Comments from other Mumsnetters:
"A funny book with a serious undertone that was reassuring, realistic and entertaining." "Written a long time ago, but still a very readable manual full of humour and good sense." "Not patronising or over-prescriptive, it's great anti-guilt stuff with some top time-saving tips and shortcuts." "Pitched at her Radio 4 fans, it's a bit cosy middle class, but having said that I loved it and often give it as a present to new mums." "Having read so much of how its supposed to be done in a perfect world, it was refreshing to read how to be a good parent in the real world."

A really reassuring book for not-so-perfect mums. Lots of useful hints interspersed with humour.

A great book which sums up the anxiety and hilarity of pregnancy and parenthood, with some funny tips on how to survive relatively sane. Someone bought this for me when pregnant with my first and it has been much thumbed-through ever since!

I loved this book - it's straightforward and realistic as well as being funny and easy to read during the first sleep deprived weeks. I'm particularly taken with the tip about entertaining a toddler by blowing bubbles and can't wait to try it out. Eleanor (13 weeks) didn't seem impressed but I'm sure she'll get the idea in a few months!
