Howl's Moving Castle is such a beautiful story. We actually hadn't watched any anime before this and we were all dumbstruck by it. We actually watched it with subtitles the first time and even though my 6 year old couldn't keep up with all the subtitles, she just got so into the story that she didn't need them, and it's a good tool actually for them to pick up a bit of speed on reading and is an interesting different format to practise there skills.

Brilliant Japanese anime about a girl who is transformed into an old woman by a witch, so he goes to stay with the wizard Howl, who lives in a castle with a talking fire, Calcifer (played by Billy Crystal)....

My 3 yr old loves it, but I think it appeals to all ages, it is beautifully drawn.

If you are looking for something a wee bit different, for the whole family to watch any ghibli film is worth a look, but I think this is one of the best.
