw!) I thought why cant my fucking dh do it because hell knows I need it and I would be happy with cheddar gorge I am so deprived
I'm about as far east as you can get so Bristol would be hard. Somewhere a little more in the middle would be good. Would love to meet every one else's lo's but I would leave ds2 at home, same as yurt I wouldn't do much talking with him around.
Oh & I imagine you all as tall, slim, beautifully presented ladies
Can I join the Bristol list? Only 40 mins from me (smug . ) Would love to meet all the children (and for everyone to meet DS2) but he probably wouldn't enjoy it much tbh, unless there was a constant supply of chips! We could come as a family though - then DH could do the looking after while I did the chatting...
so all those near Bristol. How come you haven't been to see me before <narrow eyed look>
So, shall I put some thought into a Bristol one, and maybe someone else can do a midlands one and someone else a north one? What sort of thing would you ladies require?
I've updated the list to keep me calm. This is the state of play so far. Feel free to cut/paste/add your name/move your name Bristol Riven Peachy Silverfrog Starryeyed Chonky Davros Yurt1 Flyingmum Flame Sphil
With the Bristol "yeses" and the 2 of us who could do either we have 12 people So, who's a Bristolian (?is that a word) and can recommend a place to meet? A spa, a restaurant, a male strip club?
might take me several days to get to bristol tbh I used to go there shopping ;as a treat' with me ma and pa too
silverfrog if I was posh i would say i live in whitstable but I am very near. We go to bedgebury though in the holidays. I think i could persuade chocolaterockinghorse to come too (I would have to drive I imagine..) and then there marmadukescarlet (or are you her?)
I can do bristol too but it depends when. Do you have any rough idea when the meeting would be? (is in, next week, or next month, or in an couple of months?)
Another update then! I know, a pyschologist would say I'm a control freak. But its making me happy when the rest of my world is chaos. The kids are wild, the house is a mess, even my patients at work do as they like. Am I getting on everyone's nerves then? (Fio - not sure what you meant, can you come?)

riven, we are planning on the 21rst of June. But please don't delay the meeting on my account, June seems long to wait! If I don' make it please send me all the gossip and pictures though!
riven, you're a busy bunny! Great, I've put the date down on my diary. I'll get DH to look after DS1 (otherwise won't be able to talk to anyone), but I may bring DS2 along (he is easy going).
<ahem> yes I live in tankerton(only when I eat a mcdonalds like live there) would love to meet anyone nive who posts on herre though do I sound desperate?
so we're doing several meets. I'm also happy to meet for a coffee in the Peak District, Essec near Colchester or down by Chichester when I'm there. Am meeting Hecate and TotalChaos for cakies in the Peak District and am looking forward to it. So laydees coming to Bristol, are we thinking lunch?
Fio, come to Bristol with Silverfrog. It would be lovely to meet you. Maybe we could do this several times a year in different locations so we all get a chance to get to at least one?
Sidge, I'm camping near Chichester from sat 17th May to the following friday. Can meet for a coffee n bun and anyone else who is in that area. What county is Chichester in? Sussex?
How about the Tuesday? I'm camping down by East Wittering and don't know the area at all (originally thought chichester was in Dorset so am completely muddled )
I would love to join in but am limited to a couple of hours during schooltime (Herts) so couldn't make Bristol! Might be able to make an eastern meet up? Have fun everyone!
yes 21st is a weekend, oops sorry, thought that since some people need DSs and DDs looked after then weekend would be better. What date is best for everyone?
coppertop I drive past peterborough when I vist my mother (on the a14 way) and would be more than willing to arrange a meet up in the future. I meet my in cambridge too but I dont know if you drive...
I live near to Newmarket. In terms of an Eastern meet-up I could easily make Cambridge or Ely (which are direct trains from Peterborough) or I could drive to Peterborough (I do already for Ds2's OT), but that might be a bit far for the Suffolk people? Equally I could drive to Ipswich or somewhere else in Suffolk but I think that would be a long way for Coppertop?
So are people bringing kids or not? Ditto husbands/partners?
I had a very strange dream about the meet up- Everyone only had user names not real names. My Ds was running wild and everyone was looking at me and silently tutting
I am on Suffolk coast but can make anywhere in the East. I won't bring ds's so a school daytime would eb best for me BUT would love to see everyone else's children.
Bonkerz, Peterborough is about 45 miles due east of Leicester (via A47), Cambridge and Ely are further (south east)for you. Saker I could make any of those. I have no idea where to meet up - somewhere for lunch perhaps?
Oif - I don't drive but a future meet-up would be great.
Peterborough would obviously be easiest for me but anywhere that's easy to get to by train would be ok too.
LOL at Staryeyed's paranoid tutting dream.
I'll probably end up bringing at least one child along, depending on when people want to meet. Atm it's actually dd who's being the biggest PITA challenge.
I think I will bring Ds because he gets really agitated if I leave him with my Mum for too long and Bristol is quite far. Not sure about Dp I would feel awkward if everyone brings their Dps and I haven't but ditto if I do and noone else does.
I might be able to make Bristol meet up as family are still in the area. Would have to bring both girls though as dh away 21st June weekend. But perhaps could leave them at my mum's.
Oif - I'd be up for a Kent meet -up too - its been far too long.
you are always welcome here anyway HITC its still a bl;oody mess though, i have to tell you but at least there is a ceiling on in the kitchen these days......but we can arrange anything you fancy. I know Shiny wants to meet you too x
HI All, just catching up with mumsnet news! DH will not come. I am still undecisive, I want to bring DS2, but if TotalChaos brings her DS maybe he could teach my DS1 a thing or two about talking in 2 word phrases!! We could put them in a corner with pecs and get a knowledge tranfer going on.
How about a brunch? (nothing too expensive please).
So for an Eastern meet-up we would have Me Magso Coppertop Mymatemax ?Bonkerez? ?Oif? Any others welcome?
I think I am slap bang in the middle of you all so if I suggest somewhere central it will be conveniently near to me . Come to that you would all be welcome at my house - honestly. I'm thinking however that if Coppertop is travelling by train with her dd we ought to try and be nearer to her as she will have the most difficult journey.
Oh, I don't know - someone else choose or at least rule out what they can't drive in a school day. None of it's more than an hour's drive for me, so I shouldn't be the one to decide.
