Milk is an important source of nutrients that you and your family shouldnt miss out on. If someone in your family has lactose intolerance and the rest of the family still want to enjoy the taste of real milk, try Lactofree - the UKs first virtually lactose-free dairy drink.
There are loads of people on here who have horsygirl.
However, I am not one of them and breastfeeding is still affecting my fertility even though ds is 2.7 and is obviously eating lots of food as well. I have periods and am ovulating, but I now ovulate much later in the month leaving too short a luteal phast (time between ovulation and my period) for implantation.
You just have to remember that everybody is different and you won't know where on the return to fertility spectrum you are until you ttc.
I was still exclusively breastfeeding when I got pregnant again. My son was just shy of 6 months old (and now I'm due in approximately 7 weeks - eek!). I don't know if it made a difference, but he had stopped feeding at night when I conceived - he started sleeping from 11pm when I gave him his evening feed through to about 6 or 7am when I would give him his morning feed. I later heard that this large gap between feeds could have affected my return to fertility.
My periods returned whilst exclusively bf dd at 4 months and I was feeding every 2hrs day and night. However, my luteal phase like mawbroon's was very short for another 6 months and is still slightly shorter than what it used to be (dd is 12mo) but within the realms of a normal cycle. I think it depends on the person but my cycle's only gone back to normal-ish now that dd doesn't bf at night.
Unfortunately though, while it is 98% reliable it is the hardest form of contaception to use effectively, as just one night out without expressing to make up for it can leave you unprotected forever more iyswim!
I started ttc one year after having ds3 who was bf but obviously by then not exclusively. We had no luck for 18 months, I weaned him and was pg within 2 months. May have been coincidence but it certainly appeared to adversely affect my fertility.
