Having stayed here for the weekend with a toddler and 6 week old I'd totally agree with Lemontart's review. The staff really go out of their way to help you and children are accepted warmly. They do various deals and I found calling them directly was cheaper than through their website, at £208 for a double dinner, bed and breakfast for the weekend. Stunning value.

The double room was spacious and they provided a travel cot and bedding. The room was large enough (room 202) for my son to be out of sight in his cot and to have plenty of room for him to play. The television also vitally has CBeebies!

Other than the pool and grounds (used for free by guests) the other real selling point for those with small children is that under 3s dine for free and they'll provide anything on the menu for them. We did this mainly in the bar and had a good range eg pasta pesto, cheese on toast, fruit salads etc. Breakfast is continental and cooked buffet.

Dinner in their main restuarant, Moreton's, was nothing amazing but good and fast service. We chose to upgrade to dinner at the Orangery on the second night which is in a gorgeous, large glass-ceiled building. It is spacious and feels very special. The food is pricier but has great range and was very tasty eg beef wellington, lobster ravioli, cherry bakewell tart with caramel sauce and rum and raisin ice cream.

We took our 6 week old to all the restaurants and received a very warm reception each time. They have a baby listening service which allows you to use any phone in the hotel to listen in to your bedroom whenever you want. For reliable sleepers this would be plenty to allow you to go to one of their bars or restaurants for the evening if you felt able to.

There's also a spa on site in case you're lucky enough to use it - I had a delicious aromatherapy masage with Elemis products.

The hotel is also near to Westonbirt arboretum which is huge and is great kids to run around in.

All in all a great place to go - would happily return.

This is a wonderful, child-friendly hotel set in beautiful grounds right next to an arboretum. Near the M5, easy to access. The staff go that extra mile with children and the dining is relaxed and easy. There is a wonderful smallish family-friendly swimming pool, jacuzzi, sauna and gym. (One of those that give you hot fluffy towels and plenty of water toys for your children.)

We are gym members here and LOVE the place to bits. Heartily recommend it - plenty to do in the area too, not just a great stop over for a wedding! No creches or kids clubs etc (reason why I gave it 9 - personally not interested in these facilities so would be 10 anyway for me), but great for children if you like keeping them with you.
