exactly the same (every 1.5 or 2 hours through the day) until about 8 or 9 months when he cut right down. Didn't really seem to coincide with him eating any more so not sure why - whether he could just hold more in his tummy? He was OK at night though - that wasn't every 2 hours thankfully! Feeding time definitely shortened though, I suddenly noticed I no longer had to make sure I had a drink first!
mine increased his feeds to start with, and was ravenous for boob straight after solids. a few weeks in and he is back to exactly trhe same as before. Ie, every 2 hours day and night lol
6 mo old definitely having shorter feeds now - is on 2 meals a day but still very small meals (1 ice cube worth of fruit/veggies at each meal). Prob on 5 feeds during the day (about 7, 11, 2, 4, 6, so still hungrier in afternoon/evening). 1 night feed about 4am.
Really well thanks hunker LO is now in 3-6mths clothes at 7wks . At the moment my dd2 feeds at about 630, 10, 12,2, 3,4,5,1830,12, 3am and 5am! Not too bad. It was only once in the night until she started going to bed earlier. I am lucky because she doesn't mess during the night so we just feed in bed (I sleep) then when I realise she has finished I put her back in her moses basket.
ds has always been a marathon feeder, 3 hours plus with a -ing 6 hours cluster feeding in the evenings, so I very happy to say his feeds rapidly got shorter, now at 8 months his feeds are about 10-15 mins each side. He has one feed in the morning before breakfast, he dropped his lunchtime feed pretty quickly after starting solids so his next milk feed is at about 3pm, then he has tea at 5pm and the next feed is just before bed with a dream feed at about 11pm. I noticed a radical change in his feeding patterns with the introduction of solids, we went from almost continuous feeding to the above routine within weeks of getting up to 2 meals a day, and they didn't change with the introduction of the third meal except the dropping of the lunchtime feed which had always been a bit of a snack.
Tell me about it!! LOL. I missed a feed at 10am as well! I manage it because my friends are fantastic (waves to shosh). They manage my dd1 who is 2.4 if I am feeding while we are out somewhere or in their houses.
They're all different Tori, but you never know.... I hope it does happen, it's so nice to have my life back. I just love taking ds out for the day knowing we won't have to search for somewhere I can bf him every couple of hours. His latest faddy food thing is that he won't eat anything from a jar, not even lovely expensive organic stuff, he only wants the stuff mummy makes so I usually have to search for a microwave or something! So precious about his food
DS is 8.5 months, went to BF support group a couple of weeks back to ask advice re weaning (his weight plateaued to begin with, now gaining fine). Advice was bf when he wakes and before bed, plus a feed between meals (eg mid morning, mid afternoon). This is pretty much what we'd been doing anyway - however sometimes DS doesn't take much at night feed as solid food not that long before... Can you tell when your LO is hungry? Think feeding is still advised on demand, even at this point.
I am demand feeding, she has just set her own pattern really except bedtime which I tried to get earlier so at least I can go out if I want to. She is only 7wks at the moment so not worried about it. I just don't think I can keep up this level of demand indefinately iyswim! I just wondered if it got less intense when they wean.
It gets less intense before they wean in my experience - you are in the first 10 weeks no?, which is always a bit full on - or was for me. It settled down and was less often after that
my dd is 9 months and i have just cut back from 5 bm feeds a day to 3, makes things a bit easier. She has 7am (or 6 or 5.30 on bad days!) 1pm after lunch and bedtime (now followed by small bowl of museli or porridge to aid longer sleeps -ha! that's the idea anyway!) Would feed her in between if really necessary but she has 3 meals and 2/3 small snacks with water. Morning and night feeds are shorter, afternoon still quite long but i don't mind.
