I made ice-lollies from expressed breast milk when ds was a baby (was 4-7 mo in the summer and teething). I can't be arsed with expressing for 7.5mo dd this summer (and I melted my pump trying to sterlise it - there's a lesson there somewhere), so I was wondering if it's okay to make ice-lollies from formula milk? Otherwise I'll just stick with fruit...

I dont think you can freeze formula unless it is mixed with food.

Hey. No i dont think you can use formula. But I think I will steel your idea of making ice lollys from EBM! How old do you think baby should be when they start having these? My DD is 4.5months and I dont think she owuld take it yet, but might do in a couple of months, it will still be summer?

Ooo goodie, i was just thinking about this the other day when ds (4.5m)head dived into dp's ice cream cone, it was a real battle to get him away!

Phlossie, do you mean frozen whole fruit or puree?

I freeze watered down purees - smooth smoothies IYKWIM! I also freeze half full lolly moulds and then fill them up with a different smoothie - so strawberry and apple and then mango. Yogurt freezes well too.
Chloe - I think you can make EBM lollies from any age, esp if your lo has sore gums.

ebm lollies what a fab idea! do you literally just use the normal lolly moulds so they have a wee plastic stick to hold them with?

and am i right in thinking i'll probably have to strip dd and hose her down once she's finished?! grin

yep - just use the normal moulds. you can get them in poundland. ds loved them when he started teething at 4 months - i did have to hold it for him though.
