...DD is breastfed. I think she takes about 20oz but because she is going to nursery next month for one day a week I wondered if I would be able to get away with expressing a bit less than this? It's made more complicated by the fact that she stopped taking bottles at 9 months and will only drink it out of a TT cup (I know this is a good thing) but they are not ideal for expressing into for a whole day IYSWIM...

aT 8 MTHS, MY BABY COULD GO A WHOLE WORKING DAY WITH NO MIL OF ANY SORT.

You could express maybe 8-10 oz per day?
Gawd knows to be honest, haVE NEVER MEASURED ANY MILK INTAKE.

I don't know either MD but I guess I need to know what she is supposed to have and then take it from there. The actual expressing is not a problem and I eould explode at work if I didn't but 20oz of milk all in little TT cups is just going to be a bit ridiculous...

So was your baby at nursery at 8 months? Did you express for him/her?

No.
I went in once a day to feed as back at work at 7 mths, then nursery owner (ex midwife) suggested she would do fine without, and she did! Still carried on breastfeeding until she was 30 months.

Oh right. Might just get away with feeding her before work (I start at 7am) and when I get back (10pm) then.

Thanks!!!!

Mine had 12-14oz in just one feed at that age, - actually pretty much from birth

Oh yeah, sorry I forgot to say it will be a long shift!!!

I just wish she would take bottles-the cups seem a bit of a hassle...

Could you try mixed feeding to make sure you get enough milk in - supposed to be a pint till 1 isn't it?

BF in the morning and at night, and top up with formula in the day from cups.

Could do but it's not the expressing that will be difficult-I need to express anyway at work because ill be exploding if I don't. I think it's the cups I have problems with. They are not meant for warm drinks and I guess I just prefer the idea of her taking a bottle. Will do that MD and see...

Thanks!!

Emphasis: To bold a word, surround it with asterisks, so *hello* will display hello. For underline use _ , so _hello_ gives hello. For italics use ^, so ^hello^ gives hello. To strike out a word, surround it with two hyphens either side, so --dog-- gives dog

Links The simplest way to insert a link is to enter the link itself, surrounded by [[ and ]]. So if you type [[www.mumsnet.com]], the link will display as http://www.mumsnet.com. If you want your link to display text other than the web address itself, leave a space after the address then add the text before the ]]. So "Look at [[www.mumsnet.com this page]]", would display "Look at this page".
