Thought I'd review this pushchair as I have had it for 9 months now and have really loved it. I actually bought mine second hand on ebay (I think there are still lots around) and mothercare still do a version of it which is called the 'xtreme' and is pretty much the same as the urban detour. First and foremost I didn't see ONE other pushchair near me that coped with the snow we had this winter just gone - the urban detour was amazing! The front wheel cut through the snow and was steady on the ice so I was out and about every day.

Love about this pushchair;

*large front wheel great for uneven ground (surprising how bad some pavements can be!)

*large and robust - I have bashed this pushchair around lots and it is not showing any signs of giving up!

*easily manoevrable despite size

*air filled tyres give a smooth ride over all the cobbles where I live!

*easy to collapse and fold

*big shopping basket - I am constantly amazed by how much I can fit in it!

*My little one seems very cosy in it!

*My little one loves holding onto the bar at the front

*all in all good value robust product

Little niggles

*doesn't lie completely flat

*seat recline is adjusted by a clip which isn't ideal but works fine

*it is heavy to lift when folded - I can manage fine but I am used to lifting my mum's wheelchair so doesn't feel like a big deal (might be an issue if you live upstairs)

*raincover is bulky (can ones that fold smaller online I think)

*face forward only (don't think my little one minds!)

I would happily recommend this pushchair as a good value alternative to some of the much more pricey 3 wheelers on the market.

This is a brilliant buggy - I had a c-sec and couldn't push shopping trolleys and most buggies but this one, although it's rather large, just glides along. It's so easy to push and very maneuverable even in tight spaces. I've taken it running across grass and along the Cotswold Way and it's not had a problem with any bumps/ruts and my daughter doesn't get shaken about too much. The only downside is that it takes up a LOT of boot space and is quite heavy to lift so it's not best for use on public transport. I would recommend this though as a very dependable buggy.

I had this for DS from birth and loved it to push; very easy and manouverable. Easy to fold (genuine one hand fold system!) and comes with everythign you need - no extra costs for cosytoes, etc. Downside: couldn't lift it into the boot of my car for the first couple of months (had emergency c-section!) and it is awkward on public transport, plus the innertubes, if they need replacing, cost £16 each - hence now, even though it is in perfect condition otherwise, we are not using it as all 3 need to be replaced and I can't jsutify the cost with an older toddler!

I have the Sahara version which we bought about 18mths ago when no1 was on the way. Although overall I have been very pleased with it, a couple of problems have arisen as no1 has got bigger - he was already too big for the cosytoes by the time it really got cold last winter and that was only at 9mths old and he doesn't like it as much as our small stroller as he doesn't sit very upright even with the seat and vertical as it will go. Also you have to put the seat back down when you fold the buggy up. One thing that convinced us about the buggy was it is a travel system and being able to take him from the car in the carseat without disturbing him - never worked - the car engine turning off always woke him up, even now, so i would probably have been better to get a separate car seat that didn't have the car seatbelt going over baby.

Final point this model came with a bag - a rucksack would have been better as I was always running out of space to store the shopping.

Very easy to put up & fold. Good colour-especially when ground is muddy! Bad a LITTLE on the small size, but we managed & still managing 2.5 yrs later! Four downsides: Not good on rougher terrain, rain cover tears easily-considering it's hardly been used in 2.5 yrs, it looks a lot older than it is! Thirdly it's hard to find a sunshade for it! Fouthly: it's very bulky, in a Saxo, the WHOLE of the boot's taken & in a Volvo S40 saloon three qrts of the boot's taken! But for a complete travel system for first time parent, it's very good value for money. Hardly ANY punctures at all, and it's ravelled around the reservoirs loads of times!
