One and Only Kanuhura Resort and Spa, Maldives

This is my favourite ever holiday resort. Beats Sandy lane, Saint Geran, Viceroy Anguilla (dreadful) etc etc for me. Truly fabulous food excluding only the revolting tea time pancakes and the over hyped beach barbecue - not worn half it's cost. All the villas open out onto the beach with a civilised amount of space between each. V child friendly- they do free childrens

laundry which I really appreciated. Pay up for the plunge pool, nothing beats being able to dip in and out your own pool in privacy and they are big enough to be of real use to learner / beginner swimmers.

Mumsnetters' comments: "A honeymooner's paradise - but they also welcome children with open arms." The "genuinely caring" kids' club was popular, though "they were keen on children being potty trained." The food is "fabulous" with plenty of choice for adults and children, "even faddy ones!" Accommodation is "amazing" private and luxurious: "the bath was big enough for our daughter to swim in!" The location is stunning and "though there's not much to do other than everything to do with the water" the "diving and snorkelling are great." The only major downside is the astronomical cost, but everyone who'd saved up agreed it was "worth it!"

Mumsnet tip: Do go for the noise reduction headphones on the seaplane. It's hot and very noisy and proved a bit much for some small children. The headphones really helped.
