Sat last I had a very slight bleed, 5 days before p. due. Tues, 2 days before due, I took a First response early preg test and got the most faint line on it imaginable...you had to kind of squint sideways to see it at all, but it was there. Repeated test on Wed and still there, although boots own test and Clearblue showed nothing at all. ( I am an obsessive tester. ) Tested again today with first repsonse looking for a more convincing result, but showed nothing at all today and then my p. got going, just a little late.

So question is... can these things be wrong... can you get a faint faint line that means nothing ? Are these tests prone to being misread ? Or is this what I don't even want to think about ?

some preg test like clearblue may give a faint line even if you are not pregnant.
but since you used the early first response(personally i never used that b4) and u tested 2 days b4 period is due, u might be pregnant.
i had that faint line n believed i wasn't pregnant...and i was indeed.
good luck

It sounds like you may have had either evap. lines on the FR's (they aren't well known for this though) or perhaps a chemical pregnancy, which is basically when the egg is fertalised, but it doesn't implant properly.

Either way if your period is here now, it is, unfortunately, very unlikely you are pregnant this time

thank you for that. I am now having the heaviest sorest p. I've had in a long time, so definately nothing now. Feeling very sad at the thought that I have a had a wee false start. I'm never going to test early again, if I hadn't I would never have known and wouldn't now be feeling the loss of something that was only barely there at all, if it even was at all.

could have been a chemical pregnancy....

You will test positive briefly then negative again then period arrives...

on the bright side if it has happened once it can happen again so hopefully the next one will be a 'keeper'

Emphasis: To bold a word, surround it with asterisks, so *hello* will display hello. For underline use _ , so _hello_ gives hello. For italics use ^, so ^hello^ gives hello. To strike out a word, surround it with two hyphens either side, so --dog-- gives dog

For a big grin, , type [grin] or :o

Links The simplest way to insert a link is to enter the link itself, surrounded by [[ and ]]. So if you type [[www.mumsnet.com]], the link will display as http://www.mumsnet.com. If you want your link to display text other than the web address itself, leave a space after the address then add the text before the ]]. So "Look at [[www.mumsnet.com this page]]", would display "Look at this page".
