if you were TTC and desperate would you prefer to hear about a friend's BFP in person or by email (friend was also TTC for ages)

In person if a good friend.

Congratulations!

In person.

This has happened 4 times to me (have been ttc for 17 months) - have heard in different ways with all of them - the best was in person on our own. The worst was in a group at dinner when she just told everyone.

In person, but not a big champagne announcement in front of a group of people. That happened to me recently, and as I'd only miscarried just two weeks before, someone else's pregnancy was the last thing I felt like celebrating (even though I was very happy for the couple).

Definitely one-to-one, in person.

I have to say that personally I'd prefer to be told by phone. Iwas TTC for a year and in that time I was told by phone, in person and by text. I found being told in person the worst but that's just how I felt.

I wouldn't mind how I was told.

Phone. It gives the other person a chance to go and have a good cry (if they need to) without having to handle a social situation / wait for you to leave. It's how we did things with DH's sister, and she said later that she appreciated that.

Email. I had a mc at the end of March. Last week one of my good friends emailed me to tell me she was pregnant. I saw her a few days later in person, but like CaptainKarvol - I appreciated receiving the news in private so I could have a good cry and prepare myself emotionally to see her & congratulate her.

Emphasis: To bold a word, surround it with asterisks, so *hello* will display hello. For underline use _ , so _hello_ gives hello. For italics use ^, so ^hello^ gives hello. To strike out a word, surround it with two hyphens either side, so --dog-- gives dog

Links and smileys: To insert a smiley face, , type [smile] or :)
For a big grin, , type [grin] or :o
For a wink, , type [wink]

Links The simplest way to insert a link is to enter the link itself, surrounded by [[ and ]]. So if you type [[www.mumsnet.com]], the link will display as http://www.mumsnet.com. If you want your link to display text other than the web address itself, leave a space after the address then add the text before the ]]. So "Look at [[www.mumsnet.com this page]]", would display "Look at this page".
