am 39+5 and this morning the consultant who checked me (had to review a scan result) gave me a sweep. apparently i am at least 3 cm dilated already and she said cervix is incredibly favourable, but head still high up...

what can i expect now you think? (this is my second baby, dd was born at 39+2 so i already feel overdue..)

I had a sweep at 3pm one day and had babe 12.20pm the next. It was all very quick, felt strange when I woke up and had only 20 mins of contractions before he was born. This was 2nd baby too and done at 37 weeks. I expect you will deliver quite soon.

No not a home birth - we went to the hospital as I felt really strange and it was Christmas Eve and I wanted reassurance! My DH dumped the car in front of casualty, gave the keys to security man and shoved me in a wheelcahir and RAN to the delivery suite. When I got there thre midwife said "do you think you could do a urine sample?" I said "no I can only give you a baby" and that was what I did! Good luck!

Links The simplest way to insert a link is to enter the link itself, surrounded by [[ and ]]. So if you type [[www.mumsnet.com]], the link will display as http://www.mumsnet.com. If you want your link to display text other than the web address itself, leave a space after the address then add the text before the ]]. So "Look at [[www.mumsnet.com this page]]", would display "Look at this page".
