I would consider Bristol . It would be madness.
I've been on some of the sheffield spa meet ups in the past - which were blissfully childfree - but I'm up for anything! I've often thought I'd love to meet up with the SN board posters (and their LO, some of whom I feel I know)
Contact the poster Contact mumsnet about this post By silverfrog on Fri 25-Apr-08 20:38:23
ah, now, such is my acceptance that dd1 is with me at all times as I handle her best etc, etc, I just assumed we were talking about with children, hence my lol-inggrin

Well I dunno - WITH children would also be interesting, as I said I would love to meet some of the LO we all speak about.
But a childfree spa in Bristol would give us time out and chance to actually speak to each other!

there seemed to be a lot of votes for bristol. I could organise something. I don't mind children either way.
Or <evil grin> we;ll meet with kids for lunch, then dump them all on dh and go for a spa. Poor man once looked after 12 Home ed kids. He got in from work and I had them all at my house for a HE meet up (ages 5-10) and me and various mums popped out leaving him on his tod.
Louro - we're camping near Chichetsrer may 17th - 23rd (me n ds2)if you want to meet for coffee and a abun smile

Ooh spa in Bristol! No kids! Yes count me in, and I don't even mind driving from Sheffield for this. I would need it to be a weekend though, to organise ex-h to have our girls.
When the esteemed Hulababy organises the Sheffield spa meet ups, she plans about 6 months ahead and we usually have a good 20 or so who turn up. It would be lovely to do something similar for SN people to meet each other.
Riven - the idea of us all dumping the kids on your DH - excellent!! I suspect he wouldn't be your DH for much longer after that.... I would however contribute to flowers for his memorial service.

Would be v. interested in meeting up - a bit freaky, though, like finally seeing a photo of your favourite radio presenter and realising they really don't look like their voice!

I quite often travel down to Bristol to visit friends, so would be happy to meet there (preferably without kids...). Also occasionally venture as far as Leeds, although that's quite a trek from ours.

Hi

What a lovely idea.

Without Children . . . north pole suddenly sounds attractive. I'm Slurry so can do Bristol and have rellies oop north so can do Leeds/Bradford way. There are days though when Australia sounds tempting . . .

I've just found a photo of me and hubby with a baby DS1 - we look SOOOOO young! and unstressed! and unwrinkled . . . Am now withered old bag with face ache which doctors and dentists seem not to be able to cure. Hey ho.

Somewhere a little more in the middle would be good.
Would love to meet every one else's lo's but I would leave ds2 at home, same as yurt I wouldn't do much talking with him around.

Coppertop and Mymatemax - it's all happening without us envy - maybe we should do our own Eastern region meet-up. Anyone else over this way?

I would love to join in but am limited to a couple of hours during schooltime (Herts) so couldn't make Bristol! Might be able to make an eastern meet up? Have fun everyone!

isn't June 21st a weekend? Cant find diary to check.

I'd be up for an Eastern meet-up. I'm in P'boro but Suffolk sounds as though it will be much easier to get to than Bristol was.

I had my first SN meet-up at Bristol with MrsF last year.

yes 21st is a weekend, oops sorry, thought that since some people need DSs and DDs looked after then weekend would be better. What date is best for everyone?

coppertop I drive past peterborough when I vist my mother (on the a14 way) and would be more than willing to arrange a meet up in the future. I meet my in cambridge too but I dont know if you drive...

I live near to Newmarket. In terms of an Eastern meet-up I could easily make Cambridge or Ely (which are direct trains from Peterborough) or I could drive to Peterborough (I do already for Ds2's OT), but that might be a bit far for the Suffolk people? Equally I could drive to Ipswich or somewhere else in Suffolk but I think that would be a long way for Coppertop?

you still making lists here Headgirl? I've lost track completely.
Contact the poster Contact mumsnet about this post By magso on Wed 30-Apr-08 10:49:48
I can travel - its Ds free time that limits how far! Could manage Peterb or Cams tues - thurs early lunch. (Ds would stop me talking!)

So are people bringing kids or not? Ditto husbands/partners?

I had a very strange dream about the meet up- Everyone only had user names not real names. My Ds was running wild and everyone was looking at me and silently tutting blush

Magso
They would be good times for me - I would also prefer not to have the Dss with me.

Bonkerz - could you make Peterborough/Cambridge/pos Ely - I think there are reasonably good trains from Midlands.

I am on Suffolk coast but can make anywhere in the East.
I won't bring ds's so a school daytime would eb best for me BUT would love to see everyone else's children.

Bonkerz, Peterborough is about 45 miles due east of Leicester (via A47), Cambridge and Ely are further (south east)for you.
Saker I could make any of those. I have no idea where to meet up - somewhere for lunch perhaps?
Contact the poster Contact mumsnet about this post By coppertop on Thu 01-May-08 10:34:34
Oif - I don't drive but a future meet-up would be great.

Peterborough would obviously be easiest for me wink but anywhere that's easy to get to by train would be ok too.

LOL at Staryeyed's paranoid tutting dream.

I'll probably end up bringing at least one child along, depending on when people want to meet. Atm it's actually dd who's being the biggest PITA challenge.

I think I will bring Ds because he gets really agitated if I leave him with my Mum for too long and Bristol is quite far. Not sure about Dp I would feel awkward if everyone brings their Dps and I haven't but ditto if I do and noone else does.

I might be able to make Bristol meet up as family are still in the area. Would have to bring both girls though as dh away 21st June weekend. But perhaps could leave them at my mum's.

Oif - I'd be up for a Kent meet -up too - its been far too long.
Contact the poster Contact mumsnet about this post By TotalChaos on Thu 01-May-08 13:31:57
I'm planning on bringing DS and sending DH off to spot buses or something!

HI All, just catching up with mumsnet news!
DH will not come. I am still undecisive, I want to bring DS2, but if TotalChaos brings her DS maybe he could teach my DS1 a thing or two about talking in 2 word phrases!! We could put them in a corner with pecs and get a knowledge tranfer going on.

How about a brunch? (nothing too expensive please).

Im up for anything. I dont know Bristol at all so Im relying on your recommendations.
Contact the poster Contact mumsnet about this post By Saker on Fri 02-May-08 11:06:14
So for an Eastern meet-up we would have
Me smile
Magso
Coppertop
Mymatemax
?Bonkerez?
?Oif?
Any others welcome?

I think I am slap bang in the middle of you all so if I suggest somewhere central it will be conveniently near to me blush. Come to that you would all be welcome at my house smile - honestly. I'm thinking however that if Coppertop is travelling by train with her dd we ought to try and be nearer to her as she will have the most difficult journey.

Oh, I don't know - someone else choose or at least rule out what they can't drive in a school day. None of it's more than an hour's drive for me, so I shouldn't be the one to decide.
