Milk is an important source of nutrients that you and your family shouldnt miss out on. If someone in your family has lactose intolerance and the rest of the family still want to enjoy the taste of real milk, try Lactofree - the UKs first virtually lactose-free dairy drink.
me too 500 extra calories a day needed while bf and you run around all day, instead of sitting down at a desk - so you basal metabolic rate is higher its a great diet! (however if you are worried see your doc rather than believing random person on MN)
I had the exact same experience. I am now 10lbs lighter than I was before I got pregnant! My dd is 21 weeks old and I'm in the process of changing from bf to ff so will now have to start eating normally again.
You need a lot of extra calories when bf (I think 500-800). Try to eat regularly and well but this is easier said than done. If you feel otherwise unwell check with your GP as I was told that it could be something to do with your thyroid (I've had a lot of people commenting on my weight loss too)
Enjoy eating what you want while you can. For me it was one of the few joys of bf!!
I was 1 1/2 stones lighter when I finished bfing at coming up to 16 months than when I started - despite eating 4 times a day and 2 'snacks' (generally a whole pack of bics in the morning - I am a pig) - had to be more restrained pm because of ds1). Was one of the reasons I wanted to stop. I couldn't take the pace of the day with so little weight on me. It's all coming back on now though!
aagh! why does this never happen to me? I am bf no 2 and not losing any weight - I am eating way less than when i was pregnant and training for a triathlon - i can't lose the last 5 lbs i want to. i am thinking of cutting down feeds (3 a day just now at 10 months old)to 1 or 2 over the next few weeks. I am hoping that when i stop something will magically happen to lose the weight!
My sister and a friend of mine both lost their last bit of weight after they finished breastfeeding. I think some women just store a bit - for emergency supplies I guess!
