Just wondering... I am taking the week off ttc but I was wondering if it was possible or if its totally not etc. I understand about ovulation and when you ovulate but I remember being warned by health teachers in school that doing it on your period wasnt birth control.

Yes, you can become pregnant if you have intercourse during your period.

Short menstrual cycles and sperm's ability to live inside the female body for 7 days make it possible.

It's very, very unlikely but not impossible.
As tb73 says it depends on your cycle.

If you have a 24 day cycle and ovulate on day 10 and have sex on day 4 of your period then it could happen.

However if you were bleeding heavily the sperm probably wouldn't be able to reach the cervix, and although sperm can live for a week inside you, most only survives 72 hours.

So you'd have to be incredibly unlucky (or lucky depending on what you want) to conceive while menstruating.

Emphasis: To bold a word, surround it with asterisks, so *hello* will display hello. For underline use _ , so _hello_ gives hello. For italics use ^, so ^hello^ gives hello. To strike out a word, surround it with two hyphens either side, so --dog-- gives dog

Links and smileys: To insert a smiley face, , type [smile] or :)
For a big grin, , type [grin] or :o

Links The simplest way to insert a link is to enter the link itself, surrounded by [[ and ]]. So if you type [[www.mumsnet.com]], the link will display as http://www.mumsnet.com. If you want your link to display text other than the web address itself, leave a space after the address then add the text before the ]]. So "Look at [[www.mumsnet.com this page]]", would display "Look at this page".
