Charlotte's Web

We saw this at the cinema and have since bought it on DVD, it is a great story, both my dd's loved it.

Pleasantly surprised at how faithful this was to a much-loved children's classic novel. Dakota Fanning makes a wonderful Fern and Julia Roberts is less annoying than usual as she is voicing Charlotte the spider and therefore not seen on screen at any time.

The inevitable sadness of Charlotte's death is handled well. Minor characters like Lurvy and Avery are included too, although I think we could have managed without the "comedy" fainting horse in the barn, and what a shame they did not give Fern's classmate Henry Fussy the namecheck he so richly deserves.
