This is a fantastic read as well as a cookery book. In it you discover the history of the places and people as well as wonderful descriptions of delicious food. I have been inspired to cook dinner parties and buffets from it as well as added to my repertoire of everyday foods. Some of the best recipes include m'choui (slow cooked lamb) and a carrot salad to die for.

Superb. Recipies are generally easy to follow and authentic, with plenty of background facts thrown in.

This is a fantastic book full of interesting facts as well as wonderful recipes. I have used many of these recipes and found them clear and easy to follow. Nice to find a beautiful and interesting "coffee table" type cookbook that is also a practical and useful recipe book.

A brilliant book if you like Middle Eastern food (or just want a change) - or are interested in the history and culture(s). Delicious food, mostly easy to cook, as well as more challenging dishes and fascinating background. I particularly like Mutabbal (an Aubergine dip).
Some excellent vegetarian recipes as well.
